Man that’s weird, online it’s $40+.
Except it is very, VERY clear that you photoshopped/blurred the word text so that it could be a different game rather than GW2:HoT that belongs there. Thus you’re really doing nothing but starting a controversy by lying to people. Nice job, you fail. Reported too.
If I report someone for what I deem is offensive or harassment is my choice. Areanet owns the game and ultimately they will have the final say. Will I always be happy with thier decsions, most likly not. However, if you feel like griefing others and are reported and deemed to actually have been griefing for whatever reason then you should be reasonably punished for said actions. Star Wars is not the issue here the issue here is deliberate and malicious actions by some towards others.
Hear, here!
Honestly this type of thread has come up each year around April as well. Why? Game of Thrones spoilers! Oh, but those ones are far worse because you have the “I’m better than you, I’ve read the books” people who purpose said who would die off in the season before the season even started! GAH!
RoC (agreed upon by EVERY person before they’re even able to create a character for GW2): https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/
- You may not create character names or otherwise transmit, post, link to or facilitate the distribution of any sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, infringing, obscene, hateful, vulgar, racially or ethnically offensive, invasive of personal privacy or publicity rights, or objectionable in a reasonable person’s view imagery or content.
That last part is the most important. Reasonable people view someone sitting in a map chat shouting spoilers for a movie that just came in theaters on Friday, not all the world’s population has seen, and was locked out to large parts of the population due to ticket/seating limits, as nothing more than rude trolling. Ruining a good time for everyone else.
Forget, for a moment, the 5-10 people in the map that do not care or have already seen the movie. What about the other 90-190 that DO care and/or haven’t seen it? And even flipping those numbers to assume only 5-10 haven’t seen it while the other 90-190 have, it doesn’t matter. The fact of the matter is that purposely trying to ruin something in-game for someone else is against the game’s Rules of Conduct is punishable as such under the execution of a Customer Service/GM decision.
And yet it lost to ESO for best MMO. How unfortunate :/
That being said HoT really is lacking content and a lot of stuff like the story or the fact that we got very few new skins ingame make it seem rushed. Still liking the game but as far as expansions are concerned Heavensward should have won by a country mile.Nope, Heaven sword release(3.0) has no where near as much content as HoT, It has 3 maps(including a city), a few skills for each class no where near specs of hot of course and end game is still the same token grind.
It did however come with 3 new jobs/classes and a new race. Features, at this point, 10 new dungeons and 3 raids. Seems like more content than HoT to me.
That’s because it does have more actual content and more features. Plus their quaterly patches are about the size of a whole living world season in GW2. Also it’s called Heavensward, not Heaven’s Sword.
edit: forgot to mention the festivals. instead of only 2 major ones that are usually just copy/paste XIV actually has a ton of unique festivals with new rewards each year and pretty well put together questlines.
I’m not doubting that ANet loves their game but something seems to be amiss with their management considering the difference in new content between those two games.
You mean how GW2 is a B2P game funded by box sales and potential (but not guaranteed) gem store sales, meanwhile FFXIV is funded by a monthly required subscription on top of it’s boxed sales and expansion boxed sales? That kind of makes all the difference in content output and quality.
Not to put a spoiler, but there is a certain room in Tarir that has a jumping puzzle in it. You can only access this area after completing chapter 9 or so of the Heart of Thorns story.
Ever notice people’s solution to “gem store problems” is always taking stuff out of gem store to put into the game? It is almost as if their main objective is to obtain things for free because they’re too cheap or can’t afford the gem store items (or are greedy). Weird..
3 days later and we’ve got no word on this yet? What is going on here? Why no word on if it’ll be patched tomorrow, or if it’s something that will take longer or what? I’m very concerned and this game mode is 1000% better than Conquest and my new favorite far before HoT thanks to the betas. I need my Stronghold fix. Please, fix it for my fix. Thank you.
You don’t have the game installed on an SSD, most likely. It has to do with the speed of the load of the game’s base data retrieved from your system. So that is based no the speed of the primary drive installed upon. In this case you most likely have a dated HDD that is running low rotations. I recommend updating that.
As a very casual player I do feel the push of buying gems to exchange for gold to achieve things. I have achieved most of the simpler things and now I am faced with the choice of doing things I don’t like very much or buying things with gold. For example:
Cultural armor – tier 1 and tier 2 are simple enough, tier 3 for all of the races and all three armor types takes more gold than I have ever seen.
Ascended armor – I have managed after years of on and off play (I pre-ordered the main game) to collect enough silk to make 1 piece of the coat and the insignia. Now I am facing 300 bolts of silk and bunch of other cloth and after achieving this I don’t think I will be able to craft any other ascended pieces, because I am sick of trying to get cloth. I would have to buy the materials, which are not cheap.
New HoT stat gear – right, I need for those the insignas from the vendors. Well that’s not so bad, right what else… random drop books. Yeah right, I do not have the patience to run the new zones for that much so if I want those stats, I should go to the trading post. More gold again.
And buying all the materials for my crafting off the trading post just feels wrong for me. I don’t want to buy stuff, I want to put in reasonable effort to get those things myself, but currently the effort I have to put in is not reasonable.
~~snip~~
Oh yes, I do have a third choice, not to play the game. Unfortunately that’s what I am doing mostly lately and so I do not feel very inclined to actually give any money to GW2, even if I actually like quite a lot of elements from that game.
