Reasonable Epidemic adjustments

Reduce radius to 240. The current radius is massive and twice the size of Meteor Shower. A radius reduction would be more than okay.

Reduce range to 900. Although this would be a pretty heavy nerf, especially with the radius reduction as well, it would add a bigger risk/reward factor to the skill. Getting close to targets in zerg fights as a Necromancer isn’t a good idea. Reducing the range could promote more skillful decisions.

Disallow it from working on high health NPC’s and siege. It’s not fair to be bouncing so many conditions off of things that normal players cannot survive. This would be a perfectly acceptable change.

What the community wants

Remove it!
Make it transfer only one condition every few seconds!
Quadruple the cooldown!
Increase the cast time!
Long winded rant about how it’s broken and a half baked idea to completely rework the skill so that it functions completely differently and no one ever uses it again because reasons.

What ANet will do

Half-listen to the community, knee jerk nerf it to the point that it becomes even more niche than what it currently is.

Community cries that bunker meta is too stong.

Thoughts On Moa Overriding Transforms

My thoughts are that the entire idea of Moa’ing someone is stupid in the first place. Sure, you can evade it… But it still eliminates any real way to defend yourself once transformed. It takes away everything you have for a few seconds. I’ve never cared for the skill and I’m glad there aren’t any others like it besides maybe Basilisk Venom but at least you can still use your utilities after you’re hit by it. I just don’t think anything should be able to remove all of your skills… But that’s just my two cents.

Probably a strange suggestion but stats in WvW are different from PvP and PvE. I know plenty of people like myself that put a lot of work in to their WvW builds but the only way to see how they work is to find a fight. Which isn’t always the best way since you can’t really pay attention to every crit or condition floater like you can with a practice golem.

Adding 3 of them to the spawn waypoints, maybe near the siege vendors or something, would be really nice. Even just to take our frustrations out on them when we’re getting absolutely steamrolled, lol.

Line of sight abuse, like with the Mesmer, is what makes them a problem. Not high damage or stealthing. They’re constantly porting all over the place and it’s next to impossible to hit them or see what you need to dodge because they’re constantly coming at you from blind spots.

I’m similar to you but with the Ranger. I’ve been playing it for so long and have theory crafted so many different builds everything seems viable.

I don’t think that everyone is crying “nerf Thief” however. I think that the forums are full of those people, but in the actual game there are a lot less people who think thieves need a change or a nerf. The losers cry the loudest kind of thing.

What ever happens though, stick with it. I can’t say that Thieves will get some sort of amazing overhaul, but I stuck it out with my Ranger even with all of it’s glaring weaknesses and all the bad mouthing that goes towards the profession and now we’re getting some amazing buffs. As a Ranger main, I don’t know how it feels to be hated because people think everything you do is OP and that your entire profession needs to be redone… But I do know how it feels to be hated and to have endless false accusations made towards a profession I know inside and out. I would say, stand up for what you believe in, but don’t assert it with aggression. Or, in other words, don’t try to convince people they’re wrong because your opinion is as valid as theirs. Instead, give tips on how to defeat a thief, answer any questions they might have asked and sprinkle some facts on top of their QQ salad.

How about a dragonslayer knight class. I mean dragons are a big part of the threat to the game aren’t they?
A class that specializes in strictly heavy weapons like the greatsword, hammer and mace, has a lot of anti-condition shields that maybe reflect conditions back to it’s enemy or use them to increase the strength of their shields, or something to that effect?
It would be like a combination of the guardian class and the warrior class in the sense that it would have a lot of powerful offence but would also maintain a lot of personal defense. Instead of providing protection for others like the guardian does it would rely more heavily on protecting it self.

Dunno. Just throwing ideas out there. But as far as the Shadow Knight idea goes I could really care less. I’m not a heavy class kind of person usually.

Only one person can rally from said NPC since the rally changes, right? I don’t think it’s a big deal either way, honestly. Though I see your point, in my many, many hours of WvW, it has rarely been a real issue.

As someone else here has said, NPC’s helping you by blinding or stunning someone happens a lot more often. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten a free stealth from the pistol NPC’s by using Ranger GS #3 Swoop to leap through their invisible Smoke Field.

