it would be great if we could just put the guild emblem on regular armour.
Makean option to scale the size of the emblemso you can fit it onto various places like chest, arm etc
I’m armed with brownies and sheer determination it’s 2:30am, bring it.
:D
you just made my evening!
No thank you. Last thing I want is people naked 24/7.
I see that anyway- you’d be amazed how many naked people are running around Orr, don’t get me started on the naked dance parties
Op: I second your idea and I don’t even have a norn! But I have 2 Sylvari and why should they wear clothes?
I have Logitech G600 and I cannot imagine playing gW2 without it
Personally I won’t do content I don’t enjoy. I suspect though that I am in a very small minority here because from what I see in game people will crawl over hot coals for a carrot and AP. This concerns me too because I have for some time suspected that the metrics do not tell the full story. Or rather that Anet may be making conclusions about content that is less than accurate.
I didn’t particularly feel that Final Rest was ruined- I really enjoyed the hunt and I called it ages and ages ago, so I have some satisfaction in that I was right all along :P
When I dropped one a bit after the patch I was ecstatic and I kept it because it reminds me of the hunt.
I had a second one drop and I couldn’t bring myself to sell that one either and instead gave it to my husband.
More of these kind of hunts would be so awesome
Here is a crazy brainstorm idea, not in anyway indicative of our direction.
What if there was vertical progression in the Fractals with gear that increased in stats but when outside of the fractals defaulted back to BiS numbers?
I am asking this because it is going to generate some left field conversation not because I think it is or isn’t a good idea.
Chris
This would be amazing and it will also make people like me who fear that PvE difficulty will have to increase more and more to make up for bigger stats, feel a lot better.
My greatest fear is that eventually my skill will not be enough and i will be locked out of content simply because I do not have the gear.
As someone with 4 80’s and more coming this would break my heart
oh your video’s are great
I was really impressed when you guys took on the toxic event- those things are very dicey
Separate PvP, PvE and WvW achievements and rewards.
Make PvP and WvW rewards on par with PvE rewards.
Everyone gets to play how they like, no one gets the short stick and everyone is happy.
WinWin
The problem is it’s more trouble than its worth, it would get old soon, it would bring a bunch of new bugs and support tickets and at the end most people wouldn’t care about it after a couple of months.
I do not agree, the players who want housing want it because it gives you an emotional connection to the world our characters live in.
I am a hero of Tyria, I am the commander of the pact and I am homeless?
I realize there are some players who do not care for housing, but many many players do.
Housing done right can be great for the game because it can give incentive to do content, revitalize maps, crafting, trade etc etc.
it is good to sometimes just have stuff to do in game that does not involve killing x amount of mobs over and over.
If anything it will add to the longevity and stability of the player base
The China release is coming up in what…there weeks. They’re fixing some of the problems slowly but it’s been eight days since the released. 8 days.
During that time they need time for people to get used to the idea. There are times in the past where they introduced something, there was a lot of complaining and it all died down as people figured out how to get used to it.
There was a massive amount of complaining about the meta event trains on day one and two and now, most people figured out how to get to them and follow the scheduled and the number of complaints have dropped off sharply. There are still some, but nothing like what it was. It’s going to die out because most people don’t care. There are plenty of people doing the zone wide events now.
Anet needs to let the dust settle before commenting. In the mean time, there’s a major launch going on that IS taking up much of their time. There are only so many hours in a day.
And what do you really expect them to say? The megaserver is very important to them for a variety of reasons. It means less servers running over all which saves money. It solves the problem of low pop servers and even high pop servers in certain zones at certain times of day. It solves the problem to some degree of the complaints that surrounded the Marionette fight when people complained the couldn’t even get on their server. It works far better with the living world stuff they’ve been coming out with than the old system did.
It needs tweeking and I’m sure it will be tweeked. Until then, i"m not sure what people want them to say.
Because from my point of view there’s nothing they can say that won’t make it worse.
If they say get used to it, we’re not changing it…that will make it worse. And they’re not going to change it.
