LV10 Black Lion key - 5 days cooldown?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wolfeng.3784

Wolfeng.3784

So wait, if the reset is always Monday, does that mean I can get a key on Sunday and another on Tuesday?

Well, even if it’s not the case, this helps a lot. So I can better plan for Tuesdays now.

I was under the impression the cooldown was per account, but knowing this I can better prepare for tuesdays to run those low level characters.

LV10 Black Lion key - 5 days cooldown?

Wolfeng.3784

Can this be a thing?

It’s probably the third time that I’m going to level a character and miss out on the key because I ran the story a day earlier from the cooldown.

5 days would give more room for error so we don’t have to mark what time/day its finally free for another key.

On the same topic, is there any indicator signaling the cooldown is over and that I’ll get a key from the story instance? I couldn’t find anything.

The new maps and lull at every new episode is one big reason why people would buy them. The story for me is very important and I beleave that most players who enjoys the story actually plays it when it goes live so it makes it free for them. Those who just skip story and rush through everything in a fem minutes are the ones who are so bored with the game and plays it in small bursts and misses the window to get the episodes for free.

If I where a new player I would play the game in story order and once I am at the episodes I have to pay for I would probably have gold enough to buy or have already bought the episodes. The expansion is HoT and not the seasons.

But the Seasons are only playable if you have the respective expansion, they are a part of it. And will end up being a selling point for them in the future.

The fact that the current players get the stories for free is fantastic and rewards those that stick with the game.

But why are late buyers being punished and locked out of maps for expansions they bought?

Lets say for example, if I buy HoT right now, I’m locked out of 4(not sure) maps because they are tied to the story. Why is that OK?

I’m not only being locked out of maps, I’m being locked out on gear, crafting materials that may be used for some new stats. I’m being locked out of gameplay elements that I paid for.

We are already splitting the community between those who expansions and those who don’t, and that is necessary side effect.

But why must Anet limit the community even further from those that weren’t playing that specific weekend?

I don’t see any reason or argument justifying limiting paying customers on what kind of gameplay content they can experience simply because they weren’t around at the right time.

Again, I don’t have a problem with Anet charging for the story that you missed. But gameplay elements should not be locked behind that paywall.

No structure in this game kinda turns me off

I will agree that the game does tend to depend a lot on the wiki.

Crafting in particular is just horrendous, and the absurdity of making more money out of lv50 character rather than your max levels shows how crazy (maybe broken) the economy is.

So when the criticism is that the game depends too much on the wiki, I agree with you wholeheartedly.

But, the freedom to do whatever you want from level 1 to 80 and beyond is precisely what sets this game aparts from other MMOs. If you just want to be told what to do all the time, then I’m afraid this maybe isn’t the game for you.

And even then, there’s an arrow now pointing you towards exactly what to do.

That’s insane o.o

If I wasn’t for her guides and video previews of Gem Store I wouldn’t have spend nearly as much on GW2 given how bad their preview system is.

Sadly though I can’t buy through her link since I don’t have a credit card I need to buy from a reseller in my country.

You can buy Living Seasons with in-game currency.

I doubt they would give it to you for free in the short-term, because doing so would

  • reduce population during off-season as there is now less reason to keep the game installed in-between expansions
  • destroy future Living Season marketability, as people who missed out during login period would just wait for expansions to get them bundled

I never talked about making anything free. In fact, I didn’t talk about making any changes to the pricing of any product whatsoever.

My point was that maps and any new future gameplay element introduced during a living world season should be included with the expansion it belongs to.

I’m talking about gameplay elements here, Anet will still sell the story.

The model stays the same but doesn’t lock players out of new maps just because they didn’t buy the expansion at the right time. This could potentially mean more players in those maps, and maybe, who knows, an event there might just spark their interest in actually buying the living world story to see what everything was all about.

Wolfeng.3784

With the announcement of the expansion and the new price on PoF and HoT, there needs to be a discussion about LIving World Seasons.

First, I love the fact that the new expansion is costing 30$ now, and that HoT can be purchased as an extra for 20$. I think that’s an excellent model.

The problem however comes when we are reminded that this does not include the living world seasons. Now, before anyone grabs their pitchfork, I’m not saying that those should be included in the 20$ purchase, let me continue.

