Siege Disabler

in WvW

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

I just wanted to suggest something simple for fixing the siege disable grenade. Most already know a single defender can lock down a zergs siege simply by having enough supply in the depot and spamming grenades when the disable timer runs low. So…

Either lower the disabled time significantly or add a cooldown so you can’t spam them. If you want to leave it as something that can be used multiple times, aka spam, then please drop the disable time to something around 10 seconds. If you’d prefer we only be able to use it once before going to cooldown then the cooldown should end 10-15 seconds after the disable.

The disable grenades should not be an end game strategy, they should be used to buy time for reinforcements to arrive or simply stop a small team outright if used correctly. It should not give a single player the ability to stop 30+ people to the point that they leave. No, catapults and trebs are a work around rather than a solution to this problem so please don’t suggest it.

Just my 2 cents on the matter which hopefully most people will agree is a rather simple and effective solution. It’s a great new addition to the game but it needs a little tweak.

Two Big Issues Post Patch

in WvW

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

While out in World vs World there were two big issues our group noticed, and this was after the post patch hotfixes.

First, there is something buggy going on with the [F] key. We had trouble using our own banner, stomping downed enemies, and even using siege. The best work around we found was to simply move in and out of range until you finally see the prompt text.

Second, there needs to be a cooldown on siege disabler use. A single person in a tower or keep that has supply can spam disables on anything and everything s/he can reach so now the only real way to lay siege is through catapults and trebs which need to be spread out. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the concept of disabling siege but you should not be able to spam it. You use one to buy time for reinforcements and get your own defensive siege in place.

Stop trying to act like some silly one man army freedom fighter. This is just a hiccup in the system and there is a simple fix. Ranting and raving just to get attention is not gonna fix the problem.

Hiccup or not you pay for a service you expect to work and it’s convenient their systems start this hiccup on a patch day.

Second, I’m not a one man army, especially if I’m calling on others who are annoyed like myself to complain.

Now, is this Verizon trying to strong arm NCSoft for more money or something? No, but this is the kind of thing we will get if Verizon wins the fight. That’s why I posted a number and called for those who are annoyed to complain, so it gets fixed.

Locking PPT for night capping

in WvW

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

Should lock PPT or even the whole border when there are to less enemies in the zone.
If one of the servers has less then 10 people in a border, they should lock it on next point thick.
Of course all people in queues of other borders or EB and all players of that server playing in edge of the mist, count as being in all the zones.
So if there are 0 players in the blue border, EB has a queue of 4 and green border has a queue of 2 and there are 5 players playing in EotM then the zone will open up/or not get locked.

Change2 should be:
If in a border green has 40 people, blue has 20 and red has 20 then all objectives of green are ticking for 30% less and all objectives for blue and red are ticking for 30% more.
If the green border has 60, blue and red has 20 then objectives of green ticking for 40% less and blue + red objectives for an extra 40%
etc..

Doesn’t matter what time zone game PPT would be more equal. Stacking on one server is less important. Very low stack server don’t need 4 borders to fight anyway. And even the very high stacked servers loose the advantage of very large groups playing at off hours (doesn’t matter what time zone)

Everyone spreads out more. Even players at off hours(Aussies) will make sure the enemy servers has about the same numbers during their game play.

Your second example sounds like an even fight and leaves me wondering why you even consider that a real option. If one side has 40 vs the 2 20’s from the other servers they can split to fight both sides, even fights. It can’t be based solely on number and who owns what.

This also destroys the ideas behind small teams and tower ninjas so you are actually encouraging more zerging.

No thanks.

Traps and Siege Suggestion

in WvW

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

Hello GW2 community and, hopefully, ArenaNet devs. I have done my best to speak with devs I see in game during patches to gauge their reactions to these ideas I’ve been pitching since this time last year but I refuse to give up, so here it goes!

What can you, ArenaNet, bring to the game to help the last remaining small teams in WvW?

The answer is probably simple compared to what some of you might think. It comes in two categories, siege defense and new traps. So here it goes:

Siege defense, not to be confused with siege weapons, are defensive structures and weapons that are placed just like siege weapons but provide necessary cover for groups of 10-15 that stand their ground against 60. I have a dozen ideas but I’ll whittle it down to the better, more fluid, ideas.

