Svanir need a nerf, and it need before the relases of HoT. It will be so sad if we cant spam our attunements and overloads without a sense of logic while risking of be killed from it.

Talking about pve Staff fire tempest deserve a nerf mate. Staff Ele is top dps since years + has the larger AoE damage in game + give offensive support at party with some might from fire overload + heals from wash the pain away + It’s Pretty easy to play. Also in raids can Pretty much prevent a full wipe with a timed rebound.
The fact it has 11k hp doesn’t mean nothing in raids where there is an healer… Also have such low HP has pros and cont. For example is easier keep up scholar runes buff lol.

As an Ele main since years I would not complain if they nerf it, while I would love if they keep fresh air tempest as it is, since it is more balanced in my opinion.

There was made A LOT of post the only time that arenent said they would buff the scepter.
That buff was 1 stack of vulnerability on shatterstone.
Arenant dont read this forum, and even if they read they don’t care about our suggestion.
So i would suggest you to spend your time in better ways… Because every moment spent to think or write about the scepter is a waste of time. Sadly.

Umm viper reaper can’t even compete with power tempest, let alone condi tempest.
Also someone above said that condi reaper dps is not the best but its decent….

Its not a decent dps build when u get oudpsed by condi ps 24/7, especially on fights were u dont even have to interrupt your rotation.

Condi reaper is really decent dps. Is not Easy to pull out (but even S/W Tempest is Easy) since you have to learn how combo finisher your field (as I said before) but once you get it you can do way more DPS than a condi PS.
Then if you get outdpsed from a condi PS means you are making mistake on your rotation, but even on Power Tempest if you mess up with your rotation you can get lower numbers than a condi ps, since it is Also a very unforgiving rotation.
To not mention how usefull is epidemic in some encounter, and without taking in discussion the fact that have a Tempest in group that give you icebow can push your DPS even more.

Yeah it’s a shame that the only amulet that you can really pick, no matter what build you’re trying, is celestial.

Want a dps build? Marauder doesn’t have toughness.
Want a condi build? There’s no Dire stats in pvp or perplexity runes needed for condi ele.
Want a bunker build? Celestial works so much better than Soldier or Sentinel.
Want a support build? As you said, no healing power + thoughness/vitality amulet.

And also Dagger cele do more damage (burning+damage) than a marauder scepter

If you remove the 50% boon duration for allies, all chrono will builds for 100% boon duration, meaning revenant will be out of raids. Because you know, in pve the dps of revenant is not that high, and for now revenant is taked in raid only for boon duration and protection (but hammer guard is better for protection on stationary bosses and also better dps).
Never saw anyone complain for rev’s f2 so idk why you should nerf it. And also never saw no one complain for dps revenant at all in pve.
For pvp, IF revenant need a nerf, it need a nerf on defensive stuff

@Laraley: I was refering a Schmendric, btw yes, before quikness ress/stomp if you needed to power ress (obvously you cant ress alone) someone you could did it with mist form, or obsidian flash obviusly.

Btw my point was that healing in mist form is a kind of mechanics not healty for the game, and also I can add that doesnt change nothing for our survability.
We need survability and mobility coming from weapon skills, to be less dependent form traits.
For example, move some heal from water swap and add it to scepter 3 in water or to dagger 5, let scepter water 3 clean a condition, and other stuff like these.

Revert RTL nerf is also a good thing, and maybe focus 4 in water can be rework in an “frozen retreat” to use defensively or as mobility tool

They didn’t change cooldown or Energy cost of staff 5 or sword 2… So if you had fun before, and I had a lot with rev, you will still have fun after the nerf since they doesn’t change the way you play it.
Revenant will still be a strong pick, since it still has very good cc, very good mobility, very good damage and very good hard mitigation.

In PvE though, you’re essentially only swapping to Staff to break so on-swap condition sigils probably aren’t appropriate. I actually think it’s not a bad idea to bring a Berserker Staff with Force or Air plus Paralyzation. Might look into generosity though.

I get what you’re saying about Torment and Poison but think back to the Necromancer. Until recently the powerhouse condition build. They relied primarily on Bleed and Poison and while, I know that Epidemic played a large part in their success, their individual condition dps was still very high so I think there is a precedent there. If this suggestion was to be taken on, I think it would just depend on the degree of how much Poison application is added. It does stack in intensity after all and it’s not like PvE mobs are in the habit of clearing conditions.

So I’m just wondering are the build/skills broken?

No they aren’t.

When (and even before) GW2 came out, I remember the hype about how the skills are so varied, and traits are so different that you can play GW2 any way that you want.

And it turned out that wasn’t that great a thing. When evaluated, the 600 different permutations had 300 really bad one and several thousand people had rolled those, giving them not only just a sub-optimal experience but a really, really bad one.

However, you can’t play anyway that you want.
There are some builds that just don’t work. Some traits and skills that are, quite frankly pointless.

