Issues after Rising Flames patch

in Account & Technical Support

Syrpharon.7491

I could run GW2 smoothly at max settings since Rising Flames patch.
After it, even by having every graphic setting at minimum, I’m having tremendous FPS and graphic crashes.

My spec:
System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.40 Ghz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD7800 2.0 Gb
RAM: 4 Gb

I have every driver up to date.
What happens is I get to log in and play with some lagging FPS with everything low, but after some 10 to 15 minutes, game freezes and flashes white, the window gets white and system gives the arrested graphic hardware access issue to gw2.exe.
If I keep the game running, my entire screen goes black while pc still running, and I get intense temp increase afterwise.

I suspect with the Rising Flame patch Anet added or changed their basic rendering so that I simply don’t have enough power anymore to run it even with the lowest settings. If it is so, that would suck, compared to my experience pre-patch.

Mystic Coins and Silver Doubloons

I gave some random over in the Players helping Players section all of the nuggets I had cause he was working on Juggernaut & I wasn’t going to use them. He pm’d me the results; 5 Silver Doubloons total. I don’t recall the exact amount of each of the nuggets I sent him; most were around 100 I think.

Getting 5 Silver Doubloons from a few hundred nuggets is fine.

It is really. From 4 full stacks of nuggets I’d average about 20-25 silver doubloons. And Sharkmaw (aka Weyandt’s revent/pirate jp in LA) has the chance to give 2 silver doubloons at a time. I’ve made Juggernaut and I have probably about 60-70 silver doubloons and I get more all the time. Silver doubloon rates are fine as is.

I would like an additional option in the last chest for login rewards to include an option for Mystic Coins though. I don’t see what that would hurt. It’s a once a month bonus for Mystic Coins and you’d have to give up getting 20 Laurels to get them.

What are those nuggets, and where can i find the recipe?

Title says enough.

I’m particularly concerned about the Silver Doubloons currently available on the tp because they are almost not enough to make even one Juggernaut. They are completely impossible to come out unless you get a miserable chance out of a jp chest with a character slot occupied to “farm” them. We need more ways to get the doubloons and we need to adjust the recipe.

Games like DC Universe Online, SWTOR and such are not meant to be innovative or entertaining. They go on just by their name. They need only the minimum effort to appeal to their players, and that’s enough. They don’t try to be better or innovative, they know people will play them just for the universe and the name. In case of SWTOR, just for light sabers.
They are basically copypaste of a standard MMORPG model (WoW) with different textures. And they are meant to be, since their purpose is to make money.

Where can I find THIEF LORE???

in Lore

Syrpharon.7491

Warrior doesn’t need lore explanation, they are just soldiers.

Guardians are trained thanks to Elonian and Canthan magic brought back from refugees and immigrants. They are Paragons with shouts and leadership, Ritualists with spirit weapons, and Monks with all the healing and light magic.

Revenant is the most recent one and it is a mix of Assassin and Ritualist (shadowstep + evades + channeling spirits) plus something new, Mist magic, that we are yet to be given an explanation since Rytlock only came back now. Probably they will try to adjust this in the future.

Rangers have always had that way too, but they have some background in the west Tyria with Druid and forest ambience. But again, apart for their spirit magical side, it’s normal.

Thief is basically a an elaboration of the Assassin. I can think of it as something that came in Tyria from Cantha, and the Daredevil spec strongly encourages this. They are people who learned a few more tricks from the oriental island just to know how to shadow step.

Engineer is obviously the new star. Basically he has appeared because of the technology advancement and industrial development the Charr have brought on, and with the Scrapper he has learned more asuran-like tech with the gyros.

Elementalist, Necromancers and Mesmers are really pretty much the same. The difference in some of their skills (eles conjured weapons, mesmer illusions and such) can be considered just an advancement on previous known knowledge.

Theres no doubt that greatsword will come with elite spec eventually. What i fear is that it will overshadow other weapons forcing everyone and their mom to use it whenever someone like it or not.

Look at warrior for example, nobody use 1h axe as gs overshadow it in its superior damage, on top of that providing selfmight+mobility – something that axe lack.

Eventually they will give all weapons to all the professions in different specs.
Btw Warrior right now can use 1h axe, and it’s pretty strong. I have a war specced both gs and double axe and it kills everything in pve. Even with shoutbow I use axe main hand for its chop

GS is already the weapon spread amongst the professions the most, I’d like the new class to use other lesser used weapons.

We have datamined weapons. So far we can’t tell for sure they are linking one weapon to one legend, but in fact, they are.