Siege Walls – (No, not the giant steel walls the Charr roll around)

This would be a simple wall, picture pointed stakes like a Viking village, that would be a solid object zergs can’t simply run through. It is pointless enough that zergs would go around it, but powerful enough that it indeed causes a channeling effect on large groups. This not only provides cover for small teams but allows for creative fortifications to be build in open fields, sentries, or even supply camps.

These walls could also be upgradeable, like in towers and keeps, by either using a tiered build system that keeps eating supply until you hit tier 3, a stone wall or something, or you could make it strength based on mastery points type deal. These walls should not exceed the length of 3-5 Norn standing side by side.

Spike Traps – (Similar to the thief/ranger skills)

This would be the third trap, since the first addition of supply and stealth, and would create a basic spike trap like any other in game. Bad guy steps on trap, spikes shoot up, player gets crippled for short duration. You should be able to use mastery points to increase the effectiveness, or even add a poison, to the spikes.

This would even the playing field since you can’t see the traps and would allow for better ambushes on zergs by creating a bit of chaos with half the group running ahead of the crippled players, even making them use boons and cleansers early.

Flame Throwers – (Chinese Style)

This would work similar to the ram but is designed for player engagement, not door smashing. It should work in a similar manner, if not exactly like, to the flame legion shamans. Visually, it should be smaller than a siege ram and maybe change the figure head to a dragon.

Combined with siege walls a single player could engulf several players in flames doing direct, and burning, damage that would require cleansing and create and shock and awe moment of attack opportunity. Picture a zerg hitting a keep, they break the door down, and are greeted with flames shooting into the doorway as defenders hop the wall into the middle of the group.

Land Mines – (Like Engineers)

This would be our 4th trap in game. I don’t think there should be much difference from the current engi skill except that you can’t see it and it should hit everyone in the blast radius, if that’s even effected by AoE limitation. This would do a knockback, thus breaking the zerg up for a moment and giving people time to react.

I don’t have any solid reason to say why this should be added besides the fact it would bring some diversity to gameplay and seems like a fairly simple, yet good idea. It would allow small teams to create kill zones leading up to whatever they are guarding and force the enemy to coordinate it’s movements better.

Defense Rewards -

It seems like a very simple request but rewarding players for staying, watching, sieging, and upgrading keeps would go a long way to bringing more people back to the game.

Mercenaries -

I’m not going to go the route I used to of asking for the removal of the ruins. Instead, I’d like to simply ask that the quaggans, or another merc group, be introduced back into the server borderlands. It was much easier for us to sew confusion when we could launch quaggan attacks on all the key areas of the maps at once, thus giving us the chance to strike at another objective.

Structural Weakness -

It’s safe to say a wooden keep is more vulnerable to the elements than a stone keep, or “steel”. I believe it’s also safe to say this should be taken into account when assaulting towers/keeps because it will make assaulting/defending more interesting. I’m not saying this should help a 10 man take a keep with 60 defenders, but when you can deal burning damage to a wooden wall, well I just call that normal.

I have others but these are the ones that stick out most in my mind for creating more diversity in WvW gameplay. Hopefully this can at least help generate some discussion on the matter.

Less Zerg, more Solo/Small Group?

in WvW

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

There are far more bad players than good players so it makes sense from a business perspective to cater to zerglings.

(nice necro, btw)

Sadly, this is the case. The same way ANet is making everything ascended a craftable item, they will cater to zergs since the majority of players want that easy mode gameplay.

Less Zerg, more Solo/Small Group?

in WvW

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

Anet has repeatedly expressed that WvW is geared towards zerging. That isn’t to say that small groups and solo roamers don’t have a place. However, just about every WvW mechanic encourages zerging: equal WXP/Karma no matter how many attackers, AOE limits, fast traveling, etc.

Anet did implement the Bloodlust, which encouraged small roaming groups. However, as we all know this has been nerfed quite a bit so the incentive to roam has once again taken a back seat it seems. The stat buff was a little bit out of line, but the stomp points created a huge incentive for servers to control all of the Bloodlusts. Now, after the first Bloodlust is controlled, there is little incentive to control the other two. Two steps forward, one step back.

