Realized I never mentioned the fact we have Ventrilo as our guilds VOIP service. We don’t force representing on our members but when you participate in a guild event your expected to rep and be on vent if needed.

This is by design guys.
The MMO revenue model is moving away from fixed subscription costs to the “gemstore” model. This way they can make as much money from you as you are willing to spend.
I don’t really have a problem with this. It’s just how shareholders think. I do have a problem when it severely discourages teamplay and cooperation as it does now.
Eventually it will just lead to people not logging in anymore.
This is quite correct. What I dislike the most is the hypocrisy of it all. ‘RMT is bad. Here, buy some gold from us, instead.’
Greed is the death of all F2P models…
Especially for guilds to use. It would be another system to save my time and effort on the guild website.

I like that idea, very nice suggestion.
/signed
yeah this will never happen. Games that do this die horrible deaths unless they have zones that others players can bypass. people will go..even though its FFA pvp and expect that you will leave them alone unless they attack you because other games are like that.
Agreed. If this game had factions like WoW (OMG a WoW example) with multiple zones for each level bracket I could see it working but for GW2 it wouldn’t work with the current setup. Plus ANet already said it wouldn’t happen.
Considering there are a few armor skins that only exist from the starter gear which any newcomer would trash the second it can be replaced, I totally agree.

Yes please!!!

You get kicked after roughly 20-30 minutes of AFK. I’d be willing to agree with a 10-15 minute limit in WvW and PvP BUT 5 is to short. You step away real quick to get a glass of water, gf asks a question or two, come back downstairs and bam logged out. No thanks…
If you think that’s a grind you should see all the grinding involved in GW1 or any main stream MMOs, lol
So now that we’re passed the mount system, possible mounts, and the whole speed buff/WP issue lets move on to some cooler stuff.
First, I’m against the whole mounted combat idea. It’s to early in the game to make a drastic change like that and honestly I never liked it all that much. I tried LOTRO’s Rider of Rohan beta and I wasn’t impressed about riding around cutting down NPCs on warg back. Moving on…
Taxi Cabbing/Passengers: I made this suggestion a long time ago in Vanilla WoW before they added BGs. Those of you who remember running down to Crossroads or heading to Astranaar know what I mean, running was a serious pain in the butt. This would be a perfect solution to why you should add larger mounts. My moa example is to small to handle an asuran + one more unless it’s a sassy asuran lass keeping me company. A dolyak though, that tough mother of an ox will carry you, your charr buddy, and his three drunk friends home no problem.
Now the cooler part of my cool stuff section is armor. Everyone loves finding that cool armor to make their toon look like a boss. Your mount should get some love to. I have suggested it in every game I’ve played that supplies permanent mounts and I honestly think it would be one of the best mount features. It not only makes your mount look like a boss as well BUT it makes it your mount, your unique ride through Tyria and can take advantage of the dye system.
Now that we’ve covered all that I just want to end with a quick snip at skill use while mounted. Passives and only passives should be allowed and most of them limited. Their meant for transportation and without mounted combat there is no real reason to use your skills.
Lastly, for any would be posters in this topic. Do not use the excuse that mounts cause anti-social behavior because that is flat out untrue. I’ve seen enough people run by those in need or LOL at downed players as they get killed that there is no way mounts have any effect on this. It’s just trolls being trolls and you can’t fix that, just like FPS’s can’t ditch the obnoxious 12 year olds.
Some of you may agree and some will disagree but this is just my feelings on mounts. I think they always make a great addition to the game, and would in GW2. Even if their purely cosmetic it will make things more interesting.
@OP
Why don’t you just suggest they revamp the LOTRO mount system? Because that is essentially what your suggesting minus the permanent death.
I like your post, it is very well thought out and clearly identifies the main problems with both the mount wants and nots. Please don’t take this as a troll/flame but I’m going to point out a couple problems with the mount hp system.
