Why should you be a Necromancer?
If you have to ask, you’ll never know.
Go make one and try it!
Minions appear to be unable to handle elevation changes, at least that’s when they drop aggro for me. If it’s a flat surface they aggro just fine.
I remember when I first started playing GW2 the concept of combo fields/finishers was lost on me for the longest time mainly because I was playing Necro.

Are you actually arguing that we were somehow better off back then?
We have gained very little at best in the last 16+ months and most of it has been trades like Dhuumfire and Deathly Preception for our Defense (Deathshroud Absorb) or Group Support (Putrid Mark).
Better or Worse is difficult to say. It does seem that Necromancers have increased in power slower then other classes and we are further then we have ever been from the Attrition class that was originally described.
I would say we were a stagnant mess with nonfunctioning traits galore, and deathshroud absorb did not work a year ago, it was around in beta, then they “fixed” it, then brought it back, then removed it again. I fail to see how we were any better at attrition a year ago, or better at pretty much anything other than being a source of free bags.

Well, sorry to hear that. I have difficulties being quite so pessimistic, I remember where we were at a year ago.
Closer to an actual attrition class? (Albeit more broken in terms of bugs etc.)

Eh, we just got a crappy new skill. Short end of the stick, sure, considering there were some cool things that other classes got, but this isn’t the only new skill we’re ever going to get.
Maybe we’ll get the better skill next time, and truthfully (as far as healing skills go) it’s going to be hard to replace consume conditions no matter what the skill is.
Personally, I would just like Flesh Golem to learn how to use his flippers underwater.
No. I won’t make the mistake again. I shouldn’t expect anything awesome for necro and I did the wrong thing for hoping the signet will be at least good in pve for damage buff.

Obligatory “That’s what she said” comment.
Also, I agree, rare drops should stay rare, however, I do like not being required to use a transmutation stone anymore!
I’m in a guild that’s dead on Guild Wars, but very active in other games, and the #1 reason among all of them is that it’s boring.
Given that most of them haven’t even capped (which is easy to do if you know what you’re doing) and that the ones who played during one of the free event never bothered picking up GW2 and purchased other games instead, tells me that perhaps something that most of us level-capped folk of moderate wealth who could craft-grind a character to 80 in hours (because we know how to/can afford to) have forgotten what a chore leveling up the hard (and only readily apparent to new eyes) way is.
I think that some optimization of the leveling experience needs to be had, it seems like most of the additive features (WvW/Dungeons/ect) are conceived to be best experienced when you are high enough level/capped, considering that mental block where someone may not want to try these things because they don’t feel confident that they are powerful enough until then.
These problems are pretty typical across all MMOs of course, but given that there’s a “fast lane” to leveling, would speeding up the “slow lane” be so bad?
To add to this: Everybody hated the heart quests. Everybody.
While I don’t personally feel that they are that bad, I can see how they get tedious when doing one right after the other. Perhaps cutting the qualifiers down by some arbitrary number will make it less of a “not another one” and more of a “ooh an opportunity to make some silver!”

Because they are fun, and I find some of the voice acting amusing. They are temporary content and meant to be treated as such, I’ve skipped out on several living story rewards because I wasn’t interested in the mini/skin.
Also, I find the current living stories to be more interesting than the previous ones. I only liked the final stages of Flame and Frost.
Also, this experiment with living story is a prime example of truly being unable to make everyone happy. I wish other MMOs I played rolled out content (voice acted, no less!) on a biweekly basis, even if it was meant to be temporary. I tend to think of it as “holiday events that are always happening”.
You might just have to change to a beefier spec if you’re going to lone wolf, I haven’t tried it with Bers yet but as I’ve read that’s doable as well, if less forgiving.
I did it first with an Apoth/Dire stat char and then with a Rabid/Dire character, solo, including the instance at the end (not story). If you use a more glassy spec you might want to roll PVT to learn the area first.
I know several Korean MMOs cater to American holidays such as this, although generally those are localized instances specifically for America.
Didn’t they kinda say that of some other patches? and look how they turned out.
Last one that I can remember reading outward enthusiasm about was for the first iteration of SAB, and that was a kitten good patch.
If you would like to complain about inaccessibility to cash shop skins, please attempt to purchase a cash shop skin in another MMO with in-game money, then come back and tell us how that went for you.
Thanks for posting this tip, I was able to solo the viscount down to half before a small group of early-morning players came in and helped kill him off.
With this tidbit of knowledge he’s probably the easiest labby boss atm.
I’ve long thought it was crazy for them to make things like racial armor and faction armor cost gold in the first place.
They are a Goldsink, and one done right, optional and cosmetic-only.
Nope, especially disappointing on the Quaggan, I decided I’m just gonna craft these guys into Carlotta and not pick up the replacment set.
Last years mini pack was much better IMO.
Overall very happy. I love Halloween, and they gave my P/D thief a new toy.
- Small target audience
- Amount of time invested in creating/optimizing the effects and skin to make them “legendary worthy”
- Compare this to profitability of non-restricted items
- No chance in hell
Yes please. Color/Size change, anything that makes it more noticeable as an option would probably be the best quality of life change yet.
Yeah, I’ve seen that ad on everything, including a little internet radio player window that I had up.
It’s cute and I can appreciate it as a GW2 player, but I’m not sure that someone who has no idea what a quaggan is will “take the bait” so to speak.
I feel like small doses of content here and there allows them to be more experimental, I can’t see Super Adventure Box existing in an expansion-type model (and I love SAB).
it’s a little misleading since you can’t actually bunker with this build in sPvP lol.
I also don’t believe that there’s a “Dire Amulet” or runes of Perplexity in SPVP either.
That said, I understand this is meant for WvWvW.
one day we’ll pay for Living Story…
Cosmetic-only content that you have the option of spending in-game currency to acquire causes outrage.
I swear you guys are sheltered from every other MMO on the market, because you obviously aren’t aware of how good you actually have it.
Because they have a business to run. You still have the 60 dollar game you paid for.
It means that they have a very cluttered table.
I never understood why blinding powder was restricted from underwater use.
And on the topic of underwater combat, the options for condition builds leave much to be desired.
Eh, I get plenty of these in WvW without even aiming to, almost enough for my first ascended wep. I’m actually behind in dragonites, lol.
Sheesh, reading through this thread and the grind that people are doing to get these, I’d complain too. Glad I’m getting all of the mats I need without grinding, and just enjoying the game.