The only thing we can hope for is that the cities will be returned to server, insrtead of megaserver. That might happen. Or the RPers can at least be given their own chat channel.
And yet they were pretty happy about posting blog post after blog post before the patch went live.
The thing is- there are some real problems with this patch, it is not going to blow over because it is not a case of ooh I don’t like this.
The fact that they made all the feedback threads and never replied to any of them is very worrying because a lot of is address legitimate concerns.
They cannot just leave it.
The lighting speed with which they rolled out Megaserver to all maps- when they were supposed to monitor the impact- leaves me speechless- the initial roll out already highlighted some problems- common sense to me would be to address those before rolling out the rest.
China- it is not a secret that they are launching in China, they have known it for months- it is their job to allocate resources to the China launch and the rest of their game.
If it was going to be problem they should have thought about it beforehand- project management is a thing you knowBlog posts were written further out from the China live patch though. The closer they get to launch the busier they are. Do you know when those posts were written? Do you know who wrote them? Was it even developers?
Anyone can come on and post banalities, but companies need to talk with one view. It’s not like you pick up a phone and call a company. You speak to one person in a company. The response needs to be a unified company response, which means figuring out how to handle things, it means meetings, it means time.
You don’t just say the first thing out of the gate, because that’s how you really get in trouble. You may not like it, but that’s how companies have to work.
Seriously?
Yes the blogs were written by dev’s- it says by who one each blog.
I repeat- China is not news for them- allocating their resources appropriately is their job.
The rest of the game does not stop because China is releasing.
They timed the roll out of this patch not the players.
About companies- they know what their view is. Do you really think I am suggesting that 5 different people come here and post opposing things?
What?
All that is needed is for one person to come here and say-
There are issues, we know and we are looking at your feedback- some things can’t be changed but we will see how we can make everyone’s experience as good as possible.
There- it took 1 min to type and didn’t need a team of writers.
I have worked for various companies my whole adult life- I am well versed in PR speak vs internal speak.
I wasn’t around for it the first time round. Is it worth doing? Can anyone give me a link to info about it, or tell me what it was called last year so I can google it?
Thanks.
If you like jumping puzzles that are gorgeous with completely different movement skills- Bazaar is for you.
If you like farming- Queens Pavilion is for you
If you like one on one challenge Gauntlet is for youcheck it out- those were the most popular LS releases.
Without Scarlet there won’t necessarily be the endless farming on the lower levels of the pavilion that occurred last time. I hope they do something meaningful with those lower levels.
Never bothered with the lower levels myself- I was stuck in the rafters rage quitting and screaming my kid awake every time I won
lol so you want level cap raised?
I think you grossly overestimate the amount of people with Legendarys ;P
I have never seen this anywhere except in Frostgorge- it was that way at launch too.
Anywhere- no matter how out of the way- if you are going down and there are people nearby they will res.
I will run halfway across a map myself just to res a playerDo you play on yaks bend? Cause when ever I’m in frostgorge all be it for maybe 30 minutes at most I’m usually hanging out near the troll pit.
no I am on Gunnar’s Hold and for the most we have a wonderful server, I just don’t go into Frostgorge at all anymore unless it is to get Claw.
Last night a friend says to me let’s do a Temple run- I just thought- oh ok couple of people start of at Balth see how it goes.
Since I often hear it mentioned here that no one does Temples and Orr is deserted, I expected maybe 20 people
my mind was blown
now this is a zerg-
Queensdale train has nothing on this, sadly after Balthazar I gave up because my pc was a slag heap..
Third pic is earlier this week at Hydra Queen
Events scale according to how many people there are in the vicinity- if those people are standing around dueling each other it still makes it more difficult for people actually doing the events
No need to remember where the Karma vendors are:
http://dulfy.net/2012/08/28/guild-wars-2-karma-vendor-list/
It makes sense to have to travel for ingredients since not all things grow in all climates, it makes the world a bit more alive imo.
