The ANCESTRAL weapon will be the ultimate weapon that people could get in the game.
It will be a LIVING WEAPON. It won’t be fully controlled by the character (read further)
It will not be tagged as sword, dagger, staff, etc. It will be a TRANSFORMING weapon depending on what profession carries it with color variations given by the ancestral sigils attached to it
I will not discuss “how to get it” but more on how it should be/look like.
the stats are not important, but the looks will be something special.
The special thing about this weapon is that it will have totally different skills attached to it with the best looking effects in the game.
The skills will be the most explosive A-Net can imagine.
They shouldn’t be tougher then anything else, but MUST LOOK TOUGHER
When equipped by a character it will transform itself into ALL weapons available for that profession. It is a living weapon and so it will be totally random and time based in what type of weapon it will transform.
This would make it a bit harder to master by a player used to only one weapon set but in the same time it will incorporate all weapon sets combination possible for the respective profession.
Equipping this ANCESTRAL weapon, the ability to swap weapon sets during battle will be locked. The weapon will change itself without the player interaction.
Also, within the same weapon type phase, the physical look of the weapon will alternate between 3 different looks at random timer.
To resume, the ANCESTRAL weapon
- has an indefinite physical form until it is equipped by a character
- it can be equipped by any profession and si not soulbound
- its static effects color can be changed only through the use if ancestral sigils
- it comes with special designed skill animations and effects, never seen or used in the game
- it is not more powerful then other weapons but the skill effects have more stronger look
- it transform itself randomly into all possible weapon sets combination according to the character’s profession.
EDIT:
It may be possible, who knows, to have a sort of sigil that will lock the weapon in its current form for those who don’t like to change, but this will be an option not a default feature.
Removing the sigil will return the weapon random morphing feature
Those lock sigils can be sold in gem store for those who want it static
(edited by Ronah.2869)
Horizontal advancement as it is seen now is through cosmetic gears and possibly later with new weapons and skills.
I have a suggestion that every lvl 80 character will be able to “learn” a new class.
The “learn a new class” tome will be sold in the gem store and and it will cost 800 gems.
There will be all 8 profession learn tomes in gem store
Learning a new profession on a level 80 character will work very similar to a new character: you still need to unlock all skills and traits for that profession. The only advantage you have is that you are you are already at your max level and you can ware full exotics: weapons and armors for that profession if you have them.
Warning! Soulbound weapons / gears won’t be usable ast hey are bounded by your profession
Restrictions:
- Changing professions would be done only out of combat and will have a 15 min trigger time if there are any red foes in a 2000 radius aria and a 1 min cooldown timer
- changing professions in major cities or open world “never contested” outposts will be instant and have a 1 min cooldown timer
- there are no hybrid classes. changing the profession will replace all skills, traits gears and equipment completely accordingly to “the vault” (see below)
Introducing this “learn a profession tome” will also introduce a new tab in Hero panel called The vault
In here, all professions will have slots for armors and weapons for previewing them.
In the hero panel, next to the “paint brush” icon above the armor slots, there will be a checked box by default saying: Store the current build into the vault
The build includes currently equipped armor and weapons, plus all the traits and skills.
This feature will make sure that when you change the profession, all the equipment you have will be preserved and won’t fill up the inventory.
This will work as mentioned, only with the equipped gear. If you have other gear you have for one profession, that will remain in your inventory
Note:
Having all professions on one character also makes sense to have more bags in inventory for the auxiliary equipment you want, that doesn’t fit in The Vault. So, again, a good gem purchase for more bag slots on one character.
This is an alternative option given to players which wouldn’t come too cheap.
it is not a pay to win mechanic because of the “restrictions” mentioned above
Then there is no need to buy more character slots as you can have all professions on one character?
yes, but think of it like this:
You start the game with 5 character slots and you make only one character who you will get to level 80. If you want to teach him a different class, it is mandatory to spend gems for it. If you don’t want to do that, then you can use the another character slot for that new profession. It is free
You want to have all professions, you need to buy 3 more character slots, while having all professions on one character makes you buy 7 tomes equivalent to 7 character slots. So buying character slots wound still be a valid option.
If you have no money problem and you can buy all classes for all your characters, what will make you buy more character slots?
well, having 5 character slots from the start to have can have all 5 races and buying all professions for all it means you have already like 40 characters, BUT, you can only have one gender so if you want to have both male and female you need to buy another 5 character slots.
How about the players who already have a bunch of character slots? Won’t they feel bad with this suggestion?
