Ive made my mistake of buying this game, and they wont get any more money from me until they learn how to push builds with more fixes than bugs.

Theres alot of bugs that exist since launch that hasnt been fixed yet. But hey, at least we can play new (temporary) bugged content every 2 weeks with the bugged stuff we already have. So thats nice.

Same here. I’ve not bought any gems with real cash since last August, and Arenanet is a long way from getting any more money out of me at this point.

Medium armor, for the most part, seems to be too extreme on both ends.

Either you’re freezing to death with skin exposed everywhere, or you are covered head to toe in leather with a trench coat as an extra added layer of protection.
Again, there are exceptions, but it would be nice to see some new armor sets that are balanced between the two. No trenchcoat, but not lingerie either.
Medium armor needs to be protective, but allow the wearer to be agile and unencumbered by the outfit. Many of the medium boots go against this in appearance (in my opinion). They are good designs, but for medium armor they look clunky and slow.

I suspect the fact that this has been left as is for so long is a solid indication of how much Anet cares about it.

Just because someone else plays in a manner that you don’t approve of doesn’t mean it’s an exploit.
If it’s really about PvE (which I am questioning), you need to simply accept that there are game mechanics that don’t follow your own personal rules, but are just fine by Anets.

I prefer to play psuedo-solo. Meaning I join up with whomever I come across in PvE/WvW that is doing the same thing, then we part ways when the objective is done. It provides fun, sometimes light conversation, and no commitments.

This would certainly cut down on zerker gear. A portion of the playerbase would spend no time swapping to setups that would draw out the pain and death as long as possible.

I find it odd that the NA/EU servers couldn’t have stayed at 80 while China stayed at 15.

And I also find it disappointing that China is now driving the development of the game instead of NA/EU.

China will continue to effect our development, ANET is still developing for both, so they will want to keep content as similar as possible. Also, whereas before this wasnt as big an issue, now, you must remember, an upleveled 80 tends to have a lot less traits/trait points than they used to. The difference between a level 80 and a level 50 is now super drastic.

I would very much prefer that Anet designs content with both NA/EU & China as a consideration, and where possible tailor changes to NA/EU & China specifically rather than lump both together because China GW2 is ‘more important’

Vol, we’re just beta for China now, most likely. It explains why the living story threw so many oddities at us last year. They were testing a ton of different ideas to see what worked and what didn’t, all the while getting people to pay cash to fund their beta experiments.

I think Queen’s Pavilion is an excellent example of what we can expect from now on if they are looking to develop one game for two vastly different cultures. China is their new big source of money. We will get table scraps, nothing more.

Because apparently the new fad over at WoW is to allow bots to get away with the goods, because some group said so.

While it’s limitations are arguable, I’m glad to see that Anet brought this out at least. Wasn’t my favorite April Fools thing, but a lot of people liked it.

I have a Fused GS, and a Zodiac Longbow. Both of which I got for under 50g (one was a drop). They are account bound, as I have applied them.
I enjoy having skins that are really rare (I’ve only seen the Zodiac Longbow on two other characters in the last couple years).
That being said, I do think the skins should be brought back. I like my rare stuff, but it’s not fair to other players.

Via a toggle in options, or on the map options itself, it would be nice to have a simple red or green outline around each zone, globally.
Green indicating that the map has been completed.
Red meaning that it is incomplete.

Fixing targeting would go a long way to making this a great game. It is horrible right now, and more of a hindrance than an aide.
Players aren’t stupid, and our characters aren’t stupid. With the exception of a few outliers whose sanity I question, nobody in the middle of a battle goes “oh hey, instead of fighting the mobs that are killing me, I’ll just target this random non-aggressive mob and attack it.”.
If anything, mobs need to be prioritized by their immediate danger to the character, and have that only overridden by the status of the mob (i.e. champs still are easy to target).

As for the rest of the list, it’s pretty spot on. Anyone looking to buy this game should read the list and carefully look at it, and consider how long these glaring issues have been around.

