Yes, that’s one of the (unneeded) changes that came with the New Players Experience system. You won’t see things about world completion until you are a certain level. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Leveling_rewards
I’m really wanting to try and understand your bug fixing logic and you saying "The iWarden bug is not that simple to fix" is not a valid reason, it is a game breaking bug where as iLeap was not a game breaking bug.
That’s it, non-game breaking bugs are easier to fix than real game breaking bugs... :S *stares back at a Illusionary Warden staring at him* :P
Rata Sum’s actually the most convenient for this, IMO. It’s not laggy at all like LA was, and the bank, TP, and crafting stations are all in one small area. Much faster than running back and forth to the TP in LA.
I just didn’t know or couldn’t recall about how it is at Rata Sum, I just had seen that at The Grove crafting station and TP are very closer than somewhere else I knew.
Kind of feel like they took advantage of this to implement a cash grab by making certain things very inconvenient for us if we don’t buy passes to the airship.
I really tend to agree to this…
I propose that if it is that important, the camera still starts to spin if the character is dead. But it should stop spinning and not restart spinning, once the player moves the camera himself and actively.
In fact, it was the behavior before September Feature Pack. The camera would start spinning slowly so soon you are defeated, but a single click anywhere or rotating it yourself would make it stop spinning and wouldn’t go back spinning again.
About the camera zooming in when downed, I think it makes sense having it that way. In downed state your skills are limited and then your field of view would be shortened. In downed state you would worry about those on your throat instead those steps away from you (if you get what I mean). But also, I wouldn’t be against changing it to zoom out freely and such.
Yes I hope a dev can update us on the situation as where it stands right now. I bought EOTN a couple weeks ago and was hoping to get the goodies, but alas “Content disabled try back later”
We’re close, seriously.
Not removed, but hidden. Higher level chars still can see those nodes at that places. And yeah, I fail to see how it would improve leveling experience… I could learn about gathering at lvl 5 on my first char without being overwhelmed or such. How hard is for a new player to get close to a node and hit the Interact button? I fail to understand…
About TP and merchants, yes they were removed. No matter your level, there’s not any of them there anymore.
A side note is that area at Plains of Ashford looks non-sense now. You have NPCs saying things like “The crafter left a message for you, boss.” or “I can’t restock those until you get more in.” but there’s not any “boss” or merchants there anymore, they keep talking to nobody now. :P

Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug with the “Defeat the Separatists assaulting the Town of Nageling” event in which only 9 of the 10 required separatists would spawn, preventing successful event completion.
@OP: Firstly, calm down. There is not a perfect system, all them can suffer with bugs and either fixing bugs or adding features can cause bugs. It’s even worse with complex systems like a MMO. And issues mainly related to OS can become hard to track and fix as it depends on countless items. If you are a programmer you might understand it pretty well.
Also, what Turamarth meant is that there is only one box meant for editing your post. The second box you see is meant for a new reply and that one is always visible (it was there even before you hit Edit). And if you noticed what happens when you hit Edit is that an edit box replaces your post to allow you to edit it while everything else on the page remains the same. It would be way worse if it would take you to another page just to edit a post, huh?
By the way, since they used a third party software for this forum that’s no longer maintained and supported by its creator, I wouldn’t hold my breath expecting any big changes to the forums.
- Load screen time become 10 times higher than yesterday. because you are trying to load all the 25gig game folder into my 16 gig memory.
There must be some misunderstanding here. It’s impossible for any game to do that and I have never seen any doing that. The game won’t put the whole 25 Gb file into your memory since it won’t use all that data at once, it only loads what it needs and unloads when it’s not needed anymore. Usually the game uses between 2.5 Gb up to around 4 or 5 Gb of memory and I’m pretty sure it hardly hits more than 10 Gb.
Actually, from my own experience, what can cause increased loading times after an update is disk fragmentation. If the game’s data file is too fragmented the loading times will increase greatly. Try to defragment your disk, better yet if you can use a tool that can defragment specific files and use it on the game’s data file (Gw2.dat).
Also, if you want to switch to the 32 bits client you can do as Turamarth pointed out and it might be possible that most of the issues you reported had to do with it since you said the 64 bits client doesn’t work well for you. Give it a try, switch to 32 bits one and see if those issues will go away.
Last but not least, crashes and latency are tightly related to each machine, it’s not always game’s fault only (although both combined can cause issues). If it was something caused exclusively by the game only everyone else would suffer from the exact same issues. Would you mind sharing some of your specs? Maybe it helps to troubleshoot what’s going on.
And if you need some more individualized assistance you might try to contact Customer Support, some of your questions can be answered only by them.
