Vanishing Guild Banners [Title Changed]

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

HI,

Today I placed a heroes banner for everyone in Divinity’s Reach, then when I swapped characters, it was gone. I don’t know if this is intended or not though. But it’s not fair either way, since the banner costs Guild Commendations and is not fair for other players who I placed the banner for.

Any chance of a fix if it’s a bug?

Update: After nearly 3 months this is still happening. It’s not just hero banners, I’ve noticed Gold banners are doing this too, and have a blue outline since the patch that caused this 3 months ago, instead of green, as if in party. Please fix this as it’s a waste of resources for most players who spawn them!

Rather than invading the PvE zones (because they would no longer be PvE) I think what would be better is if we have some separate set of zones where home servers can invade each other.

Give them things like maybe, towers, castles and camps, and some sort of way of trying to keep these castles and towers and camps with weapons like catapults and arrow carts. Oh wait.. we have that!

You’re missing Rata Sum by the sounds of it

Lol yes, that has exactly the 9 WPs, 19 PoIs and 5 Vistas that he’s missing.
How do you completely miss one of the racial capital cities?

From the ground, you can’t miss it, as it’s a giant floating cube! :p

But looking at the map, it is kinda camouflaged by the surrounding brown rock. I’ve done map completion a fair few times, one of my characters forgot about Hoelbrak once, and another completely missed Dredgehaunt Cliffs!

It’s strange, but I’ve found it seems easier to forget some zones the more times you’ve done map completion, because you seem so sure you’ve already done a map you’ve missed.

So I have been playing mostly PVE since launch and have decided to invest my time in PVP, and this game has an awesome PVP with a large player base partaking in it but i can’t help but notice how rude people are in the lobby, is this common or did i just start on a wrong day because i have not witnessed this amount of rudeness in my time in PVE.

Yes, compared to PvE, the rudeness is quite bad I agree. However, in Guild Wars 2, we are actually quite lucky, because there are games where it goes on a lot worse than it does here.

That doesn’t excuse them of course. Some of the verbal abuse that goes on still shouldn’t go on at all. But at least we have the Right-Click →Report →Block option.

Those who verbally abuse over a PvP game don’t deserve their text to be seen.

What will happen to my skill points

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

Hero points will be coming through either as a level up reward or Skillpoint Challenges. Any other skilpoints you have aquired will be converted to a currency to purchase crafting materials to use in the Mystic Forge.

In other words: If you levelled your alt through map completion and did Skillpoint Challenges through the PvE maps, you’ll probably not lose as many.

If you did a quick fix speed levelling by EotM or Champ Trains, and gained skill points to buy skills through eating Scrolls of Knowledge, those Skillpoints will be converted into crafting materials.

They will easily be able to tell which is which by looking at your current level (So if you’re level 80 you get ~400 Hero Points) plus adding how many Skillpoint Challenges in PvE you’ve completed.

They’ve also said if you’re 80 you’ll be able to get most of the skills & traits anyway, so speed levellers won’t be too badly disadvantaged. But I still recommend to anyone get as much PvE map completion done, with as many characters as you can ready for HoT.

Edit: Included fact about the currency to purchase Mystic Forge crafting materials with special thanks to Inculpatus cedo for the correction

If people want all the things that other MMOs have, why don’t they just ask that other MMO to remove the Monthly Subscription Fee?

The thing missed here is that the rewards overall are continuously compounding. The more MF you have the more rare the items you get, the more rare the items you get the more MF you produce from salvaging that item and it’s ectos as a result, the more you ectos you have produced the lower the price overall of MF and in the end there actually becomes an MF standard for playing because there is indeed a specific amount of MF, unkown to us, that allows you to reliably acquire items of sufficient rarity to continue the cycle.

It is basically economic suicide.

If you’re worried about the economy, just give me all your exotic and rare drops – I’ll find a good use for them. nods

It’s always been in the naming policy that references to inappropriate bodily functions are against the rules when naming. Guilds and other character names with this particular bodily function have had to have a rename.

Character names get acted upon when other players report the name via right click. If other characters have that name, it’s because nobody has right-clicked and reported them for it, not because ArenaNet have suddenly started to allow it.

Hi,

Since today’s patch (June 14, 2016) – The Almuten Masion in Gendarran Fields seem to be bright, in a bug which I assume is related to the lighting bug currently in various caves around Tyria.

I’ll attach a picture. It was quite shocking seeing it on the outside of a structure, as I was sure it was an indoor bug. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, along with the cave bug.

Thank you.

Please, a clear statement re: AFK farming.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

Lets not derail this, the issue that this is about is being AFK while your pets + Auto-loot are active. Intentionally = Suspension, but what about unintentionally?

I’d like to think the GMs are savvy enough to know when someone’s doing it intentionally and when someone isn’t; I know as an ex-GM myself in a couple of other games that you’re generally given good guidelines on what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour so even if you don’t play the game yourself, you know what is and isn’t ‘normal’ player behaviour. From what Chris said, they’re generous with how long they give players to respond so I highly doubt most of the bans handed out so far are for people who have gone to the toilet etc. Of course, you always get guilty people who will protest their innocence, sometimes in the face of evidence that shows them not just red-handed, but red all over.

yea sure, But the GM’s in this game are not united across the subjects. Take Gem store reimbursements, I had 2 GM’s deny it, and a 3rd approve it after biting their heads off. Sure, that’s just one small example but its been like that for the last couple of years on pretty much every GM based action in my experience. We have GMs that care and listen to the customers and interact(even if the customer is NOT right), and we have GMs that are quick to do what they want and completely ignore you until you push back (and sometimes harder then you want to).