Ventari: Staff
Shiro: dual sword
Jalys: Hammer
Mallyx: Mace and Axe

We have one datamined shield left. Maybe they are going to change it, cause honestly, the datamined skills for mace or sword don’t really go well with the skills for shield. But then again, this is the nature of the revenant: doing two different things at the same time.

Agreed. Make Necro decide what they actually want to apply. And see Guardians burn everything to ashes.

The tablet is terrible. There’s very little wifi inside Guild Wars 2, and it doesn’t even have Snapchat. How am I supposed to support my allies without sending captioned pictures of myself making silly expressions?

On another note, imagine these things flying around in a wvw zerg.

If we imagine huge pugs with revenants organized to support with the Tablet, you can stay assured the fights will be all forced to melee because of the upkeep dome which destroys projectiles that can be rotated and moved.

I assume the projectile destruction follows the same rules as other projectile destruction effects in the game, and doesn’t apply to ground targeted abilities. Staff Ele and staff Necro will pretty much ignore it’s existence (the Necro will fear you out of the bubble even). You can also get taunted out of the bubble.

But it’ll make positioning matter more; if there’s no way to flank or surround, the effectiveness becomes a lot greater. It’s still not going to be nearly as effective as the shield generator even then, though, so I don’t think it’ll matter that much to zerg balance.

Yup. Now that I think about it, theywon’t stop siege weapons neither.
Anet, maybe it’s time to make even AoE projectile stoppable. Make those rangers cry.

Revenant Tank-Healer Build

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Syrpharon.7491

Syrpharon.7491

I am thinking of going with those 3 specs as well at least until we see whats next for reveals but mostly same thought only differences would be depending on what game mode playing.

For instance if your going for WvW oriented I would use the Daze Salvation elite rather than extra outgoing healing as you will already be able to do a good amount of extra healing but a daze which you can spam twice (1 for each stance) thats 4 seconds daze on top of other effects like knockback on ventari or defence boost on jalis

Just to clarify tho is the healing 18% + 1 for every 100 healing power so if at 1200 HP then 30%?

Let’s assume to have 1400 healing power.
Every 100 HP you get 1% outgoing heal, so it’s 14%
The buff we get from what it says should work together with the increase of outgoing, so we should have either a sum (18+14= 32%) or a percentage.

If the above numbers are true, adding all the other percentages in Salvation we get
Salvation spec (55%) + Invocation IX (percentage unknown) + Salvation VII alone (32%) = at least 87% of healing power just from traits.

87% + 10% (monk rune) + 12,5% (sigil of benevolence) = 109,5% healing power

This means that the 109,5% of 1400 is 1533.
We should have a 9,5% increase in healing effectiveness.

But since I’m bad at math, somebody else calculate, I’ve surely messed up

You multiplied your healing power by that 109.5% you came up with, but that % is all bonus. Like if I have 1500 healing and just run monk runes and get the 10%, then my effective healing power is not 10% of 1500 (= 150). It is 1500 + 150 (the 10% bonus on top of my normal amount) = 1650.

So if you go balls to the wall healer like that, then you really need to multiply your beginning healing power by 209.5%. You would effectively send out heals with the strength of over 3000 healing power.

Just in case anyone didn’t follow, you already have 100% just because you have a stat number that is 100% of itself. Any bonus gets added on top of the existing 100%.

Thanks.
Overall doesn’t look so bad. It should be able to support provided the Ventari tablet to stay the same as now. Alright, you won’t be doing any damage, but this is not what this build is for, plus your pugs will do damage for ya.

At this point there’s one question: is it too good of a healing for them to keep it like this? Would be game-breaking somehow? To me it doesn’t seem so, but then again…

Syrpharon.7491

I came up with this build now since we have the major healing and supportive traits out.

Area – Thought mainly for WvW huge pugs, In PvP and PvE I’d like to wait the damage legend

Weapon – Staff for front-mid line / Hammer for mid-back line
Gear – Nomad and Cleric

Role – you don’t need to make damage, you support – heal your allies in huge fights and stay front/mid line (you need to hit to heal if you use Staff)
Traits~

Why Salvation III? Because regen can be given by others. You need to max healing. Occasionally if the cooldown for the healing skill in Ventari is short, you can think about II

Why Salvation VI? Same as above, consider swapping to V against heavy condis.
Why Salvation VII? Same as above, consider VIII if orbs can be spammed with healing Ventari skill.
Why Retribution II? Tanky trait
Why Retribution VI? Same as above, IV is too long of a cooldown
Why Retribution XII? Cause healing + tanky = awesome
Why Invocation II? Easy condi clean
Why Invocation V? Cause it heals you for everything you do, consider IV but you don’t want to go too much below the threshold
Why Invocation IX? cause it’s the only truly supportive one, plus it’s a win-win no matter your energy

I’m gonna use this build, I’d like to know what do you think about it :P

There will be a Kormir stance for the Revenant.

