game has strange lag/delay issue since Sunday
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Morrigan.2809
Hi guys
I am not sure where to put this but since Sunday I have experienced very strange lag/delay (mind you calling it lag for want of a better word)
This is not like usual skill lag you get with a zerg of 300 or so people were your skills freeze up for a moment and then just jump and unload at once.
But rather a constant delay on all my skills- like a 2-4 second delay.
This makes fighting impossible due to being unable to time my skills.
I have also noticed a slight pause just in my movement and other players seem to be behaving oddly- some rubber-banding, some jerking etc.
I have never had any problems whatsoever.
Nothing on my end has changed.
Any idea what I could do or what the problem is?
All help much appreciated
ORGH The amount of whine and WOE is me is over the top.
Everybody sit down and relax this is what we know.
1. There different events that have different difficulties and need for numbers. Bounty was a Multi-zone event so chance’s are you will need to be in a BIG guild for it to work.
2. The different events size might coincide with different levels of the tree. A 5 man event will need tier 1 and 20 man event needs tier 5.
3. There is no talk about it only being in the Art of War tree. Only that the Bounty one will be in that tree.
4. It is something to work towards. It is a thing that will take effort and planning from your guild. IT is not meant to be a easy way for you to get loot. Yes your 2 man guild will have a hard time doing things and that is why there is the multi-guild function.
5. It is a very short passage so keep your impotent nerd rage in check until we actually know the entire picture and stop being so dam reactionary.
6. The people complaining about having to go into the wvw tree when they don’t wvw. I have to do kitten Dungeons for my monthly and Fractals for ascended gear.
IN the end relax and let’s see what happens before you blow the top of your head off in pure anger.
Colin: It’s really spread out all over the game and it depends on which type of mission you’re doing. There are actually five completely different types of missions and based on which one it is – bounty hunts, for example, is the really basic one, that’s the one that you can get right off the bat when [February’s] release first goes out. You actually have to unlock all the other missions types, so it’s literally going to take months for your guild to build up enough influence to unlock all of them. It’s really a progression here, […] it’s on the whole unlock tree just like any of the other guild abilities, so you make your way down all that stuff and you’ll use influence to kick off missions as well. So, finally, you’ll have a use for that giant pile of influence. Some guilds are probably going to tear through really quickly cause they’ve got huge piles of it but it is going to take a while. With bounty hunts, you can pick which tier of bounty hunts you go on and it randomly generates bosses in different zones that get spawned because the bounty hunt started and it spreads your guild out all over the place. If you do a really big bounty hunt it will actually spread your guild across five different zones, where there is a boss in each and you have, say, 15 minutes to kill all five of them. So, you actually have to split your guild into five different groups and send them to all the maps and find them to take them out.
1 There are different levels of bounty hunts yes, and big bounty hunts are for big guilds- read the bolded part- AoW 5 is not right of the bat by any stretch.
2 We hope so- so far it doesn’t really look like that if the most basic mission requires AoW 5
4 No one as far as I know has a problem with having something to work towards. The problem is rather that it leaves the small guilds in a position where they have to use what influence they have on stuff that does not benefit them at all just to have access to content. This is wastefull and makes no sense.
5 as far as I can see these are legitimate concerns not nerdrage.
6 I don’t like that either that is why I do not do a monthly- however you are not required to spend influence gained over time to complete or not to complete a monthly, you either do so or not. This has nothing to do with this discussion.

Please no player reps or middle management or whatever you want to call it.
If I player wants to contribute to CDI- great, if not great, it just means that you are not contributing.
The last thing I want is some faceless class prefect speaking for me.
I am quite capable of that myself thanks
@Araris.7839 exactly what u said.
“don’t want to look bad or like a coward when someone asks them to duel and they decline”
Is the only reason they dont want this system.
Or is there another reason? please let us know, because is unfair that we dont have the oportunity to fight with our friends with our pve gear just to have fun because of you.
I dont see how this will affect any person, a easy to add a option to decline automatically any duel.
Ohh I will look bad if I decline?
hahahaha! that is the kind of argument I expect when my 6 year old dares me
It is unfair that you come to my game and demand a feature that goes against all PvE design choices just because you want it
I can just decline- exactly how many times in 5 min would you like me to do that?
How do you want anyone to actually PvE with a bunch of “I want to duel you dude” spam going when you are trying to play " what you too bad kitten? coward"
Yes no thanks
@ OP use the search button next time

I don’t think that LS is off putting to new players.
