Anyone else? I don’t need the expensive Abyss or White….just every single 55c dye I can find. I buy 2 here, 10 there. I have a dozen shades of light blue. Why? Because I can. And you know what? I look fantastic.

This new leveling experience is just crushes a player’s ability to try new classes out. Gone are the days where you could roll a new alt, try it out for 1-2 hours and get a general feel for the weapon skills and play-style. Nope, now you gotta be level such-&-such just to finally get access to all your weapon skills. We’re going to see a drastic reduction in new alts for existing players. Who wants to wade through this hand-holding sea of blockades?
The NPE should be optional for new players, not a forced regression of the game’s mechanics.

This isn’t about GW being better or worse than GW2 and that everything from GW needs to be in this game. It’s just a list of things from GW that were right on and didn’t need to be changed or removed. You listed some yourself. Don’t get all noble on the community after you contribute to the thread. There are definitely things in GW2 that they did better than GW did. I played the crap outta GW for years…don’t need to go back. But it’d be nice to think that the mods read these forums and will see what exactly they got right and what they got wrong in the eyes of its players.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
A bicycle may not be broken, but you don’t want to enter a race with it against a car.
Working as intended does not change the fact that we are comparatively weaker when using our kits than other classes due to this fact.I can agree they should change it, but the ridiculous hyperbole is a bit unnecessary.
I wouldn’t call it ridiculous hyperbole, but rather an analogy to illustrate the difference between broken and effective. I find differences of opinions on specific topics are often times simply a matter of perspective. I was trying to clearly explain mine.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Out of curiosity, why does everyone say Mesmers are bad till 40? What happens at 40 that suddenly makes em EZ? I just hit 31 and I haven’t had any troubles yet. Hardest part was 2-8 when I was still unlocking skills and weapon abilities.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
It has always puzzled me that we dress ourselves in the costumes of our hated enemies. Karka tentacle backpacks, scarlet backpacks, aetherblade outfits and slick packs…its like the allies winning world war 2 and then dressing as the Reich.
o.O I…never thought of that……

Since that time, there have been new patches to fix bugs, but they haven’t added this stuff to the Vigil Keep. I don’t get it, and I really don’t see an explanation that fits better than cash grab.
Wouldn’t you rather they fix the bugs first so things work properly? I know I do. I’d rather the limited time events run smoothly and have to (gasp) walk thru the free asura gate to access a laurel vendor and crafting station.

Gotta think that a thread with 1000 posts and such consistent activity would warrant some sort of reaction from Anet….like actually addressing the known issues with Rangers and either fixing them or telling us blatantly to kitten off. The fact that we’re ignored is so……..<sigh>

Gentlemen…meet Lugg
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
It’s funny. This issue is the exact same issue that rangers have with their spirits. At least they get a trait to make em follow. Warrior banners are so popular and strong because they can’t be destroyed. Yet turrets & spirits can and aren’t nearly as amazing.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
It’s designed to reward you for playing just as if it weren’t there. Just play the game. You’ll probably do 4 of the items within 30 mins without even knowing it.
Give it a glance & see underwater kills is on there. Oh, well then I’ll do that kill-krait heart that I still need for world completion now. It’s really easy. Stop trying to do it and just play.
Also, the only reason I do dailies is for the laurels. If you don’t want/need laurels, don’t do the dailies.
If you’re sub-80, doing the dailies are a better source of XP than a heart. So it’s actually a great leveling tool. Which makes it more than just a chore thing for a luarel…it’s a valid in-game goal.

I’d like another “big” pet, like a dolyak.
I like Ryoki’s idea of a pet with a short stability or aegis boon. That’d be hot, but we need a more responsive F2 for it to really shine. This would be a good ability for the “big” pet.
I’d like to see some more exotic pets, like crystalline animals as a result of the dragon corruption.
I’d like the Porcine Forage to be made less clunky, especially at range.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I was wondering why I was dying more last night than I ever do. My SB+QZ has been my lifesaver, dropping mobs before they can drop me. But last night I was getting smoked and was forced to actually use sword/torch for better damage. Yes, my ranger was more effective at melee.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
You can’t farm leather from nodes either. The discrepancy is that the recipes are equal, it’s the market prices that are not. Apparently, clothies are more popular classes and therefor the demand for tailoring supplies is higher, thus driving prices up. If the recipes were equalized based on today’s market pricing, in time the market will shift and the costs will be uneven. It’s just a shame that the costs are so vastly different.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
the engineer’s rifle kills are actually shotgun skills, so it would make sense for them to shoot from the hip.
Clearly you’ve never actually fired a shotgun. Nobody shoots one from the hip.
Except for people who shoot from the hip?
Clearly you don’t shoot shotguns enough if you think that shoulder shooting is the only way that it can be done.
It can be done. I could shoot the shotgun behind my back or thru my legs. But I wouldn’t. Because that’s completely kitten and ineffective.