The hand holding and speed in which you reach level 20 goes against the company’s policy of “play how you want”. If the game was designed to be “end game” since level 1 (where the player can do almost anything, except some dungeons and some other minimal things), level gating everything is saying that they (the company) either don’t know what they’re doing or lying through their teeth. For a game based on exploring I am honestly not sure how rushing and throwing you to max level as fast as possible, any kind of incentive to exploration.
Limiting your option (by the grade of level gating implemented) and forcing you to use scrolls and (for example) mindless Mist trains to level, in my opinion, is not the action that enforces “free choice”. But alas, people like it and it can be dealt with. Given, of course, that you have more options.
we have just one tiny request. An option. A way out. A godkitten If and End If on the kitten game code.
The lack of this option is why I think that the management don’t know what they are doing. In giving an option, you would get new players and keep the old.
This, this, this and this!
They could streamline the NPE to be more like the way it was before. There’s just no reason to stretch everything out so long. No new player is so unintelligent that they need to be given skills and such so slowly that it interferes with optimal play.
That, just… that.
Did anyone think these things would go unseen: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/NPCs-left-over-after-Ashford-nerf/ ? du.. NPE scores one more :P Was it so hard for newcomers to deal with merchants? I can’t see a reason for that…
Bug Fix:
- Fixed an issue in which the nameplates of players would move erratically when character models were culled.

Especially in a game as large as this you could never really test EVERYTHING to make sure that nothing would break after you implement any sort of change. Not to mention, that Anet IMO have a pretty good track record in this regard. Just chill out and be patient, there’s plenty of other content you could play. Actually I wasn’t aware of this, will check this evening if it also doesn’t work for me.
Lol, loved that. And good point yes.
Not a bug but an intended (and ridiculous) change related to the New Players Experience system. TP was removed from Plains of Ashford too.
Please give players the downed state right from the start. Newer players need it more.
Yes, this is my biggest issue.
It makes no sense. The downed state is an absolutely crucial concept to GW2, and should be explained as very much the very first thing when you come into the game. Keeping it from someone is exactly the opposite you need to do.
I didn’t follow it at that time but I found an article about what was announced before launch, if I’m not wrong downed state was highlighted as one of the differentials of GW2 over other MMOs or even GW1 itself, so wth removing it from new players? Seriously, day after day I understand less what logic people has been using in their softwares/games/etc… -_-
I’m just going to quote myself, since things here are similar to another one I replied to:
Of course one could say these bugs and mistakes are “unacceptable”, in fact that’s it they are, however they are “understandable”. Sh*** happens and things go wrong no matter how much you test stuff.
It seems some players doesn’t understand properly how a development cycle works. Automated testing doesn’t help so much either, they just test for specific stuff and unexpected stuff can happen when system goes live (something that the automated test didn’t expect). Public Test Servers doesn’t help so much either, they usually doesn’t have the enough load as live servers would have and the same as I said above could happen: unexpected stuff could happen in live servers and not in the test servers. As a programmer myself I have lost the count of how many times unexpected things happened on a system which worked pretty fine during test stages, also several were returning bugs which had been fixed but got broken due new changes. Also it’s hardly possible to test everything, at times a change can break things that aren’t in any way linked and then it wouldn’t even be imagined if it would need some testing.
C’mon guys, it’s just a game and devs are also human beings. At least these issues were acknowledged and they are working on them and stuff doesn’t happen with a snap of fingers. There is also a life out of the game :P Things will get sorted.
Chill out and be patient. At least they are fixing stuff (even if a few at once). Here is something to show what programmers and developers can go through, and can give some laughs too: http://programmers.life/ :P
Just an update, I have tested it and I don’t get this issue. For me it shows normally, with a full nameplate when a player is focused or selected. I never got a health-bar-only case.
On your second character you will see them. Same with skill points.
Stop using second character as argument. As I said before it’s a New Players Experience, first character, first moments in the game, first impression of the whole. When someone gets to the point of making a second char they aren’t a new player anymore. Let’s focus on how it looks for the New, how it looks at the very first time. Also remember, those who can be new to GW2 may not be new to games or MMOs in general, also they can have a very reasonable IQ :P

Oh, here’s a tip: You should click on the item outside of PvP in order to enable it. (It may now — due to the bug fix — be clickable in PvP, as well as outside of PvP, but I thought I’d share that bit just in case it helps.
Yes, I have seen several other PvE related items not being able to be clicked while in PvP or WvW, that makes sense. However, if the item is supposed to be openable only while in PvE it shouldn’t do anything while on other modes or at least a warning should be given (can this about warning be a hint for other items, as some of them simply does nothing?). Well, I take this fact as a bug so why it could be opened out of PvE. Thanks Gaile for the reminder anyhow.
