We wouldn’t actually need any new items at all… just an option to right click the tomes and say “consume X tomes”… When using this option, only relevant levelling loot should be available and it should be added automatically to your inventory so you don’t have to spam the stupid “you made a level” token in the corner…
About the Scrolls of knowledge: Isn’t this item completely irrelevant to the game? I mean, sure, I might have used one or two of them, but rly… I’ll never need another and I have a lot of em just gathering dust… it’d be nice if we could just sell them of half the amount of tomes of knowledge or something?…

The mega server issue is going to be a problem regardless of where you write it. people are going to continue to ask that question. They ask, because it’s easier than searching for the answer. I do however think that the notice should be available and visible on server selection.
The game mechanics shouldn’t be part of the personal story. But it would be nice with a repeatable “Mechanics Training” in the story journal. This story should depend on your class, and it should take you through all weapon and skill mechanics, as well as combo’s, dodging, etc etc etc as separate chapters…

I love the story and have been through it so many times – 12 times on the toons I keep track of + a lot of times on the toons I do not + The at least 6 time’s I’ve run through the whole thing making most of the achievements.
On the first, second and third time’s I ran through the story, listening to the dialogue was Interesting, amusing, then fairly okay… But after that, it is annoying and tedious to be forced to sit and listen to the dialogue to be able to get the heck going…
For future living stories, it would be so sweet, if we could skip the dialogue after the first run through. I do not know how this could be accomplished but personally, I would prefer that a “quick mode” were introduced where you start the story. – entering the story in quick mode, could remove all dialogue or reduce it to a bare minimum…
I like knowing the story, but there are other things my brain want to do than listening to the never ending talking…
What are your thoughts on this?

You are under the assumption that players aren’t lazy……
It doesn’t take care of the literal junk items and other rubbish like runes and sigils.
It isn’t that much time in the grand scheme of things, but it’s the kind of inconvenience that we feel like we shouldn’t have to deal with.
For example, consider the simple forum post. Made a mistake? You can highlight an entire block of text and delete it. Bam. Gone. Now what would it be like if you had to press ‘backspace’ for each individual character?
I fail to see how it is an inconvenience… The amount of time it takes is so short, that the fact that you even notice that you spend time on it, is a mystery to me… I mean really… we’re talking less than 20 seconds of inventory management in regard to runes sigils and salvaging…
Sure, it would be nice if it was sold with the sell junk button, but we do not need and AI to do such things for us.

I don’t get why players say people don’t do dungeons anymore. There are plenty of players doing dungeons daily. Whenever I start a group I have no trouble filling it, unless its a weekend NA morning.
Sure they are not as popular as they use to be, but players still participate.
Sure, people do dungeons, half asleep with one hand on the keyboard and the other hand behind the head, with one eye closed and snoring…
It’s dead, because the effort people need to put into it to finish it, is that of a buried corpse xD

The CS Team has always indicated that this is not something that is, nor will be, offered. Probably for the same reasons that are an issue with Guild banks, etc. I’m sure that players would not desire to have Material Storage and account bank left out of Account Restoration, as Guild banks are.
I know I would not give up that feature to share accounts.
Good luck.
Edit: Missing words/replacements
Sharing and linking accounts is wildly different… We’re not talking a complete link, but a link of the same model as the guild bank…
If it’s a joined storage then it’s going to have the same problems as a guild bank. Items in the guild bank don’t belong to anyone and a shared storage will also belong to both people.
1) if hacked and the contents stolen, they’re gone for good.
2) in a dispute if one side takes all, the other side has no recourse from support to get it back.
3) if your child or “evil younger brother” or your drunk/inconsiderate spouse takes all the items, you will have no recourse.
4) in the cases where both parties exit the linked storage (malicious hacker, angry ex, etc) the contents are lost for good.Since it’s a linked account, and since Anet does not support activated account’s to switch ownership, there shouldn’t be a way to exit it.
If you’re linking your account to an account that is not your own, (your spouse, child, sibling, friend or kitten) you’d be violating the purpose of the whole thing.
Thus there would be no disputes, because you do not have disputes with yourself. But since my original suggestion didn’t actually give any shared storage space, but only the ability to send materials freely, this wouldn’t be any problem at all…
And just how is ANet going to stop people from linking? Many family accounts were bought with the same credit card or the same person can use different credit cards to buy multiple accounts. Anet would need to actually take the time to verify that each account is owned by one person and used only by one person before they allow the link.
My point is: if people loose people on linking accounts, it’s their own problem that they use the system in a way that is not supported…

Ok, if for nothing other than having the bank, and material storage disallowed from Account Restoration, it would not be something many would desire, I imagine.
Again, I doubt the CS Team would relish all the problems something like this would engender.
Still, good luck.
Being a member of a guild, does not block you from having your account restored. Since this would use the same functions, this wouldn’t either.