The number 1 issue with giving mounts hp is taking conditions into account. In LOTRO the devs spent a lot of time trying to counter act stuns/dazes/etc to keep you from instantly being knocked off. They never fixed it when I left back in August so I can imagine ANet would have to dedicate some serious time and effort into making that work well. So with the thought of making them perma die, and buying one for 10g, you can see why people may just say screw it and not buy one.
The second problem is perma death. That to me implies only basic mounts in the game because who would ANet expect to go out and spend many hours, or gems, on a rare mount most players wont have just to have it killed off? Not I, or at least I’d only use it in towns or someplace safe for it. I love the old PK rules of you die and drop everything which sets a solid mood for pvp but for something like a mount it just urks me.
Now lets turn around and get positive, I’m going to throw out a few suggestions I’ve gathered from the MMOs I’ve played over the years.
The first major obstacle is how to handle someone entering combat while mounted. You can go conventional like WoW for example and just have the mount take 4-5 hits with the damage effecting your hp before being knocked off. The other is the LOTRO standard of adding hp to mounts, as mentioned there are significant issues which come with that.
I’m more for the conventional mount idea, being as I like to follow the tried and true KISS method. When you over complicate things your just looking at more work and less dev interest.
So now that I have my choice of a conventional, hp lacking, mount we move on to fantasy or reality in terms of what we’re riding. Given that GW2 is fantasy I’d think you could come across a couple different mounts.
Dolyak
Moa
Horse? (Have we ever seen one in GW1 or GW2?)
Perhaps a Charr scout vehicle (smaller version of one of their steam tanks?)
Now since I’m a bad little asuran I want that pretty moa bird to zip me through the jungle…Woah, I’m getting ahead of myself here. Did I say “zip”? Well lets talk speed buffs then.
I know we have WPs and they do rock for traveling. There’s enough of them to get anywhere quickly enough but in WvWvW specifically I find myself cussing at the fact I’ll be running the next 5-10 minutes someplace. Likewise we can’t speed them up so bad that we never use the WPs again (though really, are you honestly going to tell me you’d run your mount from one end of the zone to another rather than WP?)
I’d say give the mounts just…JUST…enough speed that they can gradually outrun anyone on foot. I’m talking a 5%-10% increase above what players can achieve so you can’t get away out right but with a few spare seconds you can run the gap to freedom. There’s enough “Get over here!” skills to stop them not to mention you pump a few arrows into the moa and I’m back on foot.
“Well now hang on. Your a thief so can’t you stealth, hide, and mount back up?” …Clever girl, but that’s why we have that nifty still in combat function to keep us from swapping skills and regening to full health just because we have a few seconds to breath after taking some hits.
I have heard Guild halls is coming, we’ll see.
I would assume so. The game is called Guild Wars and we have yet to see Guild Halls and GvG combat implemented.
why cant you draw on the mini map while in dungeons? sure the maps a little more complex in gw 2 but it just seems that it would make things easier
You can draw/ping like in GW1. It involves Ctrl and Shift I believe but there’s a few threads in Suggestions where it is mentioned. Sorry I can’t be more specific >.<
I like that idea. It would be like weapon swapping except with traits, maybe they could do the same with skill sets so you don’t have to individually set them. Ex: I can quickly swap from my PvE build to my WvW one (skills & traits)
This discussion has appeared countless times.
The majority of players agree that adjusting and scaling waypoint costs would be preferable over mounts.
I’d like to see your Majority, those not roaming these forums please.
Agreed
I’d personally like to see waypoint costs go down while still implementing mounts.

I have a ridiculous amount of tonics compared to the other stuff I get. I love watching my keys build up after using them to unlock chests but the boosters come and go quickly along with the useless stuff that I also get.
The random pieces of armor get salvaged and I LOVE the BL salvage kits and merchant kits but we need some better stuff added to the loot table.
ANet addressed this question awhile back stating that all the races are working together to bring a greater good back to Tyria. Thus giving us the ability to kill each other in the open world would be counter productive to that idea.