Setting aside the larger issues that exist, as I was jumping ever upward on a puzzle today, some questions came to mind.
The question I have is in regards to those little adjustments that are more of an issue of polishing the game than fixing bugs or adding content.
Using jump puzzles and vistas for an example, there are a number of cases I’ve come across where the landing point on a jump seems like it could have been done better. Something to give it a more solid look than a random leap at an edge that comes out a little further than it visually appears to.
What sort of resources have to be changed in order for a change to be made to correct something, if it is seen as a problem?
I don’t want to assume that it’s all just a matter of moving an edge or two on the mesh structure of the object then queuing that newly modified object up as part of the next patch download. What else has to take place in order for a “fix” to be made?
Does Arenanet want players to file bug reports when they find something that doesn’t quite match up?

It would be nice to have a “grid” option for the character icons, where the vertical space on the screen is used (not by default) to show as many characters as possible without changing the portrait size.
I’d like to see a mouse-over on the crafting professions as well that indicates what level that character is at with a given craft.
Some people have requested that the selected character display also show equipped weapons.

If one were to assume that the race in the image is accurate, Caithe would have to undergo a big transformation to end up like that.

Some observations:
the covering of the chest would suggest the person depicted is a female.

Necromancers have glowing eyes and can also use daggers.
Additionally, Necromancers particle effects generally have a green & black theme to them, which goes with the overall coloring of the image.

It’s not impossible it is Caithe, but I’m leaning towards this character, whoever she is, being a necromancer of some sort.

I’ve wondered about this as well. The only reason I can see this being as it is, would be to cause harvesting tools to take up more inventory space, thereby “encouraging” players to A. buy gems to buy bigger inventory bags, or B. pay for using a waypoint to a spot where players would then buy replacement tools.

If A. is true, I find it quite scary that Anet is that desperate for money. If B. is it, it’s still kinda creepy that they are wanting players to spend silver that badly.

At the very least it would be nice to stack up to 199, so that a new stack could be combined with one that is in use.

The game has been out for a year… and we still can’t even do something as simple as search or sort by armor type – really now?

^This!^ omg I never really think about that until I’m wanting to buy new armor. Sifting past all the Heavy/Light sets with the same stats is just a pure annoyance.

There are only two reasons I can think of that they haven’t done this glaringly obvious step:
1) They profit too much from accidental purchases
2) They aren’t smart enough to do it

You’ve correctly identified the predictors of player behaviour though – If it’s lucrative enough it will be farmed, if it isn’t it will be largely ignored.

This is entirely Arenanet’s fault. They decided to make this a game of scarcity, in which most of the highly desired content would be locked away forever behind dismal drop rates so that supply/demand would bring in high gold values, and, in turn, lead potentially to more cash to gem to gold transactions.
This sort of system isn’t inherently bad, but it wasn’t implemented very well and is now a complete mess. The whole loot system is in need of an overhaul when dozens, if not more, items are on the TP for just coppers over vendor price.
If they are going to operate on scarcity, then they need to add more item sinks into the game (note: item sinks, not gold sinks). For the multitude of food items that sell for mere coppers, they need to introduce recipes that give a player desired benefit while at the same time consuming a large quantity of that item. There are plenty of potions they could come up with that would consume a lot of the excess materials floating around.
Heck, introduce new transmutation recipes that allow these items which are in massive excess to be changed into something else of value, not just upgraded in tier.

The drop rate is stupid. If the OP harvested over 500 corals, they should have gotten the required amount. The very idea that a player needs to have multiple characters parked or ready to harvest a single item is pathetic. I am not one of them, but there are people in game who like to play on just one character. Forcing them to create alts is just more typical Anet “content extension” and gem store sales psychology.

As I understand it, the forums are at a standstill because Arenanet doesn’t have the manpower/knowledge on how to deal with them. They made the mistake of being convinced that a custom solution would provide all their needs, instead of using one of any number of proven stable solutions that already exist and are used by their competitors.

When you get piles of loot that you don’t want, but can’t give to your friend who wants it but can’t get it as drops.