Legendary Kormir Stance: invoke the power of the Legendary Goddess Kormir.
When invoked, you are blinded. Any time one of your allies finishes a event, you get credit for completing it instead. Whenever a condition hits you, you steal all boons, mats, and gold from all party members. If party members ask you for help, you will remind them that you are blind and can’t help them any more.

Why is silk going up in price?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Syrpharon.7491

Syrpharon.7491

Problem:
Players, especially new players, who want to main a light profession and want to go for ascended gear have a disadvantage compared to other professions because of the huge difference in price and quantity required between Light armor main component, Damask, and other ascended mats.

Currently:
Damask at 14g

You need for a full armor set (source wiki):
25 Damask for Heavy (350g)
24 Damask for Medium (336g)
36 Damask for Light (504g)

The possible solutions to the problem are (they can all be considered applicable together):

1) lower the number of bolts of silk required to craft Damask from 100 to 50 like the other ascended mats need;
(if you need, you can change the 25 Spool of Gossamer Thread for the 10 thermocatalytic Reagent)

2) since silk cannot be mined or chopped, increase the chance to get silk from savaging blues and greens (since leather and silk are both present in Medium and Light armor, make it so you get minimum 1 leather and 1 silk scrap by savaging leather and light armor);
OR
2a) create worldwide nodes for clothes (creating a node for silk scraps won’t be fair unless it would be a new kind of node all over the map like ores and trees. Maybe harvest new kinds of trees or ambiental creatures only for cloth?);

In general:
- adjust supplies of silk scraps by keeping them on the same line of the other mats.

The quantities of Damask needed for ascended Light gear don’t need to be changed. The new ways to get silk scraps and the new quantities it requires should lower the price of Damask by generating more supplies that are not unbalanced compared to the way you get other mats.

Incomes of silk scraps and the price of Damask are unfortunately related so, John, it is a problem that must be solved on both frontlines.

We could just remove lv requirements on ascended gear, since we already have lv scaling in lower areas, and they have calculated that ascended gear downscaled is almost like an exo, about 5% difference.
The disadvantage would be that we don’t have the full stats of a lv80 yet, so ascended plus downscaling would be a huge help without breaking things for alts.

You forget that balance issues would be present even in pve, since land mobs work differently than water mobs, and water skills are designed to work in water.

Also porting them on land would require a rework of all the animations for the skills, and in the end it’s not like those skills are unique, since they are simply a slight variation of land skills.

The OP felt like “QQ Good players get more money than me” OR “QQ those who play more get more loot than me”.

So If I play guitar for 5 minutes a week, I should be as good as a professional?
Or if I exercise 5 minutes a week I should be able to enter the Olympics?

I may be a bit cynical here, but that’s how it sounded to me.

Yeah, you’re being cynical, and yeah, you didn’t understand OP at all.

Since I am in the same situation as OP, I can comply.
I’m a casual player, and by that I don’t mean playing only 1-2 hours per day like most of people strangely believe a casual does, but I mean playing around a bunch of hours per week, and I can possibly not log in for months If I’m being busy with real life issues.

In real life I also don’t have much money, I have to always be careful on my expenses, and I can allow myself one or two whims only if I’ve planned to save money from the last paycheck. I’m studying at the university and doing part-time jobs to sustain me, and I use GW2 to relax. The trials of a student, I guess.

I’ve bought this game because it was advertised as a casual game, where you could enjoy content and feel free to log in whenever you wanted and still being competitive.
Ok fine, sounds good, but later on I understood that the real content in this game is not the gear, but the fashion. They have underlined this thousands of times making it look like it was a revolution in the gaming world.

If you make fashion your main content, then you should expect people to value skins more than anything else, like it happened. The entire purpose to play the game then becomes to make your character pretty with the skins you want.
In the games of today, you don’t win with more stats, you win with shiny skins.
Problem is, these skins are locked behind long grind and high prices, and casual players like me or the OP don’t have time nor money to invest.

So what? Either a person forces himself to be satisfied with some of the core skins, or he simply goes away because he knows that he will never have resources to get the skins he wants.
I would expect this from a real life business, not from a virtual product made to entertain, especially one where you are supposed to forget about the limits of your real life.
Do I feel entertained? No.
I just feel frustrated because I know that I will never have the opportunity to enjoy what is one of the best parts of the game. I feel frustrated because I’m reminded of my real conditions even if I need to turn off the brain. What’s worse, Arenanet is doing nothing to help players like me, and instead makes things even worse, not only on the skins, but also on the story, now locked behind prices as well.

