the new nvidia drivers use leess cpu, gw2 is bottlenecked by cpu, theres no arguing the dirvers had a role in the performance increase, i hope when they release a new expansion they bring in a modern game engine as well

This is what I think it is – nothing more.

This game would be hard to bring in a newer engine since they want many players to be able to use older PC’s for this game. Hence why we are stuck with DX 9.0c.

It wasn’t doing this 7th of June.

But I guess that might be the case then.

Still haven’t downloaded the beta for 17th of June might give it a check.

Is it a good idea to use turbo boost?

I personally avoid any form of turbo and just overclock it to the highest I can get it on a stable temperature.

could be. I just got a new computer so I can’t compare to previous results, but benchmarks online suggest I should get 55 FPS on max settings and I get 90-95, even with supersampling. They have stated before they were making ongoing efforts to optimize the server and some optimizations could easily have impacted the client too.

I am absolutely baffled by the performance increase if they did something about it.
First time I can experience gw2 on 60 FPS with everything on max.

The way it should be played.

Edit: was spiking towards 98 in open world aswel now.

Have they changed anything with the patch of 17th of june?

I went from 30-39 on max setting in zerg fights to 60 FPS and 80-90 FPS without large fights.

Running an;
Overclocked FX 8350 (4.5ghz)
DDR3 1600 MHZ (16GB)
Overclocked Asus GTX 760 (1300mhz)

It’s as of recent that my framerate got a huge boost, It wasn’t the Nvidia patch.
before this patch I had the same nvidia patch and the same framerate issues.

well, I’m ALL for removing class stacking. I hate just about any 5x team. 5 bunker guardians, 5 mesmers, 5 warriors, 5 engineer, you name it. Even if it’s beatable it’s almost guaranteed VERY annoying.

Well yes, it can be annoying. It should definitly be something they should be looking at.

I just wonder if we have enough people to do that at the moment.

I mean if they want to balance the rank system out aswel so that you dont get queued with newbies it’ll force limitations aswel.

I’d rather play a 1 min queue pop with more or less the same classes then wait 30 minutes for a game.

PvPers should be the Richest Players.

It depends what you play. But its entirely possible that you cannot stay on point vs a MM necro.

However it may be i think its annoying to play vs one but they arent overpowered in my honest opinion. they do force you to fight off point but you cant really say that a MM necro would be owning you in any other situation

This hotfix isnt any good for mesmers period. Why put no CD on iniatitive abilities?
Its like saying your a thief so your immune to any counterplay done by power block.
Sure 10 seconds on a ini ability is alot. but making it useless vs a class is stupid. specifically because if you trait that deep, one backstab will kitten you up aswel.

You can say that you can interrupt thieves utilities and heals. But lets be honest, they have alot more instant casts then actual 3/4 second casts.

As for the warlock, I haven’t encountered it post patch.

Engis are becoming a problem

Condi engis were a problem before the meta shifted to Hambows etc. But no one used them anymore because of the meta.
The problem was still there.

As most people have been mentioning Balthazar Rune needs a slight tone. Same for Burn as a whole. the damage is out of control for the ticks a burn does.

Just reducing the base condition tick on burn would be enough.
You already gave guardians a % tick increase on it. if it scales properly guardians will not notice a thing.
As for everything else. not much to say.

I don’t think that reducing the strength of burning as a whole would be the most beneficial fix to the current problem. The main issue is that condi engis have taken a whole new level of broken because of balthazar and the sigil changes. Any nerfs to anything but balthazar or sigils with regards to engis would probably harm other classes unintentionally

While it’s really difficult to fix sigils on engis, it’s not the serious issue. Balthazar runes giving a burn duration that was impossible to achieve pre-patch, even with major sacrifices in your build, is the main issue.

There needs to be a swift nerf on a-nets part to these runes. I would take care in calling for nerfs to engis before these are fixed. It simply has too much burn duration in addition to the condi damage. I would hope that they consider nerfing the burn duration to 15%. Even better would be converting balthazar to a power rune like it was previously to prevent the condi it supports from getting out of hand.

