you should open a ticket to Support and ask a roll back for your account if you haven’t done this before.
Everyone should work for themselves and not take things ready for them, which means everything should be account bound. Trading post should be disabled and only gem store active. Emails can only send messages not items.
If you want to craft something you need to gather materials yourself not just simply buy them form TP.
You want better armors, play and get them from drops not buy it straight from TP.
and so on
This whole game economy is shady business and is to blame for all accounts compromises and only one time roll back while it is at A-nets programmers if they add or remove one 0 from the prices not player interactions anyway.
(edited by Ronah.2869)
game economies are just plain useless. you don’t make a living through gold, silver or copper coins. So, if one item costs 1 copper or 1 mil golds it is not a big deal. if you are the only one with a legendary weapon or if everyone has one it really not an issue.
There is no economy in any game . It is just an illusion that gives you the impression you are more special then others. so “everyone is equal” is completely contradicted by the game economy.
If you are not in this bad situation, please could you keep your comments for you if you have no compassion for these people?
You don’t need to act like truth holders even if you would actually work at A-Net
Hacked players are already in emotional distress just because of this and you should not mock their affirmations
All mockeries in these threads made by the same 3-4 people make me feel you are one of those benefiting from the hacked accounts “goodies” or you are one of the hackers
There is no other explanation in why you always need to point out to everyone that it is their own fault. They already get slapped in the face by official answers.
I only see “Blame the kitten d victim for wearing provocative cloths” mentality all over the answers in these threads. So no wonder why many players rage about this security measure they have
Once they have locked this game behind a pay-wall, gold sellers need to hack accounts to promote their “business”. Or you believe they will buy GW2 accounts to do that?
make this game a free to play like most of others and then the number of hacking will decrease because they can make as many accounts as they want.
Also, f2p games have pin codes for bank, or deleting characters and others have pin codes even for playing a character
Also, deleting a character in a F2P game takes 7 days giving this way time for the payer to save his character by accidental deleting it or if hackers delete it
See games like AION, Dragon nest, TERA, Perfect World, Scarlet Blade etc.
Buy hey, whenever we ask for more secure accounts the answer is “you guys need to secure it yourselves, the problem is at your end” and then get mocked by forum users like Astral, Smooth, lord and others. and sometimes even by the A-Net themselves
For what i know, these can be hackers themselves judging from how much they try to defend A-Net saying that we are the only ones to blame. They might know the breach in their selectivity and they don’t want others to open their eyes
Interesting sites for checking.. seems mine is perfectly ok.. but events of the last week seem to suggest otherwise.. or is there something more sinister happened beyond mine or others control and we just haven’t heard anything… I am sure at some point it will all come out in the wash, literally!
I remember someone in this forum said that they might have insiders who could give account information to hackers as long as their staff members say they have no vulnerability in their servers or databases and no information has been liked.
All these hacks generate a bad image to this company. Competition is really hard in this MMO business so it isn’t really far to think that the competitors could send some of their spies to get hired into A-net and ruin them from the inside.
Thank you wulfheart for posting this commnet.
I wanted to open a new topic for my comment, but this one fits better in here
so here it is my
ADVICE TO ALL HACKED PLAYERS
Hello everyone
I got hacked 2 hours after I logged off, while others have got hacked while even playing the game, being disconnected by the hacker.
A-net is only offering one time roll back as their “everyone is equal” and “you are the only one responsible” policy so no matter how safe your password was or how many different e-mails you use for online activity, your account is always susceptible to be re-hacked and you will no longer have a roll back granted to you
My advice for all of you payers who have had hacked accounts and have had your one time rollback, sell all the materials you gather and buy all the skins from TP and also the dyes. They are the only ones which are secure in your account for future hacks, not armors, weapons, minis or characters.
They can even use your soul bound items into the mystic forge so soul bound items are not safe either. They strip your characters off all armors they have if they are exotic or higher.
Sell everything you don’t use right way. Unlock the skins the moment you get them even if it means losing the item and not being able to sell it anymore. Spend your laurels even if you just buy junk you don’t need, buy gems with game gold and purchase gem store skins, toys and everything you can’t sell afterwards
This is the safest way for you in the future and sadly it is the only way if you plan to play this game years after the hack.
You could check if your e-mails have been compromised at these addresses provided by Forbes magazine, so at least you can feel better thinking it was not your fault why the account has been hacked
http://www.forbes.com/sites/adamtanner/2014/04/14/these-sites-tell-which-of-your-accounts-have-been-hacked/
Have a good day everyone!
There are two type of players of this game: occasional and passionate.
The occasional players are those “jumping” from MMO to MMO becasue they can’t get attached to one game.
The passionate players are those who get very attached to their account. They like to design their characters into unique ways, they like to have the coolest gears etc. I don’t call them hard-core players because they don’t need to have the best gear but they can have something special that keep them happy.
