jiust log in once every 2 weeks, ..don’t play. in 6 months time, then play. Should have “lots of content” then.

to burn through in a few days, just as you would with an expansion.

Looks like the casuals won.

Firstly, it IS a casual game.

Secondly the main issue in game was not having enough players to defeat the knights. that is NOT a casual vs hardcore issue.

Another “play the way you want, so long as it’s the way I want”, thread.

only reason people can flip, is because someone posts an item for less than it would sell for. It’s their right to sell it for half the price it’s worth, it’s someone else’s right to buy it and sell it for more, if it’s possible to sell for that.

btw, I consider playing the tp, playing the game. I enjoy looking at whats selling cheap, but normally would sell higher. What seems to be increasing/decreasing in price.

I enjoy this. I also like playing other aspects of gw2, and I love taking a break from killing things/exploring to play the tp. It’s just another game mode to GW2…..It doesn’t really affect your game play, you know.

Them having lots of gold, doesn’t affect you. Tbf, they don’t get from thin air, unlike dungeons/farming. Their gold comes from other players, these other players don’t have to use the tp.

(btw, I don’t have lots of gold, ….. I don’t really do dungeons much, because..well, I don’t like doing them daily, it;s boring.
TP, is my way to earn gold, instead of dungeons..why take that from players?)

I can never remember if enemies can see your custom emotes. I would honestly try running by and emoting “/e just wants map completion, do not kill, for the love of god please do not kill!”

they can.

Most of them will kill you for free loot bags.

tbh, what anet should do, is make the 3 maps count as “one”. They’re exactly the same, and getting that last poi will no longer be an issue if it treated the 3 maps as the same in terms of world completion.

I am very happy with ’no risk" thank you very much. (and I die ALOT.)

You want it to be more challenging, then make it more challenging for yourself. Leave us players who are happy with the game out of your ‘improvements’.

People play games not because they like looking at stuff but because of the experience-reward balance. If you have a lot of great maps and no reward for that the game becomes boring and pointless. If you have a lot of rewards for a bad expirience you get a really frustrating game. So saying that this game is just seeking the Not Need To Work For Anything expirience, im sorry but that’s bs.

People?
I play because I like looking at stuff, thank you very much. I play to have fun, not grind. I won’t do something over and over if I feel it’s boring. (Dry Top atm, is boring for me, so I won’t play it…)
But that’s a GREAT thing. I don’t like it, and I don’t have to play it to keep up.

Rewards in this game are “yay, I did it”, and that’s also a good thing, it’s very console gaming like. Solo friendly, casual friendly.’ I have little time’ friendly. These are good things.
There aren’t many mmo’s like this.

It may not be something you like, and that’s ok too, but don’t try to change this game into something you want. Go play the game you want. They are out there.
And do not make it sound like your view of this game is the “right”/only view!

Romance Repetition

Taygus.4571

Heterosexuality may be mainstream and the norm in real life but who knows what sexuality is like in Tyria? Everybody could be aggressively bisexual so having a lot of homosexual relationships wouldn’t really be seen as uncommon.

->This.

Especially since Kryta is mostly based on Mediterranean countries, which were traditionally quite lax on the whole homosexuality thing.

I’m fine with LGBT romances myself – I loved the Caithe/Faolain storyline, personally. KasJory was a bit more forced and kinda felt like fanservice/affirmative action to me, but was still fairly interesting. BUT I’d like some traditional romance too… It’d be nice for a change.

That, and I asked my 4 year old sister (who is generally watching me play GW2) to look away when Kas and Jory were kissing… does that make me homophobic?

would you have asked her to look away if it was a male x female?
And if not…why did you ask her to look away at this scene?

I thought she was too young for that kind of stuff. She could ask questions about why they are kissing and that would be embarassing for me to explain. Same for my parents if they got to know, we’re, you know… Russian (okay we’re also Asians and do not oppose the LGBT community but still).

She even asked me if Marjory was a boy when Kasmeer hugged her!

But , not to young to see a male&female kiss?
Thats what I was asking.

If you think it’s ok to see that, and she asks questions about lesbians, just say that they love eachother the same way mom & dad does.

