Maybe with other forms of might stacking, but relying solely on str runes/sigil will only net you like 10 might.

I’ve never been a fan of scholar runes or night sigils, but that’s just me. You’re not doing anything to warrants that level of give a crap. You’re not going to sit there making spreadsheets to kill a moa .06% faster than before.

I’ll share my build, being that the only legendary i own is the flameseeker prophecies i had to make a build up somehow haha. I call this build unyielding serenity! (corny i know haha)

I utilize the swords multi attacks to stack up burn quickly. The main cool point of the build is meditations heal the crap out of you and they provide good fury upkeep. While using a 1h weapon against a burning target (always) you have a +25% crit chance, so add fury to that and you’re at 100% crit chance. With super veggie pizza i’m at 90% burn duration. I use celestial trinkets and weapons because this build can effectively use all stats, especially healing power (four self heals, five if you include shield 5.) I use berserker armor, but i suppose vipers could be better to use until you get that last 10% burn duration. I personally don’t think it’s necessary.

I use scepter/torch when i want to stack bloodlust or if i need to hang back. I’d say i spend 80% of my time using sword/shield. Scepter benefits from the same crit bonuses mentioned above. You could play with the sigils a bit imo, but i’ve played around with different ones and this is the setup i found to be most useful. The flame legion rune is pretty much required.

It’s a very mobile build, i love being able to dash around the battlefield. I will say i just pulled this build out of my kitten one day, trying to find a fun way to use a shield. My original intention was to switch to dragonhunter after getting my hero points, but i like this build too much now. It’s VERY survivable and it does pretty decent damage. It’s really good for HoT content or soloing in general. My only complaint is i wish i had more HP with the guardian, but i suppose that’s a balance issue (sits at around 17k hp, due to celestial. However, you do have 3 powerful condi cleanses.)

P.S. While in a party switch stalwart defender trait over to strength in numbers, but stalwart is much better while solo. Hope you like my build haha.

yes it’s intended, it interrupts lick wounds one of the best downed abilities out there. so there’s a sacrifice.

yeah i’m 100% sure they won’t give you a way to not use a pet. i could see taking on aspects of your active pet, but the pet itself is not going away.

please jesus guide them on their path of fixing this issue. be the light at the end of the hallway and lead them down the path of developer righteousness.

I suppose I can understand some of the complaints about this issue since GWAMM is definitely a huge grind to get, but some of the “fix” suggestions I’ve seen in this thread are just way over the top.

I occasionally create new toons just to farm transmute charges (100% city exploration gives you a charge for minimal time & effort with no risk). I had no idea this bug was even a thing until I did a few transmute-farming runs and suddenly I had some AP I didn’t have before (I was between AP chests so it didn’t give me enough for the next level). Then I discovered the title bug here in forums, looked and sure enough I had GWAMM in the available options. Since I already had 36 HoM points, the only things the bug gifted me was maybe a week’s worth of AP and an unearned title I don’t care about anyway.

Should I be banned or have all of the rewards which I did earn removed? Of course not, but some of the revert suggestions here would amount to that. If the title and AP get pulled, no great loss because once I had earned the tangible benefits I didn’t care enough to keep grinding for the title. The ranger pets are just skins since none of them have unique mechanics and a week’s worth of AP isn’t even worth worrying about IMO, but yes I understand that some people got much more than that due to AP reward levels. As long as the AP reward chests are once-per-account, leaving them alone and just reverting the total AP count seems to be the most reasonable fix.

I can totally sympathize with the people who are complaining about not being able to get their legitimate rewards, though. The free-to-apply heritage skins are nice to have while you’re leveling a toon so you don’t look like a scrub until Lv80, and the Fiery Dragon Sword is ‘the brightest light source in the game for the wielder’ (plus it’s the only one a warrior or thief can use).

tl;dr — By all means revert the unearned title and AP and re-enable the HoM, but going beyond that seems like curing the disease by killing the patient.

There is zero chance you will be banned for this.

Speaking of pets, were they just joking about bears getting a buff during the livestream, or are they actually looking into buffing pets that are of little to no use (that would be most of them)? More so than just working on their AI. If that’s the case, it seems like the ranger is gaining A LOT from these changes.

That’s a good question, I would love a little bit more dps out of the bear (and other pets). Making the f2 taunt trait more appealing. I think no matter what the ranger will end up in a better place than it is, im excited.

This bug may turn out to be something positive for many people. There have been a number of times that it would have been useful for support to be able to remove items from the wardrobe or be able to unbind items accidentally bound. They have always said they lacked the tools or do so and this bug is making ANet make these tools.

Your blame is misplaced, it’s actually the keymaster’s fault…

People that didn’t own gw1 still got the title using the exploit. It had nothing to do with gw1. This all came with the patch that has to be considered the buggiest patch in history. People are also receiving free deluxe editions. Maybe they just want to give kitten out for free now? Who knows…….i think anet needs to spray their dev team down with some heavy duty bug spray. I’m talking 100% DEET.

I would explore melee. GS/S ranger has access to many defensive/mobility skills and high burst. For leveling everyone usually rolls LB/GS with a cat/bear. I leveled with GS/A and an eagle/devourer, i’m not meta enough to care.

