Guild Wars 2

I’ve seen a few posts like this already and I’d love for it to be added in game. Our guild system is already pretty good compared to most MMOs but if we had a message board and calendar we, guild leaders, wouldn’t have to fuss with a website anymore. The more in-game additions you make to the guild system, the more logins you’ll see on a daily bases. It can only help increase activity.

I’m assuming you mean something similar to what they introduced for Aion.

In Aion, once you get to the character screen, you then have to enter a 6-8 digit number using the mouse only, where the numbers change positions each time you play.

That’s been a staple of Asian MMOs for a while now. I know Maple Story and a few others of those popular browserish type games do that.

The best bet is do what Blizzard did with Diablo 3. They knew their systems sucked at keeping hackers out so they used a cipher and gave the option, for free, to download it to your smart phone or to pay shipping to have a key chain sent to you.

Honestly, it’s sad we have to resort to this to play games but it’s your best bet for keeping your account safe. It should be very easy to implement in the long scheme of things since it only needs to be attach to the login process and not the game as a whole.

So perhaps we need a return to sender button rather than some function to block mail entirely. This makes me wonder though, if you ignore some, aka add them to ignore list, does that block all mail from their account? Or can they still send you mail?

With Windows 8 shaping up to be a bit of a shocker, Metro interface chiefly to blame, this may become a necessity!

Windows 8 is fine, I’m running GW2 on it right now and no issues what so ever.

The problem isn’t Win8’s ability to run GW2, it’s the fact that not only has Microsoft been so obsessed with creating a tablet OS that some users might think Desktop Mode was an afterthought but they’ve also put Windows on the potential path to eventually becoming a closed system, a fear expressed by a number of software developers of late.

Exactly, Microsoft is just copying Apple at this point by trying to have one OS to rule them all (desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones)

I play a 30 crit, 30 shadow arts thief, “stealth thief”. I was in a tournament the other day facing against three other thieves at the same time. 1v3. Fighting them for a good two mins and killed one them and had the other two at half life before they killed me. By the time they did my team capped everything and came over finished what i started.

My point is they were not very good and I have done nothing in GW2 really but play a thief. Knowledge of the class you are fighting is everything in PvP. I use to get wreaked by Mesmers. Played one for alittle while I don’t anymore more.

What you need to do if your going to take PvP seriously is learn the classes and what there weaknesses are against the class you play. Until you do that your opnion is just complete ignorance.

Ssshhh, stop talking logic…it gets people killed around here.

Truly though, if you want to cry nerf then at least play the class/es and give them a try before writing it off as OP.

Might be interesting but it sounds like you are much more into PvP and that is last on my list. Priorities are to finish PvE 100%, then My Story. And with My Story, although I don’t have to it looks like I should consider doing all the Dungeons up to the last one that dovetails into My Story. So the Dungeons are my immediate need for a Guild. And TBE being in DR might be perfect. Can you send me an invitation so I can see who is in the Guild that would like to start systematically go through all the dungeons?

We cover all aspects of the game but yes, you are correct in saying our main focus is on WvW/PvP in general. We run plenty of dungeons but our more impulsive events usually end up in a borderlands.

Raine, we are talking about a sequel to a game that featured a rapier on a piece of commonly-used promotional artwork (even if such a weapon didn’t actually appear in-game). Additionally, I have a GW2 art card (“The Thief Queen” by Horia Dociu) that features a rapier.

Personally, I think it would be a great weapon skin for sword-capable light armour professions. And, on rare occasions, heavy armour characters with a sense of class. :P

I’m assuming your referring to my comment about it being a fantasy game and with that you misunderstood me. I’m totally on board for sabers/rapiers to make a debut. What I didn’t want to see are uniforms from the 15th-16th century as the OP stated. I’d rather see what creative fantasy armor some of the artists could come up with to compliment such weapons.

Hey man I am going to break this down for you.

player trading I agree this was un-nerving at first but the mail system works fine. I got screwed once when selling Mad kings shoulders for 4 gold and the guy never paid me I reported him and with in a few hours I had the shoulders back and I never heard form him again ( as he was on my friends list it was removed after I received the item ). As it is a perma ban offense to mis lead or directly rip off , steal, scam, or con someone out of gold or items. So that is the fix to the shady mailing trade system. Still would like to see a actual Character trade system but.

spars/duels I have stated this in many other threads so take no offense to this when I say. They mentioned the release of this on your log in screen. Other than that I personally do not see the need to even have a dueling system in place, as it is only a way for people to beat their chest and act superior over others. Which I realize that people say it is t test out their specs blah blah, but lets face it that is only 5% of the time.

other spvp game types they have said they are working on different types, why they were not released on launch not sure. Maybe it is because they wanted something new and WoW has pretty much covered all the different types of PvP you could cover. I don’t know I am not saying that is the reason.

in-game LFG system they are doing this, the best guess I have as to why it wasn’t out form the get go is because they were testing it out at GW2lfg.com to make sure it ran right and properly, kind of a test field. Then when everything is as close to prefect as they can get put it in the game.

chat channel, trade chat channel, etc etc you have the ability to separate your chat windows to do just this

Player Trading: It’s necessary for that reason. It’s not hard to make a trade system with a little window and while mail works fine I’d rather not waste a GMs time on something silly.