With even a 20% burn duration and condi damage balthazar would be overpowered because it would make IP tick for 6 seconds at a 50% total burn duration for explosives engis.

Until they do something, prepare your anus for engis everywhere…

They are alright when i play shatter mesmer =p
I like hiding behind clones really.
I don’t know, I never liked how much flat damage the burns tick for in the first place.

But yes the Balthazar rune is something everyone probably agrees on.

Like if unlock it on my warrior for PvE can i use it on my PvP character?

If not the case, are there any plans to make them like that?
It would be kindof stupid if i would reroll my character for pvp and i have to buy the skills every time.
Not to mention i need 100 skill points for it all the time.

It has already been datamined that there are new WvW skills incoming.
Regarding this issue when you finish someone they are forced to return to the waypoint.
in that case i personally think its your own fault to not finish them and just zerg them.

Besides that I don’t see the problem with it, if you palce your own scouts around if someone remains dead around the map he won’t be very mobile to even know where your blob is going or able to use sieges in the tower.
You call it to your zerg, if the enemy has a decent zerg you will not even enter the portal.
Your scouts that remain alive can.

Were fighting SFR now in the match up and they’ve had to team up with JS to win, Blackgate would wipe the floor with SFR, its actually worrying these are the number 1 server in the EU

You are too funny, maybe you are to kitten to realize we wipe Jade Sea in 5-7 seconds of even engaging them.
They cower inside their garri with ACs.
There’s not much to fight when your enemy is scared of you and not willing to take the fight to you.
They just take advantage of the situation that’s all.

Take your argument to Jade Sea don’t come cry about how Seafarer does this and that.
Grow up.

I think I understand/agree with your comment.

Adminstrivia functions are for guilds or those with altruistic personalities.

Every server has the individuals who voluntarily perform such duties as scouting, watching, and/or objective maintenance. And then there are the guilds where it is a function of service to perform such duties and such is assigned or rotated. And then there is the reality that it often simply does not get done.

There is a bunch of math offstage that makes this crystal clear.

Yeah well, I’ve been doing it for 19 hours myself since reset.
And it’s just obvious the moment you sleep people just let the sieges go. The biggest problem with this is, I do all this work. and the sieges dissapear the moment you go off.
You even ask for people to do it, but you simply wouln’t care.
Ignorance is bliss and it gets even more obvious in a season that you don’t want these kind of people around all the veteran players and commanders would seriously take the duties of scouting and escorting or refreshing.
But you got like 50-60% of the players that are just bandwagon and just dont contribute.

There are indeed guilds doing it properly.
The biggest issue is that if you got a big queue there will be problems specifically about getting those guilds in.

I for one think if they remove the current lootbag system and change it into something else we will see a incredible change.
They might even focus on scouting.
Just the system shouldn’t promote afking, which is something i doubt is possible at the moment.
Maybe even give a hourly reward cycle for event contribution like escorting dollies add one for refreshing sieges.

honestly I like that idea, once you hit 80 you get dragon finisher, but after that you get rank 10 rabbit again but with increase in points necessary to get it.

That would mean that you wouldn’t get matched up with people with the same rank, if the system couldn’t identify who has been rank 80 before. I think that a seperate system from the ranks, like prestige would be better

I’m not even sure matchmaking works that way when i get matched up with ranks below mine.

Like in WvW you get Normal, Bronze, Silver, Gold Invader etc.

Why not do the same with PvP and just give everyone the opportunity to get the finishers, but at the same time create the actual means to go on towards something else.
I’m sure players like OE who already hit near 4 million will atleast feel something as of rewarded for their time spend in the game.
I myself am near 5k hours played, but OE is at 5.4k played already
With the way the ranks go on like that it would mean he would be recieving something in return for his time spend in PvP.
(OE as in Ostrich Egg)

Not like you need to make the Dragon Finisher gold or something, but the option would be viable.
Or even add an aura to the finisher.

Maybe even reward them with actual Rank up reward chests with the increase in prestige.