The current dungeon difficulty are difficult enough for me personally. I’m glad I finally got my Dungeon masters achievement last month.
Having said that, I don’t really have problems with an additional, optional hard mode. Just don’t expect me to survive it tho.
Personally, I miss a mode where I cannot possibly solo the dungeons xD The raids is all good and fine, if you can pull a 10 man party together… Which is the greatest challenge in this game… getting a 5man party for a dungeon, that’s hard enough…

My idea is to leave the rewards of the dungeons as it is BUT add an extra difficulty like “Veteran” , were the dungeon has extra mechanics(examble high level fractals).
Or you can go an extra mile and change the boss fights. There you give 1 token for every Vet dungeon cleared to use on some ascended equipment.Vet dungeons would be like raids but with 5 people. It is sad to see this content go, and new players not experience zhaitans dungeon paths or Aetherblade path.
Hard but rewarding.
So, you’re saying add more story, alternative paths and more rewards to the dungeons? or just to make the current stuff harder and more rewarding?
(I’d love to see them work a lot more on the dungeons, but I doubt this dream will go anywhere…)
I cannot see the harm in adding ascended gear with the dungeon skins to the pool…
Of course, if they did that, they should add ascended dungeon tokens too…
Where are dungeons going? Have Anet said they’re being removed?
No, they’re just not doing anything with them, thus people pay very little attention to them…
Dungeoneer should be a part of the regular dailies instead and I’d add some optional treats to the 5g chest. A choice of the extra tokens, obsidian shards or a transmutation charge or something of the sort.
I would love to be able to get extra tokens instead of gold…

My ol’ man, I myself and a few other people I know of, have more than one guild wars 2 account. With the mail sending limitations, it is tedious to transfer materials from one account to another. Sure, I have 150 guild bank slots in my own little private guild, but that really doesn’t make it much less tedious, because hey, we can’t double click the materials to move them to the guild bank and we have to run to the guild bank from the crafting bench whenever we need stuff, and we need to do so more than once.
I would like to propose the suggestion, that an option be made for a linked material storage.
This should have two functions:
Right click material function
Give an option when right clicking on a material in the material storage, to move it to a linked accounts material storage, if there is room therein, if there is not, the remaining material should stay where it is. Just as when you move materials from your inventory to your material storage.
Deposit All Materials to [Account name]
This should do the exact same thing as Deposit All Materials, except it should move it to the other account.
An alternative could be that one account could see the other accounts banks and material storage, but I personally think that’d be overkill.
What do you think?

We don’t know anything about the next expansion except that there is one. Anything else is pure speculation or “leaks” which may be fake, altered or old ideas that won’t make it into the final release.
Since the leaks have been confirmed by Anet, that statement is kinda vague…

I’m fairly new to the guild wars series. So I had decided to purchase the HoT set hoping it would help me find a game I enjoy. I’m almost 40 years old now and haven’t really been able to get into a MMO since Ultima online. This was a shot in the dark with this game. I had heard good things but never bothered to check it out myself until now. I am very glad I did. I have a life outside the game and like a lot of us I found it difficult to balance my life/family with some playing time. I always felt I was playing from behind in almost every other game. With this game I can play a few hours a week and feel like I’ve made some progress. This may sound all very trivial in the big scheme of things but for a person like me it means everything. I find the game has a good flow with lots of things to do. You never find yourself looking for something to do and you get a good sense of satisfaction from completing quests and opening new areas of the map that you can finally traverse. It has been a good experience so far. I know developers can get a hard time on occasion so I thought it might be a good idea to let them know that they have done it right, at least from my view.
Thank you for your efforts and making a very long week at work seem a little shorter and bringing back to joy of gaming to me.
I’ve been in game for more than 10k hours… I can still agree to what you just said. Hope you enjoy it for years to come! Oh! And a lil hint: You will wanna start leveling your auto loot mastery asap! xD