That’s not true at all. This time last year we had the World vs World devs promising us more incentive for small play and adding more to the game for it. They never delivered and changed their stance since by that time the people looking for open world guerrilla play had started leaving for greener pastures.

Are You Ever Going to Support Small Teams?

in The Edge of the Mists

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

WvW is what players make of it.
There are plenty of tools to allow small groups to break up zergs in EoTM, and many EoTM features have been asked on these forums to help break the zergs.

Examples :
- Destroyable bridge
Carefully almost destroy a bridge, then let part of the zerg pass before destroying it – makes a manageable sized-bus.
- no WP
A small group ca gnaw at a bus, with the time it takes to join the bus back, gives the demanded advantage to small group…
- multiple objectives / advantages – makes defense worth it

Now, if players would rather zerg their way through it… not Anet’s fault… But I mostly saw small groups everywhere on the map, and not much zerging, when I went on EoTM. Depends on which OF I’m on…

I have yet to hit EotM overflow so maybe you’re lucky but all I see on any of the maps these days is everyone balled up in one zerg, and it’s not effective. The problem is ArenaNet doesn’t encourage a variety of play out there so everyone takes the easy road. It actually ruins the game since the collective lazy zerg mind just wants to run through towers and keeps, flipping, and never defending. So whats the point of even playing if we’re not trying to win? Lol

I remember last year around this time the devs came out talking about cool changes to World vs World to encourage small group play compared to the zerg fest World vs World had turned into. After seeing the new Edge of the Mists content, which I was thrilled to see added, I must question the logic behind adding every US server to a single WvW match. You are encouraging everyone to ball up and play the numbers game this way. So my question is, can we finally get a straight answer as to what direction WvW will be taking? Will all the other WvW maps be changed to reflect the new “all servers” style of combat?

I’m not hear to QQ about you guys doing something wrong, as I said I’m merely curious as to what your current intentions are. Hopefully you either scale it back to give small teams a better chance or I hope all the other WvW maps get the numbers boost they need by adding all servers to weekly WvW matches.

There are skilled players who form 3 to 5 man roaming teams, and are pretty effective against larger groups of opponents. Once you learn to play your character well, and get a coordinated (experienced) group of guildies or friends together, you’ll be able to reap the rewards of small group fighting.

We do plenty of that already. You can’t fight an entire balled up server with 10 people. You also entirely missed the point that ArenaNet had clearly stated last year they would be improving World vs World to encourage small play, and didn’t. If they had made defending keeps more interesting or gave us some tools to help even the odds on open ground I’d be content. They just never delivered on this promise either.

Where does Scarlet get her resources?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

I think 4chan’s own Guild Wars 2 general put it: the most kitten ingly frustrating thing about Scarlet is not even her infinite resources, it’s how she brings everyone together.

In the personal story, our characters struggle to get all of the good guys, who do share a single goal, to work together. We beg, we plead, we threaten, we outright beat some sense into some, and at last, they finally and reluctantly agree.

Meanwhile, Scarlet goes up to this nebulous collection of badguys, each with their own vastly differing goals and ideologies and says “join my club, all the cool kids are doing it” and BAM! she has an army with hundreds of different groups lining up to join her.

Thinking about it, Trahearne ended up sort of bringing all those people together too. So maybe sylvari produce a powerful, narcotic pollen that’s highly addictive and makes everyone throw themselves at sylvari to avoid getting the shakes.

Edit: Wait, so "kitten " is now censored too? Don’t they say harsher things in the game itself?

Makes me think of those Stargate Atlantis episodes with the guy who uses a “love potion” so everyone thinks he’s the coolest dude around. Maybe Scarlet just wants to be friends?

Where does Scarlet get her resources?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Raine Akrune.8416

Raine Akrune.8416

Everything about Scarlet is a plot hole.

Remember when she tried to kidnap Queen Jennah?
Remember the first time she attacked Lion’s Arch?
Remember how she drops random world bosses and giant structures in new places rather than intended targets?
How she is magically in control of different factions, from different parts of Tyria, which have no reason to go along with her plans?

