Hello,
You’re turning the achievement system into a quest giver system. Don’t do that, please. Achievements should be a nice reward for players on the side, they should NOT be the main focus of the endgame/living story.
This is exactly what the game is atm. +1
You randomly see players doing their personal story and I posted several times in gw2lfg an announcement : helping players with personal story. it is more fun to do it with a party,
Guess what? no one ever whispered even if I have updated the lfg every 15 min.
No one seems to like a globe but just a flat map
No one seems to be interested in adding a drop filter to this Gem-store tab
I am not interested in dungeons, fractals or any type of PVP, WvW. Roughly 70% of the game does not interest me. So, I vote for Keil because she is not a murderer like Evon.
I think it would be cool if A-net will focus on creating permanent destroyable objenct in the world through these living stories.
If the term confuses you a bit, here is the explanation. They add things to the world like fences, towers, gardens, walls, buildings which will fit the story and will remain after the story is ended, but, they will be destroyable structures.
Don’t think of those weapon racks we have now to destroy, these won’t be “selectable”. They will react to the amount of damaged given to them involuntarily by players fighting in their vicinity. The damage will stuck up no one will be able to see it like a gauge bar. At the time when it reaches maximum the structure will be destroyed.
It can easily happen that most players who actually had damaged the structure won’t be present while one single player will give the final hit and it will collapse.
They can add like 3 re-building faces for it counting the amount of items given for that cause involuntarily: some random NPC merchants will receive accumulated 1000 items from players.
I think would make the world more living going in a place and involuntarily break down some walls, cottages, etc
Al least we should have a “take off cutscene” before the loading screen and one “landing cutscene” after it
Something similar to the “elevator” in the Grove
Maybe you should
read this here about the Metropolis
She’s responsible for an Elder Dragon being alive today. Logan ran to save her, instead of saving the world.
So, in other words, without Jennah, there won’t be any GW2, right?
Good to know that. One more reason to add to my OP
I hope you guys don’t have such a perverted mind to kill Jenna too. You already killed a counselor in LA to replace it with some one you like, not to mention you killed all our Order mentors.
Stop these stupid assassinations. it is not about giving the game some emotional content, it is just making you hate the game and quit
Solid Snake: Unfortunately, killing is just one of those things that gets easier the more you do it
I think the Style tab in Gem Store should have 3 sub- categories:
-Armor skins
-Town cloths
-Miscellaneous
So people can browse more easily thru these things because now we just have all of them mixed up.
Totally unprofessional imo
I wouldn’t even dare to ask separate categories for: head, chest, gloves, etc. because that would be like science-fiction scenario
Note, I am aware of the search function but it really [insert a bad language expression here]
Someone will sabotage the jubilee and Logan gets the blame. We have to find the traitor and clear Logan’s name while Codecus accuses the Queen for endangering people’s life and he will “vote against the queen”
Codecus daughter, who joined the whisperers will give us some information about her father. Marjory come’s into the scene too, asked by Logan.
Lady Kashmeer will be found guilty…
Loot drops
- if not randomized but boss specific, then they will all be posted in Wiki after a week or two and people will farm only those who are have the loot they are interested in.
- if randomized and not boss specific, then people will farm the easier and faster spawn-able bosses
This is pretty much what will happen.
Possibly, the casual explorer might get help easier from other casual explorers if they will use the map chat to announce some boss, not like now when people avid group events if not able to do solo.
pushing forward robotic soldier agenda, obviously

With the new Champion rewards system, the already “abused” Queensdale will become even more populated. This is good because in there and few other places – Foothills and Ascalon – most people are doing their dailies.
I am sure these Champions will have the most rotation possible and as we start to see more and more people wearing legendaries, so we will start to see them wearing the Queensdale rewards
People are hunting champions which are easy to beat for the fun of it or easy leveling, so i guess this system won’t make people explore new Chanpions untill Wiki will post the new rewards pictures