The revenant have 15 possible utility skills, every other class have 24 +racial skills.
and yes, that gives the revenant a total of 10 combinations of utility skill sets… while every other class have 72 combination options. The idea that the other classes have less options for utility skills is plain rubish. The elementalist have weapons that can be summoned, each of those are worth 5 more skills. the engineer can switch freely between it’s weapon kits, the warrior have it’s banners etc etc etc. there’s other classes that add additional skills. having 2 sets of utility skills is just not cool enough to weight up for no versatility and 9+ less skills than everyone else.
Again revs have 20 possible utilities 5 legends * 4 utilities each, the OP specified Utility skills, then there is the fact that revs get 8 Utilities, 2 Heals and 2 Elites at all times so for effective skills in combat they have more skills overall especially when looking at Meta builds and usages…….. and on top of that Revs have weapon swaps(which Eles and Engies don’t have) so when most other classes at any given time every other class has 6 less skills
Dude, most other classes have the same amount available as the revenant, some have a few fewer. The two you suggested have a lot more. The ele a minimum of 29 and a maximum of 45 and the engi a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 35. This is hardly relevant though so lets get back on topic shall we?
To be perfectly clear:
Skill 1-5 weapon skills. < these are not relevant to this topic.
Skill 6 healing skill. < this is not relevant to this topic.
Skill 7-9 Utility skills. < these are the only skills relevant to this topic.
Skill 10 Elite skill. < this is not relevant to this topic.
Skill 7 skill 8 and skill 9, that is 3 skills. the revenant have 5 legends, that is 15 skills.
Every other class have 24 skills + racial skills, that can go into these slots.
No, being able to switch your utility skills, does not make up for the lack of options.

What you do is:
1: Create a new short cut.
2: Name it gw2update.
3: Give it the same directory as your normal short cut, but add -image. it should look something like this: “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe”-image
4: Make sure that your current gw2 short cut is named GuildWars2, without space or .exe in it.
5: Create the text file gw2.txt
6: Write in it:
start /W Gw2Update
start GuildWars2
exit
7: Rename it gw2.bat
Provided that you launch the gw2.bat file from the same destination as the other short cuts, that should be enough to do what you want it to do.
This part is only to avoid clotting up your desktop with short cuts you only use through your gw2.bat file anyway.
8: Create a new folder. Put your GuildWars2 shortcut, Gw2Update shortcut and gw2.bat inside the new folder.
9: Place the new folder inside the Guild Wars 2 folder.
10: make a short cut to the gw2.bat.
11: use the short cut to the gw2.bat file to launch the game from wherever you want to launch it from.

The new build gave us some nice balance changes for the revenant. Even though this is a good direction for the revenant, it really doesn’t add up for their lack of utility skills. It really suck that the revenant have 9 utility skills less than the other classes. (Not counting the racial skills)… The fact that there’s no more utility skills than what each legend can use, makes it feel fixated, as though there’s no versatility to it what so ever…
Or is that just me?

We really lack, a bank tab with infinite space, for key junk items, such as the broken caladbolg and this hoard of unsellable junk and books we find in the new maps. Items, that is or can be usable for story and events later on, but serve no purpose for the player, here and now.
It’d be nice with room to store the immense amount of such junk without clotting up your bank tabs or inventory.

This will never happen. There’s a reason why they purposely made racial skills crappy. They said in the beginning of the game that they didn’t want 1 race to have any advantage over the others. Race is just for aesthetics. And race/gender locking classes is a relic of the past that needs to die out anyway. Its terrible game design and I’ve always hated it in every mmo I’ve ever played.
No one said it should be locked to the class… Just that it should be themed by the race…

