Maybe once you engage in combat they would disappear and work like they currently do.

Anet, the only MMO developer that removes content from their game.

It is all perspective. Look at other mmo’s and how there is so much unused content. Everyone already been there and done that. Taking this tower for an example, they leave it in for 2-4 weeks. We spend those weeks playing the kitten out of it, then it goes away. That lends itself to give the LS a feeling of it being living. It was defeated, and now its it no longer exists.

It keeps things from getting boring and then ignored. Which we all know, happens with all content. They give it to us, take it away and give us something new, then some time down the road they give it back to us in an altered state to keep it fresh and interesting.

I didn’t find it hard or awful. I mainly collected mine by running with a zerg. The fact it counted toward daily harvest too, was nice. I also have made around 12-13 gold in the process by selling all the drops and selling the extra spores. So, no complaints from me.

Best weapons for dungeons?

in Mesmer

Posted by: daemonlama.5413

daemonlama.5413

Why yes, I’m sure telling people a weapon is bad is completely irrelevant to a thread about the best weapons for dungeons. It’s telling them what weapons to avoid.

That is just it, you aren’t just answering the question. They are asking what is best, not a insulting rant on what you consider bad.

As for your suspension, the mods don’t just hand those out because someone complained, they have to see that the reason was valid. Which apparently they felt the complaint was justified.

The truth is, you do come off aggresive, rude and insulting. You cannot force your ideals and opinions on people and then go raging when they decide they want to go in another direction. Live and let live. Don’t worry how others are playing.

It has already been said, to grow your friends list with like minded people and run with your guild to avoid those you deem less desirable.

a·chieve·ment (-chvmnt)
n.
1. The act of accomplishing or finishing.
2. Something accomplished successfully, especially by means of exertion, skill, practice, or perseverance. See Synonyms at feat.

People have it in their mind that any achievements should be easily gotten, and be able to obtain them quickly.

Map completion is not a timed event, so you don’t have to get it done yesterday. it is something that is suppose to take time, and yes in some cases, take some effort.

As already stated a hundred times, it is not something you HAVE to even do. If it is something you want to complete, then accept the routes required.

I have no where near getting all the WvW vistas, and no I am not some big time pvp’er, but when I stray out on my own or with a couple of others, it is so much fun if we run into resistance. It is all perspective. Look at it as the challenge it is, accept the challenge.

You all do realize that WoW didn’t start off with millions of players right?…..They started off with under a mil and then it grew over time. With the “dumbed down” gameplay and the pop culture/trendy marketing, it brought in people who would have never otherwise even known about the genre.

And let us not forget the horrible release. Crashing, so much down time, people spent more time waiting for the game to come back online then they actually spent playing the game during the first few weeks. Take away all the expansion and look just at the base game and see that it wasn’t this endless amount of content. so please take off these rose colored glasses that WoW was born on top and with loads of content and players.

Even EQ still has a playerbase and it is 13 years old and doesn’t sport millions of players. It is standing the test of time and people still enjoy it, to me that says success.

I miss EQ. I know there are certain things I wouldn’t like now, like corpse runs, but then again, if a game came out with them, I would not complain. I am sure there are other little things I could live without, but wouldn’t be bothered if they were in game.

But the fact that an entire generation of mmo players have never experienced a train is sad to me. I remember trains in EQ and it never got old to me, I always got excited and wanted to go see how big it was. lol I only remember someone using trains to grief once, and I guess in my young girl wimzy, i laughed the whole time because it was….thrilling. Trying to survive, escape it. It felt dangerous. The games world as a whole felt dangerous.

I remember leveling to 56 around 5 times before I got enough xp to distance myself from 55. And once I was at the half way mark, I was so pleased lol. It was like a small victory, I had to really earn that level lol I know that sounds like it would suck, but to me, it was one of those minor accomplishments that left me feeling like “yes, i did it.”

"Stow Pet" - Permanently (Ranger)

in Suggestions

Posted by: daemonlama.5413

In GW1 I never actually used my pet with my ranger.

I’ve actually grown used to having it in GW2, but there are definitely situations where the pet becoming un-stowed is irritating.