There’s also always running a condition build with dire/settlers prefix items, very hard to kill. You just whittle them down. edit: condition builds tend to suck for leveling in open world.

Luckily for you the ranger can build to be pretty tanky. The damage of the ranger is nerfed a little to offset for having a pet. I forget exactly how much it’s estimated at (~30%?) but that reduces the overall damage loss when using tankier builds, compared to say a thief. As your pet will always have the same stats and do the same damage, pet stats are not based on the rangers. Tanky beastmaster builds would obviously take advantage of this factor even more.

greatsword is your friend in open world.

you can however go afk as a ranger, whatever your pet kills is his business.

My main worry is them removing the title from those who didn’t earn it, lets hope they get on that.

All spirits will have a base 75% proc chance and maul will never ever become a blast finisher because it would be OP on such a short CD. So I would cross those two off.

I submit, for your perusal, this skill. Mighty Blow it is a blast finisher on a 5 second CD, 1s less than Maul.

not to mention mighty blow does significantly more damage AND has more range than maul (220 vs 300). It’s literally better in every way…….except the 5 stacks of vulnerability.

The title is not deceiving, look at the OP… This thread is not about the HoM being down.

there was a thread about HoM being down along with this one about the issue of the title. they were consolidated into one thread (this one) by the moderators around april 3rd. see page 5 toward the bottom of this thread. so technically, yes, the title is misleading. please read the entire thread if you are concerned with the issue. thanks.

The only end game content that is roadblocked by gear or skill in this game is high level fractals. So if that’s your focus then right on, work on it. sPvP and WvW are do it until you learn it. There is no dungeon/world boss in this game that can’t be accomplished with a “non-meta group.” (except maybe those kitten three worms haha).

Meta is a term used by people obsessed with speed and efficiency (myself included). Meta does not mean access to content in guildwars 2. This world is your oyster, don’t let mob mentality stop you from playing whatever content you want to do. Veteran players are always willing to help new players in dungeons. Play your ranger, try all weapons, go for world exploration, do what ever the kitten you want to do.

greatsword auto attack definitely needs improvement, i don’t understand why the “community” decided otherwise.

I hate bow classes, in every game. But the ranger is the only class in this game i have stuck with. An axe is as far as i’ll go in the ranged department.There’s just something amazingly fun about swinging around a giant greatsword with my pet in tow. When it was announced what weapons the ranger was able to use during the beta i knew it was the class for me.

So I’ve been roaming a lot on my condition ranger and while it is certainly fun, it is an extremely poor roamer and i’m finding myself failing because of the limitations of the class rather than the limits of my skill.

GUILDwars 2. This might need a fix.

My HoM calc still updated while i was earning points. I even received my closer to the stars title while all of this has been going down, vendor locked. So maybe the difference is what stage of fixing this they are in, hopefully!?

it’s just so annoying when i watch videos of the devs sitting there playing new content and promoting the new expansion while they ignore their bugs section. some of the bugs in this forum are 7 MONTHS OLD.

i wonder if people watching those videos that haven’t bought the game yet might change their minds if they knew the lack of bug support this game has right now.

Ranger pets STILL attack when you use their ability, even when Passive. So again, you have to micro-manage the pet.

Personally, I never send my pet in to fight because they are absolutely USELESS and die instantly. It’s there to buff me with Might (Junglestalker) and heal me (Fern Hound) that’s all! I do not want my pet dying, it needs to remain at my side.

I am fed up of using it’s “F2” skill to gain a boon, and then having to spam “F3” over and over to recall it back to me so it doesn’t die instantly!

Why wasn’t this fixed?

Also, why can we still not hide pets in combat?

the pet isn’t just meant to be your personal boon dispenser, if that’s how you use it you’re going to have to get used to spamming f3. if you have a logitech or razr mouse use a macro.

it should have been evenly distributed amongst the people! we are hungry!

I haven’t logged in since this bug hit. I am waiting for the fix to decide whether I want to come back or not.

You could be waiting a few days or you could be waiting months. If this is the reason you aren’t going to play, then I have to ask, what is the reason you want to play?

The only reason I ever wanted to play GW2 was because of the time I spent in GW1.
I feel this bug is devaluing the 10,000 hours I spent in GW1 right now. Arenanet’s actions involving this is going to be the deciding factor of whether I come back or not.

Pretty valid reason if you ask me. The people here complaining aren’t brand new players with this issue being the deciding factor on if we stick with this game or not. We are veteran players, who have spent both time and money on both gw and gw2. I bet i can speak for Torvarren when i say we had a lot of fun on both. But not only is our time/money spent trivialized it’s also restricted and they have put the issue aside.

If it doesn’t affect you, that’s great, but it kittenes some people off. You might not understand why, but then why are you here? If you got the title without earning it, cool, rock it while you can.

Very possible considering that was the method of acquiring the title. I guess that gives them one more reason to fix this issue.

People making new characters and completing a certain story quest after the patch randomly received max guildwars 1 titles. Giving them the title “God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals” and the HoM/Achievement points that come with it. So they have closed down the vendor until they remove the title and benefits from those who received them illegitimately.

Unfortunately i too earned HoM points the day this all went down here i am waiting for my white raven