Under the new system there aren’t builds that “just don’t work”. If they didn’t work you wouldn’t be able to create them, log in as them and play the game on them. Have you got any examples of what you mean and in which game type?

There are even some players, where all I see is the metabuild running everywhere.

And? Not sure what your point is. Players using meta builds? Surely this is a good thing? Only some players but you see them everywhere? Are you talking about guildies?

unless you run the metabuild, you don’t seem to be able to keep up, to participate as much, and be as effective.

Keep up with whom? You may not do as much damage with a non-meta build or not heal as much but you should be able to keep up by pressing the forward button. Participation is on the 1 button and effectivenes.. well that’s the definition of the meta build. The most effective one. So this is a tautology.

Instead of answering this guy’s question, you just confused him by spitting random opinions at him and avoiding his actual questions. I’d rather you didn’t respond to any future questions in the manner that you answered this one.

1. Yes, a lot of builds are broken – and by broken, I mean they just don’t work well enough to be viable. Builds that, logically, should be viable are not. This is coming from an experienced GW1 player that made builds of his own for years.

2. Berserker is the only viable build (outside raids) and will always be the only viable build in PvE. That shows you right there how broken the mechanics are. There are tons of different armor types, yet choosing any armor aside from Berserker gear produces sub-par results.

3. I really don’t understand how someone can defend the mechanics and say, “Oh, it isn’t broken”, when players use berserker gear and only berserker gear. If it were meant to be so, there wouldn’t be other armor options. So, both the builds and the armor system are broken, yes.

Every build is viable in open pve. For fractal and raids there are build that are more efficent, since it means they use best sinergy of traits + gear stat+ weapon set+ utility skills. They are called metabuild. Some classes also have more than One metabuild. Warrior has 2, elementalist has even 3.
I never played gw1 but the fact you made “your own builds” means nothing.
If I make my own build for my elementalist to do raids and I get carried from my mates that doesn’t mean I will can write a post in gw3 forum to complain about the fact that “in gw2 I could made my own build”.

Marauder, zealot, viper, sinister, cleric, magi are stats combination very viable. Most of them are also in metabuild. So I don’t see your point when you say that berserker is the only viable stat. Maybe 1 year ago it was.

Please show me a build that is not viable for you but for your logic it should be.

In every patch we had since raid release the balancing of skills and trait is 90% focus in PvE and 10% on pvp with really soft impact on it.

It has always been like this, it’s not something changed with the introduction of raids.

You are wrong. Before HoT mostly elementalist Nerf/buff (since we are in ele subforum) were pvp focused.
Icebow4 and FGS4 are exceptions obviously

It’s really seems like as only an aura. Only good thing is shocking aura as counter for a stealth enemy’s opener. If you use it while you are spiked from enemy burst you simply die without any difference. And if you use it for help a team mate focused its a waste of time because with the delay and the low heal It’s really better swap into water near him for heal him up. The few time i play Ele now, because now I have really more fun with other classe, i slot fgs….

Heya everyone!

I’ve already made new dps tests and overall the Ele has lost ~10% damage as both, Staff and DW Ele. Ele still remains the top of the top against large hitboxes but has been kicked from the throne against small hitboxes.


Those are the realistic (2 stacks gotl, no empowerment, no necro, no rev, 8% and 6+4% food) dps numbers for the highest dpsers right now:

Staff Ele, large hitbox: 28.0k / 33.6k with Alacrity (-9.5% dmg after patch)
DW Ele, small hitbox: 23.6k / 26.0k with Alacrity (-10.1% dmg after patch)
Condi Engi: 25.5k / 28.4k with Alacrity (+2.9% dmg after patch)
Power Engi: 25.8k / 27.2k with Alacrity (a bit more than +0% dmg after patch)
Power Thief: 26.2k / 26.4k with Alacrity (-3.1% dmg after patch)


  • Don’t forget that Air Overload still grants 5 allies a damage skill, resulting into ~150-200 dps per target. So you can add ~600-800 dps to the DW Ele.
  • If you play with a Rev (usually small hitboxes) you can add ~4.5% to all these professions except for Condi Engi, there it’s rather around ~1%.
  • I didn’t yet test condi Thief, may be a thing due to the recent buffs.
  • Condi Necro requires 270-400s of combat to summon enough Minions to reach the 26k dps mark and the same time again to make up for the until then not dealt dps. However this variies greatly depending on Alacrity and most of all Epidemic.

Adding tournaments and events will not ever solve the problem. You can’t force a scene to develop – it is something that DOES develop when the game is really fun to play and watch.