My guild was having a long discussion on how she just does stuff, ultimately fails, comes back with even better tech, men, and resources, and yet no one seems to be able to follow her movements. How does she just fly around and drop these massive structures without anyone picking up on it? We had spies in the Molten Alliance but they never heard anything about this stuff?

On top of that, did everyone forget the massive airship armada and army the pact created? How does she continue to fly around with small groups of airships and we’re utterly defensless? For example, when the Aetherblades attacked long after killing Zhaitan we only had hot air balloons for our side of air travel/scouting.

Scarlet is that terrible Hollywood villain that just does stuff with no explanation. She’s the simple scapegoat for all problems ArenaNet would rather not waste time on or are simply to lazy to think of a better explanation.

By the way… Why are the Elder Dragons not taking advantage of our current dismay thanks to Scarlet and conquering their domains? With everyone fighting a giant clockwork puppet in Lornar’s Pass you’d think Jormag would strike from the north.

I’m just going to respond to some of the key things I noticed. To much wall and my response would be a novel.

1- The 2-week patches were nothing more than a large patch broken up so unfortunately that doesn’t mean much. They are clearly trying to figure out what to do with the living story and sadly keep making new content for it rather than ending a shallow story with no character.

2- My guild mates get hyped as well, when its a new world boss or there’s a balance coming. Don’t mistake patch hype for living story hype.

3- The problem with empty zones is a lack of fresh content and new players/current players leveling new characters. The latter can be achieved by providing fresh content because as players continue playing they want to try new things. I hated leveling alts and I’m on my 4th because the old zones are more fun than this living story.

They can introduce a set of new world bosses for the levels of those zones, not 80s, and that will give the trains more places to go. You will never get the champ trains to stop, and they populate the zones more often than not compared to people leveling there. The same goes for living story content, people only show up when its happening so they achieve nothing greater than my idea.

4- I work for a large electronics company and believe me, they will keep doing what they think is right because they already made a killing off the gem store. People log in because they stopped awhile back, see a new patch and think “I’ll check that out”, and then they don’t log in after patch day. Just check out the lag from patch days compared to every other day, it’s not even close to as active.

5- Persistent content and regularly updating it is always better than temporary content. GW1 is the best example with how to run temp content, you cycle festivals and parties each year. You make it and get to forget it for 6 months allowing your teams to focus on crucial persistent content. Festival launches, patch if needed, and 6 months later you discuss a new addition to it and add it.

Some people enjoy it but I’d take their opinion with a grain of salt, see prior comment. I just wish we’d be deeper in the Maguuma Jungle, or exploring the Northern Shiverpeaks. We could even be heading to Elona while battling the necromancer’s minions in the Crystal Desert. I thought we’d be heading there when the Bazaar launched but sadly no.

While I’m sure they are happy to know some people are content with simplistic and minimal content updates you can’t judge the merit of a release by its patch day attendance, you see how active it is two weeks later.

If you have a more active server than mine, congratulations. No one runs it actively on mine as it’s the same loot grind as the previous patch. I see more activity at Claw of Jormag or Shatterer than Teq or Scarlet, every day.

I’m not saying the Living Story system is a failure, just that it’s not a crutch to prop a game up. We need large areas to explore instead of another year of the same event rotation, just like in GW1, so we can enjoy more of the lore, environment, and challenges.

It’s time to add new zones. No one likes the living story at this point as you have done nothing but create boring grinds. I have not spoken to a single person who is content with the games current status, and we need new zones to explore. Server communities and guilds are starting to die off due to stagnant game play, and more will go once the first round of 2014 games launch.

Why has there been no real new content? Why do you continue to remove things like the Bazaar and Adventure Box when the content is in place and would help make our days more interesting? It’s like you want your game to die.

Please add new zones as soon as possible so we can get back to enjoying the game. Before anyone replies, try and have over a years worth of playing this game under your belt first so you know where I am coming from.

Ascended Armor

While this may upset some of the more casual players I take serious issue with this continued crafting approach to the new ascended gear. It seems like ANet is determined to not encourage us to do anything but just grind away when we should be playing other aspects of the game to achieve the best loot available.