I just realized I’m over halfway to having the necessary time-gated loot by just doing my usual world event and WvW routine without even looking up the recipes.
You care too much about what people think. When I go for a cosmetic item it’s not because I think people will be jealous, but because I like the way it looks.
I sometimes imagine that the concern of over another’s opinion about oneself extends from one’s self-absorbed qualities, which means we’ll have a bunch of self-absorbed people who are concerned about what other self-absorbed people think about them.
Would that mean that we’ve got a situation where people are too busy caring about what others think, to actually think about others? GAAAAHHH my head…
I think you’re over thinking this. If SAB is inside of GW2 then it’s part of the game.
Ironically, the only minion with flippers cannot swim.
Frees up some inventory space and is one less thing to be mindful of, so hey, worth it to me from that perspective.
I too find this insulting. Sylvari are clearly not salads, and more closely resemble asparagus sticks with arms and legs.
Those amongst the salad community reject the efforts to try to diminish their varied lifestyles. They are truly the great melting pot of various ingredients both hot and cold, with a conglomerate of ingredients are are certainly not restricted to greens, and in many cases, are not even required to include any leafy vegetables (such as Sylvari) whatsoever.
I’m able to accomplish it when traited repeatedly without issue. I’m on a regular 7200 RPM HDD, perhaps you’ve got a different bottleneck.
I just found what seems to be “working as intended” a little too good, as a necro, you can activate spectral walk, use a waypoint, and then use spectral recall to pull yourself back to the original location.
This shouldn’t be a problem, but when traited you can refill on supply from your keep in WvW and jump back to your original location every 48 seconds if you have a fast computer/connection.
Once I figured out I could use it that way I felt a little bit clever, but then the “this is a bit too good” and “this is likely an exploit” thoughts started creeping in the back of my head, so I stopped, and decided to let you guys know about it.
I’d say just causing Spectral Walk to stop upon waypoint use would fix this without crippling one of the skill’s main attractions because of an unintended “feature”.
I always /shrug
/shrug is OP.
The wings look great with SAB skins though!
If it makes you feel better, I got a Southsun Supply Crate as a drop during the Dragon Bash event.
Underwater combat is a pretty common complaint from condition thieves. The harpoon gun is the “condition” option but even that is better used in the hands of a power spec.
So I roam in WvW and still haven’t encountered one of these things.
I’m really not seeing this as a big deal, I know it’ll suck when I do trip up on one but as it stands I think this trap is a non-issue, and probably a waste of resources for the guy who buys it, only to have it tripped by a non-cloaking class (which I can imagine happens often).
Where is underwater combat going?

DOWN THE DRAIN!

Oh noes, GW2 isn’t another super serious fantasy game.
Quick, get me some foreboding stories and brown textures before I have to launch one of hundreds of other games that fall within my expectations!
If I wasn’t sure before, I know now.
Areanet is best MMO company.
I think those issues of structures is just a matter of how big the hitbox is. It’s probably way bigger on structures/dummies.
Nope, it’s bugged all to hell. It pretty much hits every structure around you, even ones that are offscreen at times. Which is particularly annoying because you’ll be stuck in combat and not sure why.
I can hit all of the portals in the maw event while shooting at the ground.
I’ll have to try it out, but I’m reading this to mean that missing (as in whiffing the air, not evaded) no longer takes a venom charge away, which is pretty nice.
The Mad King event was probably the best event I’ve seen in an MMO. I don’t think the Tixx event was “bad”, simply “average”.
It’s going to take one hell of an event to outdo Mad King.
I’m willing to bet that Skritt like a shiny coat.