Has anyone done the Norn heart task in Wayfarer Hills where you’re turned in to a Snow Leopard? If so, you know how grossly stiff the combat feels. It’s like lifting your paw to swipe at a rabbit takes the same effort it would to tip a min-van. How about make the pets not so sluggish? I feel bad for their AI having to struggle to do any kind of attack. Being able to swipe, bite or shoot at an opponent while moving would be a massive improvement. Instead of having to first target their opponent, then follow them, then attack them, they can instead target and attack while chasing them.

Also worth mentioning that if you have swiftness or Super Speed (from trapper runes) you can travel significantly further. Using sword/dagger with trapper runes you can begin with Hornet Sting → Stalker’s Strike → Monarch’s Leap and get a massive triple jump going that can cover a ton of ground. Takes a bit of practice to chain it all together before the Super Speed runs out but it can make you very hard to catch.

Ranger sword is my favorite weapon in the game I honestly hope ANet never “fixes” it.

Considering any warrior (or whatever) running dire or soldier would have the same HP and same armor, then soldier gives “all the tankines in the game”, doesn’t it ? So soldier should be the zero risk and low reward ? I’m more into thinking that the risk exists because the damage output may not be enough, so we’re back to “power is underperforming”.

No, Soldier should be low-risk, low-reward. Which is its current state.

Dire should also be low-risk, low-reward. Which is not its current state. It is currently low-risk, high reward.

We can’t make this any simpler.

It’s far from that simple. This kind of simple thinking is actually part of the problem. Not saying there aren’t any issues with certain condi builds, but the main problem lies with people not knowing how to fight condi builds. Short of condi thief I personally prefer fighting condi builds any day on my power shatter mes. Because power dmg, once applied, “sticks” with you. Conditions can be cleansed (praise inspiration^^).

And who are you to dictate what Dire or Soldier should be. Both are just pieces of equipment with certain stats. What a player/build makes of that is something else entirely. Why people remain to think in such inadequate categories, is beyond me.

Most people are too one dimensional to see that Conditions are okay, but it is rather specific builds that are not. As well as being completely ignorant on how to fight Condition builds or how to counter them and instead just wanting them removed from the game.

To most people, Power is pure, fair and balanced, despite there being more Power builds that are overtuned than Condition.

Be all that as it may, WvW is not about small scale. It exists and it’s something many people are passionate about, but it is far more difficult to properly balance without breaking something elsewhere. Players need to accept that roaming/small group play is in a constant state of “unbalance” and the only way to survive is to adapt. Yes, there are lots of builds that are facerolly and OP but balancing those things won’t be a priority unless it effects the larger scale.

As is, condition builds underperform in organized fights. Against PUGs, it is relatively effective but not nearly enough to warrant any serious nerfs.

I can be blinded by my opinions just like anyone else but I see no solid evidence to change my thoughts on this matter. It’s always the same tired story of “tanky and can deal lots of damage”, “no possible way to cleanse it all” or “only needs one stat.”

I just hope that despite ANet’s iffy decisions in the past, they’re smart enough to understand that many of the people who complain about this issue aren’t being reasonable.

The Charr is my favorite race?

I recently made my first Charr after having always made humans. The whole clipping thing bothered me and I’m a sucker for playing dress up with my characters. Knowing once I found a good outfit for my Charr I probably wouldn’t be able to change it I never found them very appealing. Now that I’ve made one however, I absolutely love them.
I’ve always enjoyed their lore, their animations, I actually enjoy a lot of things about them I was just avoiding making one because of all the bad things I hear about clipping, jumping puzzles etc.

Open world PvP exists in WvW. You have what you want there. A large part of Gw2 PvE’s appeal is that there isn’t PvP there.

I personally live in WvW and the rare times I do PvE, those are the times I don’t want to be getting interrupted while I’m trying to make some gold for once.

I agree with you, OP.

Each class has it’s strengths and weaknesses and each class is balanced to the best of ANet’s ability. Nothing will ever be perfectly balanced but that’s why there are frequent adjustments – to keep things as close to being balanced as they can be.

Yes, ANet makes mistakes and sometimes they neglect to understand the communities desires but we can’t always get what we want. At least they admit to their mistakes when they make them (most times) and reverting the Smokeskales F2 ability was a perfect example of that.

Druid is just as playable as the other elite specs. It might not be as exciting as some of the others but it’s not completely broken. Balance patches will continue to happen so long as the game continues to thrive and Druid/Ranger, like all of the other professions, will have it’s ups and downs.

It’s fine to be upset with ANet’s decisions but crying on the forums tends to result in a “be careful what you wish for” situation more often than not. Perfect example was when I made a post requesting for arrow cart line of sight to be fixed in WvW and they definitely fixed it but they also made them completely unusable for a while, too.