That’s just one of a “reasonably” long list of bugs with mesmers: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mesmer-s-Bugged-Skills-Still-Piling-Up
Also, the “stuck” bug doesn’t affect only mesmers but other professions too.
I’ve not had any trouble finishing this. It’s definitely wonky — Tizlak follows you around, but you have to head to the right spot, which is marked with a harder-to-read-green circle than usual.
Could you and would you mind to provide a screnshoot or something? I have walked around there each single meter and I couldn’t get it to progress. :/
You’re not obliged to accept the progress Shadow. It’s completely optional.
Hmm I see that. Anyhow, I don’t see any use for that and just make things more confused and lead people to error. The player should be warned about that when that option comes up (which, IMO, such option shouldn’t exist. Why would people want to change the order all suddenly?).
And if I’m not wrong, I did that skritt part with a friend (it was my story though) and I can’t recall them saying something about that.

How about some vanity item or a title or something. Really, just giving us nothing is a slap in the face.
Anyone buying it will get a title at least, either newcomers or not. It can bee seen in a yellow area below that slide in the in-game purchase window. But the question would be: does it worth? Who knows…
I’m still of the mind that there should be an expac only option.
There is. If you have the game you get expac only. That’s the option.
Not actually. If comparing the deal for both newcomers or not, it’s like you are buying core game + plus expansion, but if you already owns it it’s like if the core game is “trashed out” for you.
I can’t get distracted with new patch content if I don’t play. And I urge everyone to stop playing. Just to see what happens.
Maybe it’s just bad timing, but I have already seen a few well frequented areas less populated on past days.
Level 72? Based on http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Level_rewards it shouldn’t give you any choices of armor. Unless you mean level 71?
O.o that’s weird indeed. For me it occasionally gets shorter at times. I usually have it stretched to show 10 slots per row and 8 or 10 rows height but after certain actions (that I can’t recall which ones) when I open it back it’s sized to show 3 or 4 slots on per row and 5 or less rows height.
Edit: I see you have bags hidden, just for troubleshooting purpose does it also happen when you have Bags Shown?
Weird, I have been using the 64 bits client with a custom Character Select music and it’s working normally so far. Sorry, no idea what could be wrong. Maybe try to repair the game?
Not sure if it’s the case but I have seen it happening before, going to an area and no mobs, NPCs and others.. it happened due lag as my connection had dropped for a few secs. Maybe that’s the case (either your side or server side), the connection was broken for a some time so game couldn’t retrieve the mobs’ positions etc.
Ah, when that issue happen I have also seen the “already spawned” mobs and NPCs just stopping their actions and standing still there doing nothing (it has even happened during a battle, boss was like “ok, let me rest a bit” :P)
There are a lot of threads on forum telling that Frostgorge Sound has been looking empty on past days.. I haven’t seen it happening on Seafarer’s Rest server though.

This is probably a bug that was caused by an update of some kind to the trading post but the old data still persists.
Yup, that’s exactly the case. Not a bug actually but leftovers from old systems. TP has gone under several changes since release but orders were never changed. At the very beginning you could place orders below vendor value (maybe a bug or not) and those orders still has been there so far (even before the latest TP overhaul).
Welcome to Guild Wars 2 and I hope you enjoy the game . Any question or help you need, just ask in game or on forums.

That sounds like a bit of inconsistency here. If “Show All Players Name” is unchecked it shouldn’t, by definition, show any names not even those in your party. Maybe the previous behavior was wrong and now it got fixed? Actually, I never realized if it would always show party member’s name despite that option being checked or not, then I can’t say much.
True, I recently got one from that promotion they did a few days ago and so soon it went to my inventory it got activated. Now I have only 4 days left to use it while I haven’t been needing to use it since I got it…
Forums aren’t the best way to report exploits and it’s even against rules. If you believe it’s an exploit, report it through email to exploits@arena.net
Edit: hmm, I can’t recall for sure if it’s “exploit@” or “exploits@” though…
RPG’s should be played at the speed the players want to. This goes all the way back to Dungeons and Dragons. If your party doesn’t like your DM’ing methods/progression speed, either they inform you and you fix it, or they choose to leave/the DM finds new players instead. We play these games for interaction and to experiment in a new world that lets us. It inspires curiosity at the pace of the learner. If all public schools held back everyone/moved at the pace of special ed students or those with serious learning disabilities, or simply, just slower students, we’d live in a society with virtually no progression since the top of the class would never have the opportunity to truly learn, or would simply quit school as soon as possible just for the sake of preserving their sanity.
+10 to this. What can I add more…
Thank you very much.