If i use Engi for Roaming and Dungeons… Is it possible to stay on my weapon set or just one kit instead of switching all the time?
If you don’t mind swapping between your weapon set and 1 kit, then you’ll be fine as an Engi. There are plenty of builds for just 1 kit.
Also, you’ve been playing for 10 months. Despite not having an 80 yet (which is perfectly fine), you’ve obviously played quite a bit. Which classes have you tried? You should be able to get a little bit of information from your own experience.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I main an Engineer, and it seems (at least from your viewpoint) that they are similar to Eles…driven by versatility. Engis can do it all. But their kit choice determines the damage identity, and the traits and utilities determine how much survivability and support they’ll offer.
One thing that confuses me about Ele is that many of their traits apply only when in a particular attunement. Which seems odd, considering the strength of Ele is to swap attunements often to fulfill various roles. That makes it seem almost elementary-simple: deal damage with air (single target, high crit) or fire (aoe, lotsa hybrid), heal/cleanse with water, mitigate or condition damage with earth. This makes me think that Ele is an attrition profession, being able to dish out high, variable damage, mitigate, and heal without having to escape or reset fights. Yet Ele is a cloth class with low HP and the damage output isn’t top tier. What am I missing?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Can someone explain what Audio Logs are? Does it have to do with the F&F storyline? Cuz I haven’t done anything with that yet.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’ll be honest. I’m lvl 30 and didn’t have many problems with the Karka or Drakes. Up leveled to 80 but i’m wearing greens and blues and barely traited. But it’s not about mitigating with armor, it’s about avoiding damage with blocks and blinds and dodges. If I made a mistake I got hosed, obviously. But if I kept my def skills up and whacked away I could easily beat em down. You can’t rely on your toughness alone.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
While I do like the traditional 5-man dungeon (or 8 if so designed), I too am a fan of the LA event as a dungeon style. Unfortunately, it will be restricted to temporary LS events due to the sheer size of the groups required to complete them, but they’re a nice change of pace. I like the idea of a zone-wide strategy and coordination. It’s the PvE equivalent to WvW.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
“I wish they would add a grind-based condition like Agony that requires higher tier gear. "
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Hmmm…. seems a bit obtuse really.
A new point every 6 levels, sometimes 2 points and then another 2 points at 80 since the math doesn’t line up.A much simpler way would have been just start trait gains at level 15 and earn 1 point every 5 levels which works out to 14 at 80 like they intended. Coincendently the starter zones are levels 1 -15 so it would work out to the player completing their respective starter zone before earning a single trait point.
If you use the aquirement rate they have provided it would seem level 90 is in the future. …
….
Not sure what to think at this point. I kinda need to know more.
If this was the system at launch I think I’d like it more than what we have currently.
As an aside there is so much changing in this upcoming ‘feature’ patch it kinda gives me the feeling that I’ve been playing something between a beta and an actual release…
The bolded part, so much. I can’t wrap my head around why Anet felt that players would love to spend their first 30 levels not being able to trait and experiment with builds. Seriously, 30 levels.
Hopefully the challenges required to unlock the traits can be started prior to 30. This way, when traits are finally available, the player will have a couple to choose from. Otherwise, it’s an even longer wait, making traits available at 30, and then having to accomplish the associated challenges to unlock them.
And if they require skill points to purchase, that puts traits in direct competition with unlocking utility/healing/elite skills.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I believe the daily pop-up chest is once per day per account and the chest that spawns on the ground is once per day per character.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Being able to save builds & not have to pay to retrait my character when I want to change builds.
also, more skills and more emotes. GW had tons of both!
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
While a lot of that seems like common sense, I’ve learned long ago that there’s nothing common about sense. Well said Noun. Good advice.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
He should have every precursor equipped and use them at random. Have a phase or 2 where he pulls out 1 precursor at random and his attacks are based on the weapon type. Whenever he pulls a new precursor out he laughs at you and says “Is this what you’re after?” or “Jealous much?” or “Mine, all mine!!” or “Ever seen one of these before?”
This needs to be done. I can see Anet doing this next April Fools instead of another SAB. People would mob Big-Z and demand it be made a permanent fixture.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Hopefully this just means they’ve figured out how to skin cultural armors onto other races. So maybe we’ll see gem store versions of the other culturals that are wearable on all races.