If you dislike the way something is being handled, take a constructive approach to finding a solution instead of just “WAH, WAH, ANET HATES US, I’M REROLLING” or “naw they don’t you just gotta l2p.”

Unfortunately most people don’t have enough insight to give constructive advice and would rather make baseless accusations or just flat out insult any one who disagrees with them.

I understand this train of thought but I think if people truly want to WvW they won’t be discouraged from playing by a few defenders.

The problem is that at this point, almost anything can make people want to not play anymore. Fights and effort are what (for I hope most of us) make WvW enjoyable. If there’s no one to defend it just becomes a karma train and that’s when people stop playing, at least after they’ve taken everything in sight.

I’d say if you feel like you’re griefing then you should hop off the siege, get outside and fight. We’re pretty dead on Darkhaven compared to how we were pre-HoT release but we had some really good fights defending Durios last night. As usual, most of our players would rather go head to head with a threat than building a bunch of siege. So we spent a good 30 minutes or more pushing and pulling Sorrow’s Furnace until they overcame us. Had we just sat inside, built a bunch of arrow carts and waited for them to come through the hole in the wall, those fights wouldn’t have happened. They’d have said screw this and gone somewhere else because fighting siege isn’t fun when the enemy clearly has enough numbers to retaliate. Unless you’re outnumbered, you and your servermates should always give it a fair few tries before building siege. Get off the walls and see what you can manage.

Warrior is too strong in PvP

I play an oldschool vanilla Static Discharge Engineer and most Warriors aren’t too difficult to fight, although I cannot fight them on point.

The good ones are an issue, absolutely, but most of them are predictable Headbutt → Hundred Blades / Eviscerate / Skullgrinder → Whirlwind Attack, etc.

I’m easily able to predict, block and deny them their Adrenal Health, kite out of range for their follow ups and burst through their entire health bar down to Defy Pain proc. The hard part is lasting through 2 Endure Pains because they’ll usually pop Endure Pain when Defy Pain runs out to buy themselves time. These fights are usually very close, either they barely win or I barely win.

The point I’m trying to make is that with 1 block, 1 invulnerability, 1 stealth, no defensive traits, no condition cleanse and poor mobility, I’m still able to beat most of them with proper attention to skill Q’s and predicting follow ups.

Truth be told, I think the only reason I ever manage to beat them is because I can deal such massive damage in such a short frame of time. But a lot of professions can say the same with better defensive options and more optimal counters.

Warriors are definitely strong and I wouldn’t argue against a shave here or there. I don’t think any heavy nerfs are necessary however as it’s all about paying attention and not face tanking damage where you can avoid doing so. They hit hard but they’re easy to read, make use of your advantages and bait their immunities. They’re little more than a violently clawing kitten once their defenses are spent.

Hipster complex and warrior

Warrior isn’t that easy, really… In PvE and low level PvP it’s easy. But against skilled opponents it becomes a whole lot more difficult. It’s one of the most telegraphed professions in the game and pretty much everyone has a Warrior so most people know how they work. This just makes it even harder to get off surprise attacks on decent fighters.

They’re no where near as good as they used to be but they’re still a very solid profession and still meta in a lot of PvE content. I suspect they’ll see a comeback some time in the future for PvP but right now they’re fallen from the meta there.

I suggest you make one simply because they’re easy to grasp and very fun to play. If you plan on being competitive with it however just remember that Warrior is only good at stomping bads not pros. Good luck landing any hammer attacks on a player that knows how to watch for tells. I’ve fought some pretty good Warriors and literally all I have to do is stand a few feet back, watch what they try to do for a few seconds, bait out the CC’s then go in for the kill.

I win most of my team and soloq matches so I never experienced this problem. I would suggest choosing a more viable build and adjustic your tactics in a way that will give you more chance to achieve a victory.

If I were good enough to carry my team, I wouldn’t be posting this thread. Your condescending tone does not provide me with helpful advice. But congratulations on never experiencing this problem. Maybe when you do you won’t be so apathetic.

