It’s not even worth it. You guys have upgraded a lot of the stuff you took during the night AND you took all 3 orbs. Did you honestly expect after creating a huge advantage during your night caps that we’d be able to come back and stomp you? If you did you’re not too bright.

Nope and that was the plan, it was calculated.

Because we knew SBI and ET were out for us and that we would have to play the defense game all weekend. Which we did, and neither of SBI or ET showed to be better then anyone else over the weekend same for HoD.

There was no truce between you, but you had a common goal that put HoD in your sights, and we stayed in range of your scores all weekend while defending what we had against two servers. Then we took advantage of your weak night game during the weekdays, believe it or not you do have people that play at night, they just aren’t as good.

Its about winning the long fight, its not about a 2 day fight congrats you won the battle over the weekend(not as a solo server either)… but we will win the war and the war is the big picture.

im not belittling the efforts of SBI (which incidentally is my fave and most respected server besides my own) but if it wasnt for that double focus we wont have been behind by 30k right at the get go. losing maybe, but not by an astonishing 30k. our unbeaten record speaks for itself.

you must have either just started wvw this week or just freshly transferred from a lower tier if you think HoD is a pushover.

The rest of the weekend SBI kept control in Eternal Battleground with large forces hitting us from all sides.

Instead, it appeared that both SBI and ET were working together to push HoD off the map. On TS and in team chat, I asked why were not pushing into ET territory. Simple answer: we need to focus HoD.

edit: also this only went on for the first 2 days of the matchup. after we managed to break out of the deadlock and regained all our main towers, SBI went back to doing their thing and ruin kept doing theirs, which is constantly sending their mob of 60ish players at us every waking moment they have.

let me put it into my perspective for you.
on the first day of the matchup, after waiting 7hrs in queue.

have you ever had your keep bombarded on both sides by 3-4 trebs each, to the point your keep slightly resembles stonehenge?
have you ever tried swimming out the deadlock only to be camped by 60 players on either side?
have you have ever been chased by a group of 50 players only to run into another 40 from another faction where they wipe you and proceeded back to where they came from?

im not saying you arent fighting each other, but when both factions direct a majority of their forces onto a 3rd, its not gonna be easy.

With regards to double teaming, I would agree if the intention is to stop the dominant server from winning. But to help another server achieve a leading position with total disregard of their own position of achieving number 1. That to me is a blatant violation of the competitive spirit of WvWvW. Every server should play to win, but playing to be second and promoting another to be first is really despicable.

Even more so if a guild have sub guilds in other servers just so that they could coordinate attacks on one guild. I really hope that SB guilds doesnt plant subguilds into ET or other matchup servers for the sole purpose of achieving number 1.

But last weekend was just your standard wvw match. Everyone fought everyone and HoD lost. Sure some people have it in for HoD, but that didn’t stop any of us from attacking SBI. You do have a great off hour zerg killing uncontested objectives to cover for your low skill prime time play. So good for you. You need something to brag about during your 5 hour queues.

locked down. SBI too has admitted that they jumped on the opportunity as well.

The first thing I want to say is: HoD being 3rd place during the weekend is no more proof of skill than HoD being 1st place by the end of the week. They had a BRUTAL fight in store for them this weekend, and they will have another BRUTAL fight in store next weekend.

If anything, the top 4 servers are basically the same with level of organization and strategy.

WvW as it stands is primarily about numbers. You can’t see half (or sometimes the majority) of enemies when you run into them anyways. It’s about who has more AoE and more bodies to absorb AoE. There is some skill involved, but that is significantly diminished with server lag and rendering issues. That being said, WvW is about numbers ALL of the time, not just weekends or prime time. TA intentionally includes European and Oceanic guilds for 24/7 coverage. There is nothing stopping any other server from doing the same. If you know the rules of the game ahead of time and you plan ahead to maximize your potential within that rule set, I believe it’s called strategy.

