OK so it appears to have succesfully transferred me back to my home server, it just never gave an indication and I had to force quit out. I came back after a trip to the store to try again and found myself in my server of choice. So it worked, but not like it used to. Still, thanks for the quick fix…

You do know there is a limit of one transfer per 24 hours, right?

this is an issue that occurs after pressing the Transfer button. that button doesnt exist if you are within the 24 hour wait time. My last transfer was three days ago, to finish my world completion, and now I am trying to rejoin the server I started on.

How to use the commander?

in WvW

Posted by: Nuprin Feelgood.9257

Nuprin Feelgood.9257

If you have spent the 100g to buy the book, you become a commander.

This gives you a blue icon on the map, which can be seen by all. Useful when you are trying to get people to your location. You can also create Squads of up to 30 people, by using the Squad invite, which is on the same tab as the party invite button.

Squad commanders can use the map to place waypoints (Although these are not the ones you teleport to) and specific commands, e.g. to designate a regroup location or the area to begin an attack.

Does the render error also affect those who are portaled?

No, and that is the problem. The invisible man comes in, pops a portal from stealth and a horde appears, but you cant see them or target them, and by the time you can see them you’re probably dead. The worst is when it is exploited for this very effect…

I would support some kind of timer, or if the portal disappeared when the memer was downed.

in any event it needs to get fixed.

I think all the map completion stuff needs to get out of WvW. People are queueing up to get in while people inside the maps are just climbing vistas and running between POI’s. If you are in the map you should be fighting for your server and nothing else.

When I ran the Obsidian Sanctum I was in the chandelier room with a couple folks from both of the other servers. we didnt grief eachother, since we all just wanted to get it done and move on. Some days it is different. I do agree that while attacking in the puzzle is OK, siege weapons are not cool.

Since I doubt they will rebuild the maps, and since the height advantage of the northern garrison gives one server a distinct advantage in attacking the Castle, the best solution would be just to decrease Treb distance by 2-5%. It wouldnt change the way we use trebs in 99% of the other cases, but it would fix that one problem.

And we know that there are ways of counter attacking the trebs wihtout knocking down the walls and getting in the keep, but they take a good deal of effort, and it is unquestionable that there is an advantage to those treb positions.

As for the Latin guilds, yeah there are often folks off doing their own thing. We have a lot of latin folks on our Server, and that is Bueno. They are a good bunch of players, and they do their best to keep track of what is happening. That is why it is best to use POI’s or Waypoints that can be map linked when we need troops somewhere fast, that way in any language people can click and see where they need to go.

When one server has an advantage that the other two servers do not have, then it should be adressed, this would be the simplest way. And even a 2% decrease would do it.

Nuprin Feelgood.9257

This is a simple fix, just decrease the range of Trebs by 5%. Trebs have too much range, they are being set up deep inside keeps and launching at another keeps walls. It is particularly bad on the Eternal Battlegrounds map, where the northern server has the ultimate high ground and can hit the walls of Stonemist Castle from behind two layers of protective walls. It would also help fix the problem of camping the spawn points with Trebs.

Trebs should be portable siege artillery, used in the field and defended to be useful. This castle to castle application takes away from the game.

Nuprin Feelgood.9257

This has been a good matchup, but Anet screwed up by not rotating the colors on this second go around.

They also need to slightly lessen the range on trebs. Being able to plant trebs deep inside the northern keep and have them hit the walls of the castle is a distinct advantage. Nobody else has the high ground to do this. And DH has had this advantage for a second week in a row, and they make full use of it. Trebs are meant to be portable siege weapons, not castle to castle assault tools.

Also like to thank SoR for wasting all that gold with the 10 golem zerg that hit us today, which we barely fought off. Good stuff.

This is a great matchup. Sorrows Furnace has learned a lot having comparable foes to fight, as I imagine the other servers have as well.

I am not against the implementation of a procedure that decreases supply and raises prices. I suppose I was a bit heavy handed in my OP about how the change in materials prices would affect the lowere levels. I can see it has a reciprocal effect in allowing them to make some extra coin.

My greatest irritation comes only from the development team choosing an approach to correction that was not uniformly fair to the gaming population. I am not adverse to specualtion, I understand the early bird gets the worm and all that.

But the foks at Anet have a responsibility to fairness across all levels. There was no crisies here, another day of consideration and they may have been able to make a correction without having it be so deliberatley (or unintentionally) skewed.