Another thread suggested this item but it would unsoulbind an item and make it account bound.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
They honestly just need to improve upon the Maguuma Jungles, like the areas they had in Guild Wars 1. The one thing you get enough of is plains, even the Shiverpeaks feel like they don’t enough, but that’s just my opinion.
Maguuma jungle in GW1 was just paths thru a dense jungle, but the paths weren’t dense, just narrow with falling spiders. I like the GW2 jungles better. Dynamic terrain, windy vines you can run on, swamps and ponds and jungle oh my! I like it. Caledon is one of the most visually appealing places in GW2.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Ok fine, call em signets, call em gadgets. Regardless, I like these ideas because they are elite that actually work into a build, rather than along side. This is how elites should be imo.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
So it’s unanimous. Llamas must be added as a tameable pet.
F2 as a spit or some sort of aoe “bleat”
And I like Zaxares idea of a bull pet too. Though I think we need bull and cow pets, for added variety. Cow F2 = udder squirt.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Also, it’s fun. I think the fights in the Labrynth are fun and challenging if you avoid the zerg.
And the point of Lunatic Inquisition is….<gasp>…to have fun. If it’s not your cup o’ tea, then just don’t do it. I think it’s one of the better mini-games we have.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
•Fixed a bug which disabled certain traits from functioning correctly. This includes Rifled Turret Barrels, Metal Plating, and Autotool Installation.
But is not inclusive? Are we to assume all disabled traits now work? Shouldn’t patch notes list every trait that was fixed? Is it just those 3 or others as well? You’d think with all the flak Scope has been getting they’d have opted to throw that one on the list.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
My main concern with this achievement is the lack of continuity between the realm and overflow clocks. When I first logged in I was brought to LA Overflow, which is fine. It was night time and I was told to wait about an hour for the fireworks. Then my queue comes up for me to move to non-overflow LA, so of course I do. Lo and behold it is now 3 mins after the fireworks, I just missed em, and I can’t get back to overflow. So now I’m stuck waiting in LA for 2 hours because if I leave to actually play the game and try to return in time for the event, I’ll probably get tossed into overflow, which is on a different clock, and miss the event all over again.
TL;DR – synch up the realm and overflow clocks!!

The Wintersday skins are available from the vendors in LA in exchange for the ugly sweaters and socks, etc.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Working hard = more rewarding. As I’ve said, I don’t mind a challenging and involved profession. I main an engi, and it’s a button-dancing good time. But its survivability is obvious to me. It seems like Ele has a lot of tools to use, they’re just not very strong. And to make any one type decent you have to trait the crap out of them.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Just kinda bummed cuz this is a good, challenging dungeon and I don’t want it to be available for such a short amount of time. Permanent JPs but non-permanent dungeons? <sigh> I get that you couldn’t make this permanent due to the storyline, but man…why would I want a permanent JP but a temp dungeon?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
But, as I said before, those types of changes were directed at exactly those types of players – the one’s who had never played before. Excluding GW2 to only players who have extended MMO experience is a business plan that is destined to fail. Make the game so anyone can buy it and anyone can play it.
There’s a difference between those who’ve never played an MMO before and those with severe brain damage. Adding tooltips and hints is great. Introducing events or combat mechanics that teach new players is great. Adding roadblocks to things like skill progression, gathering, traits, dodging, underwater, and downed is just a hand-holding a 3 yr old. It doesn’t teach. It hampers play by making it boring and it really dissuades veteran players or even people who have played MMOs before from rolling alts. Honestly, many MMO players are drawn to this game type specifically because it forces some deeper thinking and in-game experimentation.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I agree with OP that low-level zones are too easy for geared 80s. But scaling needs to be adjusted. Not the difficulty of the zones.
Also, you can remove a couple pieces of armor to manually scale yourself down more.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Yea I’m with you here OP. As I level I like to change my looks as I discover new gear. Ooh, cool new chest piece from karma vendor…now I need to get new shoulders and legs to match. That’s 2 stones. No biggie. But with the new system it’ll cost us 6 stones (2 charges). And the new wardrobe system only encourages us to make changes more often.
I think the conversion should be 1:1 stones and 1:3 crystals, with us getting a single charge per stone and 3 charges per crystal. This way sub-80’s aren’t penalized and all those stones we’ve accrued via map exploration won’t lose 2/3 their value. Not to mention that this update is going to have people doing all kinds of armor xmuting.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Agree with lunyboy about not putting too much into Alchemy.
I like the consolidation of things like Deadly Mixtures and the turret traits.
I like Overdrive.
Obviously, things like Scope need to be tweaked and turned on.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
For achievement point rewards. If the Slayer achievement only had 1 tier there would be a lot of people with zeros down the board, having not killed the 1000 that are needed. Instead, you kill 500 ghosts you get pts to award you for the next tier of personal achievement.
A person with 800 drakes killed has considerably more experience (and blood soaked armor) than one who has killed only 80. Yet in your tier-less system, neither would be awarded anything and both would be grouped together.
Tiered systems exist everywhere. It’s a tendency for us to give things order and rank. Should nobody in a company get paid except the CEO because 100% tier/rank hasn’t been achieved? No, everyone should get compensation for their accomplishments, being divided along the way until the ultimate tier.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)

[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
There will be new ways to earn laurels. Also, you can attain some ascended gear from running fractals. And I like dailies/monthlies as they are now, account shared. Let’s me bang out my daily on a sub-80 alt to earn some quick XP. If they were player-based, everyone would 1) complain that people with 1 dedicated main had a disadvantage and 2) would cause people to feel “forced” into running dailies with all their characters.