  • First problem, during check out we can add Heart of Thorns but it’s never said that this doesn’t include Season 2 and 3.
  • Second problem, Season 2 is packed in a corner together with the likes of extra character slots or minis. But Season 3 is nowhere to be found. There’s not even a mention that those can be later bought from the gem store in game.
  • Third problem and this is my biggest gripe with Season 3.

Not everyone plays the game for the story, and season 3 started locking maps behind them.

I think it’s brilliant that someone that doesn’t care about the story can buy the game for a low price. It comes down to a choice of “Do I just want the gameplay, or do I want the story as well?”

But it becomes a problem when gameplay elements (new maps) are locked behind this second paywall.

You pay for HoT, Season 2 and 3 new maps are part of HoT, they are downloaded for your computer, but you can’t access them because you didn’t pay for that story.

No, actually you can access them if you happen to have Teleport to friend, so it’s not like it’s impossible, but it becomes an artificial limitation.

Again, I repeat, I think it’s completely acceptable to charge for those story elements, but please don’t lock gameplay elements behind a second paywall.

To summarize:

  • Check out process should make it clear that you are not getting the full story content.
  • Check out process should offer missing seasons or notify that they can be purchased through gems.
  • Please, don’t lock maps behind story paywalls for those that come later. They already paid for their game and expansion, so don’t force them through a second paywall to maps that belong to the same expansion.

Retreat shout name change?

in Guardian

Posted by: Wolfeng.3784

Wolfeng.3784

Isn’t it about time someone look at Retreat shout (from guardian) and change it’s name.

This is a game about active combat, we don’t run away from an enemy, rather we charge in and go for the kill. Every single time a guardian uses shout is to CHARGE at an enemy and make sure everyone stays alive with the block.

So why exactly are we telling everyone to run away?

Movement speed change?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wolfeng.3784

Wolfeng.3784

Is there any hope for a change in movement speed? The game feels slow with the default one, and races like Charr and Norn only feel natural when running with the 25% speed boost.

Not only that but but this boost is not available the same way for all classes. Some have to use signets, while others can go for a trait, but during fights what’s really going to make a difference in speed is rather or not you have swiftness on.

So, if we already have swiftness making a difference in combat, why make the exploration aspect of the game this slow paced?

Is there any hope? Can a dev consider this? Please?

For so little content?

- 4 maps that are just pretending to be huge. You will find yourself punished with less “participation” just because you decided to explore the map rather than do the linear events. And because your participation was so low, you get just the basic of basic of rewards.
Oh and remember to repeat that for every single map until you get the rewards from the vendors.

- Elite specs that force certain classes in specific roles. Good luck playing that power ranger as a druid… HAH. There goes the " We don’t like trinity system" talk.

- Have I mentioned that there’s only a few armor and weapons sets that are new? Really little stuff compared to the original game at launch. And if you consider the amount of Black Lion weapons that could’ve been a part of the expansion, its really disappointing – Pact weapons, Mordrem Weapons, Improvised weapons, to name a few.

- tl,dr: Do not buy HoT now, wait for a sale, it offers to little and what it offers is disappointing. I would feel better had I paid $20, instead of $50.

I approve discussing this in the general forum, Anet has made clear that it doesn’t care about bug threads and any sort of fix, change, only comes when it has made enough noise to be noticed.

What would you change in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wolfeng.3784

Wolfeng.3784

My idea of a dream MMO, or rather, to transform GW2 in this dream MMO, would be to mix and match with elements that made other games so fantastic (for me)

Ragnarok with their class evolution system.
Tera with their BAMs
Ultima and Tibia with their housing system.
etc.

So let’s start with the basic:

The initial experience

Making your first character in GW2 and many other mmos is probably the most boring experience you can have in a game.

What can a new character do in their starting zone? Press 1, that’s it, auto attack everything.
If you start a sylvari you have a huge dragon to fight, but all you can do is press 1, where is the fun in that?

My idea is that instead of being able to choose your class at the start of the game, you start as this basic adventurer, you are free to pick whatever weapon you want to use, and all of them will have the 5 weapon skills.

To make things even more interesting, make it so that each race has their own approach on how to handle a weapon, similar to how racial skills were supposed to be a differential to each of them. This way when you start the game you have a set of weapons skills and Racial skills all tailored to your character and race.

Variety from the start.

Leveling and Story

First and most important, the story needs to be approached from a group perspective. Although I really like the story in GW2, I always hated the fact that I’m this single hero off to save the world, and it just so happens there are 1000 others just like me.