Generally if I’ve stowed my pet it’s because the pet is hindering my ability to do something ‘precise’ and I want it out of the way. I’d definitely like an option to stow my pet for longer.

When stowed, the three pet options vanish, the space could be used to give 3 variations of stowed. e.g.
F1 – Return if I take any damage
F2 – Return if I am at 50% health
F3 – Return only if called

This is a brilliant idea.

I am checking forms now days more as an amusing thing to watch the drama unfold and see how fast players realize this game seems to be empty of anything to actually do at level cap.

Also, to be an instigator. just a few seconds looking through the “all posts by this user” option showed me enough.

Hide behind, “I am here for amusement”, but what does that really say about you? How dull must life be in order for someone to linger around a forum of a game they don’t like just to troll…just sayin.

What do you mean with hardcore. Like EQ1 hardcore?
Where you respawn naked and have to fight your way back to your corpse to get gear back?
Where dying in some places without any respawn or way to get back in?
Where disarm makes you drop your weapon on the ground for any player to pick up? Where mob spawns required for progression are so rare you need to camp the same spot for hours/days?

Won’t deny it was a lot of fun back in the day. But tbh if they released that 2012 I think I would have to pass.

Where dying meant you lost xp…(I dinged 56 5 times before I got enough xp to distance myself from level 55.

Where mobs would follow you all the way to the zone out, creating at times massive trains, that could and would attack anyone caught in the path of said train?

Multiple pistol wielding pirates. Oh hey a pirate fight him and 3 more come out from nowhere, oh and of course they don’t all shoot me at once so I can dodge it all, I’m running from pirate to pirate limping like a zombie can’t decide which one to kill (because at least one of them crippled me) whIle my character looks like a piñata getting blasted from different angles all at once hahaha.

Also any mob that pulls, such a great mechanic, but boy it can inspire some rage when you aren’t expecting it/low hp/30572047 mobs next to the one that pulled you.

This thread is hilarious.

I am enjoying this thread.

I hate that zombie limp. Nothing worse than realizing you are in over your head, and try to run, but end up in that limping state, with both ‘v button’ flip flops used and self heal still on CD. Sometimes I just turn around like, I’m going down fighting!!! /battlecry.

Monsters I find I can’t stand are kraits. Really any underwater monster. I feel I suck at underwater fighting. I have a ‘dmg charge’ ability that I can’t ever seem to get a proper aim and end up going way over him or way under, in which I have no control over my character during that time, so at times I end up charging right into a set of mobs a mile away. When I see a skill point or event underwater, I facepalm.

Best MMORPG on the Market!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

daemonlama.5413

No. Its not the best mmo on the market. That title is still reserved for WoW. Before you bash me, no, i have not played WoW for many years now. But you cannot deny the level of content and polish WoW has.

That said, IF Anet can get their kittens together. Then this game definitely has the POTENTIAL to be the best MMO on the market.

In your opinion of course. I personally never considered WoW the best. I personally feel Everquest was the best, but that in no way means it was the best for everyone.

So, everyone needs to stop speaking for the masses and speak for the ONE person you have a right to speak for…yourself. And yourself only.

IMO This game is not anti social, but lacks social aspects.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: daemonlama.5413

daemonlama.5413

The game isn’t antisocial. And why would a game have to hold your hand to get you to be social? It is up to the players to interact with people. I often, start chit-chatting with people when I’m reviving them or during escort events. It usually gets others talking, even if it’s just for that mission.

But there have been plenty of times where people will suggest going and doing something else after that event and usually people will be like ok and we run around the zone, doing hearts, and de’s etc.

It just takes one person taking that first step and speaking up to break the ice.

Well, now he and everyone knows that GW2 is not GW1. Now hopfully we can move past this and either adjust/adapt or find enjoyment else where.

I seen this once, when Everquest 2 came out. Everyone ran to it thinking it was Everquest with better updated graphics. And if i recall correctly one of the guys, his name eludes me atm, said that was one regret/mistake they made with the game. (Naming it Everquest.)