This is a well deserved nerf, and a very balanced way to change it.
It shouldn’t be a iWin button.
It should be when do i cleanse my abilities by using my Elite.
As for what it changes, you can do the checkup on what changes into what.

As for the rune breaking your build is just flawed, I can see plenty of thieves using other runes.

Sizer is playing S/D thief I’m sure you can see him play a proper S/D if you think you will bump into problems after the patch hits.

But who knows, from the looks of it the meta might actually shift into something different after the patch.

Excuse me but in prime time during week we have Always less than 40 on borders and less than 90 on EB.

At 18:00-19:00 GMT+1 you can even enter a queueless border and get in EB quite fast with 10-20 queues maximum in 1-2 borders

On other servers you see 200+

And i see lot of guild raids of 10-20

In season 1 i refused to play due to the unbearable queues.
On the Weekend its a different story ofcourse.

P.S. if there is a thing i Always hated is that nobody on sfr helps with ruins, nor in season as in normal matchups…..i really have an opposite experience….

I don’t think you realize I play on Seafarer and see the same queues you have.
With the freaking EBG being 250+
and the freaking Home border being 150+
with the other borders popping between 80=100

Now at the end of the first matchup its not as unbearable but over the past course of weekend it was terrible.
And it will be the same story on Friday.

Something tells me you aren’t really one of the veteran.
If you actually board the meetings you know the issues.
You also know that we have had a freaking mini zerg running achievements on the ruins.

On SFR the short queues still makes guild raids possible.

I geuss you are massively trolling or something? =p
It’s impossible to get guilds in most of the time if you aren’t in time.
You best queue 2-3 hours before you even try it.
If anything we have 15-25 people running ruins for achievements.
That Vizunah loses has nothing to do with our numbers.

The transfers made it unplayable, period.

The achievement hunters would’ve been here regardless.
I hope arena-net learns from this season and removes these achievements.

I don’t know on what server you play, but if you have 3 map blobs running into the same place you are bound to get skill lag, sometimes you cant cast anything except skill 1 .
So please don’t tell the OP poster it is his connection.
That doesn’t contribute anything to the thread except trolling the rest of the community.

Yes, same story. But a little after the First season ended. Since the server is so incredibly dead. Now i still get contributed for the same server, from what the historian tells me. Don’t understand what this is about.

Not only do the above classes lack good AoE for WvW, they also lack any form of build diversity.

It can be argued that both would be ideal to pick off people from a backline, but when a elementalist meteor shower do so much more damage then a single attack of either class can uphold i’d really want to see some sort of change.
Taking a mesmer for their Glamour abilities and portals seems ok though, just they seem to lack good AoE which is argueable bound to weapons.
Staff is ok when it comes to that, but as much as it is it’s got limited targets it can hit.

Meteor shower on the other hand can hit 5 people per meteor and it can do ALOT of damage.

It can be argued that mesmers are worth taking, but i wouln’t consider a ranger as viable as a thief or as a engineer.
The class doesn’t even have any form of utility that really benefits the group.
You have a water field, but so do engineers and they bring blast finishers.
Thieves are so much better to pick off people from the backline and finish them rather then a ranger.
There’s not a single ranger that would even consider running warhorn for that matter aswel, so I truely believe that it’s the kind of player that gets attracted to playing a ranger aswel that more or less focuses around selfless playing.
But other then a warhorn and a waterfield there’s not much they can bring in a big WvW encounter.

The spirits aren’t exactly that great at staying alive. If I want blinds I’ll take necro wells to blast on. Protection can be applied by a guardian aswel.
Mud field can be great to get that 1 second in to dish out some AoE damage, but again, this is very limited to a small amount of players.
I do not consider entangle a good pick for WvW, considering the damage that is being done in WvW you will be wasting a 180s CD on something that can be destroyed and last 1 or 2 seconds.

I personally think out of all the classes rangers are the only class that need major fixing for certain parts of the game.

I do feel rangers can be okay in PvP, specifically if you pick up a good build it can be deadly to roam with because of the damage.

The spirit rangers can be very annoying, but also way too easy to play.