I would love if every story element of the game was designed around the idea of this 5 man party.

Back to the leveling process, make the story take you through the hoops of choosing a class, maybe tie them into each one of the orders?

Since the Priory prides themselves on being scholars and even the npcs acknowledge the fact that they are not fighters, it never made sense to have a warrior joining their ranks.
And speaking of orders, please, get rid of that stupid “None of the orders can agree on how to approach a fight with the elder dragons”, it’s like we are dealing with kids that can’t see the big picture, it’s just stupid.
If the story takes you to the process of chosing a class, then have the party split and each follow their own little story line based on the class they chose.

Again, this adds variety to the experience of each player. And they can later share that experience with one another.

Improving your class

For me personally, Hero Points are a complete mess because of the fact that they are tied into both specializations AND skill unlocks. If you don’t pay attention you will reach lv35 with all of your skills and no traits.

That needs to go.

Leveling up should grant you points for leveling the specializations, maybe a system similar to masteries where you chose to focus one until that finishes and you move to the next?

So when you reach lv35 and is summoned to your first dungeon you already have that trait line + your skills.

I honestly don’t know what I would do with the Hero Points of today, first there needs to be a difference between places of power and Fight challenges. But what would they reward? I’m not sure.

Dungeons – Fractals – Raids

Considering all of them have some sort of story, tie them with the actual story, consider them an introduction to Fractals and Raids, increasing the level of difficulty and challenge with each one.

In order to avoid the whole “80’s only” for them though, the scaling system needs to be improved.

If the best gear for lv35 is masterwork, make the gear a lv80 is using equalize to masterwork.
If a lv35 only has access to the first specialization, the same should be true to the lv80.

Dungeons need to be fixed and redone from the ground up. Honestly, the story is the same childish approach like the 3 orders “We have these 3 horrible things happening, but for some reason we can only deal with one”.

Either allow us to choose to deal with everything at once (with even bigger reward) or something else, don’t know.

Gear – Stats

This is my biggest gripe with the game right now.

Some stats are extremely easy to get (berserker) and others are just a time gated pain (celestial).
For a game that promised the freedom to play how you want, this is the biggest turn off.

I would prefer a system where when finding a new gear I can pick the stats I want for it, after I pick the stats the armor is either bound to the character or account and given a name based on the stats chosen.

For the runes and sigils, I would rather have them changing my gameplay rather than just increasing my stats. I want more things like air and fire to add effects to my weapons, or vampire runes to make a character cenetered around life steal.

Runes and sigils need to add a new dynamic to your character rather than increse in stat.

This would solve my second biggest gripe with the game.

Crafting

This system is a nightmare, it desperately needs a completely revamp. Making every gear a blank state where we can chose the stats ourselves would be the first step in cleaning up.

I understand some people love to use crafting to level alts, but for me personally, I would preffer if this was tied directly into your account.
No more losing recipes because you deleted a character.

In the case of scribing, their new crafting profession, it needs to be tied directly into the guild, this can’t be tied to a person that can leave a guild at any time.

World Bosses – Champions

World bosses are a completely disappointment for me, the fist time I saw Shadow Behemoth was amazing, but then the fight ended up being a simple “Press 1 to win”, and this seems to be the biggest joke in the game, with world bosses and even the fight against Zaithan.

First and foremost, every starter zone needs to have their own World Boss (there is none in Plains of Ashford).

Second the encounter needs to be far more enganging than just pressing 1 button while standing still.

In the case of Shadow Behemoth, this is a creature that is trying to break free into our world. So maybe make the event centered around the players protecting a group of scholars perfoming a ritual to send the creature back to its world?

In the case of Tequatl, instead of stabbing his foot until he’s dead, focus more on the turrets, on the champions he spawns, make him fly more, why would a dragon even stay so long on the ground? Make the fight more centered around keeping the turrets, cannons in one piece, rather than stab his foot.

Most important, we need more NPC’s explaining the encounter, more events leading to it where we learn what to expect from it, or even why that is happening.

In the case of Tequatl, we could have NPCs screaming to the players that they need people covering area X and Y, and that those turrets are still empty, etc.

NPC’s – Allies and Enemies

This is the thing I love the most about this game, NPC interactions, the two kids near the bank in LA, or the two kids near the Hylek camp in Caledon Forest, I absolutely adore how NPC’s feel alive.