Actually I think it is the opposite- they get the whole game and the assurance that there will always be new things to see.
For old players LS is a mix- some really really like it and I have some friends who came back to the game because of LS.
I think it is mostly the more “hardcore” or people that play long hours per day crowd that do not like LS because the updates are mostly easily and quickly completed. For more casual players that is mostly not an issue from what I see.
I am mildly curious about the PAX announcement.
I think this Tuesday’s patch is the first one that I am not looking forward to- even if it is the SAB.
I think I’ll just take the two weeks off do do some stuff I’ve been missing.
Like world completion on my Ranger and playing with my friend, leveling a new character.
Running some DE’s, poking my head in caves and falling off some cliffs
In other words just regular stuff.
But you have the right arrow there at the second panel. What happens when you click it?
You seem to be missing 2 faces not just one.
hahaha omg I feel like such an idiot.
yes there is another arrow- I swear it did nothing before, today I have another panel.
I plead insanity since lack of coffee cannot explain how I missed this for an entire day.
Thanks everyone for your help and now I will just slink off into a corner and go face-palm myself
Your suggestion is exactly what I was envisioning.
“We have the resources to go in these directions. Which does the community prefer?”
And then you have nobody that can claim that the developer isn’t holding true to the players wishes.
The problem we run into is when it’s a close vote. Something like a Presidential vote where one candidate gets 55% of the vote and the other gets 45%. I don’t think a content decision coming down that close should be acted on just because it barely won. This is about everyone’s entertainment, not the side that just barely has more people voting for it.
this is why i think the beta pop-up would work so well.
For anyone who doesn’t know, it was basically a rating from 1-5, with a series of questions e.g.
was this fun
how would you rate the difficulty
did you feel like you contributed
how much do you feel you have impacted the world
etc with a little box at the end where you could add comments
This way you can get a good idea of how the players actually view the content and make decisions accordingly or not if people are basically split about it.
ps: the questions aren’t accurate I basically paraphrased them from memory

Why is this even in game? Love trolling players that much? Have things really devolved so badly?
They have been warning people away from their city since launch.
at the moment there is a war on their doorstep.
They have never been exactly friendly- what did you expect they would do.
As for why it is in they game, because it makes sense?
If any thing I think it is a really nice reminder from Anet, considering the amount of “oh the Tengu will open their doors” threads on the forums recently
No matter that the Guild Masters were negligent, it is a horrible thing to do- the amount is of no consequence.
If it was me I would not only report both of them I would give them a piece of my mind in RL, just before I tell them not to let the door hit them on the way out.
@ mexay-suggesting in the post above that if a stranger gave you his bank pin, you might be tempted to abuse it- all I can say is O-O.
You have the obligation to behave like a human being, after all they just bought you lunch and trusted you with their info.
Yay, I am so happy for this.
It was really irritating that my PvE skills were continually readjusted just because people don’t like Mesmers in PvP.
Keeping the skills separate can only be good for all the professions.
Good Job Arena Net and Thank you.
The amount of testosterone flying around this thread is astonishing.
OP there are hundreds of games out there that you can play and with enough drama and ganking for even you.
I’m tired just reading about what you want- thank the six GW2 is not that game.
I’m not saying the game is perfect, and I appreciate constructive criticism where its valid and rationally debated, but if a game really grieved me as much as people claim GW2 does, then I just stop playing and find something else to do with my time. Is that not the normal thing to do?
Yes that is the normal thing to do.
For some reason I have yet to understand GW2 forums seems to attract a bunch of people who no longer play and feel compelled to tell the world how bad the game is and that people who do like it are blind fanboys.
I love the game but I can really only handle the forum in small doses
So you don’t want to experience great content just in case you can make a couple of silver?
How is that logical?
Sounds to me like you are sore because you voted and didn’t sell your tokens.
Funny…I was just thinking this morning how maybe Scarlet had ‘planned all this to happen’ and actually used the ley lines to take control of a dragon’s body. We know it’s possible, seeing how Snaff did it.
It would be the worst thing that could possibly happen to the story of course. Just imagine an elder dragon with Scarlet’s personality and voice.
Yuck.
oh wow!
I am still digesting that possibility
To listen to you guys talk, you’d think the engineer doesn’t even have weapon skills. I guess it’s “kits or go home”? An engineer not seeing his Legendary while in kits is no different than any other profession not seeing Legendary while weapon swapping to something else. You guys really are making a big deal of nothing.
