As a ranger main reading this thread it seems like everyone is overwhelmingly unhappy with Soulbeast, and I would have to agree.
This spec entirely caters to the section of the community that cried out for a petless ranger since launch. The Dagger is dreadful for Dps and Condi, it has none of the signature animation flare that all ranger weapons have in some regard. The Utilities while interesting for buildcrafting won’t see any playtime. The traitline is weaker than the core specs. The spec has focused around the Beastmode mechanic which is interesting but will ultimately fall into the same rut ranger suffers from now, a select few pets will be used 24/7 with minimal switching.
Soulbeast – 3/10
:/
There are currently 45 pets in the game (not including the 5 new pets with PoF) of which maybe 6 or 7 are viable?
It would seem Australia hasn’t been included in the Eligibility section of the contest rules. Could we still submit designs with no intention of receiving a prize?
I honestly couldn’t care less about the prizes, I just want the chance to see some of my designs in game.
Pretty much a call to arms for everyone out there with multiple aura items, Please post a picture of your Character showing what the auras look like stacked together ^.^
As the title says, does anyone else think ranger builds have become rather plain and predictable?
Has anyone come up with any wacky off meta builds or gear sets they think might work?
Black Citadel maybe?? not really sure
So I just completed the Koda’s Blessing Achievement for the Aura and I have to say it’s rather underwhelming. Firstly it costs about 500-550g to complete – So you would expect something along the lines of a Ghostly infusion seeing as you could buy 2 Ghostly infusions for that price.
Now this Aura was obviously designed with the lighting of the new Map in mind because as soon as it is brought into another map, say Lion’s Arch, it becomes barely visible, Not to mention the fact that it barely shows up on Norn and Charr characters due to the size of it.
People after Auras are in most cases looking for something obnoxious or flashy to show off, I think this item should be amped up abit.
Pretty much the title, don’t care if they’re behind an insanely stupid RNG wall or whatever, Just please let them not be tied to Achievement points.
Astralaria IV-Magnification Lens- Fail event
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Susanoo.2586
Ok this seriously needs to be addressed, it is beyond frustrating trying to fail a Meta event on the megaservers….
I just recently finished my tier 3 Collection for Astralaria and I’ve been welcomed to the quite daunting challenge of maxing every single Mastery, does anyone know the current best way to level them? Meta? Farms? something???
As what would probably be the second or even the most evade reliant class in the game, this AF generation nerf goes directly against it. You have to take damage in order to heal and now generate AF….
This is just poor design.
essentially the title. Make our form like Death Shroud. I mean the form is essentially the same now that we can’t effectively generate AF anymore.
As many know ranger has over time begun to trail further and further behind the other professions, but now it seems the release of HoT finally cracked a lot of players, I’ve seen dedicated Ranger mains from launch changing professions because Ranger as a Class struggles to keep up. I now see pleas on Reddit to have the class reworked, or at the very least maintained. The Class is Riddled with community devised work-arounds (Looking at Sword auto attack) because we care for our class and we want to see it viable.
I’m sure many will agree when I say, Please, PLEASE, Someone help our class. It’s really sad seeing people who were so passionate about a class almost feel like they’re forced to leave just to keep up.
My issue isnt with the concept of the druid spec, its implying the druid spec is overpowered or ‘gross’ when its barely even used in the clip. Just gives people a false view of the spec.
Its good and all that the F2 was changed back to the smokefield because the community called for it but I feel like that just made Smokescale really underpowered and too situational. Personally I’d rather be able to control a burst than be able to setup a smokefield that serves no purpose unless you run pet taunt or blast finishers. And now on top of that the Smoke assault received a Nerf to the number of Hits. The damage was already semi-lackluster and easy to evade large chunks.
only issue is the baseline ranger class can do this, and more efficiently at that. You only have the druid spec on for the cele form stealth..
Not sure if this is a bug or what but does anyone know if Daze Duration is capped at 100% because it looks like Moment of Clarity and Mesmer runes don’t stack
Just curious, when will we be able to start the collections for the new HoT Legendary precursors.
Using Gs #3 Skill Swoop while Immobilized will lock your character in the Falling animation, unable to do anything for the duration of the immobilize.
Personally I’d love Might to buff healing power in some way, love to see what everyone else believes.
Now thats a bit too much for damage. I only suggest they change CAF skills to have some form of Healing → Damage, it would still allow for Sigil/Rune/Trait/Utility activation but maintain the focus on being a Support character. So its not overpowered but people can still keep up pressure in ways, Sharpening stone procs while in CAF for example.