Also when looking at WvW being a numbers game WITH a cap on each side (on each map), it is easy to see that any server that is the target of two servers should lose by design, assuming all servers have all WvW slots filled. If each server can have X players and server B and server C both attack server A from different directions, server A must defend at each location with roughly X/2 players while server B and server C can attack at each location with roughly the full X number of players. It’s pretty basic math. It’s only “even” when each server is pushing in two directions with around X/2 players. Yes, I am aware this oversimplifies things, as there are players that defend objectives and small groups that cap objectives in enemy territory, but it conveys the idea adequately.

But there IS something standing in the way… you see, all oceanic players currently have a server to play on. This isn’t 3 months prior to release. Yes, you guys were so forward thinking and amazing that you saw it coming and prepared and yadda yadda – GREAT! And guess what, you’ve won every single match since release (I guess). Awesome payoff for that foresight.

And now, unless something is done to balance out the servers somehow (I am not in favor of mechanics or systemic changes), W3 as an entire game mode will suffer and may even sputter out and fail in the near future.

Winning is cool. Winning all the time is cool, I guess. Winning forever because you are the only server with anyone left willing to even play the game is… cool?

if we win this matchup, it would really be much more of an incentive for us TA to transfer, just saying.

its obvious this fury dude has absolutely no map presence or is just plain ignorant.
he has no idea ruin dedicated 70-80 players to solely bear down on HoD during the weekend.
he has no idea that the bigger guilds in SBI opted to focus on HoD at the same time.
he has no idea that TA can hardly get any members into WvW due to the weekend queues.
he probably is one of those zerg pugs that run around smacking kitten, dying and respawn to do the same thing over and over again without objectives.

HoD got stomped while everyone was online over the weekend. Now that the adults are back to working they are making points back. Sounds like you have a lot of children/nighttime crew or jobless people on HoD. Friday – Sunday is the real match everything else is just for the teenagers and jobless to catch up. Either way not really something to be proud of. Considering that WvW is not a show of skill and individually most players are terrible.

well our guild leader usually orchestrates the entire server’s militia to compliment the guild’s forces in EB, like sometimes we’ll be the distraction so he can lead the main force elsewhere, or guilds (non-TA) would volunteer to hold a point or recap a supply camp when he asks for it.

in HoD, people know who to listen to. the trolls/disobedient ones are usually the new tail coat riding transfers.

I apologise for the outburst but on a more rational note, TA has realised this very early when it was jsut 1 week in, everyone started transferring into HoD, NA and Oceanics alike.

At the start it was just TA oceanic guilds holding the frontline and it was rather balanced. (4 guilds assigned.)

its disgustingly full now and it really is of no fault of ours, but almost every thread that is discussing “night capping” will inevitably target TA and our “overwheming oceanic timezone numbers” which in reality, has no more than 30 players in each wvw ground at any given night.

The self-righteousness in this thread is overwhelming.

What if the situation was reversed? You dont see players outside of US calling
it “primetime”. There is no primetime in a 24/7 evolving battleground. Proposing

no trying to claim all credit here, but the 3hrs leading up to the SM takeover until now was masterminded by SYN’s leader, Ritsuko.

SYN members worked nonstop cutting supplies, containing the ruin zerg in dredge, etc.

I was killing ET yaks alone at speldon’s until they had to fall back and assign 10-ish men to guarding them, which pulled some forces away from dredge. Once I confirmed that the zerg was reduced to a mere 20-ish ruin members we sent 10 SYN members in to wipe them out and claim dredge. They started playing defensive and there wasnt much activity from them the next hour so we used that window to takeover SM with 6 golems (before i DCed, sadly.)

An account from a HoD viewpoint.

I got into EB late as usual due to the massive queues on HoD, a couple of my SYN mates were already in there since EB reset 6hours before. We had about 8 of us when
I got in.

I was flabbergasted when i took a peek at our map. we had nothing but our spawn, and Lowlands was under heavy assault on both ends. When i finally fought through the massive horde of both SBI and ET forces just out of our spawn and into our Lowlands Keep, I was speechless. The glorious keep now bore more than just a slight resemblance to Stonehenge. Just a couple of walls with rubble all over.