I have over 8 character slots and I would be willing to buy more professions on some of my characters which I like more. So, it is not a problem if you have more characters. It is horizontal progression not a mandatory vertical one.
Lets say I like one of my characters but I don’t like to make another one with the same look but a different profession, so this suggestion comes in the place where the “total make over kit stops”.
(edited by Ronah.2869)
That would be nice, especially when it takes so long to load
8 professions lvl 80s and a bunch of other low levels, various races
The Queen will finally admit the existence of Area 51

SF FTW
Really it would be cool to see the races develop/discover new technologies
The important messages in the poem are:
- Your world is built on fog and sand
- It’s time for Scarlet to have her fun
- And warm her hands over Kryta’s flames!
Who is Scarlet? ??
What does “fog and sand” represent?
Over Kryta’s flames?
burning out all Kryta ( DR, Queensdale, Kessex Hills) and transforming it into a smoke (“fog”) and ruins? (“sand”). Nuke attack?

Final Fantasy XIII environment style this is the future of GW2. Yey!
Just do the voices with internal employees. You never know if the cleaning lady or the storage keeper can be a good voice actor. I bet they would be proud to participate to the game in this way. Besides, this wouldn’t cost extra money and it will fit into their job description easily
It is not about WHAT she says but HOW she says it. It has to be done with a inspiring voice not in a simple Treharne style
(edited by Ronah.2869)
10. “And now let us welcome our guest speaker Trahearne, who will offer some words of encouragement in these dark times…wait, Logan, where are you running off to? LOGAN!!!”
:D
That would be the ultimate “joke” that will make 90% of players quit GW2 and start playing Hello kitty online
She will announce she made a pact with Aetherblades and from now an people can buy ships to make our own guild halls/ house
the Queen’s major surprise will be that she is pregnant !!!. Every kingdom (queendom as the case here) is waiting for the first born to inherit the throne
Wow, Thanks A-Net. Hopefully, the speech will be as motivating as the one in the clip I posted
The difference between players is TIME.
Some play 70h in a week, others 50h while others get to 20h and even less then 14h. How would you make content worth for all these type of players? It is all based on the TIME to get something.
If you make the game centered on those with 70h then the ones with 14h will quit. If you make the game centered on those with 20h then those with 70h will get bored quickly.
So, the only difference is TIME.
And A-Net solution to manage the TIME is RNG which takes their responsibility and pass it on each player luk
To create a Living World you need to have less instanced content and more open world content. The more instances added, the less living it feels.
Efficiency is the main goal of every player. All want the easiest way to obtain what they want: shinnies. Fun is an effect of what you do and not a goal in itself.
The world if too big to be everywhere plus the events not showing on the world map makes people see the world only as the zone they play in.
Showing 50 events on the map in the same time, I bet people will jump to do more because it is faster farming
Also a Server chat would improve the communication between zones for people who are not in a guild
Never enjoyed WvW, but I see your point, especially that the PvE world becomes emptier with each LS update and the opportunities through these updates are not fair for all. I just noticed that if you farm Queen Jubilee with a low level char you have no chance on getting good loot (exotics) as opposite if you run it with a lvl 80
So this is disadvantaging alts or new players.
All in all, the LS updates on a 2 week schedule has a good and a bad effect on the game. it is good to give “bored” players some new content every week, but it is bad for a player with limited time to enjoy the rest of the world, transforming his gaming experience into LS continuum stealing from him all the time for doing other things
Every skill ( 90% of them at least) has a direct damage and some additional conditions. You can deal damage to all foes directly with skills but you can’t always apply conditions. The immune mechanic works as intended.
Well, personal achievements are ok. It took us 1 year to get them, it will take the new players 1 year too. The problem is not in here but in the leaderboards.
If they want to get in there on top places they will never be able to do it unless the to top players give up the game.
There was a thread which seems I can’t find anymore talking about how the achievements became the new quests. Instead of having a quest log with permanent quests, we have a Hero panel with (temporary) achievements
I agree the rewards from achievements are not necessary a “big deal”, but like all rewards, people are chasing them.
It seems that everything became a “carrot on a stick”. If there isn’t one, people seem not to find anything to do so A-Net provides them with these temporary living story achievements
we just need animated/interactive loading screens to make this seem continuous.
no need to explain how because it is worthless anyway. They won’t do it
I don’t understand why didn’t A-Net invest a lot of money in the personal story cutscenes. They are the “salt and pepper” of any game nowadays. It is one of the best selling point after the game play.