Thats if it would even occur to her that it’s something odd, kids aren’t prejudiced till we teach them to be.

That is a very good point, but at the same time. I believe difficulty would just weed out people who aren’t really meant to play Gw2. A game should be about overcoming difficulties, not getting your hand held through a tiny little RNG generator. As is that is what GW2 is right now. A giant RNG generator with pretty lights and buttons.
[/quote]

A game should be about having fun.
What you find fun, others may not.

I have to overcome difficulties all day in my kittening life, and you think that because you like to “overcome difficulties” the game shouldn’t be for me?? Go play WoW or something.
This game was advertised to be more casual, accept that that is what it is.

@ OP
I wouldn’t say it’s the most challenging even for me, and that is exactly what I love about the game. I can go online and chill out, doing different stuff, taking my time and just having fun, relaxing. (also I’m the kind of player who buys gems, I supper Arenanet, if they made this much harder, I’d leave.. no second thoughts.. ,, For a challenge just do some of the newer boss, Teq, marionette, 3 jungle wurms..)

You want a more difficult game, play a different, or do more of PvP/WvW.. idk, I’d assume those are more difficult than AI.

anyone else find that the LS is too hard? ..I don’t mind the achievements being hard, I can live without the ap, but it’s pretty frustrating to not be able to complete an episode or if it to take so long that it becomes boring.

the chapt 8, dragon boss, I can not beat. I don’t have a bunch of people I can team up with…..and even if I did..it shouldn;t “require” that.

anyway,,,what I am wondering, is not whether people like the encounter or didn’t find it challenging, I’m wondering if there others who felt it’s too hard…that anet has starting to push to offering “challenging” encounters for those asking for it, but isn’t thinking about those who haven’t.

Again, I’m ok with the achieves being challenging…but the first run through shouldn’t be.

People shouldn’t be able to kick you out of your own lfg. I mean, if they’re gonna do that, they should just create their own.

I would love if anet added like a drop down for requirements, so that people couldn’t join unless they meet those requirements.
*lv80
*classes. (so you can add each class you want, to the point of saying idk, 2 guards, 1 war, 1 ranger, 1 ele.. if you already have 2 guards a 3rd can’t join)
*ap,

I don’t think asking for it to scan for armour would work, so leave that out.

Another thing the LFG really needs, is in openworld to have a “Living Story” section, and “world boss”, so that ads for these 2 don’t override ads for random stuff.

You’d be entitle to a refund, as they’ve shown when they’ve changed other gem items from what they were advertised as.

Certainly does make the unlimited gathering tools alluring, but the cost to convenience is just kind of of silly. And this particular one just seems…skeevy.

What would be fantastic, is if you slot an unlimited gathering tool, all your alts could use it. None of this place in bank, swap, place in bank, swap.

THEN, it would be totally worth 1000g.

For Pve Players, besides looking beautiful and the feeling that you did it, it serves no purpose.

You will do just fine without ascended gear in the current state. maybe try harder in fracs.

In WoW for example you had to get the best gear because if you didn’t, then you couldn’t do the end game raids…

Again, the solution would have been: tokens.
Anet want people to play. The more you play, the more you get tokens and the less people get frustrated by crappy loots.

If you want to give the items some kind of rarity, just make it so people really have to be careful what they choose to exchange them for. make it so that nobody could humanely buy all of the items.

Easy for that, you can only exchange tokens for one of the unique items once. But allow tokens to have a second merchant for crafting items or something.
don’t have the tokens for the unique item, crazy high, expecting people to play 4 or 5 hours a day. The once chance choice would be fair and it would still be unique.

Greater penalties for Death

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

A number of reasons;
its an online game, so how people play effects you

A lack of incentive to stay alive lowers the desire to play well, and* the tension of will you succeed or not*

I don’t want to have to deal with that feeling for every thing I do in game. Go solo some dungeons.
(also how other people play, only afects you if you party up with them. So you know, join a guild with like minded peeps.

death is a mechanic in a game designed to help teach you what you did wrong, but currently it is an acceptable tactic to embrace death and power through.

