A dedicated space away from everything else would be fine.

Pro-duel fanatics will never agree to this. They crave two things: To feel superior, and to have an audience see them being superior.

They will not be happy until they can duel at the Trading Post, the Bank, or wherever else people might just be trying to get things done. They love a captive audience.

DR is one of the primary reasons I don’t play anymore. It impedes players goals. It is an outright lie that it has anything to do with botting. DR, like so many other things Anet has done, is focused on funneling players to buy gems with real cash so they can buy gold.

Collaborative Development: Ranger Profession

in CDI

Neural.1824

Game Mode
PvE (possibly others)

Proposal Overview
Make the longbow a formidable ranged weapon

Goal
Bring the longbow to a special level of importance for rangers.

function
The longbow feels, to me, like “just another weapon”. It’s the “oh, warriors can use that too” ranged option. Even with range traits, the longbow is just another weapon that could be replaced by something else depending on class. With the exception of Barrage, the longbow isn’t that much different from a short bow. It’s a bow, with a different set of little tricks. We can stealth for a few seconds, big deal.
I would like to see the long bow changed so that there is some fear in the opponent (even in WvW). A reason to “get that ranger!”.
First, corral the longbow into a range only weapon. Allow it to do damage at even melee range, but change the speed of auto-attack. Make it slow enough that using the longbow at melee range doesn’t make sense due to lack of up-close dps.
To balance out the decrease in attack speed, give the auto-attack skill a substantial dps boost, especially at long ranges.
Also, since skill #3 has already been changed once, I propose replacing it with a timed shot. Press #3 to draw the bow, press #3 again to release. The longer the time between draw and release, the greater the damage (to a limit of course, but make it worth it). Again, a slow cooldown would be mandatory.
In the long run the idea is to make the longbow something with high-dps that is desirable in groups, but limited enough in cycle time that it’s less desirable for solo (a place that can then be filled by the short bow).

Risks
Depending on how it’s implemented, it could cause problems in WvW in regards to ground-to-wall or wall-to-ground, but that’s how it should be in my opinion.

By the way, looking at the quote, and the fact that “precursor building” is followed immediately by “and corresponding additional legendary items”, it’s entirely possible they don’t even plan to make current precursors craftable at all.

From Colin’s cleverly worded statement, to the “some precursors” showing in the image provided a few posts above, I’d say you are 100% dead on right.

Anet is going to, once again, play snake oil salesman and pull a fast one on everyone. They will give us precursor crafting, without giving us precursor crafting.

Getting really tired of this culture of deception.

Policy: 3rd-Party Programs; Multi-Boxing; Macros

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Neural.1824

Neural.1824

Double clicks requires 2 clicks, so automating this actions in a single button is bannable.

This is where Anet needs to make an exception and openly state it as such (CLEARLY state it).
A “double click” is a single action as far as the OS is concerned. Some people can click twice very fast, others can’t. This is why mouse software often has settings that allow the user to vary the click speed, or assign it to a single key.
Additionally, the issue of Repetitive Strain Injury is very real. There is justification when it comes to multi-key macros that fire off multiple skills in succession etc., but binding double-click to a single key should be an exception, as it is arguably a single function (even though you have to physically click twice to register it).
Again, there are many arguments about this.

I am simply challenging Arenanet to have the intestinal fortitude to step up and say “binding the action ‘double click’ to a single key is acceptable”, but all they want to do, it seems, is be broadly vague about it.

Or, should I start another thread on mounts too????

Because they want to use teh lejenderiez and not be balanced at all. sPvP is apparently too rigid and skill-based.

More likely that they want a captive audience to show off their manliness in front of.

Hi,

To clarify I am looking forward to hearing the communities thoughts on speed of acquisition such as how long crafting time takes? or drop rates in fractals and other areas of the game etc.

I hope this adds some clarity.

Chris

As the only person in GW2 who is actually happy with Ascended crafting, I’m going to mention the one problem I have that is related to it, and it’s the same problem I have regarding Legendary weapons as well.
T6 mats are simply too difficult to come by in PvE. They are a major requirement for attaining level 500 in any crafting profession, and they are part of Ascended crafting as well. Almost every other material required for Ascended crafting can be obtained in general PvE. Things like wood, metal, etc. are obtainable through a process that can be written down like a recipe and is not dependent on RNG or crippled by Diminishing Returns.
I know I’m alone on this one, but I love the way ascended weapons and armor are crafted. It’s what I originally expected to find for legendary crafting, but T6 mats are ridiculously scarce if you choose to hunt/kill for them.
As it is right now, there are 30+ items in game that can be obtained easier by farming gold then buying on the TP.
I gave up on collecting T6 mats for my legendary and bought them off the TP because I had gained nearly 300gold in the time it was taking to try and loot them.
Even with farming punishment it is possible to farm T5 mats if you want to craft some gear, but with T6 or some of the other rarer items (i.e. charged lodestones), you have to be a masochist to farm them yourself.
That simply makes the game un-fun, and takes the accomplishment out of it. In fact I pretty much gave up on my legendary after my T6 purchases. I crafted the components and they sit in my bank now, lacking the precursor (which I won’t go into here).