Except for Ele, Engineers are the only class who do not have weapon swap.
We have exactly 3 weapons to choose from.
Ele’s have many more that, they generally rely on attunement swaps not conjured weapons as a class mechanic.
Engineers rely on either kits/ nets to augment their weapons- Actually most engineers hardly use their weapons- this is the class mechanic much like attunements for Ele’s.
Weapon swapping classes are more than free to craft a legendary for both sets. I am sure many have.
I guess you don’t play an Engineer much?

0/10
I couldn’t care less about endgame as understood in most MMO’s
Usually that is when I get bored.
In GW2 I have found my almost perfect endgame- where the whole game is endgame.
I just have fun doing whatever
They tried to cater to both kinds of players in this patch.
The balloons, the zerg downstairs in the pavilion, not to mention the champ loot for the casual players and the Gauntlet for people who want to try their skill.
They even separated the achievements in two categories so that the one is not dependent on the other.
That was a very good direction to take with the Living Story
Honestly I don’t know what people want anymore
heats are not quests- they were added late in development because people didn’t understand Dynamic events.
The point of hearts are to keep you in the area long enough for the Dynamic event to go off.
That is why they do not really give rewards as such. They are useful as shops when you level though
I actually achieved satori simply by abandoning the need to monitor and control others gaming habits.
This,
You really made me smile.
I know there are people running in circles in this game trying to get stuff over and over.
Personally I have never gotten it and never will.
As long as they are polite to other players, I don’t care what they do.
There are some people playing the game as a game for fun- I just hang out with them instead.
Geez people didn’t your parent teach you to say thank you?
There is nothing wrong with acknowledging something you like just as there is nothing wrong about saying why you do not like something.
Falling on someone who does the first make you look like a bunch of piranhas.
I haven’t been in the game yet to see the patch but based on forum reactions so far I can’t wait.
OP I love how everyone and his dog are currently quoting Dontain as if he is some authority- he took some info- made his own conclusions that is based on nothing but his own opinion and uses it to promote his own channel.
I can make up my own mind about the game. I don’t think it is perfect and I try and be as constructive as I can when I make suggestions on what i think needs to change.
I love GW2 and I have had and am having so much fun playing it.
Anet has done so much since this game launched to make it into a great game and I appreciate that, I really do.
I am also patient and I am willing to wait for thing to evolve as they will.
So sad, I can’t purchase the wintersday outfits from last year.. SOB!
you can- they are up in the store now
My opinion is:
Why we have a profanity Filter in 1st place? im no ok whit this kind of ban, I know Bad words have to be maybe infracted, But IP banned? i think is to much. Also is no good for Anet’s popularity.
Yet it creates a pleasant in game experience because people can read map-chat without having to scroll through potty mouth spam.
Filter /= license

let’s dissect this statement(s) a bit.
Engineers want legendary kits because they … want them. I want legendary weapons, because I want them, too.
Elementalists don’t use their weapon summons, but Engineers use their kits. How about we nerf each Engineer weapon kits to 50% of the current strength. Then you don’t use them >80% anymore and everyone is happy.
Just because you WANT to use them, don’t expect the system to bend towards your desire. Just becuase elementalists USUALLY don’t focus on weapon summons, doesn’t mean they can’t. They’re multiple traits which favor such builds. Even supporting the party – unlike engineers.Engineer only has two weapons. Since YOU don’t like the shield. Elementalist only has two weapon sets, since I don’t like dagger and focus.
Engineer has three weapons and seven kits.
Elementalist has four weapons and five summoned weapons (not counting tornado ulti).Seriously, I see no reason to favor engineers’ kits over elementalists summoned weapons. Or even secondary weaponsets from other classes.
Why not equalize those dual hand weapons with two handed wearers? Make only main hand legendary-able and the offhand automatically becomes legendary, too ?
What? I read that twice..?
All we are asking is for the same choices everyone else has.
Is that so hard to understand?
I guess so.
Raids do not make events epic.
Frodo and Sam saved middle earth and it was just the 2 of them. THAT was Epic.
Yes!!! thank you
Also to the person up thread who said the fact that you do not have raid progression attracted them to this game.
I cannot agree more, the things that attracted me to GW2 would be what separates it from the way other MMO’s operate.