GW2 has grown less and less fun to play, and even harder to watch over time. There was a time when combat was much more clear than previously, and was based more on reaction to your opponents animations. This was why people asked for standard models, because dodging important animations from an asura was nearly impossible. With the power-creep of HoT, not only has the combat in general gotten less fun it grows more spammy and skill-rotation based, but classes have become much less diverse thanks to superiority of elite specs. Pre-HoT, the biggest problem with combat was the variety of powerful, passive procs leading to unavoidable bursts and skills that gave both offense AND defense simultaneously. HoT took these passives and dual-skills and cranked them up to 11, both making combat much less fun but also destroying builds that couldn’t utilize their elite spec’s forms of passives.

I would prefere 100x times to pay to play the game like it was 1 or 2 years ago than pay for another expansion pac.
Every balance patch they made just added more passive procs making the gameplay everytime less clean.
And it is not only a passive procs problem but there also too much AoE in this game.
HoT pushed on steroids both AoE and passives, not mention the crazy ammount of both condi aplication and cleans, damage output and mitigation.
So for me, the pvp in this game is died when HoT was released.

WTB a time’s machine to play the game as it was some years ago.

ele and engi are basicaly desinged as hybrids ….
But what we sugest are buffs to unused things to make a more damage oriented ele possible by giving up a chunk of its support (r.g. regeneration on aura traded for shout cooldown with might and weakness) Which will lead to more offense instead of regen and vigor. I am even not shure if this will change anything in the meata and bunker will stay only top meta, but it will open a window to try something not pure aurabot.

Problem is the support on ele is mostly related to self-sustain through boons and healing, you can’t really lose support without losing sustain in the process

If I’d have to rank our traitlines from 1 to 6, best to worst :

1) Water
2) Tempest
3) Arcana
4) Air
5) Earth
6) Fire

Air is without doubt our best dps line, moderately good traits from adept to master with a valid choice of GM and master

Earth is number #4?? Wat. Without earth 50% of the builds don’t even work. If you ask me, Earth is below Tempest, then Air, then Arcana. Fire is crap yeah.

Im coloe blind and i have a lot of problem in this raid for this reason.
Well at least if you split in groups for do the color bosses you can at least follow your mates. And they spawn always in the same place. But with 10people attacking the boss i really can’t see the seekers and before realized the TP attack from the boss has an audio i had been teleported every time lol.

p.s.: and i can’t understand if a person is typing in squad chat or in say chat

To honest Fa Ele has already very good ways to self heal… what does it lack is damage mitigation or more mobility

And I mean the Singularity. Wow. When I leave an attunement I REALLY like the fact I can’t use it for 20 seconds. It really encourages me to try the other attunements like sitting in Water Attunement for a long time or Earth Attunement for a long time and really pushes me to enjoy those kinds of Attunements that I normally wouldn’t.

So they will loose people actually because no one wamts to farm and spent hours leveling crafting after 5years of game. I surely never did and might just leave since ascended gear isore for the players with more time on their hand.

You can reach 500 lv with few minutes following a guide and minimize the prize

I saw those guides u speak of and none of them takes less than at least a few hours having to buy stuff and follow the steps. But link me the one u say just takes few minutes if that is true.

Just an example… There are tons of them Everwhere. Maybe they will take more then few minutes but surely less then 1 hour for each profession.
I mean less of One hour (half an hour if you are fast)+ around 20/30gold (depending of profession) to gain archivements (25point if I’m not wrong) + 500lv profession is really worth.

Also even if your are a casual player (I am) and you are here since the game came out I can’t belive that you already dont have 1 or 2 set of ascended amror + weapon.

Why u all think that it will affect the skills your allies are using? For me its really more natural think the shout will affect the skills AFTER u had cast it. If it is not like this, arenanet srsly need to make it work in this way.
In this way u can even coordinate that without TS. A buff icon that say you that next skill u use will have CD reduced will be welcome.

I really think it has a lot of potential, at least in pvp. Surely 50% CD reduction would be really better

hm? mostly they buffed it. Arc lightning got up, lots of cooldowns went down. The overload air nerf was the only thing. And I can see why they did it. It was kind of overpowered.

arc lightening is useless, you stack condy to make sceptre dps viable not power. glad they killed off fresh air – horrible gimmicky build that forced you to constantly swap back in to air.

im sorry you are all going on about how meteor shower was nerfed, exactly how was it nerfed? ive noticed no change in it.

Basically it hit half of the time with meteors. Before the patch i could hit 24 times the same target with the best RNG possibile and with an enemy with big hitbox.
Now the maximun hit it can land is 12 with the best RNG and on a large target hitbox.

I feel like most people had a good laugh watching that video…If you did not…Well your probably sitting on a long sharp object and might wanna hop off before you read this next comment. L2 joke bro / L2 laugh a bit bro / L2 unclinch them cheeks bro, they seem pretty tense.

Joking or not you just cried the whole time pushing out negative judgment about the future of revenant and then you complained about the fact people are telling you that revenant will be fine.
In italy we say something like “you throw the rock then you try to hide the hand”.
