12/13 STILL after another night of repeating maps, this is a terrible event.
Getting really bored with it now.
That makes very interesting reading, almost a mirror image of what could happen with GW2.
Good to see that the developer’s had the bottle to admit it was a mistake and do away with it.
I don’t care what any of you say, I would like the waypoint fee gone as well.. There is enough gold sinks in this game to make up for it.
Waypoint costs have seriously affected the social aspects of the (so say) social game.
An aspect you all don’t seem to be getting, GW2 is not a social game (something I’m sure ArenaNet would avoid at all costs) , it may as well be a single player game, for those of us that maybe don’t do dungeons.
And many of the dungeons seem to be deserted now.
“Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows.”
We were seriously let down by Arenanet, this is the worst Ranger I have ever played.
Why would you want to spoil something that other people enjoy.
What do you enjoy doing, lets make a suggestion that will spoil it for you.
Edit……………
And I don’t run with the champ train btw.
The Ranger looked like such a “Team” player then, look where it is now.
I really like the Ranger video, that sold me the game, now, well…………
And to quote….
“Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows.”.

I’m with you, it’s going to be a nerf.
I always hope for the best, then get a slap in the face with a wet kipper !
The “Ranger” fixed and the pet optional.
Oh and maybe some real “content” added.
Paragraphs are your friends, and make reading so much better.
You can only buy HoT now and it comes with the original game thrown in, so they will be able to play immediately as soon as you buy it.
It’s better if you can get 2 pacts together.
The dodgy bit is like you say, going up the hill when mobs spawn behind you, sometimes the moral will just vanish for some reason.
Just sometimes the pact will be part way up the hill (This is good) and will continue up the hill when the mobs spawn behind, keep with the pact, don’t go back or the pact will go back as well.
The mobs behind will eventually catch you up at the start of the ramp up to the temple, , after you have dealt with most of them at the top of the hill.
This seems to work much better than going back to them at the bottom of the hill, and you should have a nearly full moral bar at the start of the ramp.
Of course sometimes the pact just insist on going back to the mobs that spawn behind, I just think it depends on how far up the hill they are when they spawn.
(Yes I’ve done Balthazar a fair few times).
PS. if you want more than one pact to do the temple run, the second pact must set off before the first pact arrives at Rally WP, they will then wait for the other pact(s). (And if your really clever it’s possible to do it with all 3 pacts).
PPS. I also used to think it was better to stay really close to the pact and drop a bit of aoe healing, I have now found it seems better to stay away a bit so as not to draw fire close to the pact, so now I tend to drop a heal and move away

I have watched this video many times and it is still applicable today about the Ranger.
There’s some very talented people out there, the dialogue and body actions go so well together.
Oh yeah the Ranger, nah don’t think it’ll ever be any good on GW2.
The last 2 vista’s and 1 POI is impossible for me to get, they are deep in enemy territory in a keep, right at the opposite end where we are.
I didn’t really think I would have to wait months to get them.

“Seems there are a lot of people that want something for nothing. If you want map completion then join a WvW guild and go get what you need. I am not sure why this is a problem.”
Personally I don’t want something for nothing as you suggest, but I do expect it to be reasonably achievable.
Joining a guild would make absolutely no difference whatsoever, many of the people who did get world completion got it when free server transfers were available, they may not be able to do it so easily now.
Ruprect.7260
“I am not sure why this is a problem.”
Just to spell it out to you as you are not sure why this is a problem…………..
Our server is at the top of the map, the vista’s I need are way down at the bottom left, both in a keep, the poi is very close by, we never ever get anywhere near the keep, even trying to storm it in a zerg would be suicide, going anywhere near it alone or in a small group is certain death.
Is it too hard? Respect the awesome work