GW2 is not a hack-able game, meaning you can’t play unless you buy the game account. You can’t crack its code and then play it forever without buying it.
They invested a lot of money in this game, a lot meaning over 100 millions and they didn’t even hit the surface of how a story is told through its cut scenes better then any other way.
it is 2012 guys, you need to act like a 2012 gaming company
Please, do something with the story cutscenes and make it “the real thing”
Here is some inspiration for you.
These games have the same price as GW2,
they are mostly designed for consoles – with your own words, not a very big consumer base,-
they can be hacked and not bought
etc.
Why, just why we have such bad cutscenes?
I made a similar thread a while ago

I have thought that the beginning of this Queen Jennah jubilee, she would give us an inspiring speech to make our human hearts vibrate together with all other races
Here is a “speech” that could fit good in the GW2
Replace in your minds the actual characters in the clip with Jennah, Logan, Braham, Rox etc.
This would have been an epic start for some new open world living content
Enjoy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6imKkM--X4M
Let’s just hope Evon assassinates Kiel in the next release of the Living World.
Her character is bland and boring, and needs to go.
Its is not about the character but the ones behind it, as it is not the politician but the party.
This things have been suggested over and over but it seems not the missing solutions are the problem, but the total ignorance of the issue
I’ve said it before in this thread, and I’ll say it again: (an evolution of the) dynamic events are still the future of GW2, but for them to not degenerate into laggy, unfun zergfests, Anet will have to create anti-zerg mechanisms.
Party-wise this can be done really good. As you said different objectives seen only by certain parties. Also, randomizing objectives between solo players.
How about Queen’s Son
.
Jennah was pregnant with Logan when he heard the news he ran to his loved one from Desliny’;s Edge
We have Braham, Eir’s Son=Norn, Rox=Charr so we need a Human hero too. Possibly later they will add a sIlvary ( Canach maybe?) and an asura too
What a good opportunity to present her son to the public at the Jubilee.
(edited by Ronah.2869)
Yes. They can also add these balloon stations permanently and use them for aerial view of the zone, not inter-zones. It will be made in such a way that you cant drop down from it and it will have predestined random course till the other balloon station.\
So it mount be used for traveling purposes as it will not facilitate the dropping in the middle of events and the tour will take several minutes
Living world should be all about changing the world around you.
Now we collect 30 baloons, etc. Fine, I dont mind this idea, but why not make it something more engaging storywise where all players participate to the common goal.
Lets say you want to build these baloon stations in the world for those who want to have an aerial view of the maps. They wont be used for traveling from one zone to another but a s fun journey through one zone.
Let players collect special materials – you know those new currencies you always add – and they will use them to support the building of these baloon stations
These stations, after the event is gone will be a permanent architecture in the world.
To go even further, you could make the players “donate” materials in each zone for each buiding not only in Queensdale so you could make the people go in all zones to build these things
You will not make a deadline for these, they will be on forever untill the players would finally built them all.
to resume, make players BUILD something permanent in the world through common efforts. Even dungeons could be developed in this way, Make players gather "explosives to put in different parts of the world and there you will make the new dungeon entrances.
Make players involved in building something and they will appreciate it.
Put recopies for building things as drops and easy to get tokens so all will feel they participate.
Lets the crafting recipes be used by +300 levels so there will be more people interested in buildings and crafting.
GW2 combines in a very sublime way 5 game type scenarios into one:
- Gladiatorial and militaristic Charrs
- Drunken barbarian hunter Norns
- Intelligent “who dont give a **** about others” snobs ET like Asuras
- Overused and tired from all these MMOs -humans
- Pure natural “seeing the life in pink” Sylvaries
If you dont see yet the connections, here is another explanation
Charr – Gears of War
Norn – The Vikings, Conan
Asura – Ratchet and Clanck, Sonic
Humans – (insert name here)
Sylvaries – Arthur and the Invisibles
There is no other MMO or single player game for that matter that incorporates all these types in such a beautiful way.
Good job GW2. This is one of the selling point for the game.
There are good ideas in this OP.
Heart quests should be transferred automatically to the “adventurer log” after being read in the mail and took the reward. They won’t never be deleted from there proving the “deeds” you have done.
Clicking the heart in there should bring up a description plus the location button for going into the map (show me) plus what the NPC is selling
Just wondering if there was no “shiny” rewards for the achievement points and no reward chests with shinnies for different separate achievement bars from Living Story, would people actually hunt these points or would they just ignore the LS and continue their “own business”?