I’ll ignore your 3-years-too-late rant about the structure of the Gem Store because it is honestly a tiresome dead horse that has long since decayed.
As for your issue with basically the most expensive, hardest to obtain gear in the game. That is designed on purpose. If they were cheap and easily obtainable, everyone would have them and their sense of accomplishment on those things would be tossed right out the window.
Playing a 1/2hr-45 minute Tarir meta event yields anywhere between 1-10 rare items (way more if you’re successful and have keys to open the chests below). Those then are deconstructed into Globs of Ecto, T6 cloth/leather/metal, and T5/T6 crafting mats.
Running around the new zones just gathering materials only yields so much currency in selling them. And if they’re needed: don’t sell, but they’re easy to get. Especially with Masteries that can help easily avoid certain mobs.
Your “feeling of rush to buy gems to turn to gold” is nothing more than an “I want it now” attitude. You’re not wanting to put any game long progression game effort into what are supposed to be long-term goals. That is not how the game is designed to be played. It is an option if you spend $$ to buy gold, but that is on you. The game has no pop-ups or anything telling you “Buy gold NOW!” like other games (LotRO, for example), so don’t say it does.
Cursed Shore rewards are absolutely imbalanced. They need to be nerfed as soon as possible. Ever 3-4 events you get a charged lodestone or a giants eye. How is that fair? That’s 3 gold minimum every 10 minutes~
Something has to be done about this, FAST.
This “gold” that you imagine is coming out of thin air is not. It is in fact coming from other players willing to pay that price for the rarity of that particular item. There is no issue here. ArenaNet mentioned the map reward system long before HoT released and said that the ‘ultra rare’ materials were going to become much easier to obtain thanks to that system. This is 100% intended for A.Net to help player obtain materials easier without super-grinding them. If you’re one of those market manipulators who was stockpiling and hiking the prices, and that is why you’re upset because the price dive: tough luck.
So per this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Item-Restrictions-in-Raids/first
You can’t use boosters in raids.
So why is there a Raider’s Supply Package for sale on the gem store with boosters in it that you can’t use in raids?
Because a HEROIC BOOSTER is this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heroic_Booster
Not one thing about combat and instead all about XP and gathering. If you’d actually read the dev post you linked, you’d know that they’ve only banned combat boosting boosters (like the Strength one and the speed one).
Even if someone is cheating with 2 accounts it seems ridiculous to me to ban everything of theirs.
Imagine if someone had 10 books. 8 were purchased, 2 were stolen. The police go in and take away all 10 books. It just doesn’t seem right imo
Not at all. It is a SERVICE, not a property. You -the player- have to agree to the service terms in order to utilize the service.
A better example would be if someone purchased season pass to a football team’s games. The then get banned from the home team stadium for drunken rowdiness that also gets them booted mid-game on the season opener. They would NOT get a refund for any of their additional tickets for the season pass, that is for sure (although they could try to scalp them, illegal as that is).
Now when they say that you -the player- can get permanently banned from the game, they do mean you -the individual user- can get banned. Which is to say that when you’re caught cheating on one of multiple accounts, that reflects that you -the player user- are a cheater who they do not want playing their game with ANY account. Period.
Ah, well…there’s your second review. =/
Yeah.. and still no word on what cheat they are talking about. i don’t even own 9 accounts.
They’re not going to publicly tell you the cheat because that would also publicly reveal a flaw/exploit in their game before they’re able to get an ironclad fix on it. They never reveal exploits/cheats/3rd party programs unless they are 100% sure it has been dealt with (as well as ALL users being punished).
And they really don’t have to tell you what you have done. You know what you did. Denial is not just a river in Africa.
Giant winged mummy just appeared in Tarir this Halloween. Maybe it is the Exile that sacrificed itself to protect Tarir from the Mordrem?
Trahearne isn’t popular, I know, but I’m curious as to whether anyone else thinks he deserved a better end than the one he got.
I like him, so I’m definitely biased. But even if the writers did plan to kill him off, I feel like it would have been a more meaningful death if they’d waited.
In the Personal Story, it seemed like they were building him up to be the commander’s partner, rather than mentor or superior. Surviving Claw Island, forming the Pact, cleansing Orr: they did that together. And it was implied at the end of the Personal Story that they’d hunt down the rest of the dragons together, too. Did that come across perfectly? Maybe not. But if they had taken more time to develop and grow his character, his death would have had more weight to it.
(I mean, I’d rather he didn’t have to die at all. But like I said: I’m biased. XD)
As it is now, it’s kind of a “oh, that guy we haven’t really seen for two seasons/three years is dead. Dang.” And that sucks, because I feel like he had the potential to become much more interesting, and all that potential is wasted now.
I don’t know. Does anyone else feel like this?
Of course he deserved to die exactly the way he did. In fact, maybe less ‘sacrificial lamb’ as he went. I’m sick of him being a spotlight stealing glory hog who took credit for Zhaitan, took credit for the Pact grouping, and even too credit for setting up everything in SW after the whole DryTop affair. Heck, I’m sure somewhere down the line he probably tried taking credit for killing Scarlett and saving Lion’s Arch.
If anyone deserved a better death and more honorable ending, it would have ben Eir. She did not deserve to die just scrounging an escape from a prison that she was only in because the Sylvari betrayed everyone in the airship raid. Weakened and caged with the criminal Foulin before a miserable death. Just wrong.