If we all had access to our own farms people would just stash everything in there and while cool would completely negate the need to harvest in the world.
I blow all my laurels on dyes too- I love it! You can never have too many dyes
you keep using the words “generic” and “placeholder” that is kind of hilarious because Roman Numerals are a thing and they serve their own purpose.
Have you actually stopped and considered that Anet chose them as a deliberate design for ease of use and communication?
no matter how loudly you repeat yourself- you are only speaking for yourself
give it up already
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
I sometimes call out the people who are abusive in chat. I never publicly call out someone who isn’t particularly skilled in play.
this
I have called people on being abusive in chat- not just this event.
I have never called someone out for failing, being new or not knowing an encounter.
We just had an amazing Marionette- not because we succeed – we failed on the last 2 chains.
It was amazing because we were grossly undermanned and we had mostly under leveled people and people who have never done the event before.
What made it amazing was that one player asked 10 minutes before hand if anyone was new- and when it turned out that almost everyone was- explained everything very clearly.
Those of us who had done the Marionette before pooled all their knowledge for the new ones and kept up the encouragement and tips throughout the whole fight.
Reminding before each champ the particular strategy- reinforcing lanes etc.
Morale was amazing and it was awesome to see new and under leveled people sever their chains and go whoop- the advice was really helpful.
It was one of the nicest Marionette fights I have been at- in the end they all could not wait to go again.
So yeah
don’t be mean to others.
If you feel harassed or verbally abused by another, the best thing you can do is report the person. There is a handy tool in-game just for this. Or, you can play with map chat off, as I do. Lol. When someone tells me I can’t do something in-game, that is allowed, I just ignore them, and go about my business. It is an open world, you can kill whatever you like. That’s my take on it, anyway. =)
That’s not the point ,at least when it comes to queeensdale. Its about first impressions and if that first impression is a bad one you’re not going to leave your first play session with a very good taste in your mouth .
I agree. Every day there seems to be more and more raging about champions in Queensdale. It really does not look good in the eyes of a new player. How could they know that the Zerg owns these mobs now. If they touch a champ at the wrong time, they will get yelled and even threatened with griefing/harrassment reports.
What a fun way to start the game. :P
It’s happening even more in Frostgorge but that does not hurt the new ones.
I agree , it makes a bad impression of the game and it teaches new player to ignore content to just farm like a mindless robot.
If you teach a player to play like that in the first couple of levels you are basically ruining the game for him- because he will miss most of it, and never learn how to play his class properly.
Telling anyone to turn off mapchat is not helpful because how are you going to get info you might need especially if you are new?
Queensdale used to be a very fun social map- since the COF path 1 crowd has been unleashed on the rest of the player base it is pretty much a place to avoid unless you feel like sticking it to the zerg.
I make a point of partying with new players every time i am in Queensdale just so I can show them that there are other things on the map
Yes well- I was glad when I read the patch notes that promised better loot drops for champs etc.
I swear after playing for the last two weeks on my alt- I will scream if I see another porous bone!
Most of the mobs give nothing, it cannot be just bad luck, it is too consistent.
I saw a yellow for the first time yesterday since the patch- I gave it to my husband.
This makes me furious and i don’t even care about loot- I just want to play the game in the world and be able to at least not make a loss!
This game will be taken in the direction that is best for China, every update from now until the game is done with will be done with China in mind, if it does not work there, it will never be put into the game, you can be the most hardcore fan of GW2 or hate it to the core, but its fact now, the Chinese have to pay to play this game, we get it for free, any update that will come to the game will have to be in the best interest of the Chinese market, NA/EU are not the primary audience anymore, not when they can make x10 as much money from the Chinese market.
There are still some game breaking bugs and bugged events/hearts that have been there since the game launched, that are still not fixed, they go ignored, there are events that spawn no enemies, no loot, no xp, that are ignored/not fixed, so either they are fixed on the Chinese game, or because they have never seen an event before hand they don’t know any different.