I never in inbrace death. I try and avoid it all costs. you add more death penalties, and I will do one of 2 things, never try a jumping puzzle again, never attempt to solo or duo dungeons, never attempt arah/TA aetherblade. Most likely I’d just quit the game.

The fact that people arent learning how to play limits how much depth the developers can add. They have to balance for the average player, if the average player is a kamikaze with low skill in any other facet, thats what they have to design for

anet is cerrently not balancing content for the average player. LS2 will have achieves geared towards “skilled” players.
Also, most people don’t play to die.

Every reward is balanced based on how much of it can come into the game and how much it can take out of the game. By being more difficult, they can put better rewards, by increasing the opportunity cost of dying, more leaves the game. The only way they can have anything besides time sink being the main method of achieving good things, is by having skill be a larger factor.
One of the reasons rewards suck in this game is because they have to balance every rewards with almost no losses.

and here’s the crux of it. " I want more rewards than those peasant players. I not only wnat more rewards but want them to be punished, so that I can have even more than those peasant crappy players.

Rewards do not suck in this game, The RNG can be a little low, but I get plenty of exotics and always feel like “woo and exo, yay ^^” when I get one. I’ve gotten 2 ascended boxes in the last 5 months.
What kind of rewards do you want? an increased chance at something because you’re a super duper player who never dies? aww, well, tough. Alot of this content is group based, death penalties will put a larger dependence on self-survival, rather than working together.

I dont really like death penalties, but the deeper content seems to be suffering for its absence.

and how does it suffer?

It’s been said that a greater death penalty will make people think before they act. I seriously doubt that that will work with most folks. More likely they will simply become more risk adverse and be inclined to sit back and let others fail, or just rage quit to avoid dying.

Playing games with heavy death penalties, it does in fact make people play like they are scared, (not everybody), and it does make people rage (not everybody) but they actually tend to play at a better level, because they have to in order to succeed, The glass cannons actually play like they are glass, the people supporting work harder to keep everyone going.

People adapt to the norm, but sometimes they are highly engaged while being at the norm, and sometimes they are pretty bored. Based on what people seem to be saying here in the forums, and what i have seen in game, its less about the path, and more about getting whatever item easier/faster. And the same people often will say they find it boring, so make it shorter and easier.
That wont make it less boring, it will just give you more progress while being bored. The designers have to find ways to keep people engaged while minimizing boredom. There are ways other than battle design, but they would require world/story/etc to be good so the battle doesnt matter for entertainment.

death penalties don’t make something more interesting. What they do, is kitten people off, induce rage(which is very negative on a community). They are VERY annoying, and if you want to play a game that’s going to punish you for every mistake, well there are games out there for that. I’d rather play to relax, tyvm

Firstly minimum wage is different in every country (IF there is a minimum wage).
Many people here are students.
Many others have families/bills/mortgage.

Not everyone can afford to buy gems to convert to gold. Not everyone sees it as a justified expenditure either.
(for example, I have no problem buying a skin on gemstore or a gathering tool, but I HATE the idea of converting gems to gold. )

Anet needs to come up with another way for these percursors. Yeah they shouldn’t be completely easy, but you shouldn’t have to pay or play an unknown number of hours.

An End to the Queensdale Train

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

The main reason people champ train in Weeniedale is not because it’s a starting area, not because it drops t6 resources, not because it drops 5s a champ bag, but because it’s fast. 4 champs in 10 minutes. It’s hard to beat that sort of speed and still be efficient.

SE Path 1, 5 champs in about 5 minutes. Over twice as effective as any train there is.

Not everyone wants to go through the hassle of finding a dungeon group.

The train is fine. Leave it alone.

There is absolutely no hassle at all in finding a dungeon group. Check and see if there are any groups doing the path you want. If there is, join. If not, start one. Simple.

SE p1, has been one of the longer lfg’s in my experience.
Most lfgs for that path are about having “x AP’s”, being a war/guard. Mesmers get in too. If you’re not one of these you could be (and I have been) waiting awhile for a group.
Granted I often play in the morning, so there’s less people at that time, but out of all the dungeons(even fracs) that I regularly pug for, SE is one of the longer ones to get a group set up for.