What truly needs to happen is a correction to the drop rates that caused the glut in the first place. All in all this was one knee jerk reaction to another misstep with the cooking patch. But I am confident that the team at Anet will get it all sorted out. They are doing a fantastic job so far, present guffaws not included, and in the future I hope they will consider their actions a bit more carefully.

I disagree with how John Smith, the Anet economist, implemented a plan today to dump the excess quantities of certain goods by giving away a new recipie on the Mystic Forge that was skewed toward higher level players, and those players that were fortunate enough to get on right when it went into effect.

I believe he should have made no correction, or if tampering with the free market was really necessary, then it should have been more fair to the entire popultation.

So what they did was take a surplus of bottom tier crafting materials, which could have helped all the new low level players get their early crafting tiers done, and they gave recipies that only players level 68 or above had a chance at using cost effectively.

They passed the surplus goods to these higher level toons, who then profited off them, and that drove the price of all the bottom tier crafting materials to ten times their previous level.

HOW did this help the game?

John Smith should know, if he really is an economist, that overt manipulation of the Market is always more disruptive then waiting for a natural correction.

At the very least there should be a short mission where you go in and meet with the major story players, perhaps with a shot of Zhaitan in the distance, menacing and waiting. With a clear sequence of dialogue that provides a measure of closure to the personal part of the storyline while making the case for the neccesity of a team to complete it.

Then at least the shock of marching all the way to the map point to find that you can’t do anything would be less disappointing.

Adjusted Level vs Actual Level and Quest Rewards

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Even at ‘actual level’ loot does not seem to scale at the same price as costs.

I am sure this is an attempt by Anet to make sure that the game is not overrun with gold, and in the beginning it is probably best to err on the safer ‘poor’ side of loot drops.

But I would like to see future tweaking to the loot system so that as we progress in levels, we see a proportional increase in loot prices that is greated than what we get now.

And yes I agree that there is room to improve the actual vs. adjusted rewards.

Map Completion Rewards

Nuprin Feelgood.9257

I love this game, and I think Anet is doing a terrific job.

I have one complaint. Map completion rewards.

This is one area where you put in a lot of time and effort to get the reward, and the randomness (or coy vindictiveness) of the reward can be very very frustrating.

Case in point, on my Elementalist I have completed roughly half the maps in the game, and on 90% of the reward drops, I recieved weapons and armor completely unusable by my class. Or I recieve a materials drop contrary to my chosen crafting discipline.

I understand that I can just sell it for coin, or pass it off to an alt. It is just a disheartening thump to my morale that after working hard to get a map done, I dont have the option to choose a piece of loot I can use.

It would not be a hard thing to adjust, we already get these choices with story mission rewards. I am just saying that for something that requires so much time and effort, something more than a purely random drop could be devised.

Travel cost at higher lvls

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nuprin Feelgood.9257

I agree that the travel costs are too high, and particularly because the loot drop prices do not scale appropriately with level increases.

I would be fine with the increased costs, and I use WP’s a lot, if I knew that I could spend some time killing and looting to get a fair value in loot.

As it is now, I spend the days moving all around Tyria, for events, for my guildmates, working on map completion, farming for mats…and I basically break even or lose money each day. I then have to spend a few hours standing at the TP and working it the best I can to get a couple gold to make me feel better.

I dont play this game for the TP. So it would be nice to be able to play the game with my friends and still make a small profit.

Scale of loot is the solution, but I wouldnt cry over a slight decrease in travel prices either.

This may be an effort by Anet to get people to buy Gems and open bag slots, but that doesnt seem lkely, and in any case the cost of an extra 8 slot bag slot is cheaper than buying the runes. At lvl 80, every time you fill your experience bar you get a skill point. Since reaching 80 I have avquired at least another 10 SP’s just by continuing to play and filling that bar over and over. The WvW zones are also a fresh batch of easy SP’s every day.

I’m not sure that too many are aware of the SP vendor, and if they were they might not have spent SP’s on skills they never use. SO choose wisely and save those SP’s…

I think most people arent even paying attention…they go to list an item, and see the current lowest sellers, and because they want to sell it now they undercut that price. This continues over and over until the price hits bottom. Too much junk is for sale on the market to begin with, and most of it at a pointless price that nets no real profit over vendor for the seller. But it is carelessness and laziness that cause it. And nothing will ever change that. Hopefully over time these people get tired of never selling anything and always losing money in fees, and the market corrects. But I think we are still a few months away from that.

While the in game chat workaround is useful, it would indeed be nice to just be able to right click and preview an item from the TP. no need to clutter up chat for previews.