OP: I’ve given this suggestion a few times before with a lot more content to it. I like the idea ^^-
Asura – Golemancer
Charr – Fire Shaman (Fire ele on crack)
Human – COMMANDO . . . FOR THE LOVE OF GODS!!!! (would be like assassin/ranger/warriors rolled into one. Skills could be calling in mortar strikes. Possible elite skill could be calling in a super air ship strike ERMERGED!!!)
Sylvari – Dragon magic?? (Think an elite class, since Sylvair seem to be the closest to being affected by the Dragons, maybe they can some how harness the dragons power for good????)
Norn – Shapeshifter type class (think how engineers have their skills to use grenades, bombs, etc, but norn can shapeshift to bear, wolf, etc . . . similar to their current elite skills, but a regular skill and better . . . maybe current elite skills gives this class a super form of bear, wolf, etc . . . idk)
Asura and Norn – I think that the shaman and golemancer should be able to use their shapeshift abilities and powersuit permanently and gain access to use healing/utility/elite skills while they do.
Charr – Flame sharmans are not a charr thing it’s a flame legion thing… If we get a charr spesific race I’d prefer something that allows us to use their claws and teeth in battle… And I think it would be more fitting.
Human – Monk or Dervish! xD (Pardon me for being hopeful, but I still want to see more of the human gods in the game, a racial class would make excellent grounds for this.)
Sylvari – yeah, or what we already know they have: The Pale reavers
Maybe except a golemance would work elsewhere. Asura ripping off other races, teaching them for a high price >:)
boom explained.
Except that they don’t. The only golemancers in the game are Asura. Smart Asura sell their services rather than their technology. I’m sure after Scarlett they are even more guarded with their technology.
If you pay a little attention to the arcane councils structure, the only thing keeping them from being as evil as the inquest, is paperwork. I doubt they’ll keep their secrets to themselves for long if they find benefit in sharing it.
A Golemancer class could be shared to all the races, if nothing else it could be done by looks and styles
HOWEVER
A Pilot class could do the trick: While the golemancers are the one’s constructing the golems, we have seen other races pilot golems before.

would condi warr be nice for epidemic synergy?

First: You need to ask this in the “players helping players” sub forum.
Second: Using a warrior for stacking might on a party with a Guard and a Necro seems like a complete waist to me. Those two can build up their own might without a problem.
Thrid: I’d still bring the warrior rather than the mesmer.

The Dreamer was fine for a long time, but I don’t think there is a point in the games history where people weren’t whining about the sound it makes. So Anet keeps trying to fix it, and it keeps getting worse.
I’m tired of it being changed every time someone complains about it.
The sounds are fine, they do not need to be taken away, and there are people, such as myself, who have pointed out that a good compromise would be to have the horse sounds firing off randomly (once between every 5 to 10 shots). It would let the bow have it’s identifying sound, without making it annoyingly repetitive. However Anet’s only attempts to fix the issue have been the change the sound itself, which has had negative results.
I like the sounds, and I do not want them removed, however there are compromises that I feel are totally acceptable, it’s just that no-one seems to want to work on a compromise.
Sure, a compromise: Make an option to turn off legendary effects all together. Both graphics and sound. The legendary weapons often get in the way of other people trying to do puzzles (or other places that involve jumping, like the uncategorised fractal).
Or make a completely different sound for the dreamer that wouldn’t make the mad king thorn sparkle with rainbows when it shoots.. One that isn’t of the kind that goes straight in the nervous system and makes little gibs go down the spine like little needles poking in your bones.

Fighting in air (while gliding) totally needs to happen. What say you guys.
go play Aion
:)
flying =/= standing in the air and move freely
No fantasy game allows you to fly, not WoW, Aion or Riders of Icarus. What you can do there is far from flying.
Fighting while gliding is actual really close to real flying, like a bird or a plain would do. With a nice mechanic for combat against other flying targets, Guild Wars could create a unique “World of Warplane” feeling, as in “you” do the flying not the machine.
Though it would be really difficult since gliding even with upstreams and ley lines provides far less freedom of movement as a small motorized plane would.
So playing as “bomber” as we already can do, is probably the closest to aerial combat we get.
Skill 1 in the air Focused Magic is not a ground targeting skill… They technically just need to add flying targets in maps with up-drafts to get aerial combat…

Here’s what the Wiki has to say:
Dungeon DR reduces the completion rewards for completing the same path more than once. It affects the direct rewards for completing each path and applies to dungeon tokens, experience, karma, and Empyreal Fragments. Unlike other forms of DR, dungeon DR is account-based, meaning it cannot be avoided by running the same path on multiple characters. It works in two ways:
The bonus reward (40 tokens) is only awarded once per path per day, resetting at the same time as the dailies.
Completing the path consecutively triggers a second type of DR, which reduces the base reward for that path by half until reaching a minimum value.
Rapidly clearing different dungeon paths in succession also causes diminishing returns.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Diminishing_returns#Dungeon_DR
Good luck.

