Gliders just a worse version of flying mount

The main issue I have is the fact that masteries are not universal for the entire game, most are HoT zone exclusive
I don’t see a point. adding some animations doesn’t change the fundamental basics of how the item works
My speculation is $30 or there abouts, with optional collectors editions with extras (character slot, revenant rytlock mini, etc etc)
I for one don’t understand why we can’t get numerical hp readings, myself. Would make life a lot easier
No, I see absolutely no benefit from open PK in GW2, and every single MMO I have ever been a part of that has open PK also has a disgusting community, something I would never want to curse GW2 with.
If you want open PK, find a game built from the ground up with open PK in mind.
I love all the details that have gone in to every map.
Even a map like DR has amazing stuff that is often overlooked, for example when I asked my guildies about the planetarium in DR, most didn’t know what the heck I was talking about.
I believe the main source of this issue for those affected is the sandstorm, it’s pretty resource intensive so lower end machines don’t have a great time in Drytop.
I know older AMD graphics cards have a long history of serious struggles with fine particle/smoke/etc effect rendering. No idea about other brands
This is a dumb people game. Get used to it. You should have gotten the feel for this by now if you’re lvl 40. This game is a (very) casual and easy MMO. If you want a harder experience, you’re going to have to look somewhere else.
I am so horrifically disappointed. When I picked up GW2, I had hoped ArenaNet had kept their principals from my GW1 days (ie, lots of communicating, great customer service, and giving the players what they want and need) it seems I was mistaken
.
I will persist with GW2, but if all else fails, I still have my Archeum AA founders pack
Dunno about anyone else, but what are the actual drawbacks to ranger? (I mained mine and it was my first 80 and only character I played for months). We have massive damage burst in pvp, the longest range in the game, easy rallies from pets, our own personal aggro magnet, high boon uptimes from horn/various pet active skills, one of the best elite skills in the game (rampage as one)… it just feels like there’s no challenge or downside to ranger that I can think of.
Anyone else think this way?
I’d like under water combat a lot more if things didn’t aggro you from half way across the bloody ocean.
Just saying.
This topic is incredibly biased and opinion based, and not suitable as a compendium due to that bias, please stop linking to it everywhere.
They very specifically worded it as “next content update”, not “next patch”.
Do not expect these changes on Tuesday, as you may well end up disappointed.
HoT is supposed to introduce Living Story Season 3, so I’d assume we won’t be taking down Morderemoth with any HoT personal story, but as the final episode of the HoT living story
In this day and age, wth engine advancements being what they are, free-flowing cloaks that mold to people’s shape without clipping shouldn’t be an issue.
City of Heroes managed it about 8 years ago

So you lost out on gold because you couldn’t take the time to read item descriptions?
Alrighty then.
I’m pretty much the only member of my guild who regularly logs in any more. Kaybe one or two others log in every now and then. Even the guild leader has largely given up. Everyone else gave up out of boredom. My guild has over 350k influence and about half full on merits….. not bad eh. There was once over 300 members active at various times on the roster but it’s pared down to 60 or so members and only 2-3 really active ones. I don’t want to abandon the guild but there just isn’t much in the game that holds the members’ interest anymore.
then make use of the game’s system and join multiple guilds. rep your old one when friends are online, rep a different one when you want a group to do things with.
I couldn’t imagine being glued to a dead guild, I need to socialise too much
Trait merchants in newbie maps also serve no purpose and should be removed to avoid confusion
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
The NPE is a shambles, GW2 needs better in game guidance on it’s more advanced systems, not dumbing down of basic content.
they need a set in there all the time. tired of having to keep gems sitting there for weeks waiting for the right tool to suddenly pop up
F2P will be great for the game, PvP wait times will be down, dungeon LFG times will be down, maps will be more populated, and the F2P restrictions will protect the economy and we finally have a way to get friends to try GW2 without forcing them or us to buy it first.
Don’t throw the “QQ wah wah veterans are being screwed” stuff out again, because F2P only have access to the core game with a great deal of limitations to protect the paid accounts, and the massive population boost this will bring will benefit almost everyone who does more than just solo play.
Will there be more gold spam? probably, but the pro’s of this move vastly outweigh the cons, and I for one fully support and welcome our new F2P buddies.
How many is " a lot" to you? Because in over a decade of playing MMORPG’s I have never come across one with a gentler levelling curve and easier levelling system than GW2.
It’s not very boring, either. In a vast majority of MMO’s you are left to grind out your levels on the same mob/quest run/etc. Here there’s a myriad of things to do, all of which give you exp.
GW2’s leveling is easy, casual and fun. I dunno what you’re doing wrong, maybe you’re just endlessly grinding eotm for levels? Because that sure is boring as heck
GW2 is balanced around only having access to your 5 weapon skills, your healing skill, 3 utility skills and your elite, thus there is no need for extra hotkey bars.
I can’t think of any item you would need to hotkey, as 90% of consumables can’t be used in combat, so there’s no reason to not just open your inventory and use them from there
I demand generally better looking male gear as a whole.
For too long have MMORPG’s catered to female characters in massive bias, while male character fashion is horribly limited.
#genderequalityeverywhere
That moment when the entire team wipes and only you are left standing to save the day.
Happens way more on my necro than any other class

