Zerker nerfed, allow us to swap asc gear

Fix the content not the gear.

This nerf changes nothing

+1 indeed

No, fix the grind, not the gear.

Why do people wear zerker anyway? To clear dungeons fast. Why do we clear dungeons fast? To make money as quick as possible. Why do we so that? Because we need to grind for absurd material requirements to craft Ascended and Legendary gear.

Stop making us grind, and the speed run culture will probably stop.

Might be too late now, though.

I’m pretty sure that some of the speed runners like speed running because they like pushing the envelope, not because they’re grinding. Your point is valid for you but probably doesn’t apply universally.

Majority of speed-runners do it for the fun of getting new records or they find it fun just to do dungeons as efficiently as possible.

Funny thing how every1 here are disappointed in Gw2 but are still here commenting and playing the game.I got disappointed in WOW 6 years ago and since then i never log in,never went on blizzard forums and never even watched any of WOW videos on youtube except some expansion patch trailers.

For me its because i loved gw1 so much and i so desperately want to enjoy gw2. The game has a TON of potential but its just ruined more and more by STUPID decisions. Guess its just me hoping…. Though i should have probably learned my lesson by now. I have been waiting for a real successor to halo 2/3 for about 7 years now :/

Significant Dungeon Change - A New Game!

How about they just make the dungeon like they were in gw1?

- Entrance Fee
- Party is kicked from dungeon is everyone dies
- A unique reward to each dungeon path (or set like the TA aether path)
- No more of this daily kitten. If i want to run Arah p2 all day, why kill the rewards?!’
- HM! That doesnt mean give bosses more health anet! IMPROVE THE FREAKING AI!

I feel that the game is trash, grindy and lacks things to do.

I have literally stopped playing the game and the only thing’s I do is a dungeon here and there, my daily and MAYBE a fractal at best and that’s it.

What the game lacks:

- Permanent content, this is the most obvious. “Living” Story becomes a Dead Story after 24hrs.

- Lack of PvP game types, only 1 game type, GW1 had at least 4 modes, E-Sport my eye, nice joke.

- Unique items: In GW1 almost every dungeon had a unique weapon tied to it, which gave me a reason to do those dungeons, in GW2 no matter which dungeon you do, drops are almost all the same, something such as a “treasure hunt” doesn’t exist.

- Challenge, I mean what the hell, in GW1 if you died in FoW or UW it’s game over, in dungeons HM if you are careless it would have taken some skill to finish. I want some challenge in the game.

- Variety, After over 1 year playing the game I’ve done pretty much everything there’s to do. What’s the point of doing events like a robot? Doing dungeon paths and once you’re done it’s worthless to repeat. Living stories aren’t engaging and they are pretty much same content as the previous one with a different skin.

The game is stagnated because there’s too much focus on what ANet wants: money and almost nothing of what players want: more significant content.

This this this this. Did i mention this? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

But if the datamined VIP membership is indeed implemented, I’m quitting for good.

I dont really understand this. That vip membership thing wouldnt change gameplay at all and it wouldnt keep you content gated. If anything it would pump more money into anet/ncsofts pocket. Which in turn may benefit the playerbase.

The game has so much potential, from the absolute stunning world to the active combat. The problem is Anet refuses to use it to its full potential.

- The AI is way to dumb for the type of active combat the game provides
- No new areas except an southsun
- Exploits/bugs in all the “hard” content, if you can even call it hard….
- The LS’s story. Was it written for a 5 year old?
- NOTHING IS PERMANENT
- Failure to give the community a final verdict on where they are going with the game (LS forever or boxed expansions) FIGURE IT OUT!
- Failure to adress the dungeon/fractal community at all (1 post on the fractured forums and no posts on the dungeon forum for MONTHS ALMOST A YEAR)
- Everything is time gated. STOPPPPPPPPPPP

This is just off the top of my head and only on the PvE side of things. Not a pvper but from what ive heard it isnt in a much better state. Wasnt it supposed to be MLG? LOL

Zerker gear is not the problem.

Poor dungeon and combat design is the problem.

How do you fix it?
You don’t! At some point during the development cycle, someone decided that the bosses in Guild Wars 2 should be no more challenging than a boss from Mega Man 2.

This.

My word is, boring. There has been very little permanent content that has been added since launch and Anet refuses to address the issue of the lack of difficult content.

Every LS update is just a Zerg fest for ap hunters and ways for them to add more crap to the gem store.

And dont even get me started about the storyline/lore of the LS. Does anet think 5 year olds play the game? I mean comon! Half of me wants them to build off lore from gw1 but the other half of me doesnt want them to touch it and ruin it. Its why i voted for the Thaumanova Reactor and not Abaddon Fractal.

