Out of curiosity, what major MMOs have “remastered” without releasing a new sequel of the game? I’m not sure how I would even research the question, so I’m relying on other posters anecdotes.

My guess is that this is something that no game company has ever done.

Funcom is actually revamping The Secret World (adding “Legends” to the name).
Same game, same content, updated graphics, updated gameplay.
But everyone has to begin again, no character transfer

I think they should add a 4th tier fo every race, and lower the price, switch to karma, maybe (retroactively) add cultural tokens for completed hearts in culturally tied zones, since they love those.

I may sound a bit sarcastic, but really, this could be a solution that still caters to the elite side of these sets, and give another incentive to explore/complete maps, especially with alts (out of 10 chars, i have only 3 with 100% map completion).

I don’t come from a PnP RPG background, though I played some Stormbringer and Metabarons (and even FFRPG) 10 years ago, but I too like to play MMOs and games generally for their story, and how I can include my character in it, more than the games offer at first sight. And I’m generally not interested in PvP or grind-induced content.
So I add my voice to the choir here, because this isn’t the GW2 I loved anymore.

By the way, thanks Blood Red Arachnid.2493 for bringing back such good memories, PSO was so great! Another thing it did quite well is social interaction. with shortcuts to personalizable speech bubbles and a nice load of emotes, it was really complete, and would easily help add some personality to our avatars

Just to finish, a suggestion for Vayne.8563 : a game series I’d recommend you to try, if you don’t already know them, is Dark Souls, and their cousins Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne, if you own a PS3 or PS4. Because these are games that tell quite a story, though not by usual means (you get it from the world design, the item descriptions, and even the few npcs, but they all leave many things to your own interpretation).
They are mostly solo action rpgs, but with multiplayer functionnalities. Oh, and they offer a nice challenge based on your skills and observation capabilities. ^^

I love it! Yes it could be a bit smaller, yes I’d love to be able to dye it too, but the first thing I’d love to change about it would be the ability to not hide the backpack. This would be a nice way to address the spinal-blades-not-a-glider-yet issue. AND it would work perfectly with other backpack skins! (Slickpack, Lightning catcher, Light of Dwayna, etc.)

Just play another game, move on! That’s what i did (dark souls 2, destiny, bloodborne, my preciousssss).
Honestly, this game is just a mega collection of wasted potential, laike many other games these past years. It has its charms, just to imagine what could have been, while mindlessly playing the game, then one day, you log in, and poof, you’re bored.

All of you saying no thanks are just being silly. Every game that adds support for the latest DX version still supports its original version. So unless anet is a bunch of morons(which I don’t believe is the case) I’m pretty sure everyone still using win 7 and 8 will still be able to play. Adding DX 12 support will help with CPU lag just like the 64bit client helped with the RAM crashes. Not sure why anyone would be against this as DX 12 support is a great feature

Not only that but it allows devs more creative leeway and flexibility. In DirectX11 or 12 a witch hat could have a perfectly round rim instead of an octagonal one for example. Some people say the game’s graphics are good, but I disagree for the reason given before (in addition to clipping issues). The graphics are good enough but not exactly Crysis 3, so with a higher DirectX version they can improve graphics while making it less of a strain on people’s systems. Combined with Pascal’s dramatic performance boost over Maxwell (to say nothing of Fermi, which many players still have) there’s so much room for radical increases. If a GTX 670 has playable framerates at 4k imagine what a GTX 1080 or even 1070 would have, not just with enhanced processing power but HBM2.

The devs should assume players have a GTX 960 on average and work from there.

That would be great. Even when you’re interested, you don’t need to have them permanently displayed (and I don’t play GW2 from my bathroom, so no need of extra reading).
Maybe adding a notifications system would help.
Display them on connect, for a few seconds, then they go in a dedicated notification panel, or maybe the ig mailing window, like the messages you get after completing renown hearts

Might enjoy being virtually kitten d by pretty much everything in bloodborne’s dlc.

I memorized all of Lordran and Drangleic (Dark Souls I & II) with no map, and I loved doing that. So I’m with you on this one. Less minimap use, less waypoints, more “Real” exploration.
And we could even have some more use for the maps, like annotations (not necessarily shared, like personnal points and such). Also, this would be another good reason to enjoy the amazing painted map design ^^

Get a guild hall, you’ll be really happy with all your T5 mats, trust me.
Though, i agree with you, and they could implement a bit more variety in mats rarity from salvaged lvl80 items.

A few ideas on how to make the inventory window better :
– menu items replaced by a bunch of icons, helping compact or sending mats to stock easier (when we need to make free room between 2 chained events, for example)
– display inventory as a list, or even multiple lists, one for each bag
– something like a shared bag space between characters, that could allow every character on an account to access keys and map specific items, or consumables like boosters, etc. Would an option like this pop up on the gemshop, i’d buy it instantaneously…

Same problems, error message when trying to WP from lion’s arch, and that’s when I can log with a character at all.

That’d be great to be able to have new content for GW1 (never had the opportunity to really try the changes to elementalists’ overcast), but i think it would be even better, and that would be a way for ArenaNet to have an interest in it, to add Beyond content as bonus Historical missions in GW2.

Imagine that : a campfire near the Durmand Priory, with scholars gathered with you, to tell you stories of yore. You choose the scholar to choose what story, aaaaand zap, you’re living it from the inside! ^^

They have already done something like that with books in the 1st GW, before Beyond. So why not include something like this now?

Between this fiasco and the BWEs that were not really exciting, and probably too bugged to be called beta (broken chain events galore!), I’m seriously worried about the expansion.

You still can use the title Faithful, when you hit your 3y. That’s what I do, I’m like you, no other thing to show my dedication, but you know, precursors/legendaries have never been a real proof of that. Titles are the best proof I think, the anniversary ones, or the Hall of Monuments ones, if you played GW1 back in the day.

I’d like to add something about the existing telegraphs, like AoE orange rings.
There are many cases where these zones aren’t visible until it’s too late (tequatl’s poison zones, or Mark II’s stomps for example). Be it lag, the amount of people doing the event that the game has to load prior to these effects, the beginning of many battles like that are always chaotic.

Or, if you have a smartphone, go look for “gw2 timer” on your app store.
If you really need to have it on your computer, you can use something like andyroid, which is a virtual android system.

Did you modify the horizontal placement of your camera? I don’t know if this has any effect on the sound, but maybe?

Thinking about scavenger hunt for precursors (as kind of announced wayys back) let me thinking of something like the exotic weapon bounties from Destiny, giving you special tasks, touching almost every type of content the game offers, then rewarding you with a degraded weapon, and the way to get it to full power.

But getting a precursor as a reward for map completion seems way too easy. ^^

No, getting to lvl 80 grants you enough hero points to buy every skill and specialization trait actually available for your character. The hero points on the map are bonus points (that will be of use with HoT and elite specializations) and you have to do them if you want to get 100% map.

Did it yesterday, no crit spot strategy, the usual ranged/dodge, and AoE on its feet. Finished with 1min or so left. No problem. ^^

You can always create a thief with the anonymity hood, and transmute it to a white quality (and low lvl) head armor, this will make the hood account bound.