The one and only issue I have with HoT’s preorder purchasing right now is the slow trickle of information.
I support the preordering and support current prices (Mine is a purchase based on trust, as I believe ANet will deliver), but I entirely agree with players saying that more information about what we get with HoT is needed , even if you simply speed up reveals or reveal multiple specialisations simultaneously.
wait I can think of ONE downside.
throwing yourself off cliffs with sword 2.
Done that too many times >.>
I fail to see why this is an issue. Never had a problem with people griefing or “stealing” an instance.
Clarity on what you mean exactly would be nice.
you can’t crack an MMORPG because only the client assets are stored locally. everything from talking to npc’s to moving around on the map requires communication to and from the game server to be able to happen.
Offline games are cracked easily by simply circumnavigating the programs security measures, as all files necessary to play an offline game are stored locally, requiring no input to or from a game server in order to play
With a lot of time, effort and knowhow someone in the distant future might be able to emulate GW2 server responses to create an offline GW2 experience, but I doubt anyone has the time, willpower or reason to do so

There will always be unhappy people, many of those complaints are perfectly legitimate and simply poorly worded.
A business should aim to please their customers. Every one of GW2’s players is a paying customer, and they have the rights of a customer to offer feedback and comments on the product they have purchased.
Few people have the gift of offering constructive criticism and feedback without letting emotions run high, that’s just how people are.
gotta say I do love the design of it. looks very sleek.
I hope at least vanilla players can access guild bases, because it will suck hard if they are going to wilfully segregate guild feature access
dungeons, fractals, pvp, living story, dry top, wvw, achievement hunting, jumping puzzles, map completion, wardrobe filling, working on ascended/legendaries.
That’s just off the top of my head, I’m sure there’s a lot of other stuff, too.
GW2 has a hell of a lot of end game compared to other games.

I’m absolutely loving the halloween content, but one thing really souring it for me is the sheer number of glitch abusers in the pvp ghosts vs humans event. People not transformed who should be ghosts (especially prominent amounts of abuse from longbow rangers) people attacking through walls, people multing an instance and letting their preferred team know where targets are, etc.
Really spoiling the fun for me, and I’m sure many others
The Silverwastes are an active warzone. You can’t just pop in behind enemy lines.
I like it, the map always has something going on
Keep in mind, World of Warcraft is the first MMO for a lot of players. So they expect something along those lines and mindsets. Vets, or those who played MMOs before WoW, have more experience and know there were games before Warcraft. They tend to be more open-minded because of their experiences with those other games.
We know, if we want a Warcraft experience with a game, we might as well play Warcraft. And, unfortunately, a lot of dead and dying MMOs who tried to copy, found this out the hard way.
Still, I do agree with almost everything you said, OP. +1 to both posts.
I would hardly say that WoW is the first for most MMO players, but Ultima Online’s format (the game WoW copied) has become the “standard” in MMORPG development, so almost everywhere you find the same trinity, the same UI layout, the same gameplay, but that is why GW2 is so great. It breaks the stale mould that MMORPG’s have been stuck in for a decade.
However people in general find change hard to adapt to, which is why there will always be such polarising views on GW2 and it’s casual nature
You chose to engage in third party key trading, it’s not Anet’s problem, and it is actually against their ToS to resell keys and accounts (which remain Anet’s property) unless you are listed as an official retailer with them.
I’m more concerned as to the reason for the log in incentives, is activity dwindling that much?
Perfectly fair. don’t initiate a vote to kick without actually getting to the bottom of what’s happening. I’d have kicked you, too.
1 lvl 11 mobs(eagle raptor) is now able to kill a lvl 80 warrior in full ascended nights gear that’s using healing signet.is this to stop us afk in low lvl area.
how does ltp work when you are afk?
then don’t afk in aggro range of a mob, or spec in to healing power (lol) and afk more.
I think most people have an issue with the extreme focus on the Living Story, rather than any other aspect of the game (GW2 has been out for over 2 years now. That’s a long time to go without significant updates such as new classes/skills/races/level cap increase/etc).
Too much emphasis here is being put on living story and potential spoilers to it, but I think a lot of us don’t care for LS details, and instead want development feature details.
When will we see new dungeons? When will be get a new race? When will we get some more skills/weapons/professions?
GW2 has such amazing potential, but with so little feature expansion and so much emphasis on the living story as a way to avoid expanding and adding of new features, it’s a bit disappointing (And let’s face it, the new map is just Dry Top MK II. It’s not new, just an existing system with a few changes and some WvW map mechanics)