This is the problem with not having soft trinity (like gw1) or having a full trinity (like wow). Without a trinity its just a dps race. You can change it up all you want but in the end the best players will be running with the gear that puts out the most damage.

Haha, I’m not one of those people that sends hate messages over a forum. But I have played a Ranger since Guild Wars 1 and have experimented with many, many builds for years. I basically studied Rangers in Guild Wars 1 and I continued that obsession in Guild Wars 2, but couldn’t get the same effect as I did in GW1. I found that the Ranger’s damage is the second worst in the game, only above Engineers. But opinions are opinions.

Actually when played in their max dps meta builds, rangers have the third-highest dps of all, mesmers being the worst.

I like having the zerkers yelling at me as they are laying on the ground dead, as I take the boss down. It just feels so good when they tell me I am gimping them after they die.
you want challenge, run a balanced build and play the game instead of zerking all challenge out the window.

You are gimping the team. Chances are you slowed down the kill so much that the team had to face tank more kitten then it should have so they died.

AH players barely puts out more damage then a dead player. So there is really no difference between you and the players on the ground. Also, by the sound of it your pugging, so dont expect good players.

Effeciency is key. If anet would actually make instanced content that required something else besides zerk gear then people would switch it up, but how it stands now its so easy you can do it in zerker gear. Honestly no gear is required for dungeons to the very talented.

that’s how pve generally works for every game. once you’ve committed the scripted fight to memory it’s cake.

^ This mostly, there’s still room for improvement to bosses, monsters and fight mechanics in general but let’s be honest… nothing really stays kittence you know how to counter it. one shot AoE field around a boss? 2 sec wait into a dodge roll and keep on nuking lads. Harpies causing you problems son? Take out the anti projectiles!

So what is it that creates challenge if not the timing of dodge rolls or specific counter mechanics like anti projectiles? Synergy between classes? Banners, FGJ, frost spirit, spotter, fire field stacking etc. etc. is commonly used synergy. Sure this is all offensive stacking but having to do defensive stacking would actually make the content even easier: stack protection, frost aura, toughness traits and water field healing spam. Or should we kite stack? Swiftness uptime, line of warding, (AoE) cripple/chilled, lightning fields, fears etc. Is there really more challenge here? That would create an everyone go tank/heal/kite ‘meta’. If you want the game to demand there’s one of everything we’re basically back to a pigeonholding trinity.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree, PvE feels too easy for me as well, but what actions can we perform in game that would make which content Anet could throw at us challenging?
Is fotm not loaded with mechanics that are really challenging the first time you see them? In other games with difficult PvE content it’s often because they throw a lot of slightly different alterations at you. Combine that with continuous gear progression and you have a game that feels really hard initially but becomes more manageable in a controllable time span.

There is even less room for challenging content in world exploring since the ways to counter this is even harder without homogenizing the classes or setting demanding a certain gear standard. Another way to create difficulty in mmo’s/rpg’s is to have health/resources not regenerate and use different abilities or items to close this gap (think of potion spamming or resting in between combat). There is also the unforgiving way that we experience in super adventure box hardmode: execute a sequence perfectly or try again. Many of the more oldskool games that people call hard or challenging fall in this category.

Soooo, how would you like to see GW2 become more challenging in a sensible matter?

Simple. Instanced hardcore permanent content that rewards you. Bring back UW, FoW and DoA. Or make up 3 new places. Idc. As long as its hard and only a small percentage of the community can actually do it.

Rewards are extremely important as well. Risk vs. Rewards in gw2 is so broken though i doubt they would ever get it right.

The sold out. Plain and simple. They decided to please the easily entertained/mass audience over keeping true to their core player-base that built the game up from the beginning.

Its fine. Its pretty much expected that a developer will sell out after there first game. They are not the first (by a long shot) to do so.

They sold out to a larger audience? Sure. I agree.

Should they have? That’s the big question. Did they HAVE to “go big?” Would NCSoft have allowed them to remain in the niche they carved for themselves? Who made that call and why?

Personally, I saw a company try to redefine the MMO genre, change the way people play MMOs… and that larger market pretty much rejected the concept whole cloth… like it had done for EVERY challenge to the way they had grown accustomed to.

At that point, with you already “all-in” with GW2… what would you do? Would you honestly let the game flounder and eventually fail out of the principle of the thing?

No i agree. Though they didnt re-define the way people play mmo’s. Thats just a load of bs.

rjnemer.7816

That can work both ways, attracting people that played GW1 and keeping away people that did not like GW1 that much.

A game that does not follow the original in design, should really have a different name.

I’ll be sure to let every game series know they shouldn’t be considered a series, then.