The GW2 camera doesn’t really do this any favours, it collides on everything behind you, zooms in and out willy nilly, it’s not a camera that’s suitable for this jumping rubbish.
I think we’ve heard it ALL before, and what !
If you want a legendary, you’ve got to work on it. You’ve got to do a wide variety of things, including WvW. If you can’t force yourself to work for the legendary so as to get those badges of honor, clearly, you don’t want it enough.
You mentioned “work”, thats something I have to do for a living.
My mistake I guess, I thought this was a game that you played for fun and pleasure.
Change it so I’m not ALWAYS in overflow !
No please NO more pets, no pets would be good for me. (Ranger NOT Beastmaster).
Or if there is a chicken, it has to be the one out of Family Guy !
Sorry to break it to you, but ranger IS a beastmaster. That’s why our last trait line, the profession trait line, is beastmastery. Pet is the class mechanic, it will always be our class mechanic.
I know I’ve said this before and it’s been in other topics, but if you don’t like pets at all, you’re not playing the right class, I’m afraid.
I should have seen that one coming.
I play a Ranger, I always play a Ranger, we had a petless Ranger in GW1.
Yes we have a “Beastmaster trait” line, I have nothing in mine.
I don’t intend to play any other class, so please don’t tell me what to play or how to play it.
Thank you.
Yes hate it 100%
It’s so ANNOYING.
(And the running speed is slow anyway).
It’s fine as it is, I didn’t get to level 80 to die in a level 5 area.
Duh !
Just use rubbish gear and a rubbish weapon if you want to make it harder for yourself.
Yeah gathering tools are a real pain.
Removing them as a gold sink would not damage the economy in any way whatsoever.
Was a bit, not now………………… just do my dailies.
I have to agree with the OP. The expansion for me has become a monumental grind. The fact that you have to grind so much in order to obtain any sort of reward has really ruined the experience for me. I am not saying that there should be no work involved but the fact that you have grind experience for the masteries, then grind mastery points, then grind a crapload of the various new currencies for whatever item you are keen on getting. Mix into this incredible recipe the various meta events, which take a huge amount of time and the fact that you get barely any experience makes for a very sad gaming experience. Oh, and I almost forgot, the insane amount of disconnects!
Yes it’s a grind.
(Puts on tin hat and ducks).
Make or break time for me, maybe.
Depends on a couple of games l’m waiting for, depends how good (or not) they are.
Depends on what Anet have planned for GW2, and the direction they intend to take it in.
Depends on lots of small (in game) things if l stay or not.
It’s the gold BUYERS that keep the gold BOTTERS in business.
Both should be banned forever.
I’m sticking to 7pro until Microsoft pries it out of my hands. I upgraded to 10 and reverted back in 15 minutes.
The Karka event was brilliant, I remember following the pack over the hills, and the tree’s coming down, standing on the fountain looking things trying to kill this enormous thing knowing it would roll any second and take out loads of people.
Excellent, really enjoyable.
TEQ no like.

It’s no walk in the park here, but no worse than orr “Get’s map out” oops dead.
Many thanks guys, used Norton Anti Virus, it seems like its gone now … I wonder what caused it, I didnt even know GW2 got some cheats and stuff
.~
It wasn’t GW2 it was something you downloaded, and it may not be gone.
All I want for Wintersday is… It to end.
Welcome to the “Got Nothing” club.
Well from reading Colin’s post that could mean more loot for me, or a lot less loot for me.
Knew I shouldn’t have picked a Ranger as we do less damage than anybody else, means less loot for me.
I agree with everything the OP said.
It is a SINGLE player game.
There are NO rewards.
There’s “supposed” to be NO grind, but why not reward those that want to grind.
And there’s sure as hell no “Guild” in GW2.
Many of my friends have left GW2, for various reasons, but why would ArenaNet care, they have their money, and more just buy the game so it’s a happy (For Anet) merry go round.

I’m not getting on too well with the maps, I find them confusing.
There will be a plan behind the massive Karma nerf, it probably involves the cash shop in some way or another.
Other than that there was no need whatsoever for a massive Karma nerf.
Well KRiza, I hope the Devs don’t agree with you, because if they do, and they continue to add more crap like this, People will find a game that is fun, not a time consuming unfulfilling chore, designed for only a few players, instead of everyone who bought the game.
I just wonder why they’re not saying anything, has this been a massive ebarassment to them.
They didn’t foresee the overflow problems, plenty of people don’t like it, and I would guess some people are struggling and angry about it.
Funny because they were all over the SAB forum like a rash.