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”
Where do I get one from?
Where do i get this bag? is it drop or something?
Sometimes is better to see what foes are around a downed player and try to kill the foe faster so he can rally by himself. This happens when the rez would get both of us down.
I listen to all the music people do. It makes the world feel alive. No matter if it is just an annoying sound or a good composition, it just gives more life to the environment.
There are all sorts of sounds in real life too that you cant avoid and then you get used to them or move away.
I would go even further and add a sort of “music meter” to measure if a music is good or bad and let the NPCs around share different emotions like /clap or /shoo, /boo depending on the sound rating.
I wont say anything about the people who turn this sounds off ’coz I am sure they will get offended no matter in how nice words and explanations I would say it.
Originally this game didn’t have heart quests but because during alfa testing and other “game shows” they went too, people were to confused what to do, they added this “quest system” to give people little guidance. As you see the Orr has no more hearts to do because they suppose that up until then everyone has learned that the game is based on events.
The only want i see adding new hearts in the game is by introducing a new race with starting level 0 and not 80, otherwise, the new zones will be just lvl 80 zones and no hears anymore
This issue has been posted in other forum too like personal story or tech issues but no clear answer from A-net yet
They said in an twitch TV interview that if they would add a class it will be for sure a heavy armor one to balance the game but yet they are not ready to introduce one because the ones we have already cover pretty much all the roles
It seems it is true. European accounts playing in American servers are treated like coming from another region and can’t join multiple story missions plus dungeons or fractals.
Please fix this asap

There should of been a recruit-a-friend option, where playing in a party together grants the both of you bonus exp.
Mentor system? why you people want to transform GW2 into a Chinese game?
Besides, you get exp in any zone you play according to your level so high level characters don’t get excluded from bonuses and they help the low level kill foes faster which implies leveling him faster.
I am a lazy person myself, but I think now i have seen even lazier then me
90+ hours to level a character from start to max is very fast considering other MMOs, but when you look at it in terms of “90 hours of solo grinding before I can play with my friends” it doesn’t look so good anymore.
Why solo grinding for 90+ hours? You said they are your friends, right? If so, you should help them and not just have them instantly where you are. If you think gathering achievements is more important then helping the “so called” friends, then don’t do it but don’t consider it the game’s fault, because it is not
New players are new, they NEED to learn the game
New characters implies that player has another high level character. I guess no one is leveling 8 professions when he/she just starts to play the game.
Plus, there is always crafting… no need to explain that
and check out these pictures.
These were achieved solo-ing the game with no crafting involved.
I guess with crafting (P2W gems store, /wink) you can get it in under 10h

Same problem here. I play thief and engineer and I submitted bug reports very often.
I also noticed that the FPS drops more when you are pretty much zoomed in and less when you are totally zoomed out, but it is still a problem.
Yes I would definitely need to know whether you can move between regions. I don’t see why not. I have all my chars on a Eur server, but need to move to a NA server. If I delete all my toons, I should be able to choose any servers in NA or Europe, am I correct?
I looked at the wiki link and it didn’t say anything about deleting all chars, unless I missed something.
Yes , deleting all your toons lets you select american server free
I just deleted all of my chars and transferred to a different server myself, although it was still within Europe.
I don’t know if it’s possible to switch from different regions. So you might want to seek confirmation from anet (or another player) before you do.
Yes, you can select American server too. Top right of the servers window there is drop down list
- account bound anniversary costume not available for purchase anywhere or anytime
or
- 500 achievement points (1st year) 1000 (2nd year) 1500 (3rd year) and so on
or
- “happy birthday 1st year” title plus “/1year” command with special party emote
or
- specially designed set of skins for all type of weapons/armors not available in any other way and unlock-able in the achievement panel next to the other skins
or
- 1000 gems (1st year), 2000 gems (2nd year) and so on
or
- 1 free character slot plus 1 experience bottle for instant level 80. The second reward
is available if the account has already at least 1 character level 80
or
- 5% reduced Waypoint and armor repair cost (1st year), +5%=10% (2nd year), +5%=15% (3rd year) and so on, available for the entire account
or
- special animation for one elite skill available for all professions
or