PU mesmers do remain pretty stable to roam with aswel in either WvW or PvP.
But, the build diversity ends as much there as it started.
There’s not alot you can play your mesmer with at the moment.

Strange, that occurs frequently when the graphic card overclocks by too much.

I’ve had that before when I had an older overclocked card.

Wouldn’t be possible that a R200 would have heating issues on a game like GW2 though?

Was planning on getting a R290 but after seeing this I’m not really convinced on getting one, can anyone else give some insight?

Defense Against Guard , Guard Killer
Those are the best in my opinion. They will allow you to build your character more diverse making it possible to drop some power or vitality for crit or whatever else you feel like building.

Besides that i really like , Supply Mastery and Build master after i’ve unlocked the guard buffs.

Preferly even put 1 point into Build master since it will speed up building sieges by alot.

I’ve come across multiple thieves and necromancers now that kindof warp, And I’m not on about the wurm or death shroud.
Or even shadowstep.

But actual teleporting from point A to B then suddenly going to C and E in just a second of time.

Even though they end up dieing, I don’t understand what’s causing it. One necromancer got away with it because of it.

Maybe it’s sort of not true to call it a hack but it’s pretty odd that the lag kicks in the moment they have to flee.
I’ve managed to catch up to a bunch of them because of leaps so far but I’m seeing it increasining as of late.

Atleast, for me it happens more often as of late.
And, as the guy above me stated it’s ussually the people that avoid zerging and just flip.

If it is the case of being considered cheating I can’t but look down upon it.

I’ve had expierence with hackers from past games like Counter Strike with the Anti Cheat software catching them blatantly half of the time after reviewing the screenshots.
But, this is a whole other thing.
I’m no expert on how it works in a MMO like GW2, but saying it’s not present in the game would be wrong.
There’s not a single game out there not being plagued by cheaters or hackers.

In my opinion, it just spoil it for roamers and scouts in WvW if they cheat.
it makes it increasingly harder to catch them or deal with them.

Recently when i started using warhorn I found that any kind of warhorn actually goes straight through the leg of the character.

No idea if this was present before, but it does look like it’s an animation bug rather than anything else.

You don’t deal good AoE damage like a Elementalist or a Necromancer.

You don’t bring as much fields as other classes except for your healing spring.

you aren’t as good on a frontline as a warrior or a guardian.

For the other parts you can most likely fill in the blanks.

Rangers just don’t have a strong position in WvW right now.
Can’t even think of a Roaming ranger that beats me on any other class.
Sure they can be played in tPvP and PvE but it’s just weak for WvW.
Even when it comes down to PvP you just have these lame builds running around twerking and spamming spirits.

So yeah, when WvW guilds hate rangers you can pretty much put the blame on class design.

I personally haven’t played ranger for 7 months.

I play a warrior, guardian necromancer and elementalist, thief and engineer for WvW
But as far as rangers goes, I wouln’t want to roam with it either.

Doubtfully, still need everyone to buy pet ogres and elemental dust for elementals but we got to 45%~~
Although maybe we couldve killed amber since the dps was really good while we still had 1 minute because of the bugged stomach bug.

When entering everything on Head phase people inside the stomach stay inside the stomach for some reason.

We cant get out unless we die wasting nearly a minute waiting for downed state to wear off.

Yeah, it is really well designed. I enjoyed thisit alot.
If they add more bosses like the ones we see currently they would need to add more increments to visit those bosses again.

I know it’s not a breaking point, I for one enjoy WvW and PvP alot more then casual PvE but boss fights like marionette would be amazingly fun to do besides that.
I know this one is temporary where as the great wurms is permanent.
But, the marionette has mechanics that could fit well together into a permanent boss.

I’m not saying the design as is currently should go into a permanent package.
But it could definitly be done another time.

I don’t mind tequatl, but seriously once you beat it it’s not as much fun anymore to do again and again.
Same would probably go for the 3 wurms.

The mechanics are a lot of fun, but it requires way too much coordination sometimes.
Which, is fine. Especially for guilds that want to do them and they should stay.