To be honest the elite unlocks are not the problem .
Its the other unlocks that screw over .
I went back to the vanilla game as i way to often was alone because i either could not fly long enough or could not do that jumpAlso ;
I would like AN to rethink what meaningful is.
Only a minority want EVERYTHING to be hardcore.
You should really rethink the design as you split the community
Tune it back to GW2 Vanilla standards please !!!May i remind you that its 2015 and the average gamer is a working adult ….
So for the love of the GW franchise let us ALL have a slice the way we want it .
What does being a working adult have anything to do with making a video game interactive (meaning the player has to be a bit responsive to their surroundings) compared to making it faceroll easy. Playing 1-2 hours a night [if that] shouldn’t make everything tuned to super easy because you don’t have 4-6 hours. Progression speed will be different that than of people with more time on hand and that is not a fact of the game but a simple fact of life (someone with more time dedicated to something with progress further with it than someone who does has less time).
The reason that core vs HoT is night-and-day different is because the tuning for HoT is around level 80 players with Exotic gear while core is tuned for the character level/gear zones that they’re respective towards. Players have been in level 80 Exotic gear being down leveled into a zone, which still makes them far more powerful than said zone. It is simply that they’re used to facerolling the content.
There is nothing “split” about the community so long as you actively are a part of the community. Working with other players in your area for a Dynamic Event boss fight instead of trying to solo it, which just is not going to happen no matter how much you beg A.Net to change that to.
Champion Hero Points are really easy to find players in the area to help with: “/m LFM Champion South of [Map location]” and players will come. This is a matter of communicating. It is no different than if you don’t see a dungeon group for a dungeon you want to do, then you start a group yourself and look for players instead of complaining “dungeons are too hard, so hard that nobody does them!”.
And the Mastery unlocks for both gliding and mushrooms are super easy to obtain in less than 40min-1.5hrs in the jungle. To say that those are too hard to obtain and should be nerfed is absurd, to say the least. This shows a complete lack of effort towards any of the new content and instead wanting instant unlocks for your character; a counter point to the Mastery system being a form of end-game progression.
And? That doesn’t make the whole grind absurd.
1) Not a “grind” if you’re getting the currency from many mobs across the entire zone doing multiple events, multiple things. A “grind” is killing the same mob over and over for a chance of a chance of a chance to get a required item (see Boar Liver quest in original vanilla WoW)
2) You’re not meant to get all these weapons right away instantly. It is a long-term goal to obtain them. You even get them free from the Story Mission in Chapter…um, I think it’s 10 through 13, something like that. So if you bring in a bunch of alt characters to Maguuma and complete those Story Missions through the alts, you can unlock multiple skins.
3) At least there is no ‘gold’ cost to them, which would be a real grind. Gold is a generic grindy currency with no attachment to the purpose of the content obtaining it from. This content is set because you -the player hero- are defeating the enemies of the Nuhoch and they’re rewarding you for such.
Hey all,
We discovered an issue with the Halloween Festival that we wanted to share with you: The festival activities are not giving Mastery experience for characters that are level 80.
This was not an intended mechanic, but with the festival underway it would be extremely risky to attempt to correct this right now. Weighing the options, it’s best not to take a risk that could impact everyone’s ability to play Halloween content this year and in future Halloween festivals, as well. We will be taking a look at the festival code after the Halloween event ends and we hope to have this situation corrected for next year’s fall extravaganza.
Thanks for your understanding.
Are they looking into the Wintersday code to make sure that particular content will impact Masteries properly through XP gain?
Remember when exotics were the Gear Cap? Then it was Ascended that was going to be the Gear Cap? Promises.. promises…
Care to source these “promises” you’re referencing that make absolutely no sense without context?
As far as Exotics for gear cap, I do remember that it was the whole 1.5 months post-launch. Such a long time! I mean, Ascended being introduced with the content patch of Lost Shores in November 2012 (while the game launch end of August 2012) because said content just wasn’t quite ready for the launch of the game itself.
Ascended is still level cap. Legendary gear is nothing more than a visual skin with Ascended stats and allows for swapping of stat mixtures. But it is still the same stats and goes no higher. Legendary weapons are proof of this fact and have been in the game since the beginning.
Remember folks… Anet “data” has led them to the determination that their are not players who spend all of their time in WvW. That is straight from an interview with Colin and Mike…
Source-
https://youtu.be/ajDiZkUNpe0Sooooo do you REALLY honestly think anything we do as WvWers will impact their decisions regarding this?
Honestly I could tell from the start it was HoT pve xpac related. That’s the priority. The sooner realized the less often you will be let down
I sure hope they keep the game as diverse and healthy as it is now.
You should be thanking them really. If they weren’t catering to the PVE cash cows you wouldn’t have WvW updates at all.
WoW proved you can put a sparkly star horse on the gem store and make hundreds of millions in a single day.
I’m sorry I’m totally confused… aside from what is coming in the xpac (which you will have to do TONS of pve just to have access to things wvwers already had ie +5 supply), what WvW updates are you referring to? Golem week? Lolololololol
Oh and btw I’m what you would call “a cash cow” and I would designate myself pvx so not all of us “cash cows” are pve… just sayin…
Completely new replacement to Borderlands as a fix against the current stagnation and design flaws in the Alphine one.
New siege in the form of the Siege Generator to help with defensive situations more.