After a quick scout around, I identified 4 trebs to the east in Jerri, and 2 more in the west in Aldons, all of which were mercilessly pelting our walls. We had absolutely no supplies, no manpower and no siege equipment. This was new to me. We’ve never been under this much pressure before.

Fxfighter and Ritsuko then mapped out SYN’s plan of action. We had to ninja past the huge ruin zerg camping outside Lowlands keep in the east to get to Rogue’s Quarry, to at least get supplies to begin what was the longest siege defense HoD ever had to face.

We barely made it across the water before ruin trucked over our 8 players like an avalanche. This wasnt working very well, I thought. So i decided to take it upon myself to lead the zerg away while my teammates try their very best to get to a supply camp, just long enough for everyone to grab a 10pack. Against all odds, it worked. We had barely enough for a treb, which was our first order of the day. One treb to rule them all.

Right now HOD is the most organized, beastly server in WvW gamewide.

They have better comms, they consistently get larger organized groups out (large groups of single guilds instead of small groups of many guilds).

So they maul face. So both Stormbluff and Jade are trying to play for second place. More or less accepting that HOD is going to win and trying to knock the other server down out of the matchup.

Really, Jade and Storm should be teaming up to fight HOD. That’s how 3 way matchup realm wars are supposed to work; the weaker teams group up to fight the stronger. This is how it worked in DAOC.

Why isn’t this happening in WvW so far? IMO it’s the matchmaking system. We aren’t “stuck” with our matchups, so we are not given the normal incentives to work together to knock the strongest faction down a peg.

TLDR: Stormbluff and Jade SHOULD be ignoring eachother and both fighting HOD. In DAOC this is how it would have happened. That it’s not happening is a somewhat troubling sign of how the incentives are working in the WvW server matchup system.

This. Believe it or not, HoD has an alliance made up of several guilds including Oceanic ones, and the guilds have allocated timings for each guild to take care of WvW. When other guilds in the alliance appear during another guild’s time slot, the guilds help out each other.

Ever seen a HoD guild harassing dolyaks while another guild builds up a strategic treb to starve out the keep we’re targeting and prevent them from getting supplies for repairs? This is how we roll. So is someone going to tell us that we’re doing something illegal and against the rules?

i doubt it. such things never happened.

the reason why you are getting hit on from both sides, is because you guys are so single-minded. Learn to use the map more, pay more attention and anticipate the opponents next course of action.

Eg: just 30mins ago, SBI took Klovan from us, so i ported back to Overlook to mortar the keep while the militia try to cap it. Someone reported we lost Mendon’s to JQ, so I decided to wait till you take Speldon’s before porting back to SMC to man the treb/mortar defending Anzalias (which obviously you were about to hit, after Speldon.)

Its all initiative. You guys need to weigh defense and offense more carefully. Defending towers should always be a priority.

I’ll say this once more:

JQ relentlessly attacks SBI umberglade camps and bravost/durios without leaving defenses in their northwest side.

HoD sees this opportunity to attack Anzalias/Mendons and proceeds to do so. While their towers are being attacked, JQ REFUSES to back out of SBI territory to defend their own, so after quelling the JQ invasion, SBI now sees an opportunity to attack while they defend Anzalia’s. SO WE PUSH.

On the flipside, when we attack Ogrewatch with a large force, more often than not our southern towers will get sieged by HoD. However, we (oftentimes) have the sense to leave scouts and defenders. If the force is large enough, SBI FORCES ACTUALLY PULL OUT AND MOUNT A PROPER DEFENSE. HoD forces see taking QL just won’t happen, and back out.

HoD are great opportunists. Show them you won’t make their siege easy, and they’ll back out.

JQ has crap tactics and doesn’t know how to properly defend or attack. They make themselves a target by being bad defenders.

In other news,
I spent 2 hours sitting on a mortar facing Anzalias semi afk, just bombing their keep or the players that run past. Amazingly ive killed full groups that just stood there on the bridge. And noone even bothers to take my mortar out. Not sure if blind or just stupid.