I despise what MMo’s have become and raids have a lot to do with that whole – gear, cooler gear exclusion, commitment or you are out idea.
I have a kid that I like to spend time with, I also love GW2- raids would ruin the game for me because it opens a horrible can of worms where if you don’t get the stuff, you can’t do the stuff.
My statement is over simplified I know but it is late and as I said. I have a five year old.
they contribute to your character by being fun :P
Toy Ventari was my first mini and I loved that I made it- I still have it on my main to this day
I want to craft the missing toy mini’s I all have my extra frames- saved them all year.
will we even be able to get more cogs?
I don’t want them to be a meta achievement.
Can’t we just have some fun stuff that is not tied to do xxx of this- meta?
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
while I would want my house to be as far away from Lions Arch as possible- I don’t want any convenience NPC’s in my house either.
We have cities for that.
As such if my house has to contain other people I would rather have it be my own alts
I want my house to be about my character- and no I do not consider the home instance my house- or even anything to do with me.
Also people have been mentioning renting and property decay and the like-
Hell no, I get enough of that kind of thing in real life
She is the queen, she can wear no shoes and underwear and get away with it :P
I can think of dozens of things that would be far more interesting than player housing. To start with: Guild Halls. Which should mean GvG, as well.
You’ve got a “home” instance if you feel like hanging out somewhere all by yourself…
I don’t think people who want player housing particularly “want a place where they can hang out all by themselves.”
I think you misunderstand what player housing is for and why it appeals to people.
Essentially the way I see it is something that is yours that you can customize to your liking, showing the spoils of your adventures etc.
It is a way for the player to invest in the game on an emotional level and gives something to do that provides a break from fighting much like the missing mini games, jumping puzzles etc.
It is also a great opportunity to make use of various crafting professions and provides opportunities for gem store content that is purely fluff.
I would also dearly love it if I didn’t have to sit in my house by myself but could invite friends
In Queensdale events are literally all over the place all of the time on my server (GH) and still you have people asking- sure you’ll get some one zoning in and asking BeHe up?
But often you have the same 2-3 people spamming chat for 20 min.
I don’t get that honestly people are linking events as fast as they go off.
It seems like some on my server either feels like Op or are just new but I loved it that the norm is now to link every event ( eda’s orchard, escort quests wheatfield you name it)
The result of this has been that you literally have a zerg of 80’s swarming a level 3 event- I don’t know whether to laugh or feel bad for new players- they must be thinking what ? just happened?
“ale ale ale,
ale makes me happy
ale makes me sing
ale makes me love everything.”
gotta love the Abbot at the monetary in Queensdale
.
I prefer the Frostgorge zerg over Queensdale any day anyway, as you are standing around doing nothing or running long ends from a wp to the champ.
People in frostgorge train are friendlier from personal experiences.
People in Frostgorge are horrible on my server.
I was just mapping Frostgorge the other day on my necro and I ran into the svarnir camp behind the Claw spawn- I was fighting for my life and I saw a player in the distance coming closer- I think yay!
When I went down he ran past me with out a glance and a couple of seconds he ran over my, by then dead body, with out a backward glance. That was when I remembered why I never set foot on that map.
you can say what you want about Queensdale train but this will never ever happen on that map
I’ve given up hope on being ressed by randoms in open world. But when I come across downed people in open world I usually res them unless I hate them or if they’re a thief (unless I’m doing world bosses then I just res everyone I can).
I have never seen this anywhere except in Frostgorge- it was that way at launch too.
Anywhere- no matter how out of the way- if you are going down and there are people nearby they will res.
I will run halfway across a map myself just to res a player
I came about this post several months ago and what I really liked about it was the fact that it expanded on the current professions but added horizontal progression-without the idea of balancing classes nightmare
Please consider something like this:
I will just quote:
Warriors > Berserker —- Legionnaire —- Duellist
Guardians > Crusader —- Augmentor —- Patron
Necromancer > Occultist —- Visionary —- Witcher
Rangers > Hunter —- Strider —- Mystic
Thiefs > Rogue —- Infiltrator —- Saboteur
Engineers > Alchemist —- Artificer —- Pioneer
Mesmers > Chronomancer —- Fencer —- Bard
Elementalists > Runologist —- Sorcerer —- Arcanist
—-NEW CLASS – 3rd Soldier—-
Lancers > Dragoon —- Templar —- Partizan >
That way players can:
progress with their characters
individualize themself better and make them more unique
unlock alot of new skills, traits, weapons ect. just through progressing with their class specific Talents that define, into which direction you specialize your character
I have been negative in the past towards champ trains because I have new friends in game and they are very baffled by the train.