What I wonder is, ( im guessing ) there is a Chinese forum for this game too, do the devs ignore the playerbase over there as much as we get ignored, we seem to have a CC that doesn’t interact with the community at all, or if they do I aint seeing it.
This game has amazing art work, and still is right at the top for GFX/visuals for any game out there, but the content and other things that ruin it, they seem to determined to milk as much from that gem store as possible, yet if the players where happy they would probably be willing to spend money on gems for stuff, but all we get at the moment is, gem store, gem store, buy gems and trade for gold, gem store, sad but true.
You make me very sad but I think I have come to the same conclusion, which is why I have moved onto another game.
I check the forums to see how the wind is blowing, from what I see not in a direction I am interested in going in.
thanks GW2 for an amazing 2 years- it was fun while it lasted.
I was really happy and I bought a lot of gems- oh well……
Hence the problem with horizontal progression. Going after different “skins” is great, but you can only wear one set of armor at the time. Eventually you’re going to settle on what you like, and then what? There’s nothing else to do on a character.
Except play the whole of the game?
just a suggestion
Are you suggesting that there are no difference between 0 in a trait line and grandmaster trait?
have you played a mesmer I wonder?
Concurrency means that is how many people are logging in at the same time- the game spans NA and EU those people do not play at the same time- it does not mean that less than 500k people play the game, sorry to burst your bubble there.
In fact those figures are pretty good, regardless of how accurate they are
yes please
@Araris.7839 exactly what u said.
“don’t want to look bad or like a coward when someone asks them to duel and they decline”
Is the only reason they dont want this system.
Or is there another reason? please let us know, because is unfair that we dont have the oportunity to fight with our friends with our pve gear just to have fun because of you.
I dont see how this will affect any person, a easy to add a option to decline automatically any duel.
Ohh I will look bad if I decline?
hahahaha! that is the kind of argument I expect when my 6 year old dares meIt is unfair that you come to my game and demand a feature that goes against all PvE design choices just because you want it
I can just decline- exactly how many times in 5 min would you like me to do that?
How do you want anyone to actually PvE with a bunch of “I want to duel you dude” spam going when you are trying to play " what you too bad kitten? coward"Yes no thanks
@ OP use the search button next timeWhat part of ading a function to block or autodecline duels you didnt understand?
Please man instead of raging read first a little bit.
Anyways, i dont want to mess with ur “killing computer mobs super experience”.
We just want a zone to practive with our friends with our PVE gear that we actually use in WvW.
Is this hard to understand? or even hard to do?
My apologies since I did not read as you said but instead dropped in at the end and blew my top because the title said duel.
I am very sorry.
If this is truly what you want I will put a suggestion here that I put months ago.
Place an arena in each city where players can duel- have a spectator mode if you want- heck charge tickets and bet on your favorite gladiator so people can get some ranks and achievements- make it a feature
That way and it will greatly enhance the cities and keep duels out of the landscape when you re running DE’s.
Fragmentation of player base

Hi- I play with a lower lvl friend a lot- my main is lvl 68 his highest is about 35ish.
We tried playing with alts but that sucked for us because we are both invested in our mains. We also tried doing stuff the other has done before to show the ropes kind of deal but that is not really fun for exactly the reasons you have said.
Our solution has been to pick a lvl appropriate for him on a map that neither of us have been to before- there are surprisingly many to choose from.
This worked really well, since we could both see new stuff, explore and help each-other do the hearts and vistas etc.
To my great surprise I have found this much more challenging even when down lvl-d as opposed to areas where I have been before where I pretty much march through.
I have also noticed that I get the correct drops for my level for those new areas.
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
If you are looking for a Eu server try Gunnar’s Hold- great community
Maybe Sylvari haven’t been around long enough to really have cultural weapons of their own, so they are borrowing from the closest race to them geographically.
That would not explain why the Asura use verdant weapons.
I know they share territory but the verdant theme do not really suit the Asura, in the same way that glyphic weapons seem out of sync with the Sylvari.
It would be really nice if the two races could each have a complete set.