A hacker can cause material loses and also psychological stress to the payers.
For the occasional player, this psychological effect is almost nonexistent because he/she has probably already “jumped” to another MMO, while the psychological impact on the passionate player is huge.
To this, A-net adds more levels of stress with their 2 policies:
1) the player own security is to blame
2) there is only one roll back for the lifetime of account
So, a passionate player will get in shock the first time when he gets hacked and then lives with the stress of “what is if his/her account will get hacked again” forever.
The only reasonable solution to get out of this stress is to look for another game or become less passionate about this one. less passioate meas less money or even none spent into the game anymore.
Buying the game is like having a warranty of one roll back. What is you guys would add a recurrent warranty for every 50 dollars spent in the game through the cash shop?
This will assure players that if they spend more money in the game they will have their roll backs assured and let one part of the stress away.
Many retailers sell things with a warranty of 1-3 years but they can add extra years if you pay more. Why not add this system to the game too, especially that it is a virtual product and not a physical one so the lack of replacement parts or full products is not the case?
Let’s just build in an auto-deposit option..
I like this one
No. Absolutely no. Why should we all have to suffer through additional security inputs because a few players can’t secure their own PCs? Players get hacked because they aren’t careful of which naughty websites they visit, or because their passwords are too easy to decipher.
If you read forum, people with 20+ character passwords were hacked. Including myself.
The amount of hacks lately are not due to infected PCs or easy passwords, but with vulnerable databases.
if you think this is is hassle, you can have the option to have or not the pin codes. like the mobile authenticator.
by the way, have you read how many had this authenticator put on their account by the hacker? Did we the players ask for it? no, so we still got and have to suffer from it
As I see in these forums, a LOT of people have had their accounts hacked lately and have a mobile authenticator put on without them knowing about it plus a lot of their stuff missing and characters deleted
My suggestion is this:
- Put a pin code request in game for accessing the account bank and
- Put a pin code request in the character selection screen for playing a character. Make the pin code character based even if you are allowed to set the same pin code for all characters
- Put a pin code request in the character selection screen for deleting a character after writing the character’s name.
These pin codes should be mouse clicked when set up and have like 5 to 8 digits
If a hacker gets your password and access your game, he will need to get your pin codes to actually get into the game with your characters. Also the hacker would need to know the pin codes to delete your character.
If by chance he can get one pin code from you, he will still need to find a pin code for the bank
To make it less hassle for the honest players, the first time they access the bank in one gaming session. they can get the option to not use the pin code again until they log out.
This system exists already in many F2P MMOs so I don’t see why not use it for GW2 too where the users actually paid for the game not like in F2P ones

Sorry, but I think that your desire to see “mounts” at any cost cannot justify the lameness of 95% of Tyrian population always riding steam-powered skateboards.
That was just an example but it seems you don’t use imagination very often and like to be in the state of negativity “at any cost”
What type of speeds we have now in the game available for the character?
1) The Walking Speed
2) The Running Speed set on by default
3( The Accelerated Speed given my skills/traits
Many people suggested to add mounts to the game either cosmetically, either functional so we ended up with broom and tunneling gadget in cash shop which are close to never used, similar to the Walking Speed
My suggestion is:
Set the Walking Speed on by default and every character is given by default a mount (a steam-powered skateboard for example) that will be equitable in the Hero panel
The mount will have a check box like shoulders, gloves and helmet have but the mechanic will be different.
- When the box is checked it means the mount will be summoned automatically when the character exits the combat stance
- When the box is unchecked, the player will be set on the walking speed while out of combat and will have to manually summon the mount (press F8 key for example)
So, here is how the new system would work
1) The Walking Speed set on by default
2) The Mount Speed = current Running Speed
3) The Accelerated Speed given by skills/traits which will affect the character while on mount or in combat stance
Note:
- Auto-summoning the mount lets the player have the current running speed while adding the mount to the game without adding extra speed
- Drawing out the weapon manually will put the character in combat mode which will be affected by the speed skills and give the player the opportunity to run with their feet
- Speed buffs given by skills will affect the mount speed like it affects the current running speed even out of combat
- Speed buffs given by skills will NOT affect the walking mode if the character has not summoned the mount.
- Entering combat stance will make the mount disappear (various animations depending on mount type)
Let them talk, this is what real life is. Everyone talks and make sounds. You don’t want to listen? Fine. Put on some headphones connected to your phone and play some music
I play on a german server with an english client…
So basically, whenever I am thrown onto a server with other german people from different servers, I can’t communicate with them? What?
Such a helpful feature, really.
You seem to speak English very good.. I should not be a problem.