I understand where your coming from, pvp servers were what I played as well. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll ever see that in Guild Wars 2.
I’d be fine with no speed increase, I just want a horse for the looks and stuff to collect.
In response to the question about cash sinks… well you give certain vendors really expensive cultural barding ^^ (You could give the dungeon vendors barding as well, so your horse can match your armour.)
You could even give your horse repair costs – after you travel a certain distance it needs to be re-shoed. If you don’t replace your horses shoes then you can no longer ride it until you do.
I’d happily spend a fortune collecting Moa’s to ride, one in every colour. I’d buy every colour of horse as well, or Dolyak’s or whatever else they might see fit to put a saddle on. I wouldn’t be in favour of silly looking mounts though – some of the WoW mounts are so utterly over the top now that it looks ridiculous.
And yes, even if they have 0 speed increase I would buy them all. I just like mounts.
Edit: I’d also like some rare mounts around attached to difficult achievements.
Black moa with purple trim on its feathers….yes please!
I. I feel the dungeons could be a little more rewarding. Maybe not more gear or gold but perhaps a social set of clothing or something.
II. Waypoints are a little expensive at times. My biggest problem is going to lower level areas. I feel that if you are downleveled you should pay that price while using waypoints in that map.
III. I DO NOT want a party finder. I would like a lobby or section in Lion’s Arch that has a gate to each of the dungeons. That would make an area that people can gather to find groups easier.
I like the dungeon lobby idea. Very snazzy
So in other words… You are too lazy to run the map?
These mount threads are getting ridiculous. People who are against mounts are least trying to come up with some middle ground. People who are fans of mounts simply stick with their couple arguments without budging.
Actually it goes both ways. I’ve seen this “middle ground” you speak of and half the ones I read would make mounts to complex and a pain to use. It should simply be another cosmetic item with something between a 10%-20% speed increase (my thief can catch that without shadow stepping) and be rare drops/bought from the store.
Having them as cosmetic items could be a solution… But 10-20% speed increase? When the thief naturally runs at 25%? (Well, Shadow Signet infused, not naturally)
I would go for not less than 30% at least.
Just making some middle ground

We had a fun time out in WvWvW the other night. Thanks to those who joined in our fun and if your reading this why not join us? Plenty more fun times to be had/go around.
A complaint implies a suggestion in reverse so for those who know, it is a suggestion but its rather showing what is lacking then filling in the holes with the generic “It should have X”
If you complain in such a way that it becomes a suggestion. This person is just listing off GW1 features while adding how GW2 is a different game. I see no suggestions here unless the motive is QQ enough and maybe something on the 50pt list will be added.
If there’s even a remote chance of getting my monk back, even without healing abilities, I’d play it.
I can see the monk having a supportive side, using meditation type abilities, and auras. Just not based on healing as a main thing like in gw1
Exactly. I’m picturing combat like the monk class in Diablo, fists and kicks. Then they could add supportive buffs and some healing type skills like the Guards.
The title says it all. I’ve seen multiple “What do you miss from GW1?” threads and one of the big things is Guild Halls.
Now I’m going to assume ANet has been working on this since why wouldn’t they? It would greatly improve the guild system. It would also add the guild vs guild aspect back from GW1.
I’m not going to list anything since GW1 had it down pretty well. So hopefully their working on this already, if not please do.

I made a similar post with some suggestions for WvWvW.
~Lockouts
The biggest problem as mentioned is losing servers quitting WvW until the refresh. I would suggest a lockout so for example: Tier 1 Lockout – 50 Cap
Meaning only 50 people from each server can be out in a specific borderlands. You can still have 200 players from each server spread across them but it would keep bigger servers from stomping the little guys simply cause they have more zergs, pvp guilds, longer peak hours, w/e.