Bottom left hand corner of the map, looks like an eye, show or hide things.

Pet fixes are great and thank you, but I’d really like to see a way to “perma” stow my pets and give myself an uptick in DPS by doing so. Some situations I just do not want my pet out. Also, if we can make it so the pet doesn’t pop out on damage, fall or otherwise, that would be fantastic. Thanks for the attention Jon.
Yeap thats what l would like, but l don’t think there’s much chance of anything happening anytime ever.
Same here, I’m with you, I was hoping it wasn’t instanced………
Yeah just a Ranger here as well, you get used to the nerfs, kinda immune to them.
No I have no interest in being a druid/monk or healer of any kind.
It’s not like we had any choice in the matter, we were just steamrollered.
NO to Mounts!!!!!!!!! Want mounts? Go play some of the many other games with mounts in them
or go play GW1 and find a wurm in Nightfall. GAME ON
How can you say NO to mounts just like that, many people would like mounts.
I don’t like jumping puzzles or flying gliding jump pads, or whatever it is, doesn’t mean I just say NO to them, many people enjoy them.
Ans “Go play something else”, really you said that.
I AGREE
ALL MERGE ON A BOSS = CRASHCAN’T DO BOSSES NOW UNLESS I MAKE SURE I DON’T STAND TOO CLOSE TO A CROWD.
OK, new map (late map) less people, lets be calm and see if I get the boss this time.
Oh, it’s Karka Queen btw.
Yes got it, took longer with less people (more enjoyable) but that’s not a problem.
I also crash when every one goes to collect reward at Tequatl, when every one stands at the reward statue (big crown at this point, have to be quick to get my reward before it crash).32 bit client btw, I lose between 10 and 20 fps with 64 bit client depending on amount of people.
As I normally only have under 30 fps, dropping to 10 fps, totally gets my ***********.
I know 64 bit is Beta
Is there a way to find out when it gets updated what version it’s at?
I (Like many people) love the 64bit client, I don’t crash anymore, increased FPS, increased graphic settings.
What ArenaNet had with GW was a UNIQUE game, thats part of what made it so popular.
Now they have dumped that uniqueness and followed a traditional, used before, pretty standard MMO model, there’s nothing in GW2 that’s not been done before, ArenaNet have just looked around at the MMO games and taken bits from them.
And sadly produced a pretty standard game.(Not groundbreaking like it should have been)
Yeah problems are, warriors can use longbows, thieves can use shortbows, no other class can use both types of bow.
I can’t stand the stupid pets either, I wanted to play a Ranger, not a Beastmaster.
But no, we have to have what ArenaNet see as a Ranger, forced to use the mainly useless pet, a pet that is a total liability, a pet that they will never be able to fix.
Under what circumstances is the pet a liability?
Dungeons for a start.
Plus it runs all over the place agroing other mobs nearby.
It can’t even jump down 6 inches, it has to go all the way around, however far that might be.
It’s worth the purchase price as it’s b2p not a sub game.
I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody as the list of thing’s that I don’t like is growing longer and longer.
And they don’t seem to listen to us.
I’ve been in a large guild for months.
Never ever had any contact with them.
I never have guild chat on, but I do see other members about quite a bit.
Anything that excludes maybe up to 90% of casual players or creates elitism is bad for GW2.
And as Notsoperky.2348 stated, 3 or 4 difficulty settings (With reduced rewards) would allow casual players to also experience the raids.
Without that some people will always be excluded from content they paid ArenaNet for when they bought HoT.
And the DPS timer is just a cheap trick.
(Tin hat on, incoming flames).
Whatever they decide to do to the GS will most likely mess it up, and I use my GS all the time.
I’d like to be a Ranger but the bows are just rubbish.
I feel like a Warrior that has medium armour and just does less damage.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
Yeah it’s great dragging a (Mainly) dead pet around with you.
or go play GW1 and find a wurm in Nightfall. GAME ON
