This bug is still occurring, and it gives a really bad first impression to new players. The title screen music directly clashes with the opening cinematic, so I hope the urgency of this bug is understood.
I’ve had this same problem as well since the game’s launch, both with mouse and keyboard turning (though it’s much more noticeable with the keyboard). I hope they’ll get around to fixing/improving this some day. I’ve never met anyone in complete denial that this issue exists, it just seems to bother some people more/less than others.
Another bug to add to the list: When creating a new character, the title screen music continues playing on top of the cutscene.
Here’s a thread about it:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Character-Creation-Bug/
Yeah, it’s a shame. I ended up going on YouTube to watch the intro cutscene for the Asura I created, but then I realized it wasn’t the one corresponding with the options I selected.
What you pick in character creation doesn’t show up in the intro scene. They’re all basically the same. “Yadda yadda we’re the xyz race and through it all we persevere. The dragons are rising. cut to other races and their rising dragons To take down the elder dragons we will have to work together. ……. To do this, I have left my home. cuts to you standing somewhere with a fight going on”
Please be careful about spreading misinformation. I have selected different options one after another and can confirm they do indeed result in different cutscenes.
I posted a thread on this a few hours before you. Perhaps they can be merged.

Exactly the same problem when making a new character. The character creation music keeps playing when the cutscene follows. Quite immersion breaking.

When creating a new character, in the intro cutscene, the title screen music never stops playing, and the cutscene music never starts playing. This results in clashing music and dialog which wouldn’t be a good experience for new players. There is no doubt that this change was unintended.

GW2 works fine on windows 10 when using integrated graphics, but not when using my GTX 860M (I get the “Unable to initialize 3D output” error). I’ve tried an extensive list of other games that also use DirectX, and they all work fine. I’m not what could be causing the issue with GW2.
The composers at Arenanet have outdone themselves. The music is fantastic on its own and goes well with the environment and story. I recently saw “The Living Soundtrack” video on Guild Wars 2’s official youtube channel. I’m glad to see that Arenanet is taking the music seriously and recording it live. Music is an essential, yet sometimes overlooked part of any video game. I hope Arenanet is able to continue producing such quality work.
Season 2 has been really well done so far. I hope to see more jumping in the next episodes, as it is a nice change from the usual mechanics. The jumping puzzles have always been one of my favorite parts of this game.
Awesome job! This would be a huge improvement from the current interface.
I have found that I generally buy most of my crafting materials from the trading post. While I salvage all my items and gather almost every resource I see, I usually don’t have enough in my collectibles to level my crafting sufficiently. This makes crafting feel more like a “clicking on interfaces” game than an exploration game. I’m thinking I want to stop buying items, and go out in the world and figure out how to obtain them myself.
Has anyone fully leveled a crafting profession without buying any materials? Is this viable? If so, how much longer will it take, taking into account that you’d have to spend time earning gold if you were buying materials?
I agree, I find that it doesn’t always downscale me enough in some areas. It doesn’t need to be a major increase, just a minor one. I think you should do slightly better if you have outleveled the area, but currently it’s too easy to do some areas when you’ve outleveled them and have good gear.
What I should do to level up (Level 2 Mesmer ATM)
I would recommend completing the tasks (marked as hearts on the map). At the same time, complete your personal story quests when you get to the recommended level. If you get tired of the map exploration, crafting and WvW are another way to level. Once you reach level 30, you can start doing dungeons.
What should I do to make good starting cash.
You should be able to earn a decent amount through selling drops and rewards on the trading post. You can also try merchanting if you’re into that.
What SHOULD’NT I do while I’m playing (Looks like map completion is tedious…)
There isn’t any required content in GW2. With the variety of ways to level up, if you find something boring, there’s no need to do it! This is entirely personal preference.
Is trash talking in PvP and WvWvW illegal?
It depends on what you mean by “trash talking.” Makes sure you follow the Rules of
Conduct link: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/
Should I learn crafting professions to level up if I have no money (YET)
Yes, as you’ll come across plenty of resources on the map when leveling. If you salvage all your items (with salvage kits) and obtain all the gathering materials you come across, you won’t need to spend too much gold on crafting.
I just finished the story for Entanglement, and I was blown away, just as I was with the first story for Season 2. The final fight had interesting mechanics, and the finale, where your character enters the Eternal Alchemy, was very well done. I’m looking forward to the next part this coming Tuesday! Time to see if I can get those achievements until then.
Thanks for this thread, it was a great read. I completely agree with you. Unlike many others, I actually really enjoy the dynamic events and all the content that’s “for fun” and not “for shinies”. I play this game for enjoyment, not for a virtual reward. I’m looking for an immersive world with a rich storyline. Guild Wars 2 could have done this much better, but it’s definitely one of the best MMOs out there IMO.
edit: the problem, imo, is that other mmos have conditioned players to look for a grind. When players hear the term “MMO” many generalise narrowly.

I’m trying to play the game for “Fun” but nearly all my “fun” has been taken away these last 4 or so months…
So i come to the forum to explain why i’m no longer having “fun” in Anets game anymore..
I’m glad a few like the OP still enjoy the game and i wish i could too.
Could you give an example?
Lodestones from open world mobs …almost non existent.
T6 mats from mobs, as above
Champion loot is blues at best..There’s three examples.
Yet, all those examples are about rewards and loot. Not quality of content. Though I do agree with those points they don’t ruin the game by any means.

I’ve been playing since August 25, 2012, and to this day I am still amazed every time I log in. I’m posting this thread because I’m tired of seeing all the threads complaining about this or that. Sure, the game isn’t perfect, but what game is?
I’ll never understand those complaining about lack of “end-game” content. You can do whatever you want! And there seems to be practically an unlimited amount of things to do. Also, if you don’t like the gear grind, then don’t do it! I’ve hardly even set foot in fractals, yet I still find ways to enjoy this game. You don’t need the best gear to have fun. If you play the game with this mindset, you may find that your experience completely transforms. Just play the game for fun.
What is so Amazing ?
- grinding linear, never changing Dungeons ?
- fighting Invisible people in WvW ?
- being stormed by 50 people without ever realizing it ?
- unimportant sPvP (you just fight and that’s it, not achieving anything for PvE/WvW)
- Exploring Maps pass lvl 80 for no real Rewards
- Finishing boring story that is different for everyone …but same for everybody pass lvl 30 XD
- Farming for Legendary ….so that you have a weapon that glows ????
I made my Ele and Thief ….both lvl 80 full exotics. ..together 71% map completion …
I could go for 100% … but why ?
I could go to do some more WvW … but why ?
I could train SPvP more …but why ?I can play for 2 years more ..and nothing will ever change, I will stay exactly strong as I am now …
I (and other ~70% of community) have no reason to play this game past lvl 80 Exotics…
I’ll answer that. You do the dungeons because they are fun. You get 100% map completion because the zones are fun (and they recently increased the rewards for this). You play sPvP for fun. You see what I’m saying? There doesn’t have to be a point! It’s a game, play it for enjoyment, relaxation, the thrill, the fun, or for whatever other reason you want!
That’s one of the best things about this game, the wonderful community.
It depends how much the subscription is. If it’s between $5 and $10, and they remove the micro-transactions as a result, then I’d be willing to pay.

Lyssa confound you!
Earlier today, the server disconnected me. When this happened, I was about 90% through an very long story mode instance. Now I have to start over. Not only was this really annoying, but it ruins the immersion as well. I hope that story mode progress will save when you leave or disconnect in the future. When you die, you can go back to a checkpoint, why can’t I start at the checkpoint when I leave or disconnect and come back?