My solution?

Keep ascended weapons as crafted/drop items to give casual players a goal that will hopefully spur some more activity out of them. On the other hand, ascended armor should only drop from Fractals so players have a solid reason to run it but also get rewarded in another fashion.

Maybe I’m just a veteran MMO player and I’m stuck in my ways but I feel like I’m being spoon fed the best items in the game. All I need to do is run my dailies, play some world vs world and complete a guild mission every week to earn all my ascended gear and now I just need to craft a little more? It doesn’t matter what you add to the crafting process to make it “difficult” because in the end it’s just a boring time sink.

I would like to experience the team aspects of the game and get the best rewards for doing so, without watching people out pace me because they are so good at crafting. Other MMOs went stale relying on the daily system and I’m not asking for raids. I simply believe players should be encouraged to actually play the game as a whole.

First, I want to thank ArenaNet for the hard work they have put into the game and these regular updates every couple of weeks.

That being said…

I feel you have spent to many months working on temporary content that comes and goes. I get the idea of having a “Living World” and it’s awesome sounding but these events are just that, events.

Since the introduction of Southsun Cove there has been no meaningful content update to include a new zone. We got close with the Bazaar but low and behold that was removed after a month as well.

What is the point of making all this content? The dungeons, world events, boss changes when we are just stuck in a rut? At some point you have to say “Screw the roundabout” and drive off road.

My suggestion, based on my assumptions that you have been working on new zones, is to start rolling them out sooner rather than later. The population of this game is constantly fluxing with people quitting and newbies joining, which is awesome, but will amount to a dead game.

Players crave real content that they can revisit on a whim and group up for some fun. Being 1 of 40 zombies just trailing behind a commander as the zerg plows through champions is not the ideal model to build towards.

There’s a lot of people complaining how Berzerker gear is the only way to roll in PvE, that it’s Pvt for WvW and that builds based on Condition Damage get short shrift all round.

I propose that all stats are removed from gear apart from armour rating for armour and damage for weapons.

Then make traits solely responsible for controlling stat levels above base level.

Problem solved.
You no longer have to have umpteen different sets of gear.
Builds become more flexible, allowing more experimentation, as a trait refund only costs a couple of silver.

I’m not seeing the bad here.

I have a solution to your problem: play sPvP

This may not be constructive feedback…
But please, guys, just re-roll guardians or warriors already. save some nerves and enjoy the game with less hassle/problems/nerf-every-patch.
Can’t you guys see, the game will be truly balanced if everyone plays either a guardian or a warrior.

I have been telling my guild this for weeks. We’re starting to seriously considering rolling out mostly heavies for World vs World play since the War/Guard combo is unstoppable and ANet doesn’t seem interested in changing that.

I know this is the Thief portion of the discussion but in general this whole “balance” patch sounds like the classes that need help are not getting it.

Why are sword thieves the target of this “balance”? I see one sword thief for every couple dozen D/D D/P thieves which are the menace every cries about. It’s an awesome way to play the class but like the OP stated thieves are supposed to be the mobility to counter the guardians defense/healing.

Please focus on the fact thieves can stealth, put a decent distance between them and combat, and full heal. Rinse repeat. I’m not saying you shouldn’t be able to do these things, just that my S/D S/P builds don’t need to be nerfed when I’m clearly the underdog build.

Considering the collaborations ArenaNet is attempting I figured now was the best time to bump this. There are plenty of good ideas to pick from or use as a starting point for brainstorming. Please continue to regularly update WvW!

1) New maps
2) New game modes
3) Tweak the settings so more than just glass cannon and bunker builds are viable
4) Finally get it to an e-sport level like you wanted (I know I cheated adding a 4th, sorry!)

1) Commanders need a serious overhaul of their raid system
2) Each server should have a unique map instead of all three sharing the same thing. I get the idea behind keeping things balanced but it gets stale quick.
3) Everything in World vs World needs to reward you or needs to be removed. There is no reason to do certain things out there if we just end up spending money with no return.