Guild perks especially related to keeps, towers, and so on so that holding them is far more valuable than flipping constantly as well as making it easier to hold them.
A rework of the upgrade system so that it is no longer a gold sink that most players avoid due to the lose of money compared to the potential for the keep to flip. Also along the same lines is the supply/Yak system to prevent the constant griefing from Thief characters against an entire server at multiple locations.
Adding new Legendary crafting items to the WvW loot table that are exclusive to that mode to make it both a trade resource against PvE players or as a self-kept resource.
Supposed new loot table and rework of the loot system to help promote defending beyond just objective flipping that is the current ‘meta’.
They’re doing a lot for WvW this expansion. At least it does seem far more than sPvP, which is just getting some new reward tracks, a single new map and mode and…well, that is it. Hmm.
I’ve purposely undercut and made multiple listings of items I unstack just so that it will cause a temporary market ‘crash’ (or just a spiked price drop) of the items in question. Why? Because it is funny watching people panic and start listing lower and lower until the item comes more in line with a reality price. It does break the price barrier between Sell listings and Buy listings, that is for sure.
I’ve also done the same with Buy orders where I see there is a HUGE disparity gap between those and the Sell orders. I’ll take and list like 20 or so different Buy orders that are a few silver/copper separate, but they are significantly higher than the last highest order. This way all following orders go around that price range and the gap shrinks.
Many times I lose money on these tactics. Other times I make money. But what is funny is watching speculators fall for the listings and it is almost like I’m manipulating them into doing it. ;P
I’d just like to point out that the Friday reset was always a horrible design, especially for T1 servers. Why do I say this? PEOPLE HAVE JOBS! That’s right, for those that work for a living on a M-F 9-5, the Friday reset was horrible. Especially true for those that had a commute to get home. By the time of getting off from work, getting home, putting food on the table and in the bellies, it would be well after 6pm. And from then it would be queue, queue, queue all night long trying to get into the maps.
This new change is appreciative of those folk and allowing them a more equal chance of participating in the weekly WvW ‘map reset rush’. Sure there are those that work weekends and others who have sporadic schedules that will clash, but the old saying of “can’t please all the people all the time” comes into play. Although I’d really like to have seen Plan B kept in play for allowing more of Saturday to matter to the players on the NA server (6pm PST is 9pm EST!), the overall reset change is still much appreciated.
You can get into the Guild Hall map if you do not have Heart of Thorns and hang out with people, but most of the HoT guild features in there will be disabled for you. For example you will not be able to enter the Arena. I’m not going to go into detail on which specific things will be accessible and which are not because I’ll probably get it wrong
So we’re back to saying that if players want to GvG in arenas, they must own HoT? I’m very cool with that. I honestly thought that the whole Guild Hall would be locked off from non-HoT owners and that they’d have to use the Guild HQ in LA to access guild features. It’s nice to know that they can at least enter it, I guess. I wouldn’t have minded it being locked off, considering that it IS a feature of a paid expansion which is more or less subsidized by the players that purchase said expansion. To have non-purchasers access it kind of makes them…sort of semi-freeloaders.
With all things raid considered (boss timers, gear requirements, role requirements, importance of group make up, need for healing, the transition away from zerker meta, best loot rewards on weekly restricted official runs), I want to say that it is about time to have personal aggro, dps, healing… meters…
Stats and numbers will matter come HoT, so that means players will need more transparency.
Edit- thanks knighthonor, you reminded me of something…
Also, it’s 2015 and three years into the product life, so I think we are at the point where we should be able to move around and customize our UI, and that includes individual ability placement on the combat bar.
Meters are UI intrusive. GW2 was designed with minimal UI intrusion and will most likely stay that way through the foreseeable future. This also effects customization of the UI as well.
Abilities can be rekeyed for the player’s liking on which key does what, but they cannot change the overall placement of the abilities. It would task the developers with many extra work loads, and have a hard time with such abilities as those that have mutliple layers (3 swing Hammers, for example). Besides, the Revenent’s locked-in 6-0 skills per Legend channeled kind of confirms that this will not change any time soon.
Also, it is widely known by communities and experts that meters help encourage toxic behavior among players in any given game. Maybe not all players will be toxic around those, but certainly a large, very vocal portion will be. It will also cause issues with a split in the community (using Meters in something as simple as a Tequatl fight and yelling at players there too, or requiring it to follow a PIN in WvW). Worse is meters are static metrics that don’t involve things like Dodge, damage mitigation, boons, and on on. Those single static meters do nothing but try to judge a player based a on number rather than their true skilled abilities to play the game. It also is labeling of a player rather than just having them as a member of the community.
Conclusion: meters are bad, m’kay?
I started a “Story Mode ONLY! Not meta, any welcome” group for C. Manor. Had 3 people join, 2 level 80 and a lower level, which was fine. However the other 80s said “kick the newb”, and I mentioned how it’s a “Story Mode group and new players are welcome, did you not read the LFG advert?”. So they vote kicked me instead and I got booted out of a group that I had started. Like, seriously, WTF?!
Maybe everyone got too complacent with him and thought it was going to be a face-roll easy fight. Too bad for the over judgment on their part.
Someone may have datamined it as coming back this Halloween. If that is indeed the case, most likely they’re trying to dump before a complete price crash.