By the way, they should add a temporary playable skritt race for these events so it will make more sense seeing skritts chasing foes for getting their shinnies
Better these “festivals” then just Nicholas the Traveler collecting random junk
Waited 2 min to enter > got in > got downed in 3 seconds > got out > adios Gauntlet.
So… you want to remove challenging group content from open world because… you don’t enjoy it? Here’s an idea you might find surprising: some people do enjoy it! If I had the choice, I’d remove all the boring enemies in open world and replace them with enemies more akin to veteran karka in Southsun. Good thing I don’t have the choice, because some people enjoy taking strolls around the zones without stressing themselves!
What is that I hear? You want world completion? Well, my friend, sometimes you have to work in order to get the rewards. Sometimes you can’t do it alone. Don’t demand for an easier world, get some friends to make it through with.
If you would do the game like Southsun Cove, you (and your friends) will be the only ones playing it. Too bad business model so you will probably get broke sooner then a blink
Map completion? What is that? A run in WvW waiting for your sever to conquer the castles so you get your PoI. Sorry, but making PvE maps scaling events not already scaled events for 5+ players is better idea than whet we have now.
I don’t have time to waste to solo kill a Champion. I don’t spend my whole day waiting if some one will willingly come to my aid.
This is bad design, not only in this game but in all other kill 10 rats MMOs
Eh I haven’t encountered a single group event in the game that I couldn’t solo /
Can you solo the events to Arah? or any other temple in Orr for that matter?
If i ask for no group events coz I cant beat them solo I get accused I want a single player not a MMO
If I say i want to do the story mission with people, I get replied they are meant for solo
can you people make up your minds?
As far as i am concerned, this is a single player MMO and the more you go further in the map, the more frustrating experience you get
So, basically have nothing at all outside dungeons that “require” a group?
Sounds like you are looking for a single player game rather than an MMO.
Get rid of dungeons too.
I dont play dungeons or PvP/WvW. The game for me is PvE and storyline. I have asked several times in map chat or in gw2lfg for people to join in the story missions but absolutely nobody has answered my request
This implies the game is a single player game for me and because of the false perspective/assumption about the playerbase/community as “good helpers” the game is not letting you finish your story unless you “wait for others” to help you “by mistake”.
In a game which is not intended for party play and which has allegedly a scaling system, I don’t see the reason for “group events”.
The whole game is a party and everyone’s invited.
No, I’m serious. Arena Net specifically designed the game to work where players have to work together and sometimes stopping to party up with people (even in other games) would be too chaotic, so instead they just reward everyone for participating, whether you’re in a party or not.
Group events are designed in a way where you shouldn’t be able to take on the entire event by yourself. Unless you think you’d totally be able to march into the Temple of Grenth and win by yourself. <.<
And I should wait till other people show up? What do I do in the meantime? /sit /dance /sleep?
In a game which is not intended for party play and which has allegedly a scaling system, I don’t see the reason for “group events”. Events should be events and nothing more. They will scale up and down depending on the number of players around.
Everything is fine in this game unless you find a group event you can’t pass over because there is no one around to help you.
All get more clear when you arrive to Orr trying to finish your storyline. Well getting to the last WP next to Arah dungeon.
IS it so hard to scale down a group event while there is only one player dong it?
Instead of 10 mobs you could have like 2 or 3. It is still challenging for one person but it is not humiliating as 10 foes beating you in 3 seconds with AoEs
I know about 1 year ago it was worse then it is now, but it is still not enjoyable experience putting aside the gruesome scenery for a 12 rated game
nice little touch what will make a difference +1
If you surveyed a different guild you’d get different results, for example based on chat in my guild:
“over 95% of guildies simply delete the tokens and ignore the whole patch, because as usual it offers zero way for WvW players to get involved and requires vastly too much time away from defending our server (and providing those buffs) to bother with.”
Who cares of endless war with no outcome? If it was more like 30 min match, then yea, but a week long. This is pretty useless.
Sorry, but many people don’t care of “defending” their server. Do they ever loose it? No. So why bother.
True, Humans invaded Tyria some time ago. It would be interesting to visit the human home-world and learn why they came to Tyria.
really good idea. +1
New animations needed for this but if they mirror the whole character while doing this, i think it is possible
What did i just see? A human Necro and a Charr Guadian? hmmm. not interested. Too childish for 2013, The same as Wildstar