Until that changes, we cannot trust their judgements so blindly. which is why we need clarification that we can site as a source for when GM’s just ‘feel like it’ on their actions.

You forget that players have to report them first. If someone is intentionally AFK farming, the chances are, about 12 players have reported the same AFK farmer.°

If someone is mistakenly reported as an AFK farmer, they’ll probably only have been reported by one or two players at the most. Then a GM looks at it, and I’m sure they’re clever enough to distinguish the difference between the two.

(°I am by no means saying that actions are taken by multiple reports alone – each decision they do is still made after a human GM reviews the report, whether 1 person reports, or 1,000 people do)

An End to the Queensdale Train

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

I really don’t understand why people are complaining more about the play style choices of each other over the constant abuse towards players that the champ train has brought to Queensdale map chat.

Someone killing a champ and not on the train is not a troll or a griefer. They are playing the game in a way that the game allows.

A bunch of people running to get to a champ on time is also not trolling or grieving. They are playing the game in a way that the games allows also.

People speaking in map chat, and calling other people the R-Word or the F-Word or whatever, this is the real problem of the Champ Train, and it’s getting very, very nasty out there some of the chat. Especially weekends. It’s absolutely appalling some of the words people say to each other over one champion.

It’s a terrible example to set for new players. They buy the game, load their human character. Successfully destroy the Earth Elemental, and then bam.

“Train?” “Oak” “Someone already killed it.” “R*****s!” followed by more constant arguing over almost nothing. Perhaps 3 silver worth of loot that you can get back anyway.

Yes – people have the right to block people for abusive language and report. That option is there. But it should not be the case where in a game that is otherwise head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to open-play community and friendly and co-operative play, that someone has to spend at least once or twice a day reporting someone for something.

Please, end the champ train, for both side’s sake!

[Suggestion]How to stop Gold sellers..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

As players, we are in a far more powerful position to combat gold sellers than ArenaNet are.

We don’t need to lose our right to help out gaming friends when they need gold. We just have to use the most powerful tool we have to spread the word about how band gold buying is.

Use your respective server communities to your advantage by using map chat to explain what these gold sellers do and that there’s only one real safe way to buy gold, and that’s through The Gem Store.

I know it seems like common sense to most of us that buying gold is dangerous and wrong, but not all players are experienced in MMOs. Some players don’t understand the dangers of these websites, and others are not experienced with the internet altogether, and when they see these genuine looking websites, there’s no sense of danger whatsoever.

If everyone speaks up in map chat just how against gold buying and selling ArenaNet, and we are the message will get through about hacked accounts are used.

Oh, and don’t forget to block and report every single whisper and map chat message you see. They’re slowly losing their numbers now anyway.

Are you asking for a ranking system for Bell Choir that is similar to PvP so people who aren’t as musically inclined can be matched with those who are? I’m not sure if the time and effort to put into such a thing would be worth the two weeks or so a year that bell choir is around.

Also, you might have to delete your quoting of the ‘map chat’ there – it’s not cool to name & shame people, even if they are being un-cool to you. Instead, right click – report for ‘Verbal Abuse’ then block. Then move on.

I’m a “total noob” at Bell Choir too (I personally hate the word ‘noob’ as it’s usually used in a disrespectful manner) but I’ve never had anyone verbally abuse me over it, so I’m not sure why they are, but still, any form of verbal abuse should be reported, and it will be seen by a moderator who will take appropriate action if needed.

penelopehannibal.8947

This doesn’t mean anything.

Nonsense… it takes away the (widely held) belief that staff was out for Thieves because no two elites have gotten the same weapon previously. Now staff is definitely back in play.

It is anything but a widely held belief. The staff hype is a recent phenomenon whose only form of evidence ONE picture and ONE model. Rifle has been around long before, since right after the announcement anet was planning on adding new weapons to the professions. There are decent topics about it, speculation based off of anets track record and the fact that rifle gave things thieves did not have. When anet made that official, the first thing people thought thieves were going to get was rifle. The only reason why staff is a big competitor now is because the players who want it have hyped it very hard and constantly assumed staff based on unrelated data. Its annoying.

Staff was always in play, but you guys still have a picture and a model that could easily be discarded. Kinda like those few sword skills for tempest.

You’re still on the denial stage mate. Move on to bargaining already!

With all due respect, you clearly did risk a ban for a few bags.

It was discussed to death over two or three topics, with the conclusion from the devs themselves that it is not allowed behaviour. People have been actioned over it, even before an in-game fix was made.

That said, it’s not necessarily the case that your current suspension is anything to do with AFK farming, and could well be a mistake or for something else, though with the information you’ve given in this topic, the odds are stacked against your favour there. Feel free to submit a ticket of appeal anyway, in case it actually is a mistake (the email address should be at the bottom of the suspension notice you get when you’re trying to log on).

Good luck all the same, at least it’s only 22 hours and not an account termination.

Level scaling in PVE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

OP: What you’re basically asking for is to be level 80 and be able to kill an enemy in a level 6 zone before someone who is level 6 can kill them, making it more difficult for people levelling their characters since we share the maps with other players. This is why there is down-scaling, so Level 80s cannot wipe out mobs before a level 3 player can even get close to them.

Edit: If anything, downscaling should be made harder for Level 80s in starter zones in my opinion!