As a customer and a player I feel ignored and teased: it’s true that I bought the game on a sale discount, but I would logically expect to be able to enjoy ALL of its content, and not just some of it.
If things must go on like this, it’s ok, my situation makes me automatically a non investor. I’m just sad because this game has become like any other.

He does have a point though:
in a game were gear is measured in terms of good looks and quality of texture skins, putting the best quality in a gem store and using low quality textures on core armor is not the best way to amnage the game. One would at least expect same quality on both the sets.

[Suggestion] Serious proposals about Outfits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Syrpharon.7491

Syrpharon.7491

Since a lot of people were, and are, unhappy with the Outfit situation, I’ve just thought of making a list of possible suggestions that are either new or concern already made proposals:

1) Make Outfits mixed with armour pieces:
Simply put, the Outfit section in the Hero panel would have the 6 gear squares to be filled with outfit skins, and each panel can be switched on and off like helms, gloves and shoulders already do, to show the piece of armour below.

2) Make Outfits mixed with helms:
Just unchecking the helm box in the Outfit panel will show the armour helm, allowing us to mix helm and outfit. The helm can still be hidden by unselecting it in the Equipment panel.

3) Make Outfits mixed with helms, shoulders and gloves:
Same as 2, but with the option to show and mix together the three parts mentioned by simply unselecting them.

All the Outfits can still be used in combat while mixed

As other have said, the possible gain from Arenanet would be that people would buy Outfits and Transmutation Stones even more eagerly, if the options to mix and match are extended.

About the clipping issues: Even if clipping already exists with the current system, there may be needed some adjustments, especially if all the armour parts can be mixed. But they would be needed in any case, so no big deal here.

Personally, I’d suggest option number 3, because it looks like a good balanced way to put in some efforts, without spending too much time on it alone, making the interests both of the devs and the community. By playing only around the parts of armours that can be showed off, Arenanet doesn’t have to worry to much when making or modifying outfits, or even adapting armour, because those parts are considered to be removable anyway.
Of course if I could choose I would go for number 1, total mixing, but if we are talking about saving time…

The only thing that brings a tear to my eye is that Taimi is the favourite character of one of the players that posted here on the forum about her physical disability in real life, that was pretty much almost identical to the one Taimi has, and therefore it was thanking the entire staff for coming up with a character she could identify with.

Other than this, she’s just a loly, but will not die for the “Kawaii” factor she brings to the game.

Could you fix Night/Day in Tyria?

At least all those torches weaps or items would be of some use. What’s the point of having light from a flame if you’re not using it?
Think about the black forest in the Svanir’s Fractal. Now that’s something I’d want (a little bit brighter to make everyone happy)

Trahearne can’t die because he is the official mascotte/scapegoat of everything wrong within GW2.
If something happens ingame, remember, it’s always Trahearne’s fault.

If something happens to her, at least let us keep her head in our home area

[Suggestion] Achievements on first run.

I see no reason to restrict achievements to replay.

Focus on the story? Well sure, I will if the story is engaging. With or without achievements.

Invisible restrictions are bad. If the hero window shows that the achievements are unlocked for my second character through the story, then… those achievements should be unlocked.

Replaying instances just for achievements does not make me feel like there’s more content to the episode. It just feels like a cheap tactic to get me to play longer — like you’d find in a subscription game.

Exactly. Skipping dialogues got away from my mind but it definitely need to be there too. And I agree completely with the rest.

Also read this to get more hints about the link between Mordremoth and the sylvari.
My theory on the sylvari and Mordry

Speculation: Rytlock is Rox' father

Rytlock is going through his mating season, so he choose Rox to brutally breed in front of everyone in the wild.
Charrs at their finest.
Also, Rox is pregnant.

Mordremoth could try to corrupt the NC, but they are still sylvari born from the pale tree and connected to the dream, even if it is the darkest part of the dream, aka mordremoth consciusness. Thus attacking the pale tree would give him control over both sylvari and nightmare courtiers.

Leaked Pic of Mordremoth! :-O

Here is a leaked picture where Mordremoth’s about to chow down on Kasmeer.

Cuz I’m a mean and green, and I am BAD!
Bye bye Kassmeeerrr.

The fact that this image gives so much the idea should tell us a lot about how low this game has fallen if they use a bimbo concept for a character…