I like the Concept though it would have to be some form of thoroughly tested scaling instead of a flat percentage modifier, as it stands if you build a druid with Full ascended clerics you end up with roughly 1550 Healing power (With Runes) and heal for 1.1k on CAF #1 Cosmic Ray, 10% of which being 110, insignificant damage that just seems irrelevant.
It needs to reward players who dedicate their builds to breaking this ‘Zerkermeta’ and building healing power.
Now this is just an idea.
A Percentage of Healing while in Celestial Avatar Form is now also dealt as AoE Damage to Enemies.
Or possibly even something along the lines of Traditional Damage scaling on the skills but instead of scaling with Power it scales with Healing power.
Now to coin a very unpopular term, these ideas ‘Punish’ not building into healing Power (the Druid’s Strength), BUT they still make playing without healing power viable. Allowing for the Minority out there to continue playing their Builds while still using the Druid, albeit less effectively than if they were running say full Clerics or Nomads.
Pretty much as the title says, Just curious as to how the Druid is going to work Underwater.
Call of the wild → We heal as one → Vine Surge → Smokescale Unrelenting assault
Insta 18 might on pet with Altruism runes for the big Damages :P
Ok for starters, A lot of people are looking forward to this new style for druid, it could possibly give us a definite spot in high end PvE/Raiding/WvW, it was stated from the start this elite spec was support focused hense the minor traits mentioned. Nobody is forcing you to take druid, Yes don’t get me wrong it does suck that some people may not even use their elite specs because it doesn’t suit their playstyle but that can’t be helped, Arenanet cannot cater to every single aspect of the community with just this Expansion.
This is just outstanding, greeted today with the friendly sight of ranger nerfs the day after the patch. I mean Honestly???? As some people have mentioned there have been actual game breaking bugs that go longer without a hotfix. Every person that saw and complained about the “100% quickness” most definitely didn’t try to make a build around it cause they soon would’ve realized it was complete trash, you had to have your HEAL on autocast for this to work, do people not realize how impractical this is before complaining?
The best thing you could essentially maintain was Swiftness, Fury and Regen, some of the most commonly available boons in the game. And as for the Might, there’s this thing called ‘Boon Stripping’, you know, that mechanical counterplay to boon heavy builds. 1 steal from a thief after a Ranger has blown half their Utilities to maintain these buffs and they’re a sitting duck with no heal.
Now I know I’m part of the minority here but as someone who has purchased Electro Blue and Electro Pink, two of the most expensive dyes, This new birthday present has made me pretty kitten angry. Why should someone get something that has equal value to that of a Precursor for free?
Granted they may not be truly worth the amount of gold they’re listed for… blah blah but they’re still a big ticket item, just as legendaries are, They’re something you can be proud of but this present has taken away all value.
Very much agree with this post, being an Australian player in a guild of friends, many of us would be beyond happy to have 200 ping, though usually averaging around 500-800 at the best of times, It becomes quite infuriating.
So I was just casually messing around with a Condition build for my ranger, thought I might give it a try with more Condition duration cause apparently everyone runs around with Lemongrass soup and Hoelbrak runes now…
Man, Good thing I’ve got these really cool weapons that I can change the stats on
Oh wait..
What the actual kitten.
Exactly so, I miss my Paragon :P
Just a fun little post.
If you were to add a weapon to the game,
1) What would you add?
2) What Class would it be for?
3) Some possible Skills or Mechanics?
4) What would you like the Legendary to look like? Unique effects?
1.
Personally I would love to see a 1 handed Spear/Javelin that I could use Mainhand and Offhand on land.
2.
I’d want it on my ranger of course but you could add it to most classes honestly especially Guardian and Warrior.
3.
For ranger it could be a Pure power single target close to mid range weapon, have a mixture of say 900 range skills and Melee range skills, some nice lockdown, I.e Cripple/immobilize etc.
4.
Leaving the Gw2 universe a bit, I’d want the Legendary to be Zeus’s Thunderbolt, a Spear made of pure white lightning, maybe the Sound effect of Thunder cracking as you throw it or even the bolt arcing and zig zagging on the way to the Target.
Of course for the sake of the universe you could name it something generic like Wrath of the Gods or something seeing as “Bolt” is taken.
Now I’d love to see what everyone comes up with.