Ranger: "Spam to win!" (2/8)

I think I’m going to be sick… I play a Ranger because it requires more effort than other professions. You don’t hammer spam-stun to win, stealth-dodge-spam to win or condition dump and immunity to win. You actually have to utilize your abilities at certain time intervals and handle your weapons with care rather than facerolling the keyboard.
Please don’t suggest in any way shape or form that Rangers need a nerf. Suggesting that our weapons need a longer cooldown puts us from weakest profession to non-playable. At least in our current state I can still win fights if I play my cards right. Reducing ANYTHING of ours is like cutting that last thread we’re holding on by.

Hiding chest armour

DC Universe did a lot of things wrong. One thing they did right, was their customization. Which GW2 could take some lessons from.

No dyes, colour wheel. You can choose from any colour of the rainbow.
No style limitations. What your character appears to be wearing isn’t always what they’re statistically wearing. Say for example my character in GW2 is statistically wearing the Armageddon karma armor, but appearance-wise is wearing the Twilight Arbor set. That’s how DCUO works.
There’s also no class limitation, only role. Which GW2 doesn’t have so if customization worked that way every class could wear every type of gear.
Also that gear doesn’t take up inventory space. When you collect something you collect it as a style, then you can delete it and keep the style forever but not have the statistical gear.

If only the rest of DCUO were as good as it’s customization… Or better yet if only GW2 had these options.

Also, on that note, despite being able to run around completely nude but still statistically wearing a full set of armor, it’s very rare you see naked people in that game. Every so often there would be a bunch of naked men in pink underwear and cowboy hats having a gay rave dance but generally people would stick to armor. So that just goes back to how I said I seriously doubt you’d see a lot of people running around naked in GW2 if this were an option.

It’s funny how so many people complain about longbow Rangers and/or make fun of that meta and yet the biggest reason for it is because everything else is constantly nerfed.

Ranger has a lot of potential in the right hands. But you keep asking for nerfs and you’re going to have to keep suffering the longbow meta because there won’t be any other builds to play.

Also why is it a problem that Druid has access to a lot of daze anyway. There’s something called a Mesmer which has probably the most daze and stun access in the game and most of it is insta-cast.

Add another effect to Siege Bunker and Siege Might for starters.

Siege Bunker: (Total cost: 32. Incremental cost: 2/4/6/8/10/12)
-Reduces damage taken while on siege equipment/reduces damage taken to siege equipment while in use
Siege Might: (Total cost: 80. Incremental cost: 5/10/15/20/25/30)
-Increases effective range of siege equipment/increases effective radius of siege equipment

As for new mastery’s, how about;

Golem Master: (Total cost: 75. Incremental cost: 5/10/15/20/25)
-Reduces fall damage taken by 50% while in a siege golem
-Increases movement speed by 15% while in a siege golem
-“Whirling Assault” now adds 4seconds of burning to foes
-“Shield Bubble” lasts an additional 4seconds
-Reduces physical damage taken by 5%

Yak Master (Total cost: 30. Incremental cost: 2/4/6/8/10)
-Reduces damage taken to yaks by 5% while player is within a 1,000 radius
-Increases yak movement speed by 5% while player is within a 1,000 radius
-Reduces damage taken to yaks by 10% while player is within a 1,200 radius
-Increases yak movement speed by 10% while player is within a 1,200 radius
-Yaks will deliver an additional 20 supplies upon reaching their destination

Roamers Defense: (Total cost: 75. Incremental cost: 5/10/15/20/25 )
-2% reduced damage from enemy players while less than 6 allied players are within a 4,000 radius
-4% reduced damage from enemy players while less than 6 allied players are within a 4,200 radius
-6% reduced damage from enemy players while less than 6 allied players are within a 4,400 radius
-8% reduced damage from enemy players while less than 6 allied players are within a 4,600 radius
-10% reduced damage from enemy players while less than 6 allied players are within a 4,800 radius

I feel that golems are powerful enough as it is so I haven’t suggested anything too extreme with golem mastery. Speed has always been a problem with golems but it’s also to give the enemy time to prepare for their arrival. So a 15% increase would still make them slower than a player not piloting a golem.

Yak master couldn’t be anything too extreme. There isn’t much you can do to improve the quality of a yaks life so I feel that reducing damage taken (including condition) as well as increasing their movement speed would make escorting a much less tedious job. Also for the final bonus, yaks deliver 30 supplies from an un-upgraded camp and 70 from an upgraded camp. Delivering either 50 at a time or 90 at a time depending on the status of it’s camp of origin could mean upgrading towers that much faster. Which I would consider very worth the ranks to get.