Sure enough just round the corner next to the gate several sections of wall are collapsed, 50 strong (embaressed) zerg geos through…

Zergs, as groups have their own moments at times. I like it when the lead player has 50% reduction in falling damage and everyone just follows them off a cliff.

WTF? There is no “reward” for using the TP. People buy the item at the price the flipper sets. If the price isn’t right, they have the right to set a different price that matches their needs.
Anet doesn’t give out bonuses to people who play the TP every day, there are no tokens or achievement points or titles, it’s all just based on what people are willing to pay to obtain an item that someone else has.

Go back to Eve Online. Or could you not cut it there so now you have to try and poison a good game with your play style?

It’s really sad that Anet is so draconian in their methods that honest players actually fear being kind to others.

Bugs are to be expected, but if they say “we’re looking forward to bring out our flying mounts system”, I don’t want to here excuses as to why it’s been delayed and will be showing up half a year after expansion launch. You know, there were chairs and all other sorts of things in City of Heroes that you couldn’t interact with, but Paragon didn’t waste time making items interactable, instead they did something just as smart, and added animations (LOTS of animations) that you could use based on where you were standing.
Want to sit on a wall? Just stand on the edge of the wall, and choose from something like half a dozen sit animations, and boom, you’re bottom is at the same level your feet just were, and you appear to be sitting on the wall.
We already have the code/ability to do this. Anet simply needs to add more emotes, which is something people have wanted for a LONG time.

I can see it now… next Tuesday “New outfit available exclusively in Black Lion Chests. Buy Keys for just 125gems!”

Well, it’s not that I don’t feel for you on this, but you’ve also graciously accepted what happened, which is commendable. It’s distressing that Arenanet appears to be going so light on the people who are abusing it though.

Oh, and they said that MF is going to be moved to consumables?

What was it the MF haters were demanding? Oh yeah, an “inspect” feature.

Now they get their cake and can eat it too. MF is being removed from gear, and if you dare to use a MF boost, it will show up in your buffs, resulting in a party kick.

Luckily I was told about this a few weeks before the patch so I was able to buy a gift before it went live.

I did the WvW track grind for another last weekend, and it took me over 12h (utility primer ran out) I would say probably 15-18 hours in EOTM just following the blob commanders. IDK if that’s the most efficient way or not because I don’t usually WvW.

I will say this though. I had fun.

It’s a game mode I usually don’t participate in because I don’t have to but I got used to it and it ended up being pretty cool and got some spirit shards and champ boxes to boot.

So overall I think it’s a good change. Forces you to move out of your comfort zone and you never know you might end up liking it!

Most people who play this game are adults. We don’t need someone telling us to eat our broccoli because we might like it. And if we have already decided we don’t like WvW then what? Do it anyway or no Gift for you.

That is the point I was making above.

There are so many different lighting scenarios in the game, that I don’t even notice if it is day or night. In one zone, it’ll be brighter at night than it is in the daytime in another zone.

The day/night cycle is fine as it is right now, but night time needs a huge visual overhaul.

As you suggested, it doesn’t need to be so dark that you need a torch, but it could use some help.

While there are a nice number of choices for nodes, there are some that are missing still. It would be nice if Anet could fill those gaps.

Example: There is no node available through any means that provides you with a tree that produces hard wood, and there are no iron mining nodes.

OP reports that he was told to kill himself, and we have at least two other users saying he should shut up and play another game or quit. Such a lovely community.

@ Kasama & Apolyon – I don’t think the OP is arguing its effectiveness, he is arguing the math and what the new counter in the Hero Panel is showing. I haven’t done the math so don’t know if he is correct or not, but your posts seem to suggest that he is saying something else. Granted the title of the thread could have been better, but the post itself seems clearly concerned with the counter’s mathematics.

Some people just pile on with the generic answers after reading the post title and not bothering with the actual body of it. I’m surprised the RNG acolytes haven’t shown up yet.

Increasing the cap on magic find % is pointless. Anet is constantly moving more and more loot to item types that are not affected by magic find.