I now, no longer start an lfg for it, only join in when my friend (a guard) tags along, no one wants to join a necro(ele/ranger or engie) on se. And if you end up with a pug of light/med armour, I can guarantee it will take you much longer than 10min to complete. (and it’s likely your group will fall apart as they do not know how to play without stacking at golems. )

anyway, the queens train doesn’t really disrupt gameplay.
I’ve noticed very little of train anger, though more now with megaserver.(makes me think, my server was calmer about the whole train.)

If a champ got killed out of sequence, they ignored it and kept going. Sometimes they’d ask “second train on map? please wait for 1st train” etc. Though boar will often join any groups.

I’ve also noticed (before megaserver mostly, as you now get similar responses in other maps.)
There’s more help in queens.

I stupidly done a jp there with my ele at low level and died at the grubs. Not wanting to wp and give up the chest I asked if anyone on map would help. 3 people, came to the rescue.
I’ve had similar experience in queens with events and what not. With megaserver this is now occurring in other maps, but it used to just be queens. They are in general quick to help new players.

I don’t understand people being bothered by something they do not have to play.

Basically: its hard to armor a crotch without being uncomfortable.
So they wear lightly or unarmored pants and wear this “skirt” to protect the crotch.

There are gremlins that build flying pyramids, but making a chainmail crotch is too tall of an order.

lmao.

I love when people come with “but in reality”.

Tyria is a mixed world of magic, medieval times and amazing scientific discoveries.

And IF the realism was the factor… why is there even light or medium armour?

Greater penalties for Death

To me it makes the game as hard as it should be because of the risk. You’re just calling it “frustrating”, when I call the very same thing “harder” or “more difficult”, because you don’t agree with the topic at hand.

You do not speak for everyone.

You can easily make this game harder for yourself, please go do that.

No kitten, Sherlock. That’s why I said “to me”.

As for just making this game harder for myself. I’m afraid it is harder because I’m surrounded by a large number of people that don’t care to actually play like they give a kitten .

Next time you want to call me out for making it sound like I speak for everyone, you may want to make sure I’m doing just that.

Well the changes YOU want is something that would affect everyone.

Your point here is?

The vast majority of suggestion threads for any change in the game are over things that would, if taken in by ArenaNet, end up affecting everyone.

You keep using the word PUG like I’m only talking about Dungeon content or something. This is an MMO with open world content, you don’t get to pick who you play with all the time. Especially now with megaservers.

Congratulations on having your say. But guess what?
I’m here to say that not enough people are playing to live.

How does people playing in openworld maps bother you? seriously, just because they die lots doesn’t affect you at all.
Even with the ‘hardcore’ bosses, join a guild for it and now the scrubs won’t bother you.

My point is, you can already give yourself death penalties, that’s not what you want, you want to push your playstyle on everyone else.

People are not trained to succeed in this game. The living bonus/death penalty is way too light. Only the stigma of death remains, but that will vary from player to player, the game mechanics itself dont really encourage it

Why does it bother YOU, how people play? and what people want out of a game?

I guess I was one of those “AP zombies” – trying to get all those “free” points. Didn’t even have time/energy to play the game after I was done with that kitten . Now i am relieved. Thank you for this change.

so you’re relieved to take choice from other players because you couldnt say “hey, why am I doing this, this isnt how I want to play”.

Thats nice.

really?

your whole post is to push a level increase and a gear threadmill??? really???

If I wanted a gear threadmill, I would play one of the many numerous games that has it >.>

btw,I love the cheaper prices! I took a break from this game and every thing was getting crazy high..now they’re a bit more manageable to afford.

Also. how many players do you play WITH, that don’t want to do well? Pugs are rarely that difficult to play with, maybe a little slower for most dungeons. Of course you don’t have to pug if you believe most people don’t care.

I’m here to say MOST people don’t play to die, they do the best they can, just because it’s not your best, doesn’t mean they aren’t trying or don’t care.

No please, we don’t need another WoW clone.

If leveling is the only thing keeping you playing…then..I have to argue that you don’t really enjoy the game itself.