And finally for roamers defense, I think of it as a “Koda’s Armor” you can bring with you anywhere given you have the ranks to afford it. It wouldn’t make an exceptional difference but I’m certain for a player on the lighter side of defense it would be a much needed boost to survivability.

Is there a written page on all of the changes somewhere that someone can link me? I didn’t see any videos or what ever about what’s going to be happening, I’m kind of out of the loop as all I ever really do is focusing on WvW, lol.

I see a lot of negativity here though which obviously concerns me. I feel like it’s probably not as bad as people are making it out to be but I think I’m more worried about Mesmers being buffed than anything \ :

I understand that there are already multiple threads on this subject, but the more flood the forums the better chance someone with the ability to do something about it will see our need for help.

For the past few nights (night where I live, Canada, Ontario) anywhere from 8PM to 12AM the servers will begin to lag horribly before they crash. Multiple people are experiencing this and just before I posted this thread I was in Crucible Of Eternity and we were all disconnected. We all rejoined, but the lag was so bad some of us were teleporting all over the place until we eventually gave up trying and called it quits.
I don’t know what’s causing this or if it’s an easy fix. But it’s effecting a lot of people and for lengthy periods of time makes the game unplayable. Skill and utilities won’t work, messages take up to 10 seconds to send, you get hit/killed by invisible enemies, it’s quite serious and it’s more than a handfull of people experiencing it.
Also, on that note, when the servers go “down” so to speak, this website as well is sometimes either inaccessable all together, or takes long periods of time to load the pages where as any other website works just fine.

So I am requesting your help/attention, ANet and NCSoft. Something is very wrong here.

WvW solo roaming tips

Mobility, control and awareness are your three most important tools. Although you can manage without mobility, only a seasoned roamer should be able solo travel without being able to disengage.

Watch the map constantly, bind a key so that you can look behind yourself, try to avoid taking obvious paths when going to camps, sentry’s, towers, etc.

Do NOT chase someone when you are in THEIR territory, it’s best only to engage if you absolutely need to. If you have some form of control, which is very important to have when roaming, you should immobilize, stun, cripple, daze, chill, launch, fear, etc. your opponent(s) when they try to escape. Despite what some might think, roaming is not all about 1v1’s, it is an aspect of roaming but not the purpose of it, so when you see other solos, it’s best not to go balls deep immediately upon seeing a red name. Learn your limitations and you’ll die a lot less.

Your objectives are: Kill dolyaks, flip supply/ merc camps, tap keeps/towers, assassinate zerglings, scout enemy positions and relay their actions to your commander and if you’re ballsy enough, stand near enemy zergs to make them lose numbers chasing you down.

Solo roaming, especially in T1 where I am, is a perilous hobby. You will die many times regardless of your skill, sometimes you get blindsided, sometimes you get greedy, sometimes you simply stop paying attention for a few seconds, dying will happen so don’t be discouraged when it does. Solo roaming is a respectable job that can be very helpful for your server if done properly, don’t let gank squads and zerg stomps upset you and you’ll do just fine!

Good luck and remember to use every buff at your disposal, food stacks, guard stacks, everyone does it so should you!

I’ve been doing nothing but VB since Friday, HoT release, and have made enough Airship Parts to buy the entire Light and Medium sets, have been on a bunch of T4 maps as well as completing the map itself and still haven’t gotten one coat box.

Being a bit rare is alright but this is kind of ridiculous…

Lol, I was trying to give some helpful advice until I checked back on the thread to see OP throwing a tantrum.
It’s all coming together… You’re not used to not getting your way so you’re throwing a fit over it. Not everyone has to enjoy what you enjoy. As I’ve said in my initial post, some people like karmatraining, EOTM is the best place to do that, group wiping karmatrains in EOTM is actually a lot more pathetic than the karmatrain itself.. There’s no challenge, no reward and I can’t see it being very fun for any longer than an hour. All you’re doing is griefing people. Go to a real borderland and challenge yourselves against people who actually want to fight instead of being a pest…

I am extremely satisfied. I hated the staff so much just because of that AA and always stuck to Scepter/Focus and Scepter/Dagger just so I could avoid using staff. But with the AA fix I actually bring a staff with me now.