I can see this being the biggest complaint after HOT and people stop whining about raids. “X profession killed me just because he has a specialization, P2W!” And honestly they almost have a point, specializations are made to be no stronger than core specs, but no mmo is ever 100% balanced.
Was there P2W complaints with WoW releasing the DeathKnight as a WotLK-only class? How about the Monk as only for MoP? Or the Draenor/Blood Elf for TBC only? And the up coming Legion is required for the Demon Hunter class, otherwise no-dice. These are EXPANSION EXCLUSIVE CLASSES.
This is not something new to the genre either. It is beyond a decade old thing that even UO did with it’s 2003 expansion Age of Shadows (2 expansion exclusive classes released). Although EQ beat it by releasing The Ruins of Kunark in 2000 with an expansion-exclusive race of lizard people that had unique racial abilities. EQ’s The Shadows of Luclin is more appropriate example of introducing both an expansion exclusive race and an expansion exclusive class of the Beastlord.
Bottom line? Do I have one? Oh yes, that I do: Expansion exclusive content. Buy-2-Play (the business model of this game) said content or don’t play it. It is very much that simple.
The answer is: No. Elite specs should NOT be available to everyone. They’re on par with other specs and will be balanced out with more time given to find proper counters and get more familiar with their capabilities. The reason why they SEEM to be PERCEIVED as “OP” is that players are not as familiar with their specs or how to counter them (unlike the ‘core’ specs which are 3 years old).
However they are still a key piece of the HoT expansion. No, it is not “a pay wall”. It is an expansion. If you want the FEATURES OF THE EXPANSION, you must SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS WHO SPENT MONEY CREATION THE EXPANSION. There is no locking away any potential anything. This is the way the world works. I’m sorry, but nothing in life is truly free. Somewhere, somehow, something must be paid for it.
That area “seems” to be playable because that’s an area that was part of where your character goes in the story instance at the beginning. However the uninstanced part is not accessible this weekend. Only the part within the red boarder that you keep getting teleported to is accessible for this Beta event. There’s also a canopy section that you can get to once you have gliding unlocked.
Ever other elite spec’s traits are good for both solo/teamplay while Druid is stuck with stuff like “Live Vicariously” and “Natural Mender” which basically means these are useless in any kind of play where you’re not around other people .
These should be changed to include Pets when you say Allies .
The Celestial Form spells (I know 5 has dmg) should have some form of dmg effect or hit effect no matter how small .
You’re basically making an Elite Spec have to either choose to play in a group or sacrifice 30 – 40% of it’s kit while every other spec has a choose to have fun and do whatever in both environments .
Rangers have been shafted since the start, making their only new spec in a new xpec only half usable in any kind of solo play is just BS .
It is not “shafted”. 4/5 of the current spec lines for Rangers are all damage based. So what if this one spec option is healing only? You don’t have to use it when solo playing at all. It is meant for group synergy and group play (just as the Scrapper is, Ventari spec is, and quite a few other builds are). Build something outside of Druid if you’re going to be solo playing this game.
Not everything in this game is needs to be or is going to be built around solo play. That is horrible design in an MMORPG.
How in the world would anyone think it appropriate to discuss sexual things and some rather perverted and abusive sexual things in map chat?
This is internet. I would be more surprised if this did not happen.
I had to pop into this thread to mention how this EXCUSE needs to end. “This is the internet” does not excuse a person for being an anti-social neanderthal. Hiding behind a wall of anonymity shouldn’t be a viable way of saying things that your family would be ashamed off, your boss would fire you for, and sometimes could get you thrown in jail if at all it was publicly said.
Unfortunately thanks to the “it’s the internet, dude” attitude, some of this had bled through the 4th wall into actual day-to-day conversation by children/teens who have grown up knowing the internet their entire life. It is getting way out of hand and social morality has been crumbling because of it. Respect, something that used to be normal, is becoming a scarcity.
No, I don’t notice a trend at all. There are none and still will not be any mounts. They are very proud of their game world and waypoint system. Besides, mounts would really mess with things like lower character leveling (mounted zergs clearly content before an unmounted newb can even reach it on foot), WvW (again, mounts vs non-mounts), and other aspects of the game. So many negative factors for what? No benefit at all.
There are none and still will not be any dueling. That kind of " guild dueling" is no different than what is available to players right now in making a Custom Arena map. They choose the layout/map, the number of players per each team, winning conditions, etc. It is the same thing, but it by no means nor will it ever be /duel in the middle of a city by its bank or trading post or mailbox. The point of it is a custom guild vs guild fighting or other things of that nature, not necessarily for individuals trying to measure their ego by trying to solo other players.
Pretty sure that Tempest with those 3 trait lines comes with the bonus of extra boons that the Druid can’t provide with a singular Druid trail line without taking something like Spirit ones. And the Tempest spec line does provide DPS just as much as healing….boons and shields too. It’s an all around spec that does well with whatever synergy that you set up.
And a Staff Ele just by them self with a full healing gear set, healing runes, healing sigils, and the proper spec design can be a great healer. Heck, I’ve power healed some peps in WvW with just a simple Celestial build.
Hello!
Anybody?!
You do know that real people are at the end of these keyboards.
My wife is a nurse and has/will miss all the beta events because those weekends she has/had to work. She has tried to trade shifts or get them off but was unable.
Wanting to show her full support, she purchased the 99$ version, and for what?
Thanks again for ignoring the real people that made this game what it is today.