Spars/Duels: I’m not in it for kittenery. It’s just a fun thing to do, especially with down time or when you want to try your build against another class with no consequence.

sPvP Game Types: It doesn’t matter what the hell WoW did. WvW predates WoW (DAoC) and w/e their reason for not including them it was foolish to add PAID tournaments without any pvp factors. It’s the same stale thing again and again.

LFG System: I’m not going to argue this should have been added day 1. I personally believe it should as most MMOs currently have one but I can understand how it may diminish the social aspect of yelling “LFG!” Regardless there should have been a LFG chat channel at least.

Chat Channels: You can’t make a trade channel, you can only split the channels currently available which I’ve already done as I’m a neat freak for chat.

It’s not a debate of making due with what we have. A lot of these things are staples of the MMO genre and it’s absolutely amazing that at least some of this stuff wasn’t in game from the start. They can tell us “Oh we’re adding this and that” BUT it should have been done from the start.

This weird priority system they have at ANet right now is confusing to say the least.

The game should have a system scanner feature which will identify if a player runs a voice chat program or not and put an icon next to the name. It is not important if the player uses it with other people from the game or with people from outside the game.
The feature will just notice everyone that player has a voice chat program open.

Uh, we’re diving into the realm of spyware and that’s never a good thing. I find it very unnecessary to have such a system in place as it does nothing. Ok, so their using a voip program and ignoring guild chat. The system has accomplished nothing but tell you that your still being ignored. If half your guild is in voip together you should download the necessary client and join in.

This is coming from a guild leader with members that refuse to use vent. I’m fine with that and our guild chat is as active as our ventrilo server BUT we don’t invite them along on everything.

I’m not heartless, I just don’t have the time to talk/type commands while combating the enemy.

Ummm there is a lot of collectible materials out there that are used for crafting but have not spot. I am just curious why is this? Is there a reason, and is it a good one? If there is no good reason can we at least get a spot in the collectible bank for them please?

I viewed it as “Here’s some crafting slots but not everything will fit. Buy gems and more bank slots!”

I would find it moronic to think they did not consider adding spots for shards the like. It’s simply one way for them to make a few more dollars to help keep the game running and content rich, which I’m totally fine with.

What I would personally suggest is an unlockable crafting slot for all the crafting materials that don’t currently have a home. We still have to buy gems, via gold or cash, but it’s a one time fee across your account and now all that crafting clutter gets stored away.

I don’t know about tailored armor sets for that specific look/century. This is a fantasy game after all and the looks of new gear should be in line with the old/current. That being said I’d love to see a couple more weapon/armor skins.

I’m sure they’ll be adding name changes at some point in the near future. I think that’s about the only thing they have left in terms of reworking your character after creation.

This is something that has bothered me for quite some time.

CC is a VERY important survival tool for ALL classes. Whether you are stabby, casty, or rangey. Organizing your CC with your party members is a HUGE part of the teamwork that builds camaraderie when you run a dungeon. I wanted to run a melee ranger of the longest time, and then realized that, because of immunity and low armor I cannot do that. Period.
How many stabby rogues can make it through a fight without blind? Zero.
How many warriors make it through a fight without immobilize, cripple, or knockdown? none.
Rangers without cripple? Zero
Necro without fear? Zip diddly.
You get the idea.

So to sum it up, with all caps for emphasis: REMOVE CC IMMUNITY. It will foster a better community and remove the ZOMGDPS4EVA feel from the game.
(And if you truly do love it THIS much, leave it on a few of the really rough customers. It truly is an interesting mechanic, it just doesn’t belong on ALL the bosses.)

I’ve been PVP’ing literally daily since about two weeks after launch. I am now R31. Given that I am fighting for purely aesthetic gear and running the same 4 maps over and over again to do it I am rapidly losing steam to continue.

With each rank rising in experience needed, and most matches producing anywhere between a paltry 100-150 glory, I believe someone in my guild calculated it out at near a half million games played to reach max rank (which isnt even a goal I care about). At 15minutes a match, of the same maps thats…insanity.