~Transfer Cooldowns
There needs to be some sort of cooldown or lockout for transfers to servers. It hurts the server population to allow players to come and go as they please. I understand its a game and if your not having fun you deserve to move or go where you will enjoy yourself. If you keep letting players leave the servers that get stomped for the ones winning we wont get anywhere.
~Small Groups
I personally believe that small groups of players should receive buffs or bonuses for working as a team and trying to beat the odds. Now this only covers people in a party so happening to run around in a group of 4-6 wouldn’t count. I believe this idea would greatly increase WvWvW activity in regards to small groups using strategy rather than large zerg combat which generally isn’t all that organized.
Just a couple thoughts.
If there’s even a remote chance of getting my monk back, even without healing abilities, I’d play it.
/signed,
the current system makes it hard for guild leaders to keep on top of things. We could also really really really really (I can’t stress how much) do with
1/ officer chat (desperately needed )
2/ message of the day actually announcing in guild chat. ATM it’s kinda pointless.
3/ an option to announce people logging into and out of the guild
4/ to be able to make notes, in my guild we use real life names and it’s hard to keep track of who’s who.
5/ an option to see how much of the time people are representing the guild. If someones only represented once, then they might as well not be in it. Or if someone represented us 100% since joining they should be rewarded.
6/ a guild calendar or some way for members to sign up for guild/ group events
Best list of guild system suggestions yet. /signed
I agree as well. Thanks to the represent feature in the guild system being a guild leader has become obnoxious. There needs to be a way to send out a message to every member of the guild, repping or not repping.
Personally I’d rather see the whole joining multiple guilds and repping gone. I understand why my guys do it, they have a guild of RL friends or found a small group that likes to team up once a week but it undermines what other guilds try to accomplish when we have to send personal whispers to the players who don’t see the MOTD or Guild Chat.
Sounds like you just need to go play GW1.
This is not a suggestion but rather a complaint. Can a mod please move/lock this?
Sorry to hear you don’t like the sequel but personally I find this much better than GW1. Why? Because I can interact with people outside of towns and outposts while still having the private loot for myself. Traveling is easier in GW2 thanks to the multiple WPs and once more portions of the map are released we’ll quickly have more sights than we need. The lack of stupid/generic quest chains wasting my time so I can spend more of it exploring like I did in GW1.
Truly the only thing I miss from GW1 is my monk. I have great faith the other things I miss are being worked on for implementation.
It’s ok in terms of another way to “distinguish” characters from one another but actually providing a bonus ie moving faster around the world imo shouldn’t happen.
ps Asura should get a hover board.
That or a mecha moa (WoW gnomes may cry about this)
You people honestly think people will just run past people who are downed or dead any more than they already do just because they’re faster?
Here’s 2 key points for you.
1. Almost everyone already does pass you up when you’re downed
2. The mounts aren’t traveling at the speed of light, you can see downed people on your map, and anyone observant will notice a dead guy as long as you aren’t traveling 100,000 mph
EXACTLY! I don’t understand how mounts became THE cause of anti social gaming.
I use town clothing all the time…
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_makofbbiGQ1qko8ubo1_500.jpg
Just add them to the game with no speed boost purely for cosmetic purposes and prestige, make them hard to get like legendary weapons, but please don’t listen to OP we don’t need carriages behind them, this is not the wild wild west..!
OP’s idea is to overly complex and accomplishes very little , why would I need more people just to use my mount ? if that was the case I’d just as well use the stupid way point and get it over with.
Exactly what I was thinking. Requiring multiple people to use it without any speed buffs your better off not adding mounts. I’m fine with the pure cosmetic idea but if not that then we need a more standard mount idea. The OPs “middle ground” is to complex to be worth it.
Our forum post has more information than I’d care to retype or c/p.

We’re structured without the boring meetings. We have a website (calendar for events) and ventrilo. We don’t roleplay but we’re a laid back group of players always ready to welcome another to our family.
We’ve had a few new members join us, some from forum postings. If your looking for an organized pvp experience with a laid back guild this is the place. We’re home to both casual and hardcore gamers.