Personally I see this as a little Jab at ArenaNet exactly for being so secretive with their Goals and plans for the future, It has almost been 2 years from these posts and we are yet to hear an update or anything regarding them?
I’d be completely content if ArenaNet came out, put everything on the table and gave us simple reasons for why things such as this have been overlooked or put on wait.
If it were as simple as “At this point in Gw2s Development we’ve decided to Focus more on Living story and Character progression rather than work on ________” Why not simply just say so.
These things have just been left in the dark and people still have them on their minds because we haven’t been given a plan or explaination for what is actually going to happen.
“We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary. On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013. Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game.”
And~
“Although Johanson couldn’t commit to a timeframe, new weapon types and expansion of current types to more classes is absolutely in the works.”
-Your friendly neighbourhood ranger, reminding you what could have been.
Still laggy as all hell, Needs fixing asap
+1 just for that smiley bear, 10/10
I can’t honestly be the only one that is getting sick of everyone complaining about ranger being overpowered, and “neds nurf pl0x anet”. People need to wake up to themselves, rangers had it pretty tough for the past 2 years ~excluding a handful who could actually handle a fight~ and not until just recently have we been given the ability to actually effectively fight as a Profession and not just be seen as a ‘Free kill’ in the eyes of the community. Granted, it needs some polishing, such as the new PBS animation tell, but these are too be expected when a Class gets essentially a complete overhaul.
In my opinion, you have the Right to QQ about rangers if you so please, IF you’ve played ranger since launch and dealt with all the hate towards the Class.
it is true that Hunters Call can Stack a fair number of bleeds, but when it comes down to it the other offhand weapons are far superior for Condition builds. As it stands the main condition Ranger has access to is bleeds, and for any condition build to work you need sustain and diversity of DoTs otherwise you’ll just have your main condition cleared over and over.
Currently the only use for Warhorn is the limited support it has “Call of the wild” which is essentially 15 seconds of Fury and swiftness attached to a blast finisher on a 35 second cooldown (which in my opinion is very long, but that’s not important).
then + Hunter’s call, which is a Double edged blade, 3k to the target 3k to yourself if you have negotiated the Line of sight issue with the ground you’re standing on.
Now personally I see warhorn as a very supportive weapon, just look at warrior warhorn, 15 second cooldown for swiftness and a cure to all movement conditions for you and ~9~ other allies at 1200 range, and a 20 second cooldown for Vigor and weakness on target with a Blast finisher.
So to recap, Hunters Call- Ok for some bleeds if you like dealing with LoS issues and retaliation, Warhorn pretty lackluster compared to others.
Wish they’d put a little effort into it. Would it kill them to give the longbow a cool animal aspect attack animation like nearly every other weapon has :/
+1 for this, A cool animation on Longbow would be amazing.
I wouldn’t mind seeing something Pet related on the Skill instead, like giving your pet 2 seconds of Evade or something, presently I’d much rather anything than what it currently is. 100% useless
keen to see how this “Purple effect” is going to go with Kudzu
could something possibly be done to this skill to make Warhorn more worth while running, because as it stands, Hunters call is only good for dealing about 4k damage to yourself if the target has retaliation.

Pvp, WvW, not so much PvE anymore
It’s beyond obvious when someone is using speed hacks and down right stupid, after watching someone “lag” forward, in my case a necromancer, catching up to me without swiftness and in plague form its just ridiculous.
Seeing as Warrior Adrenaline degens quicker outside of Combat, I think Death shroud should match that speed, It seems a little cheat-y fighting a Necro that has just built up their life force outside of combat by swapping skills.
Can I just add this
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Suggestion-Existing-creatures-as-ranger-pets
also 100% agree, would love to see some Pet skins
Just a quick shout out to the fact that after Two years, the gear skins start to get a bit stale.
Lets take the Medium class for example, You either get to wear a Trenchcoat or a Trenchcoat. In my case for example I’d love to be able to make my Ranger actually look like a Hunter, with furs and such but apart from the Norn Cultural gear its a bit limited.
Same goes for the Heavy class, your choice is mostly Bulky plate and Chainmail most of which don’t like to play well with each other when you try to mix and match.
Now this is a bit on the extreme side of the scale but I’m sure there are some people who want to wear Full metal armor on an Elementalist or a Robe/Leather on a Warrior.
I can’t really voice my opinion properly but I know others in the community see this issue as well, so feel free to respond and add input on this post.