But, we should really see more boss fights like marionette pop up where server groups that are a little bit less organized could still manage to beat it if they pull it together.

WHILST at the same time having a bit more hardcore ones like the 3 wurms for organized large guild groups.

I think they should just replace rapid fire with a old guild wars skill called dual shot .
Put it on cd of 2.50s cd when you trait it and fire 2 shots at the same time and keep the vurnerability on hit. meaning you will hit approx 8 times if you dont manage to get out dodged instead of shooting 10 arrows in a row that can be line of sighted.
Changing the rangers skillcap is impossible but changing the skills to something that requires some planning is so much better.
That way you might actually hit the ´´rapid fire´´ and still deal damage on a steady basis.
As for the Barrage. They should consider lowering the time it takes to cast at the cost of lowering the duration the barrage takes. Also reducing the cooldown on the skill just about slightly
That way you have it off cooldown earlier, cast it faster and actually deal the damage without getting scrapped into something for having to cast it for too long.
You should be able to provide the player with options between the 5 skills he has, not like most of the situations you see now where as shortbow just turns skillcapped at turning auto attack on.

Which is why I personally think changing
2 Forked Shot Fire Two shots at the same time on a (when traited 2.5 second cooldown
Meaning you initially fire 8 shots on target imposed to the rapid fire that ends up being line of sighted or someone running or dodging behind you just cancelling it.
Keep the vurnerability, would help to build up overal damage.

3 – I feel like the stealth is very viable for getting out of a dangerous situation not to mention with having a immobilize or a daze at your disposal that includes a cripple from your 4 (If changed)

Either remove the knockdown and replace it with a Daze and add Cripple to it.
Or, add an immobilize with a cripple. Longbow hardly has any real way of staying at range, and it should be allowed for the ranger to do so by having a useful utility at his disposal. He can´t deal real damage from his Rapid Fire anymore since his damage changed to sustain with the Forked Shot so being rooted in place or actually dazed wouln´t punish him so much for getting caught.
But it still gives the ranger a viable option to use his longbow without popping his Sword/? to go defensive and remain in that state for the duration of the fight.

5 – Barrage lower cooldown / lower cast time / lower AoE period

I wouln´t know how bad the change on the Rapid Fire is for pveers, but I presume you have to dodge every now and then aswel or run away for that matter.

Hey, Conncept.

If you think about it, condition damage was actually improved in my proposed ideas. Let’s take a closer look:

  • Flamestrike would still apply around the same burning duration per casting time spent, but the self might-stacking will make conditions stronger.
  • Dragon Tooth would have extra support, so its burning application will become a bit more reliable.
  • Shatterstone would now apply torment, even if for only a little while.
  • The fire field -> hurl combo could be reversed, making it more versatile, and thus easier to apply burning from projectile finishers.

I think the potential for a might-stacking, power/ condition damage setup is also there!

Otherwise, I have to make a question:

  • Is it such a good idea to have elementalist’s weapons to be entirely hybrid?

If anything, the lack of specialization is more of a drawback.

Scepter, especially, is entirely built around: 1. instant bursting (Lightning Strike, Hurl), 2. high skill/ high reward burst skills (Dragon’s Tooth, Phoenix), damage buffs (vulnerability, might) and some defenses.

For this reason, I feel that Scepter should be more specialized at what it already does. Still, like I said, the potential for power/ condition damage setups is also there.

I have to say i generally like the changes noted, and might even consider playing a scepter build that isn´t zerker. Although as is now, I´m not even bothered with playing scepter just sticking to a D/D build that generally feels a bit more tanky to stay at close range.

Tornado really needs an improvement yes.
If you were to compare it to that of a necromancers plague it´s just not going to work properly, we won´t do enough damage to mitigate the damage they can deal to us aswel just by being in the tornado.

They get the blinds weakness from it. Also it grants them about
Health 18320, Armor 2328, Power 616.