Yeah, I have to agree that the green just looks out of place on them.
given the spec is a support spec, I doubt it will have high damage.
People seem to be highly resistant to the notion that there’s something other than Berserker DPS in the game.
Given that all the specs thus far have a very specific role, is it really outside the realm of possibility that HoT’s content will be designed with more than DPS berserker mindless pew pew involved?
I strongly believe that they are giving us these specific roles because we will be in need of them with HoT
Many people seem to forget the flood of posts everywhere with titles like “Where should I go?”, “I feel lost.”; “I am too low”, “Mobs are too high.” or “I am dying all the time” whenever we have a great influx into the game. A large number of players needs more hand holding. Each player lost due to bad guidance and introductions it is potential loss of money. The data showed Arenanet the bitter truth. In China Arenanet heard the same complaints. They had to react. The data mined free trials forces further adjustments to the level experience. The free trial accounts probably will cause the biggest influx since launch. The goial of Arenaet will be to keep as many players as possible in the game who will buy the game afterwards.
As a side effect the new leveling system creates much more challenging content on the way to level 80. You can say even say the care bear mode is over. Play the story path of Ascalonian Catacombs with a level 30 character and you will have a real hard mode. Same is valid for the other paths at level 35.
The problem is, this change does not add any guidance (I agree, guidance is what I need and want, as stated in my OP), simply a lot of gating and spoon feeding total basic features (ie, skills), rather than the guidance we (new players) need regarding the game.
One feature I am hopeful about regarding that guidance, though, is the objective compass, that’s what we need more of, not gating and spoon feeding.
Let’s be honest, rockstar will screw something up with the pc release, as they always do.
Stronghold > whatever goes wrong with GTAV the first week or so
It’s a staple feature in almost every MMO, and I’m surprised they are not an aspect of GW2, especially with the wide range of uses they could have such as announcing the arrival of world bosses, or ongoing events and so on.
Yes, black lion chests are a form of gambling, though likely not in the legal sense.
Most “chance based” items like this feed on addictions. You see it in “gatcha” boxes in 99% of MMORPG’s. The Black Lion Chest is GW2’s gatcha box. Some people will spend a huge amount of money purchasing keys to get that rare diamond in the desert reward, though ANet is much kinder in their application of the “gatcha effect” than other games, by allowing players to obtain keys in game though various methods, rather than making the key gem store exclusive (which, realistically, would probably net them a lot of money. most MMORPG profit is from “gatcha” items and fashion)
(edited by rapthorne.7345)
They also killed off a huge amount of the really fun things to do in lowbie zones.
No more golem chess.
no idea, probably a similar reason to why we only ever auto attack with our main hand weapon even when wielding two viable melee weapons
I do feel like they’re trying too hard to make a unique GW1 throwback class and have sacrificed good functionality and actual usefulness for that, which kind of sucks.
Hopefully the devs will respond to our feedback and we’ll see a much improved Revenant in future beta weekends, because without drastic changes, I have no intention of ever actively using a Revenant except to get one to 80 just because.