I am a sucker for cultural armour and weapons.
I like having alts- I like running with all sorts of builds and I like having more that one set to choose from.
Exotic is ideal for that- the fact that it is easy to get is plus- it gives you more choice.
Ascended gear is the exact opposite of this
Sure there are some people who like power creep- why should that be my problem?
There are hundreds of game out there where you can grind for stats to your hearts content
And yes I can do everything in exotics- that is not the point-the whole game shifted it’s focus with the introduction of a gear grind- to the detriment of everyone so a few people can grind for gear.
Also as some have said- content is getting harder- it has to because people are running around in Ascended kit when PvE was already easy in exotics.
We will reach a stage where skill will not be enough anymore
A beta tester on reddit has leaked details of the mini-expansion due to be released in the second half of this year! Features include playable tengu, new polearm weapon, new zones and PvP maps!
What do people think? I, for one, am massively excited! Today is a very special day.
check the date ;P
Logitech G600
it is awesome
all others will bow before it eventually
The really good players will answer your questions in a friendly manner, help you out of a difficult situation and pick you up if you need it
Generally they will not be called xxsmashyourfacexx. Op I think the kind of thing you are asking for is not a feature in this game. Your best bet is just to play with people and decide for yourself if you think they are good or not.
Well I spend most of my time in game running DE’s on various maps because that is what I enjoy.
It is also why I am very poor.
That by itself is fine with me because I refuse to farm.
I have some suggestions about how to make DE’s rewarding.
Have unique armour and weapon sets per map and reward a piece or token per event chain
Unique crafting materials and recipes- that craft unique items be it boosts or skins- reward for doing DE’s per region.
Add more involved DE’s that give lore and maybe title like the old Legendary Defender of Ascalon.
Mini’s
More karma per DE
Have a reward system where if you say -liberated the settlement you get some of their produce ( tier appropriate to map) as a thank you
Reward players with fun consumables like the pheromone potion or a tonic.
Just basic fun and useful stuff so that if you want to maybe get really awesome planty armour you know Maguma is the place to go look for it
I guess the people who log in once every few days don’t care about ascended items, and are happy with their exotics.
Yes that is about it
I love it when the res please types are lying in overlapping red circles and they are dead/ dead.
The remaining people are fighting for their lives- but no- cannot way point- have to spam res please.
I will go out of my way and above and beyond to get a downed player back up.
A selfish dead player can just lie there
So let me get this straight- you don’t just want harder content for players who want a challenge, you also want better gear stats to show how hardcore you are?
Sorry no
Say what you want but gear progression is a terrible idea ( remember the Ascendant storm?)
I think that the Liadri mini is a great example of reward for hard content- it is cosmetic and it showed that you completed the content- hence the bragging rights. That is how it should be in GW2
As for your need to have large group content- no problem with that at all as long as the rewards are cosmetic.
The thing you forget when you complain about casual content is that many people bought this game because they are burnt out from years of playing MMO’s as a second job.
Many people came here because they are sick of that and the inevitable gear treadmill that goes with that kind of game.
Many people have real life commitments that only allows them to play an hour a day if that.
Those people play to have fun, kick back and blow off some steam- not to show how uber/ better/ pro they are.
I think you need to come to terms with the demographic for this game
Open world dueling is a basic function that needs to exist but doesn’t because a vocal minority of uninformed people who’ve blinded themselves to the reality of dueling systems because they’ve never participated in any is busy trying to deny people a game feature that would have literally no impact on anybody who chooses not to participate, and which lack of presence harms the pro-dueling community far more than the incredibly minor objections of the anti-dueling community would do to them.
In short, I feel you bro, but there’s too many dumb people out there.
the feature does not exist because the game in PvE is based on co- operation.
It is built into the core mechanics of the game see:
individual loot,
no kill steals,
individual nodes,
Combo’s in combat,
dynamic events- that scale according to how many people are in the vicinity
etc etc
No where was it ever implied that this game would ever have dueling in PvE
next time inform yourself about the game you are buying before saying people who do not want dueling are denying you anything.