But it can be better, to start, they move slower than the player, and that is infuriating when doing an event where we have to escort them.

Second, they are weak, so weak, if an npc is a trained soldier with years of training on his back, he should’nt go down in a single strike after trying to use only a single attack.

For the enemies, the only difference a champion and a regular enemy have seems to be the total HP, that’s lame.

We have Regular, Veterans, Elites and Champions enemies. Instead of just increasing their HP, make it so that each increase in rank gives them new abilities. FAR more abilities.

One of the things that GW2 lacks the most is that combat are not engaging, either the enemy hits too hard and you will die in one hit, or they don’t hit at all and you can just dps like crazy.

Enemies need more attacks, more diversity.

And when doing so, we need a new effect for the enemy AOE spells. The single Red Line is near impossible to see in some cases like when dealing with the Harpies in Fractals above scale 10.

Maps and events

Meta Events maps like the ones presented in HoT need to go, honestly, having to separate 2h of my life to do a map is not my idea of fun;

Specially when the map punishes you for exploring instead of advancing the meta. This needs to stop.

GW2 was a fun game because you had the freedom to explore the land and find an NPC doing something on his own and then discovering that was leading to an event.
It’s fun going to a map I already got 100% on and discovering that there are still events I’ve never seen it happen.

We need more of that, far more variety on the events in a map, and to make sure they work (because after 3 years there are still events broken)

Exploring should be the major selling point of any map, and exploring should be rewarding at points.

One of the things I hate is finding a tresaure chest guarded by a champion and getting nothing but junk.

I want more treasures, more Jumping Puzzles, more exploration. I want to explore a cave and find the journal of a previous adventurer, with just a tiny little bit of lore about that place, about that body, there doesnt need to be any reward for stuff like that, but it still feels awesome to come across.

Jumping Puzzles and movement skills

Jumping Puzzles right now are a major letdown for me, with the current system what you see the most are Mesmer completing them and offering a portal to others.
This way anyone can have their achievement, without actually doing anything.

Every class needs to have a movement skill of their own, and that skill needs to be allowed to be used in all aspects of the game. No more of that silly “No valid path” because there was a tiny piece of rock in front of you.

If the current Jumping Puzzles would be too easy to complete with a single teleport, make them more challenging, where you are presented with a choice to either wait every time for the cooldown, or simple do it the “legit” way.

One concern raised by this is that WvW would be too easy for people to infiltrate forts. In that case forts should be designed with defenses for that.

Consider for a moment the story in Season 2, Kasmeer a mesmer can open portals in any place she wants, but because of the Asura technology in DryTop her magic was not working.

Not only that, her magic has a range limit, just like players, so even if someone can infiltrate the first gate, maybe they will find themselves surrounded by traps and elite mobs? There is a world of possibilities on how to approach that.

WvW and PvP.

Combine the two into a single beast, since both are already happening in the mists. Make PVP an area inside WvW, with duel and arenas, and all the game modes we currently have.

With WvW being combined into pvp, the current pvp system needs to go, allow people to choose the stats for their gear as well as the runes and accessories.

This system should be completely separated from the PVE aspect of the game, with its own ways of generating gold, its own dungeons and raids. Can you imagine a dungeon where two teams are racing to the finish and they are allowed to kill each other in the process?

As for the maps, get rid of those 3 copy and paste maps, that is ridiculous, WVW needs to be a proper world, with a space as big as Tyria for PVE.

Balance

Balance should be defined by WvW/PVP, period. I find it horrible the idea of a skill working one way in PVE and a completely different way on PVP.

But when I say I want the balance focus to be for WvW, is because I expect the AI to behave more like a playe instead of that brainless single attack type we have now.

Trading Post

The current trading post is a completely nightmare to use, I’ve never seen a system so slow, the whole things needs to be redone. It needs to be faster, have a better search functionality, default to my max level when searching for weapon and armors, and a bunch of other stuff I can’t think right now.

Map rewards / Level up Rewards / Non stop clicking

If I use tomes to level a character to 80, I’ll have to spend the next 10 or so minutes clicking over and over again until I get all those useless level up rewards.

Every time I complete a heart, I have to click on the little heart and then OK.
Every time I complete a meta event, I have to open the chest on top of the map.
Every time I complete a reward track, again click that chest.

For all of those, I would then gain new containers with more containers to more clicking.
After you finally open all those, you would salvage all those useless gear into materials, deposit all of them, and then consume all your luck.