Developing skills – power, range, number of targets, etc – with experience gained through playing will feel more accomplishing then a meaningless number on the character.
it will eliminate the current “standard” but will not jump to far away from it.
it will evolve the MMOs like other things in GW2 have already done (no kills or resource steal)
Drag your weapons into your invisible inventory bag – so you dont sell them by mistake – and your “problem” is done.
Extra fact: In GW1 people could not see their weapons while in towns and this was corrected through GW2. I think we will not see your suggestion implemented.
Yes. when a Mesmer is wearing the outfit in battle, the clones and illusions copy the armor not the outfit
+1 for this A-Net. This is one of the great news of the year so far.
Thumbs up
If gold is the hardest way, then people will not buy gems with cash to turn them into gold and A_Net looses money.
it doesn’t really matter if people play or not, they need to buy gems with cash, this is the only income A-Net is getting. So everything is and will be run by cash until GW2 will go on Automatic like GW1
They could announce the bosses in Chat as they did with the Scarlet’s invasions
make events more worth playing not less worth . You cant spread the people to do events if they don’t get rewarded for them.
I always wondered…. they got rid of the tank/dps/healer system, they got rid of questing system, they got rid of loot/kill/resource steal…. but why, just why haven’t they get rid of the old fashioned crafting system?
Couldn’t they just reinvent it in a better way not just a list of goods to be dragged in a window.
There is downscale system so you guys can still see the level numbers in there and feel proud of yourselves.
Isn’t that the whole reason of this game and all MMOS for that matter??
Getting higher level number
The whole LS till now – aka Season 1 – was really “an expansion worth of content”
I enjoyed it a lot and if we would put together all the “quests” we needed to do they are really a huge pile.
Just count down all the achievements from all LS content and you will see it.
I am not counting in here the other Col updates and other improvements as these should come naturally, but if we put together all what we have players over the last year and a half, it is really awesome.
Instead of letting us getting bored for 1 year and then add content for 1 month, the LS story it is the future of MMOs expansions.
The concept is great and many updates were very cool. we nned to count here how much A-net has learned in this year from all these different experiences and we can only hope for the best.
Thank you A-net for this LS season 1
It has been great
*Spoilers* MIND BLOWN right now! A++++ ANet

What was the reason behind Scarlet’s mad desire to destroy Tyria through the awakening of new dragon(s) What was she gaining from all this?
What was she offering to all those bad guys – aethebaldes, moltens, kreits, etc – so they help her to form an army?
Where did Scalet find the funding for building such Mega Structures" Marionete, The Drill, The Airships, The Watch knights, etc.
Where was Logan? Where where all other icons? Why Queen Jennah is not present? or other leaders for that matter: Trehane, Mother Tree,
Who and where is Mr. E?
What happened to Cannah and The Consotium?
If we are not going to see dragons flying all over the tyrian sky, and we will have just another dragon standing still in a map for people to zerg it, the new boss(es) will be the same old thing.
it is Escape from LA which means we will be forced to go to LA and when we will load we will get into the story like we did in Nightmare Tower. After thet instance all LA will be invaded and if we ever want to go there it will be full of foes. So it is better to escape then stay there.
last chance for us to take pictures of the LA s it is coz we may never see it again like before
What are we actually fighting for in WvW or PvP? We are not saving the world from dragons or any other dangers like in PvE so we are just bullying each other depending on our zerg numbers.
It is just gladiators arena where the kings and queens (Anet) are watching the slaves (PvEers) being slaughtered by professional gladiators (PvPers)
Disgusting, blah
The problem is they have released so many servers instead of overflows and now they can’t merge them because it will be a sign of loosing
Ok, this will brack the fun for most of you but this is why I don’t play pvp or WvW.
Let’s say it is ok to kill a character as the main goal of these “games” but mocking over his/her death with these finishers – most of them- feels really inappropriate.
Remember those soldiers from the news bulletins who were mocking their victims of war. Blah
(edited by Ronah.2869)
Improving the personal story through adding Order specific quests in the traditional stile would make a difference but that would involve more instanced content than open world content.
I am sure sometime in the future they will expand on these Orders but we need to wait for a while maybe even longer.
A friend of mine logged in for the first time in about half a year,
It is ridiculous to ask the devs to tell you what happens in half of year if you dont log in.
In real life, aka living world, If you leave your country for a while and you don’t even read the news how do you think the government will tell you what has happened while you were away? maybe three were strikes, maybe a new elections, maybe the government is totally changed… you just come and see what there is and hope others will tell you what happened but you will not be able to see all the news bulletins and other things live
So, if you want to know what happens in the game you should do a little effort and read about it not waiting for it to be handed to you on a plate
It is the living world concept and it will not go away, hopefully
CDI should have its own forum like the Suggestions were.
In this way everyone can find it easily and will know what it is about.
