I could go with more steps, but honestly, simplicity is best. Dodge Entangle and you’re pretty much set as he is relying on his bleed on crit trait to do any damage if you keep facing him. Which, with the build you linked, is a mere 20% chance to actually proc if he has Fury at that moment. Otherwise, only ~13% chance.

well, as i said i went down earlier on my condi engi in less than 10 sec.
on the top of that chat he himself said he can 20 stack no prob, i believe each was about 90 per tic or so.
in the end – this is like death by thousand paper cuts, not much to dodge or avoid, but it happens so fast it feels more like burst.
i’ve watched it against some of the best cleansers, eles, guards, they all went down.
here is another sc of the same toon. notice 3k armor. he also had 2 condi cleans per survival util. very tanky and also very bursty in bleeds.

the build itself is not unique or anything, i’ve seen number of variations of this. it’s just overall too many bleeds too fast.

77 bleeds on death recap means 77 ticks of bleeding. Bleeds also tick 1/second.

i stayed away, i cleansed one boatload but when i get hit with 77 bleeds over 20 sec fight, i am not sure how i am supposed to survive.

its debatable. true, as posted above elixir S doesn’t contest point, but it’s much stronger than war stances.
Only way I can face these guys is with boatloads of evasion being available. It’s like a cat on a hot tin roof style of play… pretty irritating and not easy to win.
dunno what evade does against sustaindamage of rocket/rifle/flame. only cc turrets may be.

i earned all my rank point (r51 currently) entirely through hotjoins. i prefer hotjoin. no pressure to all other modes.
AOE doesn’t work because as far as the game is concerned there’s essentially 2+ teams worth of players standing on that point and all but 2 of them are immune to conditions, and no matter how much aoe you have you can only hit 5 at a time with each attack, and you don’t get decide which.
That’s why I say it’s not worth it to ever fight 2 turret Engi’s on the same point. The turrets can’t leave, and it’s not worth the time it takes to remove them.
turrets are not that glued to the spot. rifle and flame will be nearly off cd as you move from node to node.

if any of these are not from carret, positioning is terrible, and yes, single meteor shower would wipe this out.
Against this build in team fight, just CC/condi/focus/burst. No stab or barely any condi clear. Prob eziest target to go after in team.
In 1v1 situation, just leave come back later to decap. If he leaves he has no turret, if he camps then team fights will be 4v5. But if you must head one 1v1 don’t bother killing turrets. Burst/CC/condi, and line of sight, can’t hide from all of them, but you still minimize. Or fight fire with fire by using turret engi.
lol, not so fast, you can throw this cc/condi/focus/burst catchphrase on anything, but it doesn’t always stick,
- first, there is an offhand shield.
- then there is turret knockback, and yes, i like to stand by my rocket turret. i never overcharge it but for knockback.
- then, most likely i am not even on the node, for i dont have to be. why would i risk my kitten, my turrets with 1.2k dps can take down anyone, what do i have to add, pistol #2 and #3?
after you are through all these hurdles yes, you may get to me, but most likely my turrets with 1500 range 1.2k dps sustain got to you before.
i am not saying it’s unkillable, but its very good for doing nothing. yesterday i queued with s/d thief on soloQ. there were all light armor and thief there already, so i switched to this guy. we won and i ended on the top of the roster, just for hiding behind the pillars most of the time. all my turrets in foefire mid bushes, only once thief tried to go after rocket turret, i just changed my target (still behind the pillars). he got one turret down and went down with it.
you can’t bring this guy down by “going after turrets”. probably you are speaking based on your encounters with thumper turrets x3 rifle engi, but that is a different story.