There’s WAY TO MUCH clicking, too much time is spent with useless stuff rather than enjoying the game.

I can’t think of how to improve all those system, but anything would be better than the current.

Npcs that salvage everything for you? Luck is removed from the game and magic find as well? Those are some possibilities.

Bundles

Make them more useful in different situations of the game, and a good option for combat, or getting out of combat, this way people have the freedom to not depend on other players when they want to do something. Stealth kits for example should last a bit more.

So many other things

I loved so many of the suggestions on the thread that I wish I could just add all of them in this document, but I just don’t have the organizational skills to do that.

This seems to be another instance of people not having the right mentality for the material. Rather than just playing the game and gaining Masteries in a fluid and gradual manner, they grind them out to complete them as fast as possible, then get frustrated when there is nothing left to do.

If you were capable of reading you wouldn’t spill such stupidity. I leveled all my central tyria masteries by just playing the game and doing the things I enjoy.

Someone else even talked about how HoT masteries are tied to that content because they are only used there, SO WHAT? Pact Commander is used everywhere, and yet you can only level in central tyria, fractal mastery is only used inside fractal and yet you can level in all central tyria maps.

Saying that HoT masteries are tied to those maps because its only used there is completely bull.

HoT maps are not enjoyable, but I still need to eventually complete those masteries. And that will take months because I’m forced to spend hours upon hours in those maps, doing the same events, OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I’m not quite sure what you are geting at. Gaining exp in the HoT maps is dead easy when you do the event chains. Last Night I did de AB pillars events all the way to saving the city. Sure, took some time (2h) but that was fun.
But the effect on my lvl 3 Exhalted mastery was that I went from 50% complete to about 90% complete. That is about 700k exp., which is sufficient for any 1st tier mastery point.
The rest is for vanity.

Wow, I just said the maps are stressful, are on the clock, how boring it is to always follow the same stupid chain of events.

And you are telling me how easy it is to just waste 2h with an event chain? Just like most people on this thread?

I don’t enjoy my time in the jungle, its stressful, it’s on the clock, I just want to explore the place, but to do that I need to level my masteries first.

BUT I can’t play fractals and level them, because for some illogical reason its impossible to level the Maguuma outside of it.

Now that I completed the central tyria masteries, every single event, dungeon, fractal, became pretty much pointless, the exp has no value whatsover, the gold is gone, and karma, is karma even used for anything new? *

Quality of Life Request - Necromancer F2

For the classes that depend on minions like rangers and mesmers, they have ways of stopping their minions or destroying it, except the Necromancer and its minions.

As a master of death it makes little sense that the class has absolute no control over when their minions live or die, attack or not.

With that said, is it possible for Anet to take the same approach they had with thieves and add a F2 ability to give the necromancer the ability to either destroy or make the minions passive?

Being able to destroy the minions would be a great way for necromancers to generate some life force on its own, it would force them to trade their skills for an earlier Shroud, and in battle if they want the poison field from trait minion master or not.

On the other hand, making them passive would keep the exisiting balance, but allow players to roam maps more freely without having to worry about their minions aggroing and attacking stuff on their own.

I wont even bother reading the whole thread:

The personal story has level requirements.
The new story for the expansion has mastery requirements.

SAME DEAL!

Stop complaining just because you want to rush everything.

The Mordrem Champion in Iron Marches is a pacifist, refusing to attack anyone in his path.

From what I checked, it has been like this for 2 months now and no fix yet? Can we have someone look into that please?

Really? You can get an item that is only worth unlocking once, multiple times on something that you gambled money on?

That sounds like a true waste of money. Guess I won’t be buying keys any time soon.

Low level more powerful than down scaled

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wolfeng.3784

For me it balances, even when downscaled you still have all your traits and skills to play with, while an actual low lv character is still working towards those.

And the difference in power doesn’t matter, dungeons and open world are still a breeze to go through.

Can we please have them made Elites instead of veterans?

One of the things I loved about this game was when I first started playing and got around Oakheart (I can’t even remember the name) in Queensdale.

It was a fun battle that required people’s help. It was that moment that made me say “I love this game”.

But that is no longer true, there is no more challenge in low level zones. There is nothing that screams “Go get some help!”

I understand the decision to get rid of their champion status and force the farmers out of the map, but can you please consider making them challenging again? Pretty please?

They died. We cried, we moved on.