P.S
Support nurses, they support you.
She purchased the Ultimate Edition to get $50 worth of Gems, the HoT client ($50 value), and $25 worth of digital content( Additional Character Slot, Miniature Revenant Rytlock, Revenant Finisher, Mordremoth’s Bane Guild Hall Decoration, Heart of Thorns Glider Skin).
The Beta weekends are available to play by players when they are open. Whether or not a player can make said weekends due to real life constraints is not of affect by A.Net or its staff. As unfortunate as it may be, those players will miss out.
However…. what is of the matter of it all? They’re already going to be playing the game on/after October 23rd ‘for reals’, while all progress and obtained goods for the Betas are wiped. Get a precursor drop in Beta? Wow would that suck because it means absolutely nothing as you -the beta tester- cannot keep it. Basically she’d be wasting her time on the weekend to Beta test instead of progressing her main characters or prepping up for a Revenant character or whatever.
I may not agree with the daily/weekly system, but I understand why you guys do it.
However, with Raids on a weekly lockout, what is my incentive for raiding again in the same week to help other players?
I feel that this will create an environment where raids will be set teams and you are in or you are out unless someone wants to tag along and help which may in reality be spending many hours for no personal reward.
How will this be addressed? This is promoting exclusionary play which is always detrimental.
Your incentive is to help allies, friends, and/or guild members. To not come across as a selfish individual who’s only in it for the personal rewards and nothing else. To get more experience through taking other people in the raid so that you can better improve your individual skills while helping them improve theirs.
But by tell of your post, individual rewards and personal gains are all you care about within this game. I’m kind of sad for you because of this.
If i knew i would need a dedicated healer class to clear content in HOT i would never had boughted the expansion. Triple Trouble is a fine exemple of a hard challenge and there is no need to have dedicated healer and zerk is not optimal either, devs just went the easy wasy and that makes me regret i purchased the expansion. I moved from my last game to GW2 exactly because i was tired to wait for hours for healers. Can i please have my money back ?
Raids were announced a month or so ago. It was kind of a given that raids would require some major change to the way big PvE content is approached such as the Triple Trouble. That content is unlimited in players (until map cap) and is easy to approach. Raids are 10-man approach with limited players for support, damage mitigation, and damage output.
Druids were also announced in January 2015 during the HoT reveal. In almost every other game that has had a Druid class, it has been some nature attuned class with a type of heal. EQII, WoW, Vanguard, DAoC, and so on. Unless you’re completely unaware of the history of the genre and it’s classes, it was pretty much expected that the Druid would be a healer class.
There’s no problem with these new pets. However you must remember to heal them in combat. You don’t want your dino sore!

Bought this game 1 yeas or so ago and i think its a little bit to harsh for veterans to pay full cost of the game when we already haw the game.
Discuss !
There’s already a merged thread about the pricing discussion here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/HoT-Price-Feedback-Base-game-included-merged/first
There is also nothing to “Discuss!”. You’re a player, but by no means a “veteran” of the game. I’ve been playing GW2 since the beta weekends in Spring 2012, before the launch. Karka event: I was there. Mad King’s first return in over 300 years: I was there. The crazy Wintersday toys: I was there.
I am a veteran of this game. And guess what? I happily payed the $100 for the best version of HoT. Why? Because I support the game I enjoy. I don’t ask for everything free or cheap.
It was made very much clear that the accounts would be cloned ONCE for the Beta weekends and continue across all Beta events. It is the player’s fault for not reading this or having other issues with it.
Besides, it does not matter on bit. There is a singular Beta Weekend event left between now and the HoT launch on October 23rd. And that will be wiped shortly after said event. And then…and then, the actual launch happens. And we’re back to stating that the Beta doesn’t matter.
Thoughts of a graphic upgrade in the future?

They’ve been doing slight graphics upgrades. That is why a couple months ago they patched so that we have the options for SMAA and choice of ambient occlusion or light adaptation.
However, there are 3rd party options to improve your own personal visuals of the game. Here’s a step-by-step for it too: https://youtu.be/a5i5-2X4wMA

Indeed, this “expansion” currently is not worth the money, especially for a WvW player.
Even as a PvE players, all you get is one new zone, which will have 3-4 maps, each with 3 levels.
First of all we do not know how concentrated these levels will be, or how large each map will be. But even then this isnt enough to call this a full expansion.
Sure there could be come living story episodes, but again that’s just an assumption going by anet’s track records on promises. And even the last LS episodes were rather pathetic. you could log in and complete the entire thing in a couple of hours, after than it was was grinding for the achievements! Yes yet more grinding in a game they promised would not have grinding! Because they were trying to get these out every 2 weeks they lacked real content, so again something I would not pay for!We get the revenent, but then it seems anet are bloating the news on specialiations and masteries. Both of these are not really content, they are changes to a game’s mechanics.
And I am sorry but I dont want to pay for changes to mechanics for a game, I pay for content. Hence why I will not be buying HoT until I find a store selling it at a more reasonable price. So we still end up with the question of what exactly are we buying here? half an expansion being charged at full price? With maybe a few LS episodes thrown in in a year?