On the other hand though- look at this pic- these guys are having a lot of fun and they are not harming anyone.
I did have a good laugh when the “self appointed dictator of Queensdale” told map to leave Shadow Behemoth because the train is at boar……
yay! you’ll love it- give me a PM in game if you need anything
I suggest you play attention to the actual game you are playing,
Not some you have played in the past
No one can compete with you, no one can steal your loot or “grinding spot” or kill
the game is designed around co-op in PvE.
and trash talk in map gets reported.
From what you say this game is not for you.
Edit: yup just looked up your posting history- don’t know why you are doing this really.
And you are in MARA?
on my own server no less?
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
A Mesmer is also something you can consider especially if you go GS/Staff- long range great evasive and defensive abilities and very survivable.
Mesmer is the most fun class imo- it has an interesting play dynamic and can also give some good support, crowd control.
Be aware though that a Mesmer is a bit of a late bloomer.
Does the T1 light glow? I am dying to get my sylvari to 35 and get her that set.
No it does not- at least not on my Sylvari.
was a bit disappointed actually but she looks so much better in it than Human amour that I am happy for now
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
Saving it for now. Would be nice to have an ingame house so I can hang it on a wall for display though…
That was my thought too- so it is sitting in my bank along with the rest of my sentimental collection
here is my new Ele- she is white with a light gold pattern and she glows like fire
I’ll admit that made me chuckle
but since I am not a great fan of punny names I’ll give you a 7/10
my Necro is called Elisa the Red
Elisa is Welsh for oath to god,
All I can say is:
When I see someone with a gem store skin, I think you really liked that skin to buy it.
When I see someone with an RNG skin- I think 0_0 you must have farmed your kitten off or broke the bank\
When I see someone with an achievement skin, I think – at least you were there.
I would rather just earn or buy my skins
I’ve felt this for awhile, though I still don’t quite know how to phrase it. Wondering if others might have an opinion.
As convenient as I find the waypoints all over the place, I feel like it trivializes much of the exploration we would be having without them.
I’ve suggested zones without waypoints as a way around this. Does anybody else feel the same way? Or am I romanticizing the runs from towns to far-flung locations in GW1?
Edit: should have said this originally, but all the credit to Sir Arthur for expressing my feelings better than I’ve been able to. This post was meant as a huge +1 to his.
Hi TimmyF,
I agree:
‘As convenient as I find the waypoints all over the place, I feel like it trivializes much of the exploration we would be having without them.’
Chris
Mmm I love exploring but I also have limited time- so when I am in the mood, sure I ignore way points and explore- that happens more than you would think.
I do sometimes want to maximize my time and make use of the way points I have unlocked to hit events in far flung locations though.
What I Absulotely do not want to do, is to spend my 1 hour play time running to where I want to be- I want to get there and play.
thing is I have a choice now you see?
Going to have to go with Logan Thackerayy here.
I’m partial to Logan too
I loved this event- Tequila wiped the floor with us, it was glorious
I was in on the 3rd try last night and we did abysmally.
Even so, it was great seeing people organize, making small squads and coordinating in map rather than just auto afk for 5 min.
It was fun
Please please don’t nerf it- it is awesome as it is.
This is what all dragons should be like- A threat, deadly, difficult and awesome
Edit- I actually cheered when I saw you got nothing for a fail- at last!
Who is E and what is Caithe’s secret?
What did the Pale Tree mean when she said that the Sylvari needed Ceara and that she didn’t care?
What was Ceara’s very important destiny that she turned away from?
Why did the PaleTree think she is confused about power and authority?
What the kitten you would do in your house? Sounds boring.
I would build my house .
I would mount all my slayer kitten on my walls,
I would plant stuff, because I can and I would have lace curtains because I crafted it
I would have a whole garden of minis because I am just cool that way :pBasically I would build my house to reflect my characters
Guild could build GH for GvG no?
Sure, and they should be able to- also as a meeting place to hang out set up runs, make parties and what not.
I am just not focused on GvG or Guild Housing because the guild content in this game is not made for small guilds and I have no interest in joining a big one, which is why I have my own guild.
Also Guild Houses are more about communities and their identity as a group- while I see Player Housing as an expression of the individual.