ANet, this set would feel special to me if it were tradeable AND remain always available at 1 ticket. It would mean that the skins would be reasonably obtainable on the TP and the BLWS simultaneously/consistently… and that would definitely be a special set.

As it stands I do want it… all of it… but I doubt I’ll pursue it. I’d need to approach it from both means as I listed above in order to feel the price is worthwhile for the effort to obtain any more than a couple of the skins.

[Suggestion] All NPCs should rez

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Neural.1824

Neural.1824

I get sad when someone ports out on me trying to rez them.

While I agree with your proposed suggestion, I have to say that if you rez me and I port out on you it’s likely because you should be focusing on the battle at hand and not spending valuable time rezzing dead players.
For non-timed fights this is not an issue, but for timed events like Teq or Vinewrath, it is crucial that dead waypoint out and not waste other players time.

A simple fix for this issue would be for Arenanet to implement event credit for rezzing dead players. There would be people who go to events specifically to “rescue” the dead at that point.

The 111111 problem

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Neural.1824

Neural.1824

This is strictly my own opinion of course, but, that being said…

There’s a lot of complaints, insults, and all around toxicity about players “just spamming 11111” for a fight, but, it seems to me, Anet made it that way.

Not because people are unskilled. Not because they are stupid. Not because they are lazy. While these issues may apply in some cases, when it gets right down to it, the real reason is there’s nothing else you can do.

Each weapon, in each class, is given 5 skills. Each skill generally does certain damage types. Yet when you go up against a boss, or often times the mobs of the sacred living story, what do you get? “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable”

As soon as you see “Invulnerable” that skill on your skill bar is of no use. Take the centaur herds in Queen’s Pavilion this time around. Perfect opportunity for skills like #5 on the Guardian Staff, where you can strategically place a wall that they can’t cross, allowing you and your allies to take advantage of the situ.. oh wait. “Invulnerable”

In the long run, it all comes back to skill #1. Because in so many cases, it’s just about the only effective skill, or, in many cases, it’s the most effective by a large amount. Sure, you might be able to use poison on a mob that is “Invulnerable” to cripple, but if your weapon is weak in that area, #1 is your best option. In fact, #1 is the best option in many cases when it comes to doing max DPS, simply because it’s the one that is off cooldown the most.

I work at it, and try to use my weapons such that the attacks I use are ones that are effective against a given mob, but often times it is just as easy, and sometimes faster, to let auto-attack do it’s job.

I don’t think that 111111 would be nearly as common if we had more skills to choose from, and that those skills were more effective.

To me, the “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” “Invulnerable” issue is just another gimmick, just like basic boss mobs that have the great lakes for a health pool.

Legendary Armor: Feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Neural.1824

Neural.1824

While some people like the look of the armor, this thread reminds me a lot of when the Ascended armor came out. A lot of people couldn’t stand it, and today few use it (the skins).
That’s the intent. Anet did as little as possible to make the appearance of the armor unique, added the features to make it Legendary, and will then go back to pushing outfits.
It’s a simple process really, and it worked really well for them with ascended gear:
1) promote new armor with new features that no other armor has
2) design it so that it’s unattractive to most
3) Sell more outfits on Gem Store
4) profit.

Asuran Moon Base

Neural.1824

Actually, the Skritt were not to be trifled with in the ancient times. Their empire spanned the stars, sprawling out across the galaxy like a blanket of fur. They valued peace and prosperity, and worked tirelessly to that end.
As fate would have it, they came across the Asura at one point while expanding their empire. The Asura, at first, were welcoming, but soon began to resist the ways of the Skritt not out of disdain for their desire for peace, but out of jealousy. The Asuran’s did not like the idea that they were not the most intelligent beings to exist.
It was the Asura who discovered the Skritt’s weakness, in that their intelligence was only measured by how many were concentrated in one location. After a century of planning, the Asura finally struck at the heart of the Skritt empire, kidnapping key individuals and moving them as far as possible from the others. As the kidnapping process continued over a period of 8 years or so, the overall intellect of the Skritt was decimated, and their empire of peace crumbled. Vile entities soon began eliminating the Skritt mercilessly, while the Asuran’s ignored their plight and worked studiously to obtain their own power structure.
After many centuries of long wars and countless lives lost, the races of the galaxy spread out to the very edges. Isolationism became commonplace.
Still living in fear of the Skritt’s group intellect, and the abilities they harbor within, the Asuran’s decided to find a habitable planet upon which to set up a laboratory where they could keep the Skritt in check, as well as work to develop a way to genetically remove this unique aspect of Skritt intellect.
While efforts have been somewhat successful, the Asuran’s are still somewhat paranoid, and to this day in places like Metrica Province, they run experiments on Skritt to test their IQ, even going so far as enlisting other unknowing races into assisting with the tests.