Tornado:
Sure we get knocks
Health 9160, Crit damage 44, power 1662

I suppose this could be very useful if you have any ongoing AoE from whatever you had.
But wouln´t it be significantly be more useful if we could use it defensively instead.
I mean, why even bother using it the damage coming from the tornado itself isn´t even that high.
You´re solely relying on the Meteor Storm or whatever else you popped.

In all honesty I don´t even use Cantrips on my ele.
Maybe cantrips are popular with new players because they need to learn how to play it, but effectively arcane blast arcane shield have alot of useful sides to it.
Not to mention the fact you can use arcane shield offensive and defensive.

Signet of air is definitly used by some elementalists since in combat movement speed is reduced to a point that signet and swiftness stack up ontop of eachother which grants you faster movement.

Speed buffs don’t stack.

Glyph of storms can be useful in WvW.

I have never encountered a situation where it was useful. I suppose it’s only me then.

As for why Arcane blast needing a buff beats me, It´s a free blast finisher and a nice damage boost on top of the damage you already have. Plus it´s an instant cast.

Arcane blast is a projectile skill, arcane wave is a blast finisher and the skill you’re thinking about. Skill names shouldn’t be causing this kind of confusion no matter what game.

Although i really like the 6s weakness from the signet itself, the ease as where people can remove conditions at the moment pretty much renders it useless.
It could really use a change, won´t be seeing condition removal recieving a change anytime soon.

What skill are you talking about and what signet causes 6 seconds of weakness??

I personally think elementalists wouln´t be needing much of a change if they ever so decide to shave some of the top tier classes in the current meta.
2 in particular for PvP , for as far as WvW goes, unless I´m roaming I´ll probably be running around with a staff anyway…

To answer your question regarding not needing much change, no. If you build your elementalist right and you dont end up getting stunlocked for days I´m pretty sure your fine.
Atleast for D/D it´s possible and you can still dish out the right damage.

If you want to sacrifice some of your damage on Scepter build I´m sure there´s possibilities of receiving more survivability.
It´s like a power necromancer either you snowball or you just get snowballed.
Don´t see how running a build like that should even receive survivability until they actually deal less damage.
They shaved off the initiative on thieves aswel.

So yeah, the way hambows are dominating most of the fights at the moment makes it pretty hard to run an ele that doesn´t have stability.

yes, if you play all the classes for a year and a half long you can mix up a ´´word´´ in the name of a utility skill. :/

For all of you who think Ele is not OP think again…. they have access to 45 skills in one build with 4 conjures 4 attunements and they have immune to condies stab on 10s CD most burn uptime for any class

I don’t know at what level you are pvping but the only thing viable at the moment is bursting with a scepter ele.
And even that requires an insane amount of coordination to play.
You won’t be doing that damage if you’re focused.
I mean really, who lets a Scepter elementalist unleash all that burst for free?

I know guild wars 2 can be a total cluster kitten sometimes, but you really should be checking it out.

Sure you can go Staff ele aswel, but are you really going to tell me that’s viable without running it zerk?

You can also go tanky D/D but that seems fairly balanced, you are pretty tanky deal decent damage.

I think there is no need to point out the obvious even more. When Anet hasn’t realized it yet that eles are seriously struggling then they never will.

In b4 PvP-heroes claiming that ele is ok because it has imba burst …

I personally think it should be the same story as with necromancers.

Sacrifice some burst for survivability.

I wouldn’t tolerate a Scepter Elementalist with more survivability and still dishing out the damage it can currently do.

As it is now, they are squishy and easy to kill if focused, if they get more survivability it’s going to be hell.

Well, I’m seeing alot more staff eles pop up. It’s just staff elementalist has always been useless in sPvP it would require coordination which doesn’t have a place in solo Q in my honest opinion.

With the new changes to the elementalist it does seem to be viable, but don’t beat on a dead stick for players still stuck in the fact that it was something you would never take.

As for the raging at each other.
I haven’t come across a single game out there that has a competitive setting in mind that doesn’t have this.

If you play Solo Queue or Team Queue your just going to end up with this.
I’m not going to tell you to play Hot join, I’m just going to tell you the above and be done with it.