Who am I to tell you what to do? Just some random person… But still, I feel inclined to say it because it’s been bothering me lately… Does anyone actually have any originality when it comes to making a human female? At least all the guys look different from one another whether it be height, face, hair, hair colour, what ever… But all the human females, or at least 65% of the ones I see, have the same hairstyle (the long one with the flower in it), very often light or dark blue, the shortest height and the same face with the painted on eyebrows.
Again.. Who am I to tell you what to do? If you enjoy that fine… But seriously? Do people find this attractive or what is this? When it comes to MMO’s, or any game with character customization for that matter, I’d think people would want to make their characters as unique as possible.. The only thing my characters share in common is that none of them are white. They’re all either dark skinned or black, which is uncommon in and of itself.

The problem is that conditionspecs can be bunkers and tanky as hell but still do as much dps as a full spec zerker with no survival. It’s simple – it takes one stat to go full out condition and three stats to go power.

Conditions have a wind up, power doesn’t. Power builds always try to kite and outlive condition spec’s, I see it happen all the time. They think if they play defensive and stay at range somehow they’re safe. Power damage is instant, condition damage is over time. Aggressive power spec’d builds will always beat a condition build, but 90% of power spec’d builds are too stupid to be aggressive.

Don’t fight under water? Not trying to be a smart kitten but if it’s happening to you on a regular basis you might want to rethink your strategies.

But yeah, Rangers are particularly strong under water for just that reason, the pet rez is very powerful. I find it stupid personally that there’s no option to stomp people under water.

I like DH.
Always outnumbered but always fight with what they have.
Numbers-wise, cannot compete with NSP or HoD, skill-wise…equal or better (especially NSP, their roamers are awful……jk…….well sorta)

This is why I was on DH for longer than any other server. They go out with a bang even when the odds are against them. I don’t know how certain personality traits are born on different servers like that but fearless fighters to the death is something DH has had as long as I’ve known them. Makes them both fun to fight and fun to be a part of because unlike a lot of other servers, they don’t (generally) rely on turtling in towers with a bunch of siege. But every server does that now and again.

Can I just ask why people play WvW (world versus world), a large scale mode, and constantly complain about the scale or suggest ways to make it smaller?

It was designed to be blobby. It’s not Party versus Party.

I understand wanting more options for guilds and that’s okay but, please keep in mind that some of us enjoy both the large and the small scale regardless of how uneven it can be at times. Some people like the chaotic mess and a challenge rather than the sterile sportsmanship environment that GvG’s enjoy.

Here’s a better idea.

Let’s make a portal in guild halls. When you enter this portal, you will be given 3 options:

  • PvE mode
  • WvW mode
  • PvP mode

Upon selection, the rules for said mode will be applied and you will be placed in your guild halls battle arena with a manually adjustable player cap.

For PvE, PvE damage, skills, etc. will apply. For PvP, same story but with amulets. For WvW, same story, etc.

You don’t need a new map. You don’t need your own map. You don’t need to exclude people from the thing they came to WvW to do. To float from place to place without anyone telling them what to do.

I’d honestly argue that guilds are one of the worst things to happen to WvW rather than the best. Since 90% of them yell at people, try to take control of the map and throw a fit if fights don’t go exactly their way. Oh no… You were outnumbered… Uh oh. Better cry on the forums that we need a place to have our special little tea parties because we don’t already have multiple places to do so (cough, guild halls, cough, obsidian sanctum, cough, private PvP lobbys, cough, empty borderlands).

EDIT: LOL, the amount of people that are complaining about blobbing… Really, guys. This is why cups of coffee have to say “CAUTION: HOT” on them.

Have you seen how much health and extra stats you can get from being in/near a fully buffed tower/keep/castle? My Necromancer has over 32k when I’m near one. And that’s from something you can get without gems.

Although I agree that ANet has shot themselves in the foot with this item, since it means you can receive buffs that you would otherwise have to pay gems for, I do not believe it has or will break WvW nor that it is P2W.

Because I never get tired of Bull’s Charge -> Hundred Blades insta-owning Thieves and squishies in WvW as a full zerk Warr. That and swapping to sword with intelligence sigil and pegging people for 8 – 12k with Final Thrust.

What was the point of saying this? The OP asked why we like Warrior and what makes it fun for us. I responded accordingly. And now you’re criticizing? People on these forums never fail to surprise me at how often they forget that this is a video game where you play it to have fun. Not all of us want to be top tier minmaxing PvP’ers. Some of us want to be casual… I don’t give a flying f_ck if it only works versus bads, it’s still fun.