Seller beware? Avoid the TP?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Neural.1824

Neural.1824

The parties in question are satisfied, let it go already

No. This is not about the fact that the OP and Anet are both happy with the outcome of this situation. This is about the fact that Anet first attempted to strip the OP of both gold and items, and hoped he wouldn’t complain about it. It is only because of the uproar on Reddit that Anet was forced to go beyond sending him “We’re right, you’re wrong” e-mails and actually do something to rectify the situation in a manner that is fair to the OP.
This is a serious issue that needs to be resolved on Anets side, and other players, as well as potential players, have a right to know that this sort of unethical practice takes place at Anet.

You’re making the assumption that Anet knew they were wrong the entire time which doesn’t appear to be the case.

I think the problem is that Support made the assumption that they were right the entire time, and failed to actually look at the facts that the OP gave them to show that they were wrong in spite of multiple back and forths on the issue, then Support closed the discussion down.

Probably. The aspect of the poster’s post that I was arguing against is that Anet knew they were wrong the entire time and ignored the OP while knowing that.

Yes. Anet, and anybody with a shred of a concience, knew it was wrong to just pull the gold and not give the OP any items ore compensation. They continued along that path until the OP embarassed them on Reddit, then Chris insulted the OP with his “be happy you got anything back” speech, which simply caused more trouble, until Anet was forced to compensate the OP.
And don’t give me the whole song and dance about how Anet was innocent because they didn’t know the OP wasn’t really the bad guy. They made the assumption that their software is infallible and assumed guilt on the OP’s part. Their attitude towards the OP was just that, “you are guilty, period”. It wasn’t until OP went public that Anet suddenly decided it was in their best interest to double check their omniscience on the case, and even then, they initially responded with a real kitten move by telling the OP he had to just deal with a fraction of what he was owed.

“final blow” animations especially, where like a warrior jumps up with his great sword and slams it down on another person, hacking his skull in two, with cracking sounds as the sword is pried free. Mages that use fire can have their final blow be immolation, complete with the body shrieking and writhing on the ground for a full minute before finally just laying still and burning. Rangers would have a final blow that results in blood spraying from the victims mouth as the cough and wretch from the arrows in their chest. Whistling air sounds come from the holes in their lungs where the arrows protrude, the body laying on the ground, twitching afterwards as a red stain covers the dirt around them.

Even better, let’s connect Anet with the military in Afghanistan, and get them to record the sounds of people dying, so we can have realistic screams. How awesome would that be! Every time you kill a monster you get to hear a real person die.

You people are sick kittens. Leave GW2 and don’t come back.

Leather Farm

GW2 is approaching the 5 year mark (this summer). The entire team has delivered many episodes of the Living Story and an expansion. Yet some things seem no better than years back.
It is as if the developers at Anet do not understand how their own RNG encumbered loot system works.
If you lock something like leather behind RNG and expect players to take advantage of it…. the results are going to go wrong in all number of ways.
If the players jump on it and farm farm farm… sure, T6 leather might come down in price, but there is going to be a glut of all the other tier types, knocking them down to vendor prices (which they made drastic changes to avoid..that caused the T6 problem, because the drops are RNG based…and.. yeah.)
If the players don’t jump on it and farm, it doesn’t fix the problem the players had in the first place, and you’ve wasted a ton of dev time, on top of making yourselves look foolish to the players that want a change.
This is the folly of using RNG as a way of making things scarce.
Take Skittles as an example. Players are getting Skittles dumped into a huge bowl (TP), but only the red ones are desired (not being a Skittle-ist, just an example here).
So what does Anet do? Well, whomever it is that makes the decisions has decided that the only way to give the players more red Skittles….is to add another source of… more random Skittles. The bowl simply gets even more full, and red Skittles are just as uncommon. No-one is going to go rushing to the new source to waste their time and energy to obtain a scant amount of red ones when the rate is no different from anywhere else in game.

In the long run, I find it impossible to believe that Mike, John, and the others didn’t seed this. The “leather farm” is just more of the same things: Scarcity and RNG. They merely packaged it in a manner that made it sound like it had more red Skittles.

On a similar note, as more evidence, the new achievement that was added which requires an event to fail. They have known for 2 years at least that this causes player hostility and toxicity in the community, yet here we are again.. they are doing the same old thing, regardless of how many times the players have told them it is a problem.

Again, they aren’t stupid. They don’t ignore the forums. So the only conclusion I can come to here, in both the above situations, is that they simply do not care to change their methods, and it’s all just theater to keep the players playing and paying.