Would the better alternative not be to have players opt for reincarnating as Awakened, with Egyptian face options added and, regardless of the former, being able to switch to the Mordant Crescent as the final multiracial order?
As far as I know, the only case of reincarnation in the lore of guild wars, is the monk skill from gw1. Save for that I’m not aware of there having ever been any case of it before?
I am however in doubt. Can anyone else shed some light on this matter? Is reincarnation in accordance with the guild wars lore?

That said: I have a hard time seeing how this is relevant to the topic? o.O I mean, awakening as an undead or a sylvari becomming a mordrem guard, or turning into the friend of Steve is hardly a rebirth. Infact, i fail to see how any of the corruption can cause any kind of rebirth?

I am more crying about the fact that these swords are too flat and too wide… But honestly, if this was the skin, i wouldn’t care about that… These colours .
gewsh…

It may be in game but truthfully, lore wise, it makes no sense. Why should any god bless an atheist? How does the Charr statue give a boon when boon giving at a statue is a god like attribute. Why would making a statue of a mortal, no matter how famous they are, give the statue or the dead person the ability to give a blessing? Why only Charr statues then? Why wouldn’t statues of famous Humans, Norn, Sylvari or Asura give a buff too upon request?
But, no matter. You just want shrines and statues that give buffs and whether or not it makes sense is beside the point.
/shrug.
I’ve said a few times now, and allow me to cut it out in neon for you The Buff Does Not Matter! It Is Not Important!
No one care about the buff… it’s a minor effect… What we care about is the Flavour and the Lore… And it makes perfect sense. Why would a god not bless ANYONE who chose to worship them, regardless of which race they belong to?
Kneeling in front of a shrine = sign of worship. Thus the god would bless you, regardless of which race you belong to…What you want is already in the game for the most part then since you are ignoring boons. Go to racial cities and you will find statues, labs, and whatever. Well, not the Sylvari but plants and the Great Tree are there. Is it just a matter of requesting the emotes then?
As I understand OP’s perspective, it’s the possibility of some sort of lore-related reaction from paying homage/saluting/worshipping at these shrines that is being requested here. Shrine/statue-emote interactions already exist at rare points through Central Tyria, and it would be nice to see more.
Not really… my point is that kryta is bigger than divinity’s reach. Yet there is no intact shrines except for in DR. I don’t care about what is in the cities. The cities are packed with it and need nothing more. I care about what is in the countryside. my suggestion is simply that the Krytan maps are made to contain some of the Human culture that have been completely neglected in this game, but was there as a subtle layer in All of the first guild wars.
The emotes/Salutes/Whatever are just a minor detail that I don’t really give a dime about, but some people find it amusing to get a reaction from doing stuff.
Heck, for all i care it might as well just write on your screen “You feel the gods gaze upon you” and then nothing else happens. Though I don’t care about the boons and what’s not, it would still make sense to use it, since it’s already implemented.EDIT: As it is now, the human maps are generic around maps with NO cultural depth and NO feeling that connect them to their race. I find this sad and i think adding some flavour to the maps could improve the experience from being in them, a lot.
I would not say they are lacking in flavor, I am guessing you are from the US or at least western Europe?
At one point I was thinking of what music genres would go best with different maps. For example, Orr was somewhere between darker Pink Floyd pieces and some types of metal. Anyway, I put Kryta as country/western. Depending on your RL culture that may be standard but it is certainly a genre! Think of it from an, oh, Charr POV … it is completely different than what you grew up with.
The people that live in Kryta probably revere spots already. Mountains in the local lore, special buildings, things like that.
You’re way off dude… I’m from Scandinavia. And I’m not comparing it to irl I’m comparing it to gw1.

Oh, is that what you were asking for. I couldn’t make heads nor tails out of your previous post.
Yeah. Shrines we could kneel at and get boosts would be cool. However since the lore says the gods have left Tyria to itself I don’t see how it would work. Either they’re around and they can give boosts or they’re not around and they can’t.
The gods left according to the lore, way before the events of gw1 during the exodus of the gods… We have racial skills that call their power as it is. that they gods left only means that they left In Person.
Edit: Thus, after the events of gw1, the only thing that makes the gods be less essential, is that we have abandoned them, not the other way around. :P
At the end of Nightfall, the gods told us that we were on their own in the cut scene at the end of the next to last mission. That was long after the exodus.
Obviously. They were talking about the fight against Abaddon. I fail to see how that is related to anything. Especially since they still answer our prayers. (Have a look at the human racial skills >.>)