So, I guess a lesson we can learn from this is, next time a company creates a game and uses a 2 after the name sake, go in looking for a new game unless otherwise stated.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

daemonlama.5413

GW2 needs to turn it around and do it in a hurry if they are going to retain their player base. Its starting to look like previous flopped MMO’s and people are becoming bored and disgruntled quickly.

Don’t give me the garbage “You should have enjoyed the game and played slower…”

Where do people get off telling other people how to play? Some people play for end game and some people play more casual. You cant force a community to play casual. You have to plan for all types of play styles and if it took another year of development and a subscription fee….I would have paid it and waited.

Either way…. IMO…the biggest test for the development team isn’t year 1 or year 5 etc… its the first 2-3 months of release. They have done pretty well with server issues but pretty horrible at testing end tier content (60+), class balance, and botting to name a few….

You obviously didn’t follow the devolopment of this game or did any research before hand. People telling you that are just passing on what ANET had planned. ‘Endgame starts at level 1’ ring a bell at all to you? In other words, if choose to rush, skipping over and ignoring basicly the entire game, that is on you. You honestly can’t complain there is no content when you ignore it all. Try going back, and actually playing the game, follow the storylines, help people along the way.

Not every game is or has to be a rush to level cap. If that is your playstyle, fine, there are way more than enough games to fullfill your style. And just because a game dares to take its own path, doesn’t mean it will not succeed.

There are plenty of us who enjoy this game, and plenty more who will adjust and discover the beauty of just playing and not mindless rushing for some carrot on a stick.

You see, the beauty of this game aside from the game itself, is it has no monthly sub. Therefore, if you bought it, it is yours. You can play it till your hearts content. Then go play something else, come back at your leisure and play it again. No sub fee binding you to keep coming back. No major gear grind that is REQUIRED to do the next set of content. (Which by the way keeps you bound to keep playing, because getting behind in those types of games can really set you back, and causes your friends to either go on without you or suck it up and put their goals on hold while you play the never ending catch up game.)

So, play, take a break, come back when they add new content updates, which they have said will be at no cost to you, so again you have nothing to lose. New expansions.

Forums are infamous for complainers. Look at any game anywhere and you will see threads with complainers and whiners that actually drown out legit concerns. Because they go on and on. I don’t expect the OP will be around to answer this but if you are I have a question for you.

You say that you pay $15 a month to WoW for consistent updates. If that is so why do you pay extra for expansions? I guess some updates aren’t so free.
Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm and your coming Mists of Panda exp all cost you extra.

You can buy and play GW2 for $60. That is exactly 4 months of your $15/mo. are your updates coming out quicker than every 4 months?

So what exactly does the $15/mo you pay them give you?
-They charge you already for the game.
-They charge you for each expansions.

Only thing they don’t charge you for is the bug fixes which seemed to take forever to fix when I played that game. Is that what they charge you $15/mo for?

I see them rolling out updates and new builds here just about every night or two.

And don’t forget they basicly have a cash shop. $25 for mounts and what is it $10 for fluff pets. They may have added more, I haven’t cared to look.

You mean to tell me that it cost them $25 each to have that sparkle pony in the game? But those folks over there keep dishing out money to them like its totally justified.

So pay to buy the game, then pay to play the game, and pay to play new content, and pay to get in game items…

For those saying that MoP will kill this game if ANET doesn’t get on the ball….please.

This game has sold over 2.5 million copies, with more being sold daily. Even if one million people leave, we are still left with a very healthy population of players. On top of the fact that this isn’t sub based. And this is a very good, solid game that will keep people playing and/or coming back for more.

If you rushed through this game, or ‘chose’ to skip/ignore half of the content, then that is on you. That isn’t the fault of the game. If you purchased this game with little to no research on what this game openly and repeatedly said it was about. And how it worked, that again is on you. I am not being hateful (cause I know you will read it like that), I am just speaking the truth. I never put my money on something without fully informing myself to make sure I will not be wasting money on something that doesn’t suit my needs/wants.

It is humanly impossible for a game to create enough content to satisfy this type of rush player. On top of the fact that GW2 never once said the game starts at 80. but rather at level 1. So, in other words, slow down, take you time and enjoy the journey.