If it is anything like the GW1 release in China, China will get their own servers which are on their own data centre and will only be open to players who buy the Chinese version of the game.
I also assume they will get their own trading post which isn’t connected to the rest of the world.
This is very much the sad truth but I would like them to join whatever server they want not only Chinese servers and fill up the empty zones we have now
Basically you are asking for no levels at all or instant level 80 for new players.
Remember, that is why they are called “new characters” because they can’t and shouldn’t be able to do what “veteran characters” can.
As you see for yourself, A-net has added this Living Story content that boosts up all low levels to lvl 80 so they CAN play the content.
I think it is enough for new players to experiment how the high level zones are.
After seeing this trailer, it makes me buy GW2 again, even if I already have one LOL
Aw. I thought China gets a different GW2. lol
me too
wait, imagine when Chinese people will buy it. 10 million people , 20 million people ?
OMG a whole European country for that matter LOL
That’s the full funding for Cantha , yey

I would not go into this topic to re-make the story because it will never happen, I’d rather try to make small follow up for it which could be added through the Living Story without the need of an entire expansion.
Here it is:
- you are invited in Lions arch by your Order telling you to attend an important meeting with the pact.
- at the pact we see Traherne, and all other orders
- Traherne keeps a speech in which he will honor you as the one that needs to get all the credit for killing the dragon and asks everyone to meet in Grove with Mother Tree.
- in Grove, Treharne asks Mother Tree to let him hand you the sword becasue you are worthy of it more then he is.
- the character will accept it and all will agree you are the right owner of the sword.
- your character will ask mother tree if the sword is so powerful can it fulfill one wish and the Mother Tree will agree to test it
- the character will go and stick the sword in the middle of Omphalus Chamber and the whole Tree will tremble and a voice will be heard asking: What is the wish you want to get fulfilled my hero. You are worthy of one wish.
- the character will choose to see his/her mentor alive and the voice will respond: Go there where he has died and stick this sword in the ground.
- Your character will go to Claw island and do as suggested and the whole pa;ce will be surrounded by light and flowers will begin to raise from the rocks and there you will see your mentor wake up. Your character will explain what has happend
- You and your mentor will go to Grove, meet the Mother Tree and bring the sword back.
- The voice will take the sword and transform it in a weapon of your choice
After this your mentor will be added to your home instance and you can always get some Order missions from him/her
I hope we will see soon the personality system implemented. By now most of characters are either ferocious, dignified or charming.
There won’t be any race change, but if they will implement it, it should come with some penalties: the loss of all soul bound items and no rewards from the new storyline (items, xp or karma) Why? Because “bad decisions” should have some consequences.
No one is responsible for anyone’s boredom with a character other then the owner of that character.
I can see an order change only though the a story plot not like a gem shop item. It will fit the lore and you will be given a second free chance which is more then fair.
Frodo went from Hero to Zero after the Ring of Power was destroyed. So what’s your point?
There was only one Dark Lord. There are bunches of Elder Dragons. And Frodo wouldn’t have a Ring of Power because in the Guild Wars universe Bilbo would have had to answer 100,000 riddles, collect 100,000 fish scales from Gollum’s garbage bin, complete the Balrog’s Bounce jumping puzzle in Moria, complete Sharky’s Shuffle in Isengard, learn the Misty Mountain Hop while blind-folded, dig 500,000 taters and 250,000 carrots and slaughter 100,000 rabbits for the Gift of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit, mine and refine 9,000,000 chunks of mithril silver, and then defeat the Risen Smaug to get the kitten thing and then it would be soulbound on use.
Lol, this really has been “the laugh of the day” Thank you
The character is born as a hero who later becomes a member of an Order and gets promoted so that at the end he/she become a simple filler in a big army with some to no responsibilities at all who kills the huge dragon threat spamming skill No 1.
What do we do now? Living Story. So we dropped from The Hero of… to Mr. Nobody in 80 levels
This is a first in all my RPG games playing history.