-9 Elite Specializations
-1 new Class (Revenant)
-Raids
-Guild Halls (with such things as new Guild Armors, Guild Weapons, and Scribing)
-4 new Maguuma maps
-Masteries
-Access to the Living Story: Season 3
And by tell if your post, it seems that you’ve not payed for anything beyond the base game, nor ever will. So are you even a “customer” that they’d aim for? Because you don’t seem to support the game very much at all. You’re essentially on par with F2P players; and when HoT launches and you don’t purchase it, you’ll be treated as such as well. Good luck with that…
“Hardest” is subjective base on an individual’s preferences, styles, and experience. I’d found that the Winter Wonderland was one of the easiest to perform, however rushed it may be. Mad King’s Clock Tower was also relatively easy; even its first year iteration that had a bunch of players clashing together on the same map.
Hardest in my perspective is a kind of tedium. And the biggest culprit of tediousness is Drydock Scratch. The length of the whole thing, the repetition at the end, the points of complete death to near death to complete death again. A sourly designed jumping puzzle.
When the game came out 400 gems per bag slot was no big deal. Gems are inflated now and it still costs 1200 gems to upgrade one character to max bag slots.
For a player just starting out that’s somewhere between 180g-200g just to max out bag slots on one character. A little ridiculous for someone just starting out.
Would be nice if the 3 additional bag slots were given free or the price was cut by a minimum of 50% to a more reasonable 200 gems per slot making it cost 600 gems total for full upgrade.
You realize that you’re measuring that in Gold-to-Gem conversion, which is not the sole -or main- way that A.Net wants those obtained, right? 400 gems is exactly $5. So to upgrade a character fully, that is $20, or roughly 1.33x a month’s subscriptiokitten5. However after obtaining all these for that $20, you’ll never have to worry about it again. At the end of this month -August- it will be 3 years of GW2. Still far cheaper to purchase bank slots and bag slots for characters instead of paying 3 years of subscription for a game such as WoW.
P.S. Gold-to-Gem rates are not intended for new players starting out. They are intended for players who have been playing for a while who have surpluses of gold to spend on things like that.
Map is not good for roamers/camp flippers
in WvW Desert Borderlands Stress Test

I’m pretty sure the intent of camps was never, NEVER for the purposes of being solo-able. That is why they added in the Sentry guys between points, which are entirely solo-able. The camps are intended to be taken by small groups of a handful of players or large groups. But again, they’re not really intended for solo players. That has more to do with Ascended gear creep (yes, it did creep a bit in comparison between 2012 and present) and creative play adjustment by players. But that is to change with the new WvW, which is a great thing.
Right, anet is under no obligation to not to tank market values of expensive items or screw up player confidence in any mechanical aspect of their game. They could give out precursors for 5g or turn all current dyes to pink next update if they really wanted to, but that doesn’t mean these are good ideas just because they have the ability to go through with them.
To be fair, when BL skins started getting removed ANet did clarify it wasn’t permanent and that they would be rotating them back into the game, the only thing they weren’t clear about was the schedule of the rotation. The prices became inflated despite buyers and sellers knowing it would be undermined at any moment, ANet is not liable to support the price after having given fair warning.
This is so very much true. The inflated price is because players hording them away while putting limited market listings in order to inflate the price (basically cornering the market). That and combined with how long they’ve been out of market production by being unlisted.
The price was insanely impossible to afford them even with just gem-to-gold transfer. The weapons range from 1100g for an axe to 1400+g for a greatsword. Although a fool I am to neglect to realize that with the reintroduction to the market that the price would tank to where now they’re around 300-500g each as of this posting (thanks GW2Spidy!). At the now current market I would have been able to afford a currency exchange and directly purchase a skin from the TP.
That is neither here nor there. The point of my post remains the highlighted aspect of it: BL Chest are overstuffed with ‘filler’ junk that serves no purpose or value to the player-customers that purchase them. I’m fully aware of what these things are, but even the lowest of items to come from these MYSTERY BOXES (no, they’re not gambling boxes, because that would be against US Federal gambling laws as well as many international ones too) should have value to the customers that purchase them. There are other game companies like Trion and cringe EA/Bioware that have boxes that serve a far better purpose and have far better odds for their customers than those of the BL Chests. How is it that A.Net cannot do the same?
So the issue remains that the BL Chests have been padded with a lot of useless things, while the more of the useful things have been pushed to an extreme rarity or removed altogether. And many of them have been made Account Bound only, thus removing any trade value at all (the Raven mini mentioned above is an example of this). I know “it’s RNG, man!”. But even with randomized odds, it should not be that bad when customers are spending money on your product. I realize I could have just as easily received some 371gold from just straight out exchanging the gems across the line, but not the point or reason.
There needs to be a serious revamp of the drop rate of items within the BL Chests as well as a hard look at the items contained within and whether or not they hold any value to the customer. Repair Canisters and Friend Teleports are two items that just hold no value at all and need to be removed completely from the loot table. Boost dust just the same (considering there’s a vendor that sells it for cheap right next to the Black Lion trading post person). (TL:DR part) The excessive padding of these Chests has to change for the better, for the consideration of the player (i.e. customer).
Arena Time Tokens should be removed too. Thankfully didn’t get any -this time-, but have also seen them as a complete waste of loot table, especially for those PvEers who do not interact at all with the PvP arenas. They too are account bound, so we cannot even sell them to PvPers, who -thanks to the rewards system- earn quite a bit of gold to buy said Arena Time Tokens directly.