LOTRO mustering ftw! lol
No no no no no
My thief does not need a rifle. My shortbow does the job just fine.
I disagree. The whole point of world warfare is to put your main force in a position that draws attention while your small groups move around behind the lines cutting off supply routes and other important factors.
The problem is WvWvW needs a lock out that keeps one side from overwhelming the other simply because of time zone differences, 30 big pvp guilds vs 5 from the other servers, and just overall bad organization.
1st problem: Lockouts
You should not be allowed to have 100 guys from your server stomping the 10-20 from the others simply cause you have a higher server pop or your server has a different peak hours. That generates bad gameplay from the losing servers because they see no point in playing when they know the few things they cap will be gone in the morning. I would suggest a lockout of you can’t have more then 25, 50, 75, or 100 players out on a borderlands until all 3 sides have achieved close to the required number to unlock the next tier of players allowed out.
2nd problem: Free Server Transfers
WvWvW won’t be safe until these finally end. You have spies and players recruiting for guild chapters on other servers while their main body is using them to stop the competition. ANet has already stated spieing is part of the idea in warfare but when you allow the losing side to just switch to the winning team you end up with screwed up servers. I don’t care about losing, I care about my servers integrity.
3rd Problem: Organization
WvWvW is made or broken by the amount of communication and organization involved with your server. As I mentioned before with spies they like to spam chat with bad information. Zergs are just a group or groups of people with a large random following. Get together with a PvP guild and you may find yourself enjoying WvWvW more.
I don’t like the requirement of carpooling but the rest I’m fine with. Going from your requirements and what not I’m picturing a Dolyak cart which I would suggest having a portable chest and I like the idea of it being left at the nearest waypoint if you leave it behind. However I would disagree with the idea of them not being allowed in cities and towns, NPC Dolyaks/Golems are always being led around towns.
After being informed about the ping/drawing on the mini map carried over I only have a few things I’d like added from GW1.
But first, thank you so much for using the original GW soundtrack, makes my exploring so much better.
So mine mimic the OP in that we need more emotes but I would really like to see the return of guild capes. I’ve had every other guildy ask me when we’ll be getting guild capes which I can only assume they expected would carry over from GW1.
Please add
As long as challenge mode doesn’t become the thing to run. One of the biggest things that killed LOTRO for me and I’m sure many others was the introduction of a challenge mode for dungeon boss fights. Dungeon runs were considered a waste of time if you failed challenge mode since all the good loot came from it.
That noted I’d like the OP’s idea of challenge mode being a “Complete all explorable areas of a dungeon and unlock the final dungeon boss” maybe call him a Dungeon Warden or something.
Shift+Click on map = Ping locations.
Shift+Click+Drag on map = Draw on Map.
It is already implemented.
Really? I’ve never seen it used nor did I see the bindings listed. I’ll have to scroll nice and slow this time around.
I was just thinking about WvW… So many people ask, “Where am I needed, where should I go, how do I get there…?” And being able to have someone draw on the map where to go would be great. However… This could easily cause complications in WvW servers with a lot of players. Mine is pretty low, so it’d work well… But I’m sure in others, it would just be chaotic.
I agree 100%
Like I mentioned, having everyone drawing and pinging makes a mess of things. It should be a private map interaction limited to players in a party/squad with the interaction rights given to the group leader.
I’ve been curious since I started playing the betas why the cool mini map interactions were removed. Yes there is still markers BUT you could draw/ping which I would much rather have.
Pros:
The ping is audible meaning it alerts you to check the mini map thus getting the attention of others.
Drawing allows you to visually show your group what you want them to do, even how you want them to get there. That combined with a VOIP service and you have a TACNet.
Cons:
The only real con is people abusing it like in GW1. I’m not complaining though there were a few instances back in the day of people spamming the pings or scribbling over the mini map.
I just think it’s a good system that should have been carried over. From a guild leaders point of view and from a WvW perspective I think it would be an amazing addition.