I like things to improve my characters and make gold. Is there any of that? Any good loot from stuff, or large bags or something?
well Pavilion was all about loot- it was a farmers gold making paradise
if you want to improve builds/skills on individual characters- Gauntlet was all about that
Also defeating Liadri- the final fight in the Gauntlet gave you essentially the most exclusive and coveted mini in the game- I die of righteous envy every time I see a Liadri mini
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
OP this is an Epic idea +1
I like the LS changing the maps – Kessex has gone through about 4 incarnations and the hearts have indeed been changed, as has the npc dialog in the Havens- I love it.
I would not just stop at Queensdale though_ I would also like to finalize the treaty with the Charr and lay the ghosts to rest.
I would like to see Orr green- settle South sun.
Expand Ebonhawke….
So many things can happen in the game if we are just willing for the zones/stories to change.
The world can really be alive.
The Personal Story is the major problem with this- I personally would not mind at all if they changed the whole concept of how it works- make it clearly state that it is in the past- have an overview of the old personal Story – and make a new one.
Anything really- to stop the World being kept in a stasis by it
Pitch, Lipstick and Mithril.
Granted I use this on leather armour but it looks awesome.
I actually really like Trahearne.
As a Sylvari I know him form almost the time I awakened- he has always been there to advise and help me and it only makes sense that since our Wyld hunts are linked we share the burden.
He is also the first of the firstborn and as such I respect him.
It makes sense that he is the leader of the Pact because he doesn’t belong to any of the Orders yet they all respect his knowledge.
Me? I am a fighter, Commander of the armed forces is much more my style
what you want is great
- but the this is a Themepark MMO- what you are describing is a Sandbox or in the case of AA a Sandpark.
Those two things are very different- you cannot have persistent player driven content in a Themepark game- at least I have never seen it.
I have also not seen any sign that Anet has any interest in adding such content- or even sandbox lite content like fishing- housing or whatever
which is why I play AA- it feels very much more alive when the world around you is player driven
I have always been very sad that the antennae face is not available for female Sylvari’s
but then we have the awesome thorn face
chronomancer.
PLease please please with cream and cherries
I want to be a Timelord so badly
Ideally it should be a cloth class but I could go with heavy- heck I’d run one naked if I have to
First of all, the numbers don’t belong to me. These numbers are directly out of Anet’s mouth. Second of all, maybe you fail to understand concurrency in this situation. Less than 500k of the 3 million who bought the game are logged in at any given time. Since 3 million bought the game that number should be a lot higher. Translation: A lot of people who bought the game were greatly disappointed.
you don’t understand what concurrency means.
yes it means that so many people are logged on at the same time.
say you are in NA- 400k players log on, some log off, some Pacific players log on, some log off, some Eu players log on etc- round and round the world it goes according to time zones.
That does not mean that there are only 400k players playing the game- sheesh.
Add them up.
it means 400k (or whatever) are playing the game at one time regardless of time zones
Translation- you are greatly disappointed and are looking for a justification by skewing info to suit you.
Btw you didn’t answer my question about trait lines
I honestly wish I could afford them on the TP or otherwise.
This month is tight for me in game and elsewhere :P
I really hope they release more dyes like this in the future, it is a really nice addition.
edit: Yes we need to be able to buy it outright. buy the gems , buy the product. \
NO rng
Great post.
I also feel that a legendary weapon should show a person’s skill at the whole game and should be really hard to obtain. As a display of skill
I don’t like the way it is structured now for the reasons you stated.
My thoughts were along the lines of quests and secrets that you have to find in order to make/craft a precursor.
I don’t know how useful that is though because the recipe will make it onto the internet asap. But that should not matter.
Make it hard, make it costly make it a real effort.
It would be an awesome real goal to work towards.
As it stands only people who are rich in game can even think about a legendary- While being rich in game is an achievement, it is not the kind of thing that says Game Mastery.