Also, lastly I’ll again mention the 3-ticket cost. Really? The item used to cost 5 tickets (when even available) and to drop it to 3 is only a 40% discount for whatever limited time frame for their reintroduction. These weapons celebrate the history of Scarlet Briar and Living World Season #1, yet this is the cheapest they become? When Balthazar weapons were introduced, not only were they 1 Ticket each, but the Chaos and Torment weapons were also reduced to 1 Ticket each (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/balthazars-weapons-mini-piglet-and-mini-orange-kitten-in-the-gem-store/).
This keeping of artificial expense for a reintroduction feels less like a reintroduction and more like a way to get players to purchase more chests with a far less than courteous drop rate. I really don’t want to say “cash grab” because I I don’t want to believe in that sort of thing with this company. This latest change and the evidence kind of disagrees with that, though.
Dreamthistle weapons have been reintroduced. Yay! Very beautiful, highly sought after weapons that haven’t been seen since the Tower of Nightmares over a year ago (maybe longer? Ya, longer.). But that isn’t the issue.
Those reintroduced Dreamthistle weapons cost 3 tickets to obtain. That is 30 scraps to which a minimum is at least 10 chest to open; if one was even lucky enough to get 3 scraps every chest (an impossible task).
~1 key is 125 gems ($1.56)
~5 keys is 450 gems ($5.62)
~25 keys is 2100 gems ($26.25)
But you cannot buy gems in individual, they must be bought in packs of …
~800 for $10
~1600 for $20
~2800 for $35
~4000 for $50
~8000 for $100
So for a player to purchase the largest key pack, they must get at least $30 worth of gems (1600+800), which would leave them with 300 gems extra to spend on whatever else in the store they’d like.
For the sake of trying to get scraps through investigating numbers, I went ahead and used 3000 gems of the 4k included in the HoT pre-purchase. That is $37.50 worth of gems used.
~2x Dye Packs (8 common, 4 uncommon. All duplicates of pre-owned. 0 Rare, even after forging them.)
~2x Crimson Dye Kits (2 common, pre-owned dyes. 0 Rare).
~4x minis (one rare Holographic Scarlet, one account bound Raven, 2 common).
~2x Total Makeover Kits.
~8 Teleport to Friend (how useless is this item anyways? It seems like a total padding of junk into the chest. This game has the most travel friendly system of Waypoints in any MMO ever. Why oh why would anyone need this item?!)
~1x Plush Tybalt Backpack skin
~1x Killer Whale Quaggan Backpack skin
~11x Boost Enchantment Powder
~3x Bank Access Express
~3x Trading Post Express
~2x Instant Repair Canisters (Why weren’t these removed with the change to the cost of repairs? I could understand their usefulness when repairing full armor sets cost 1-2g, but now? No, they should have been removed a long while ago.)
~1x Utility Primer
~1x Metabolic Primer
~10x Mystery Tonics (Had the Endless Mystery Tonic since Week-1, so kind of a pointless item to me personally. And with so many other transformation items, it again screams ‘padding’ for the chests.)
~A dozen or so (12+) Boosts (not sure which ones, banked them all with other boosts I already have in my bank)
~17 Black Lion Ticket Scraps
Saved the best for the last of the list, right? That totals in 1.7 tickets, not even a full 2 tickets for $37.50. And how many tickets are needed for the reintroduced Dreamthistle weapons? 3 Tickets. THREE! The cheapest weapons out of all available right now still cost a minimum of 2 tickets.
I do recall some patches ago that they [ArenaNet] said they were going to clean up the Black Lion Gem Store as well as improve the chests to make them better. Whatever happened to those changes? Well, the did remove a bunch of variety items from the Store, but also did the same to the chests (for the worse).
Remember when chests had Minis 3-Pack? Now those were removed here (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/daydreamers-weapons-snow-owl-mail-carrier-and-a-black-lion-chest-update-in-the-gem-store/) and replaced with an Egg here (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/white-feather-wings-gallant-weapon-set-and-black-lion-chest-update-in-the-gem-store/). That Egg only contains 1 mini, taking up the same rewards slot as the Mini 3-Pack used to. 1/3rd the prize for the same price.
The same day they added in two Mail Carriers to the circulation, although their rarity is probably up there as well. Having opened multiple chests between then and now, I have yet to see either of them.
(cont.)
I was playing a game of stronghold the other day and I realized that the mesmer was easy to spot out of his clones. He had just gotten supply and had the supply symbol over his head so every time he created a new clone I just looked for the little floating barrel. Needless to say he was not happy and rightfully so. I believe the best way to fix this is either
1) Disable the symbol for mesmers.
2) Put the symbol on all of the mesmers clones.
3) Disable the symbol for the entire enemy team. Each of these three options has its ups and downs but they are in my opinion the best options.
Thief has the same issue with their Thief Army elite skill. And it’s not a problem, it’s a risk for the Mesmer that they can choose to have or not have. If they’re a Mesmer, then they probably should pick to be not running supply. Instead they’re much more useful at breaking guards for the doorbreakers or defending their own gates.
This should not change and I think what it is right now is the best option.
They’re not completely worthless. They are still available as the game is still running. The game isn’t going F2P like Wildstar, so they’re not going to pull those versions. There are still those out there that would like to rather pay $20-30 to try the game’s core rather than spending $50 for the whole package of HoT. And no, they won’t automatically upgrade to HoT (that makes no logical sense at all because of the price difference).