So all topics, no matter if they relate to Pvp or Pve will be in the same foum so people can participate in multiple threads at once
threads will be open only by devs
All what has been designed in a more proper way is non-permanent while bad designs are.
it is more appropriate to say NA servers win not only Blackgate
You cannot take the credit for everyone’s work as long as guesting is availableYou don’t understand how much time and effort some key people put into getting this kill. Certainly everyone who was involved deserves credit. But you have to listen on TeamSpeak sometime for a few days to really get a handle on how much planning, training, testing, re-testing etc etc etc went on by Blackgate’s commanders and the key people who were on for hours and hours each day since the patch came out (oh man you could really hear how exhausted some people were when talking on TS- but still very focused on the goal).
Every single step of this encounter was planned by the people running the attempts on Blackgate (I imagine it must have been similar on Deso…it was great to see the information sharing going on). Strategies were tested until the best ones were proven after days and days of attempts. There was not one step in the process that wasn’t carefully considered and analyzed. If you think I’m exaggerating I don’t know what to say to you except put ten plus hours a day into getting the kill like some of these players did lol.
So yes everyone who guested deserves credit for the kill and there were definitely some guests who were key players and made a difference. But everyone who guested as well as the players from Blackgate know who deserves extra thanks and extra credit for the kill. The were devoted to getting the kill and they got it despite so many uncontrollable (often technical) obstacles.
oh and your claim that people were just there for achievements, many many people will get a good laugh from that
So congrats to Blackgate and guests and thanks to the people who spent so much time and effort teaching, training and testing to get this win.
The bad design is to structure a game into servers and split the PvE community for the sake of WvW home server pride and then have them all guesting on one server to be able to do it, queuing for days. This is a contradiction they don’t even dare to explain
And i don’t remember TS was mentioned in the game requirements.

Sorry you dislike " elitist " content. =(
I dislike encouraging flawed game mechanics for the sake of achievement points
In an ideal world everybody would be able to take on the wurm on their home server and do so successfully, but this isn’t an ideal world. I would have loved to have done it on my home server (Ehmry), and who knows it might happen eventually, but so far I just haven’t seen the interest or the numbers. So, I guested to Blackgate.
Ultimately, everybody who was there last night, Blackgate natives and guests alike, were there for the same reason, because they wanted to take down the wurm. And we did.
they were there for the achievements not to beat the wurms. and guesting is an excuse from AN to make elitist content without getting the slap
Awesome example azizul. I’ve seen other games updating their weather environment. As well as day/night cycles. I belive it is possible here too.
This game doesn’t have a general weather system. one zone is daytime and other is nighttime, one zone is showing and the other is almost a desert
it is more appropriate to say NA servers win not only Blackgate
You cannot take the credit for everyone’s work as long as guesting is available
Guesting to win an event? No thank you, This is lame. The events should be doable in every server not only in specialized servers. Great idea, bad design and worse implementation.
You’re building a desk, you have nails, wood and everything, but lack a hammer. You could go to the room next to the one you’re in to pick one up, but instead you say “No, thanks. I shouldn’t have to walk 10 steps to get that hammer in order to build this desk” and then end up feeling bitter because you wanted that desk.
When I bought the desk pack, the seller told me I have all I need in the box
if people rely on guesting on one server for succeeding an event, then why did they split us into servers if we all queue in one?
Bad design from the start
(edited by Ronah.2869)
I love my server community. And wouldnt we be in overflows all the time?
in some zones, yea but it will act like the districts in GW1. We could change overflows/districts/channels to be with our team mates.
this would eliminate the empty zones we see now on various hours/ timelines
they put us in separate servers wither because every MMO is designed like this or because of WvW. I vote for the 2nd as being the main reason
First time creating a character
_ Choose your region: Europe or America
warning : once the region is chosen, you can change it with 2000 gems
First time entering the WvW
_Choose your army: a list of 30 army names similar to the current server names in a region
warning: the army you choose will be account wide and cannot change it for the current WvW season. Changing the army after the current season will cost 2000 gems
Technical solution
- assign servers for zones and not entire game map but have them separate for each region EU/NA
- once a zone population is reached, create overflows.
- assign separate servers for WvW and match up players accordingly to their chosen army
Guesting to win an event? No thank you, This is lame. The events should be doable in every server not only in specialized servers. Great idea, bad design and worse implementation.

Casual players spend real cash in the game while hardcore players farm gold. This is what A-net should consider when adding content. I am casual, why would I buy the Mini wurms with my cash if I don’t have a good feeling about the wurm event?
Hardcore players have already made 50 golds to buy gems and get the wurms.
If they want “me” to spend money in their game, they should give “me” something I “can” do. A few tries to succeed is a challenge, more then 20 fails is a “give up”
They should have not put servers assigned to the whole game world but assign servers to each zone. If a zone is over populated it will create overflows. if not all people will join the same zone up until its population is maxed.