1) Lack of content that actually advances the game.
2) Lack of new zones (Pretty sure Southsun was the last addition)
3) The personal story quest chain. Many NPCs that have some connection to the player just disappear and this should be addressed.

All three can be considered the same thing in a broad idea but I feel the games success at this point hinges on new content in the form of expanding the main story line, not the grind fest the Living Story has turned into.

I suggest a golem garage that can be erected as an upgrade which can be used to repair golems.

You drive the golem in and then a SLOW, automatic process happens where the golem is repaired by NPCs over the course of an hour or so.

Perhaps a siege workshop where you can upgrade individual pieces of siege in various ways.

A golem pit krewe of Asurans by the siege master at spawn!

Awesome ideas! Just to add on to the whole rewarding people thing, why do the ruins not reward people for standing around as well? It’s a rather simple solution to encouraging smaller group play over the large zergs when you get rewarded for guarding stuff.

Living Story

Raine Akrune.8416

The difference is the amount of content in GW1 versus GW2. I would personally be fine with reverting back to the GW1 system of travel and do away with the WPs everywhere. I think it ruins the entire point of building wondrous landscapes that people simply zip by. Exploring in GW1 was much more rewarding and entertaining.

On top of that the GW1 missions felt much more alive then our current story quest chain and the living stories. For every dungeon in GW2 there is roughly 6 missions in GW1. The whole grinding thing is totally on the developers as well. While I see your point, the developers are the ones introducing content like Scarlet and Teq and have also taken measures to ruin farming while destroying content.

No offense to the people who do really care about these things but single day events are awesome. I remember opening AQ in WoW and how awesome that was up to the Karka event in GW2. Does it suck if you miss out? Sure does but sometimes events like that are necessary for progressing the world.

Would I like an expansion to the world? Yes. In my mind I’m not seeing anything permanent being done to the game world and we’re over a year in. Considering ANet has said they don’t plan on conventional expansion packs that means we’ll be getting it in small installments. How hard is it to give us a new PERMANENT zone? The last one was Southsun almost a year ago. They have created quite a few dungeons, including the Super Adventure Box, which just get removed at the end of the event. Why?

The problem is ANet is focusing on these small installments of content that don’t stick around thinking two weeks of a grind will interest the core community and the people flip flopping between games. Meanwhile they have forsaken multiple story lines which you can see by simply leveling a character, keeping the old living stories alive, and making permanent changes to the game. Upgrading stuff we already had a year before isn’t going to cut it once the new MMOs get close to launch.

Living Story

Raine Akrune.8416

So far every living story addition at some point or another vanishes (gets removed) from the game. What is the point of focusing on content like this which only achieves two things?

1) It does nothing to actually effect the game world in a permanent way. It’s like watching a sitcom, knowing everything will be back to exactly what it was when you started.

2) It disrupts the regular functioning of guilds and communities. How? Well you guys keep introducing these grinds, which you seemed so against before, for people to just zombie out on in one big herd. What are we actually accomplishing besides getting your new achievement set completed and blending in with the crowd?

What we need is creative and permanent content. Stories and adventures that rival that of GW1 missions, which I’m shocked wasn’t used as a basis for this living story setup. The Molten Alliance was following right along with that type of story line, each month was a new part of the mission until it came full circle.

Now we’ve had the Scarlet story which was a grind, followed by a grind. Teq is a grind half the servers can’t accomplish since half of their populations visit the servers which can beat it. Instead, people zerg up and run champion trains to farm all the rares that drop. Funny, I remember when you guys changed CoF p1 to stop the farming. Now you just add in a new grind every 2 weeks and call it a content update.

I was really hoping with the Bazaar of the Four Winds we’d at least get a peak at the Crystal Desert but no, dream smashed. No offense, because I really do love this game and have high hopes for it but we need an actual living story. Not a grind fest you added a narrative to.

Also, just to add on. This is the gaming era of locusts and ANet needs to realize it. A lot of people, due to it being the internet, would prefer to blend in with the wallpaper and pretend like they can show up for something but do it their way. You gave us commander tags for a reason yet never developed the system. Either focus on smaller content or give the commanders more abilities which will allow us to lead better.