It would be nice though to see they adding some kind of memorial for them in our home instance or our world, through a cutscene, something to make that more meaningful(?).

I loved all of them. =z

Assuming maps like Silverwastes are the future of GW2. I have a few requests.

1

Redesign the right side of the screen, it’s too poluted with information that most of the times is irrelevant to us at times, if I remember right, this is what we have currently.

- Notification about new Lions Arch even after we already explored. Or the ones presented when a tournament from pvp is going on.
- Map completion
- Dailies
- Events
- Rewards
- Loot
- Bonus chests.
- Map

I enjoy having having my mini map to be as big as it can get, but then when I’m on SW The loot and bonus chests stay on top of the rewards screen.

For me personally, the only thing I consider relevant to have as information all the time is: Map, loot, bonus chests and event info.

2

Collect all rewards from the bonus chests at once. GW2 already has too many things to click, having to go through those bonus chests in SW one by one just takes away time I could instead spent playing the game.

Maybe I’m just being lazy, but I would love to see something where you collect all those rewards at once. Perhaps a bigger window that lists all the events done, their rewards, and a single button to collect it all? I don’t know.

3

Allow us to turn off certain elements of the UI. Some people like to roleplay , some people like to explore without a guide, being able to disable the minimap and the event notifications would make for a whole new experience.

Using the same idea from before, where we have a bigger window listing events and their rewards, maybe that same window could be used to display the event in your area. Or that information could be presented on the world map.

4

Not related to the new maps, but it would be awesome if we could have an ingame tool, perhaps added to the LFG itself, showing what dungeon paths or fractal scale we already done for the day.

Finally…

Look, I’m no designer, but GW2 has been by far the best MMO I’ve played both in terms of UI design and gameplay.

But SW completely takes control of the right side of the screen, and that changes the UI from simple and clean to a mess.

Base game is 10$ (being offered as a free bonus for prepurchase)
Character slot is 10$ (being offered as a free bonus for prepurchase)

I don’t see how they got it wrong.

If it is being removed in favor of a elite spec, that spec is better be kitten awesome.
I would love for a sword offhand more, but, whatever.

If it isn’t, then I’m hoping they just forgot to make it baseline. It makes no sense that just a few months they changed ricochet to make it more usefull and now get rid of it.

mcgriddles.2416 the guy hasnt even insulted you and you took offense for no reason. Attacking him for no reason as well.

If even he did it implied to attack you, there was no need to go attack him as well.

Anyway, I love these little details, too bad I don’t know who the npc was before, it would’ve been more impactful them. None the less, great find.

Overall I’m extremely happy with the new Lions Arch.

But, dungeon merchants are gone, instead we get a single guy at an empty corner. Is this a sign that dungeons are really being left aside for everything else??

No.

They have perfectly listened to the community, the problem was people were paying for something and not getting something for free, while another group got.
That was the value/money discussion.

You failed to see the real scope of the issues raised by the community.

Really glad to see how Anet is handling this situation, automatic refunds for those that bought the game since january. Looks like great news, hopefully.

I still wish there would be more communication between the company and the players, the silence can be worse than answers at times.

Since there has been no official comunication from Anet about this mess, short of a few forum posts that are now buried under complaints , I guess my money is better spent somewhere else.

Anet obviously doesn’t value their existing players as much as new ones, so good luck to all the new players.

WIth that said, I need an event to get rid of my stuff, mind you, I don’t have a lot.

I’m wondering, give my stuff to a friend?
To those new players that already got an awesome deal?
To a random person in a random map?

Any other possibilites?
I will just roll a die to decide, I think. Maybe, I guess.

Oh, right, none of you get anything anyway. This is mostly a useless post born out of boredom.

There’s another angle to look at the ANet offer. Veterans get more from HOT because they are given a choice – get a new account with HOT or continue on their existent account with HOT. New players does not have that choice. So veterans actually get the better end of that deal.

What ?

If I have to throw away everything I’ve worked for so far in GW2 at each expansion, I really can’t see how it is beneficial to me.

No, you do not have to throw anything. It is just a preorder, you do not have to buy it now. You do not even have to buy it when HoT is released. You will continue to get patches and QoL changes, just not story updates. Also as i said, veterans receive the ability to choose., nothing about whether the options are good or bad.

Teach me to see life like you do.
Being so blindly to the stuff around you must be a wonderful thing.