most of l2p advice here would so wasted.
aoe – no way, they are all 900 unit apart in a big triangle, not even bounce would work.
take them down? id love that, you’ll be half way through second turret when you go down.
your only chance is to eat my dps and burst me, for which you have under 10 sec of time to live. and then stomp me fast, for if you go down, most likely ill rally.
What my main point is is combat.
It feels very simplistic, nearly everything hits multiple targets and there is little to no drawback on skill-usage.
There is no resource-management or anything that punishes you for using something.- You can auto-attack and keep doing a ton of damage.
- You can spam conditions and not get punished.
- You can time a dodge/block/evade an attack that comes from stealth but it won’t reveal the attacker.
- You can become immune for a period of time with the click of a button.
auto wont win you an engagement. but it creates pressure and ticking clock. i see this as superior to other combats without auto, where you can dance around forever risking little.
about condi spam: i noticed what in power would be called “timed play” in condi is “spam”. power players (possibly from other mmo background) think of dot’s as “special”, exceptional and not regular combat. well that’s elsewhere, in gw2 condi and power are at par, build diversity is such that most profs can build on either base. and that’s good. else, what makes say pry bar less skilled than fire grab?
dodging doesnt reveal stealth? im not sure why should it, but even so, would this justify passing judgement on entire game combat?
immune for period? isnt this a matter of timing than? whats spammy about it? anything that’s scarce means decision, and decision is either skilled or not.

There is obviously somewhat of it, but not as much to make it interesting.
like jasher said. i don’t think you’ve seen the challenge and found it easy. more likely you are yet unaware of it. try dueling, try rotation management, and you’ll know which way it is.
My thoughts about this PvP:
- Combat does not feel engaging.
- There is little to no excitement when fighting other players.
- Basically you use your skills when they are off cooldown with little to no drawback.
- Most of the time it feels more like a spam-fest than doing thoughtful processing.
- Almost everything is an AoE, there is almost no paying attention or targeting required.
- No skillful positioning, too many leaps, teleports and shadowsteps in this game.
- Combat feels like a mess, lack of overiew due to the big effects from most skills.
- While I like the dodge mechanic, it sometimes feels too spammy. Thieves in general can spam dodge and evades all day long. It turns down it’s uniqueness of the dodge mechanic.
- In general, it feels more like how much damage can you do while your opponent is defenseless.
- Game feels only like it’s about dealing damage.

but it does have poison which imo it is much better than cripple.
poison is good, but without cripple target may go out of range. usually thief would have swiftness from steal,etc, but i still find it a problem.

its been around for over a year.. the ranger just popped a couple of signets before he used it (Its base damage is already quite high).
2 hits can add up to 9k+

i’m on my 2.2 armor d/p thief. he runs in, i die from full hp hardly seeing any animation whatsoever. bewildered, i look up log, says path of scars x2 = 9k.
i switch to spectator, look up his build. nothing special, path of scars 573 damage. can s1 pls explain, what magic turns 573 damage into 4.5k?

armor part is what i need now. i have bunch of spvp boxes to open, some of them offer armor choices, would help if i know what to choose.
So the ele is basically good at getting away from a fight….or running away from a point. So you’ve left the point, and left your teammates. Also about a warrior vs an ele on survivability?…..really?. This is why tpvp team run so few warriors….they fall over so so easily!
not really. he will be back in 5 sec with full health, reset and ready to go. d/d spec is one of the fastest builds to recover and reenter the fight.

i went like this: i attacked, he attacked back, i tried to survive, my teammate showed up and jumped on him, killing. “nice swap fight” he said.
is it tanking enemy damage, while teammate damages enemy?

id rather not switch to zerker for now, ill keep it as it is.
im not playing shatter build, im playing phantasms, but still, cant figure why is my shatter so low.
i even got sigil of int to proc them , still it hits around 700×3 on heavy gollem. when im hit by shatter, its around 5k or so.
However I do think that thieves crowd out other zerker builds. It would be nice if thieves didn’t have such a massive advantage when fighting a zerker mesmer or something similar. How one would change thieves so that they are weaker against squishy specs while not nerfing them against hambow, nade engi, or the popular ele builds I have no clue.