If you expect the gamers you are trying to hold onto with this update every 2 weeks stuff than you have to also encourage them to work together. Otherwise it breaks down into a game of CoD with one group camping and everyone else playing follow the leader with little organization.

Tequatl Empty and Unwanted?

I think #4 and #6 really point out the lack of logical thought behind bosses in most MMOs today.

First, I’ve never understood how more health equals a greater challenge. I may as well go play Skyrim or Dragon Age at that point so I can just spam healing potions. This game is about movement and proper placement which I rarely see happening, especially on dungeon runs.

There are still tanks in the game which should be turning bosses around away from the group and likewise, what’s the point of dodging if you don’t make use of it? Please review all the lame legendary bosses in the dungeons, especially in the early dungeons like CM, and rework them. No dungeon, except for CoE and up, should have back to back legendary bosses. You should leave the legendary spot for the final boss at the end.

Turn the rest into champions, let them still hit hard, drop the health, and give them some more engaging combat. New skills or just a better thought process of when to use particular skills to actually make the encounter challenging, not the typical “OK, settle in for 5 minutes of tank and spank.”

The rewards also need to be reworked for bosses. I commend ANet on doing their part to curb farming in dungeons and in general while trying to present better options more in tune with their ideas of what game play should be like. Now the realization, you’ve destroyed content in the process.

CoF p1 has nothing worthwhile now. There is little to no loot dropping from the things you kill and the lack of champions means less guaranteed loot. Meanwhile we have other dungeons were you have back to back to back legendary fights which take forever and offer little to nothing in return.

Maybe I’m just not seeing the best end result compared to some more lucky players but perhaps the drop tables need a bit more tweaking. Generally speaking, exotics cost 2-3g on the trading post which is a very minor amount. You make 1/3 of that by running a quick dungeon (30 minutes or so). The last chest should be more prone to dropping exotics and maybe there should be consideration to some new items to drop as well. Maybe some trading post stuff?

The point is making these grand scale events which drive communities to the breaking point because you expect the average person playing this game to be competent is a waste of time and focus. PvE dungeons need to be reviewed and actually fixed in a timely manner, World vs World needs something new that’s actually engaging, and in general the game needs better content updates. I liked some of the living story updates but it gets worse and worse. The Molten Alliance updates were much more engaging and entertaining than Scarlet, who in turn was more engaging than Teq.

Instead of releasing a living story in November maybe just smack us with a whole lot of little content updates like the guild system stuff that’s been cried over or maybe try to revive sPvP by giving real incentive. It feels like all the original content has just been forgotten in the hopes that giving us a new grind every 2 weeks will suffice.

World vs World - Changes for Unique Play

Raine Akrune.8416

I believe two major things should take place to create a more entertaining and unique experience in World vs World at this point.

1) Create 2 (or 3) new unique maps for the server borderlands. I, and many others, understand your attempts to balance the game by giving each server the same opportunities but it’s boring. There need’s to be more out there so we use different strategies and tactics on each outing. With this current setup it doesn’t matter where you go as everything is the same in regards to terrain and building placement.

2) Ditch the ruins. sPvP is the weakest point of Guild Wars 2 and after introducing it into World vs World it should be even more obvious. The only fun one happens to be the watch tower you can punt people off to their dooms. Seeing little asurans fly off there is quite entertaining. Beyond that though the bloodlust device is only hurting the gameplay mechanics. You receive no rewards for standing in a sPvP objective and if your server can’t manage to field enough people you’ll just be fighting against a zerg with +150 to their stats.

Does that mean not everyone likes it? No. Does that make it a bad decision? No. You guys tested the waters but all I’ve seen is negative feedback and I personally don’t find it engaging at all. I would prefer to see the quaggan nodes returned as they at least encourage players to interact, even if just for a reward.

That’s what I forgot to add! I 100% agree it makes no sense that the SM lord is on the bottom floor.

I’m really enjoying the terrain changes made to the ruins as well and it’s been fun having small team fights. The game needs more choke points out there if ANet won’t address the PUGs being lazy and just training behind a commander.

Maybe they can encourage more small team play by giving bonuses in wvw exp to winning evenly matched fights rather than 5v30.