How much attention to their characters do people really pay? I’ve been playing for just about a year now and literally 2 weeks ago I discovered that GW2 has jiggle physics and that boobs bounce. If I hadn’t seen multiple threads about it here and on reddit I probably would have never noticed that the idle animations had been changed. Why do people actually care about this. Most MMO’s don’t even give characters voices (unless it’s a cutscene) let alone extensive idle animations.

EDIT: Also, I really hated the idle animations on human female anyway. They looked ditzy and ridiculous like they were some kind of stuck up kitten at a frat party waiting for some dude to come compliment her on her boob job.

So a recent thread discussing the arrowcart line of sight changes got me thinking…

What are some changes people would like to see regarding structures (towers, keeps, castles), camps and siege?

I’ll start with a few things I’d like to see personally:

Thicker walls!
Defensive siege needs to be vulnerable to damage from outside a structure otherwise defensive arrowcarts would make everything impossible to capture. So making them invulnerable to player damage definitely isn’t the solution. But thickening the walls might help a bit. At least that way you would be able to stand on the walls of a tower/keep/castle while it’s being attacked without immediately getting nuked with AOE’s, which also means more room to place siege such as arrowcarts. As it currently stands, I believe a typical wall is two players wide standing shoulder to shoulder. I could be wrong I’m not online right now but that sounds about right. I think thickening the walls to four players wide would really help with defense without breaking offense.
Note that thicker walls does not mean more health.

Next I would like to see,
a bigger damage reduction for people using Burning Oil. 65% sounds good to me since you’re in such a vulnerable position as well as being the first and primary target any time something is attacked from the gates.

A mastery that,
places a reflective dome around the user when manning a cannon similar to that of the dome that can be placed around you while using burning oil.

A mastery that,
gives the siege a player is using reduced incoming siege damage excluding that of ballistas. Example: Arrowcarts you use gain reduced incoming siege damage (maybe something like 25%). This would allow rams to take less damage from gate trebuchets and arrowcarts to take less damage from catapults, trebuchets or offensive (outside the structure) arrowcarts while still keeping the purpose of ballistas which is to destroy siege.

Stronger Veteran Supervisors.
Currently when a camp is upgraded the Supervisor gains no additional stats. I think considering they are the “oomph” of an unupgraded camp, they should keep that presence at an upgraded one. Perhaps leveling them to 82 along with the other guards and/or giving them additional attacks.

This one is more a personal pet peeve than anything but…
Make the Ogres more persistent. Currently when you capture a mercenary camp (Hylek, Dredge, Ogres) in Eternal Battlegrounds, said mercenaries will then assault the nearest camp. If they fail, they die and respawn to try again later. The Ogres however do not. I think the reason for this is because you can revive Ogres once they’ve died but you can only revive two of the weaker ones out of the bunch that they bring. I think the Ogres need to assault a camp more than once but the ones that die and can be revived should remain dead (that way when they attack a second time they attack with two less Ogres).

And lastly,
trebuchets, mortars and catapults need to have their turn speed increased. I’m not sure what a healthy buff would be but something like 15 – 25% sounds good to me. As is, it takes just way, way too long to turn one of these siege units when they’re facing the wrong way. If my keep is being attacked and I need to use a mortar to kill golems, rams or players but the mortar is facing the wrong way… The gate will literally be either down or very close to it by the time I get the mortar facing the correct direction. I understand that if they could turn too quickly they would be too powerful but as it stands they are pretty much useless in one too many scenarios.

Any other suggestions you have please leave them here. Some people may agree with these suggestions others may disagree. That’s the purpose of the thread, to brainstorm! I would love to see more ideas for improving WvW because a new borderland won’t suddenly solve all the problems the old ones have.

I’m okay with outfits… If we can have more where removing hands, shoulders and head pieces are an option. I would like this set a lot more without the broadened shoulders which look especially awkward on my Norn ): Still, it’s a nice set and my Necromancer is rocking it.

I say “No Mesmers” when I do TA (: Because their clones always range attack the vines and the vines spit more when they’re attacked from range.

Also, although it’s sometimes frustrating to read the messages people post, I don’t think it’s wrong. If it’s a PUG group you’re allowed to ask for what ever requirements you want. They don’t have to be right, they don’t even have to make sense. But if people don’t join, maybe you should reconsider what you’ve asked and say something a bit more PUG friendly. I find asking either [80’s], [80’s Experienced] or [80’s Experienced – Quick run] is good enough. People who specify things like “gear check”, “5000+AP”, etc. are kind of goofy to me but again, say what you want, just don’t expect your group to fill very quickly.