EVERY series of games remakes themselves to some degree (the degree of which varies; Call of Duty for example has a very slow change over time, whereas the Final Fantasy series can and will drastically re-imagine the design from game to game).

It’s fine to be disappointed by GW2, but making up poor arguments is not a particularly sound way to express that disappointment.

The sold out. Plain and simple. They decided to please the easily entertained/mass audience over keeping true to their core player-base that built the game up from the beginning.

Because Gw1 is old and dated. Yes i still enjoy it way more then gw2 but i have moved on. Its just depressing to see your favorite game go in the totally opposite direction you expected it too.

Then again it was probably always a false hope. After a companies first game they usually sell out.

gw1: Get someone to run to the end (for a small fee, equivalent to about 1g in gw2 money), infuse your entire armor.
gw2: Spend 9128391718912371 gold.

LOL, So far ive PROFITED off getting to 460 Armorcrafting. Spent 21g to get to 450 then i have been selling my daily for 15-20g (its down to 10 now). Once everything has stabilized in 2 weeks or so ill make my armor.

There is no need for ascended armor unless your doing fotm 50 dailies (im still at 41) or going for a new speed clear record.

I’ve had good luck with 49 daily so far, as I’ve gotten 2 and my past two parties have had at least 3 people get them.

Yeah well the chances of getting a zojja box on top of the chance of getting the actually box itself are sooo slim….

Maybe… they should improve their design team?

I agree with this 100%. It is sad that everyone is asking for Guild Wars 1 Skins so badly because of the lack of quality coming form Gw2 Skins.

If they were going to make fractals give ascended armor, I’d guess that they would add another currency to it (probably only available at 30/50+), rather than allow you to use an old one. They don’t want you to have it all on patch day.

I dont think it would matter. I know a couple of people with a ton of gold saved up along with all the ascended ores needed to craft 10-12 pieces of armor as long as the formula doesnt change to much.

Not only that but i would expect a chest piece to cost 1500 relics + 10 pristines minimum.

Using fractal relics and pristine relics to buy ascended armor pieces would be cool. You know, since its the ONLY place in gw2 where ascended is REQUIRED.

But then it’s yet another currency grind to get your items. It’s already all currency grind, mainly gold but always currency.

Just give the option to really go for specific items. Some can drop from quest (well if they would have quest in this game) some from a dungeon, some from a mob, some from a boss and so on. In that way you can work towards your item in a more fun way in stead of farming for a currency to get it.

I already have thousands of relics and almost a hundred pristine’s with NOTHING to spend them on. I also do not find doing fractals grindy. I find them fun.

Besides, if you were to put it in dungeons that would require a TON of tokens (which goes against what you just said) and if you put it in drop tables then its all RNG. No one likes rng.

Also, you cant “work towards” anything if its all rng based. When you say “work towards” its going to be a grind to an extent. It just depends on if you enjoy that content or not.

Exotic Armor = Dungeon Tokens + Crafting + Rng Drops
Ascended armor = Relics + Crafting + Rng Drops

It only makes sense.

Spoiler: there was always a rare chance to get them in the 10-20ish. The only change we made was to make them skins so you can apply them without spending a transmutation stone.

Thank You Based Arenanet.

Question: Are we going to get a table on the gold rewards?

Honestly id start saving everything you get from Fotm. I have a hunch that ascended armor will be tied to it.

Importance of End Game (scale 1-10)

It is important to keep in mind that GW1 had almost no end game. Sure there were random arena, underworld and FoW. But those are not great end game by any measure.

In GW1 the end game was starting an alt character. It was so alt friendly that I had 9 characters. Many other players I know had more. It took players hours to plan out their character. They have to pick the skills. They have to set the traits. They had to equip the character and get skins for them. But at the same time, those tasks are fairly easy so no one feels it is a grind at all.

GW2 is not alt friendly at all. It takes forever to max one character’s equipments. That’s the core of the problem. I explained this in great details in this thread here.

Gw1 had no endgame? You sure we were playing the same game? If my memory servers me correctly gw1’s endgame was the best ive ever played. The amount of elite dungeons with the addicting rewards system kept me playing the game for YEARS.

If only Gw2 had even half as good endgame as Gw1

Skins that have a chance to drop from bosses?

Ive posted about this idea plenty of times before. Its what made Gw1 dungeons so addicting. That small chance of getting a super sick skin that was worth a lot of gold that you could keep or sell ALONG with a guaranteed gold reward.

They can add all the fractals they want but it will still be a waste of time if they do not improve the rewards.

RISK VS. REWARD. Fix it Anet. This Time vs. Reward kitten you have going on needs to stop.