Also, another thank you very much for all of the assistance you have provided and continue to provide to other players on these forums. I have enjoyed reading your responses on topics and issues these past couple of years.
Off topic but I wanted to take advantage to say the same to Inculpatus. I also have seen how you have been participative and helpful around here, that’s appreciated and nice. Also another compliment won’t hurt :P Same compliments for everyone else that does so too xD.
Now, we can continue to grasp at straws and split hairs over whether or not posts that claim to just dislike the NPE rather than outright hate it really count as disliking it, or we can actually discuss changes that will help the NPE.
This, the last.
Before, even if you unchecked “Show All Player Names” it would show the nameplate of the char at the direction your cam is facing (like if it was focused) even if you haven’t it selected. What it seems now is the same behavior happens but only showing health bar.
And threads got merged but not a single word from those who should have a answer…
Almost 3 months has passed, a few shinny new patches has been released… and nothing, or at least no much, has been done to Personal Story, NPE and stuff so far… I have put my Personal Story in all chars in hold, as well not leveling up new chars until something is done about it…
where is the ??? build diversity!! and freedom for the player to choose how they play that made this game so fun
Yeah, it’s soooo nice seeing NPCs following me when it says it’s ME who must follow THEM >.> (about attack phase, no much to say as already reported here). I have send an in-game bug report too. Curiously, a friend was doing the instance with me, I was the owner but Rox and others NPCs kept following my friend :P
Fine, hold some hands and show people how to play, but test it out first so it’s done/designed/implemented properly, and include an opt in/out
Yes, please, thank you.
It’s just want most of us want (at least what appears to be the case in this thread). Cater who wants to be catered, and leave the rest of us to play as it was.
Yes devs, please? Is it that hard? This all could have been avoided if such thing was implemented from start. Again.. not everyone is equal then don’t put everyone on same plate.
Actually the NPE was made for new players and ceterans alike. Perhaps it was originally inspired by a desire for new player retention but a decision was made for it to target veterans as well.
Had an option to toggle it off for vets been included this would be a different matter but, as it stands now, the only option to avoid it is to skip the early levels..
If it was fueled by a desire of player retention, then it was a very poor job. No consideration whatsoever for anyone that bought the game.
Instead of implementing a sorry excuse of a lunar festival (I say this for two reasons: almost nothing was added; the dragon ball arena is soooo laggy) they would have spent time and resources in a much better and efficiently patching this as soon as possible.
Preferably before the expansion…
What can I say more… and yeah I agree with the thing about the festival.. it seemed just a “filler” for some lack of content (having LS chapter for 2 months would be too long huh?)
Instructions about repair can be found here https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client
And I don’t think they are ignoring or what not. Devs aren’t used to answer too much in forums but they surely read them. Support ticket also can take a while to get a response (although I have sent one recently and got an answer in less than 2 days). Just give it a time but if you get no answer to your ticket you can post about the delay in a thread, but I can’t recall which one now. I’ll update this with it if no one else provide it.
I have the same issue. I’ve always attributed it to ping. My only workaround is to spam back and hope my character manages to land on the platform.
Same here, but it works 1 of 100 attempts… I usually do a /sit or /cry near the jumping platform and wait for the timer to run out….
Can you link the dev response for me please? I went way back in the tracker and the only mention of the issue was 21 days ago.
You could perhaps just read the current page of the thread – the 6th post to be precise – where I gave the links to the posts from last week
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/HoT-maps-reset-on-me/5745957 and https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Banned/5749845
Yup, also I posted some quotes from devs here, just go back 1 or 2 pages in this thread.
I like some of the minis myself but I tend to agree. Although they are cute and nice when roaming around, they wouldn’t fit in battles and stuff and could be some immersion breaking indeed. Maybe it should be like player’s model, we have an option to degrade someone’s else model quality for whatever reason, maybe having an option to hide minis could be useful too.
That’s curious. The tracker (the thing on topmost right) says you must go to Silverwastes. In this case, all asura gates or map exits would show that green icon. In your case I would expect the green icon to be over the asura gate close there. Really odd. If you can, try to set journal to Personal Story and then back to Living Story and see if things get sorted.
Another thing, when out of Black Citadel where does the green star is at (not the swirl icon, that as I said the swirl icon will always be on map exits if you’re not in your destination map)? Based on your tracker it should be somewhere on Silverwastes.
did you post your ticket number in the Sticky, ‘Tickets 3 Days and Older’? You can find those Stickies in the Account Issues sub-forum. Every post in the latter Sticky gets a response.
This is the thread I was talking about. Thanks Inculpatus, I keep forgetting it, hehe. And you’re welcome joneb. Not sure how I could help more, but be sure the devs do read these threads.