You DO know that players aren’t required to finish their personal story to follow the living story right? It wouldn’t be very fun for them (and newer players) to make the Living Story follow right after the Personal Story, I hope you agree.
I agree, even the developers said they need to do something that will fit both type of players: those who finished and those who didn’t finish the storyline.
I dont have a problem with the living story. I just want them to add everytime something, a small quest perhaps that would relate purely to a character that has finished the storyline.
Many people suggested to add some things related to your order. That would be something specific for your character even if they would ask you to collect 100 crystals or kill 10 moa birds.
phase1
“Hello commander” Welcome back from the war with the Dragon, but we need you now to do this […] to help us gain[….]. You may go and talk with the other orders first to see if they agree on our plans"
phase 2
“good, you are back, have they agreed? yes /no”
etc
These “traditional” type of quests sending you through the world will feel directly connected with you because they would be available only after you finish the story, giving the same time an incentive for players to finish it.
These chain of quests could be simply done in each update and can give a meaning to your character’s life: do I perform my order duties or I do some dragon festival?
If I miss out on the duties, for too long I might get excluded so what is more important? gaining achievements for bashing dragon pinatas or getting order points for some future rewards?
These are a few things that can make your character have choices and having a life of its own.
I agree, its exactly what they did, your the hero, center of the story, alls well till level 30 then you play second fiddle to a ‘real’ party of hero’s, then you become a soldier/a small part of a bigger order. Finally, your a zero, awaiting rezzing on a dungeon floor, well some other players kill the dragon for you and are true heros…
Personal story = hero to zero in 80 levels…
Good idea, shame it gets completely derailed after level 30…
Good point. I forgot this aspect that the whole “personal” story ends up in a mandatory party.
The character is born as a hero who later becomes a member of an Order and gets promoted so that at the end he/she become a simple filler in a big army with some to no responsibilities at all who kills the huge dragon threat spamming skill No 1.

but i just cannot believe when some1 tells me he didn’t like dungeons/pvp in gw1, it was glorious!!!
it took me 1 year and 7 months to get GWAMM and I only played dungeons once to get the “necessary” titles. This doesn’t include the storyline required dungeons.
To get my obsidian I got a run in FoW. Of course I fought on the way but that was pretty much all the time I was there.
Played PvP because they gave points for losers too otherwise I would have skipped it entirely. I think my team’s wining rate was ~20% most of the time.
And yes, I played GW1 for 5+ years. Beaten all campaigns storylines with 17 characters
and grinding the gifts of the traveler only when they were easy to get.
(edited by Ronah.2869)
That is why they add temporary content so people are doing it while it lasts because they know that people are only after achievement points or money.
I think if we had 100 permanent mini/maxi-games the player base will be segregated.
To clarify the “persistent world” expression
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persistent_world
I guess what you could possibly do, is give players a very small number of honors that they can give out each month. Or maybe you can only honor the same player once.
These two from above and
also, giving “honors” should let the giver earn something like karma or laurel, so they will have incentive to use the honoring system
At one point in time, people will spam different players with honors just to get thier karma which makes Lions Arch an easy place to get your rewards.
To stop this we have to make a sort of delay system thet lets a player receive a limited amounts of honors in 24h so he wont be given those from 1000 people while others will get none.
I was thinking more of a gem store item. You get to a high place, double click on the item in your inventory so you get a hang glider then you glide off the high spot. For something like that, I wouldn’t mind it taking an inventory spot.
If it was fixed to only certain places then people would have less of an incentive to find random high places to jump off of.
Jumping out of a window in Rata Sum would be really cool. ^^
Than those 2 achievements I posted before wont be valid anymore.
I would combine both suggestions:
- special locations to jump from in the game unlocks achievements
- both achievements done unlocks a personal glider like you suggested
- gem store sells different models for it like with the kites