Couple this with the fact that WVW’s rewards are badges and trash loot and every death you have to pay a repair bill (unlike spvp) even WVW is a poor option. The actors motto of “What’s my motivation” screams out here. Why am I fighting to defend a tower that provides nothing for me, my guild, or my realm besides a crappy crafting bonus? Give me a reason to make me want to sit on the ramparts for hours lobbing arrows at nameless targets from somewhere that will be ‘somewhere else’ in a few days time.

I guess…with very little incentive to PVP, rising rank costs, high rish/low reward, and killer repetition I find myself logging off earlier every night.

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel or have we entered the ‘slow death’ phase of GW2 PVP…?

I completely agree.

This is sadly the state of most MMOs these days. You get a half/decently finished product and push it out early citing “We can fix it with updates.” But then fail to do so because of the other issues that arise.

They, ANet, clearly wants sPvP to be a big thing like it was in GW1 but then fail to deliver any real content. Sure those 4 maps were fun for a while and this newest map is entertaining but instead of adding new tournaments we should have received new game types.

ANet needs a serious sPvP content release to get the ball rolling again, and farther uphill the longer they take.

Here is where ANet actually screwed up…

They released the game before it was finished.

I know the whole release an unfinished game and clean it up as time goes on idea has been around and that it’s worked for a few games, like Minecraft, but take a look at what happened to WAR.

We have one type of sPvP currently when we should have several.
Free for All Deathmatch
Team Deathmatch
Conquest (the only one we do have)
Capture the Flag
Attack/Defend

Those are a few that come to mind in under 15 seconds. They should have spent their time implementing new game modes and maps rather than think they could toss in paid sPvP tournies and expect those to last.

What we also need is team sPvP to counter the current “pick a server and play” setup from the PvP browser. Add an NPC that queues a party, even if their going to end up in the same servers from current browser, and drop them together in the same server on the same team.

If ANet wants sPvP to work they need to buckle down, as I’m sure their doing to some extent, and get some content released for it.

Im sorry you dont know the thief skill but the dodge roll you are refering to is a fumble and 2 stacks of bleeds…. the “OP” skill your thinking of is a Utility on a 30s cd. learn to play the class b4 you make ignorant accusation about the trait… at best specc’d right a thief can dodge 4 times in a short period thats only 8 bleeds… and OMG 1 skill poof all 8 are gone GG

Thinking it over, yes, being able to get all the tokens you need in one run would be too much. I considered that some people would just sit back to get a certain achievement, but I doubt that would be common, and you cna alway kick a group member and find a replacement. Irratiating, yes, but could prevent people from doing this. I was just giving examples, and perhaps that is a poor idea, but it doesn’t mean this concept in general wouldn’t add to dungeons, even if it was just another way to get tokens in addition to repeating completion tokens. Some better examples would be a reward for doing the most damage to a boss, or taking the most damage during a fight and not getting downed. There are lots of places to reward good behavior and skilled gameplay with achievement tokens, that would liven up dungeons, make it less grindy, and more fun.

I believe that’s why we humans invented the think tank. Your concept is a really good one, it would just take awhile to think of the best ideas to implement and how to avoid bad players taking advantage.

Well when I see a good variety of bosses and have no issue with the limit of CC on them, the whole reason for this thread, I don’t see why it’s so hard to get the idea I’ll keep coming back for a laugh.

Stop running them for a few weeks and maybe you’ll be interested in them again. You can keep telling yourself I’m missing the point but I’m merely countering with the fact my guild enjoys them and runs them well as they currently are. If you want dungeons to be easier maybe try RIFT or another game where you’ll get heals.

OK firstly I never said we don’t enjoy the game and the dungeons in there current form, you are clearly stupid if you think we are crying here asking for easy mode. All we are doing is making a suggestion and expressing our points of view, if you don’t agree with that then fine, but please stop with your pointless comments and please stop trying to pick a fight, all we are doing here is putting forward ideas to make the game better not easier. If your view is that there is no problem and disagree with this thread then OK we get the picture, I don’t at this time see any need to continue this conversation with you, so lets agree to disagree.

I have no interest in agreeing with you. You continue to insult, complain, and cry about my disagreeing with the suggestion but yet I’m merely suggesting there is nothing wrong. It’s a two way street and this is the other side.

I love it! The number one reason I log on, after my guild of course <3 , are the dailies. I enjoy doing them and it’s simply because I find myself exploring old areas I have not been to in weeks. There’s no right or wrong way to do them, and I’d hardly say there’s a singular good place to complete them.
