percentage of uselessness in tpvp these days

in PvP

Lachanche.6859

Somehow skyrocketed over the ceiling to a whopping 99%.
I don’ t know if the random team members i keep running into simply have phisical problems, which is ok since i can understand equal rights, or just take it as their duty to make the team they play for lose.
“Ok don’ t go far because you will just die and make us lose all 3 points”
…goes far, dies, and makes us lose all 3 points…
“Ok don’ t try to steal because you will just die and we’ ll have to fight with one less man”
…tries to steal, fail, and forces us to fight an outnumbered fight…
“Ok focus the necro before he melts everyone’ s face”
…starts bashing on the guardian while eaten alive by burning fear torment…
There was a time i used to think these random feeders were just unexperienced players but a lack of experience just doesn’ t cut it, you must gain some sort of insane pleasure by acting against the interest of your own team multiple times in a row after being repeatedly told to avoid doing so.
Which brings us to the next question, why do you think the percentage of masochistic players increased so much over the last month ? A major moba game closed and all the rage inducing players who played it migrated into gw2 ? Financial problems instilled the need to self inflict into average gw2 players ? People don’ t want to lose to necromancers and make the team lose before the necros can take the credit ?

In a discussion with some WvW guys, we came up with a conclusion as to why people do not come over to spvp. It is not cosmetics of armor or weapons.
The answer is much simpler.
———-They cannot run the same build that they usually run in their respective game format.

What does this mean?
———-They cannot achieve the same stat spread across attack, defense, crit chance, and crit damage.

The end result?
————-The build does not play nearly the same. So effectively it is a different build or a different game altogether.

So why leave my comfortable game mode with the build I know how to play with the stats tailored to what I want?
———-There is no good reason.
And that is why people do not cross game modes.

We still want balance, and we still want more gamemodes that actually promote teamplay and are more e-sport oriented.

The system in place is fine…for some people who want a quick join sPvP game. But for those who want to take the pvp a little more serious, this gamemode is a punch in the face on all levels.

It is fine to have it there, just give us another option, more options, the right options.

an e-sport CAN function off of one game-mode. The issue is that the mode has to be made for e-sport type players, it has to be the RIGHT game-mode.

The balance is slowly getting there, i would say it is better each time (usually) but the game-mode has seen no changes, no additions, no nothing. (spectator…no)

Even something as simple some randomized objectives, or moving some things around, or adding gank routes to maps.

(the 3 maps that are a prime example of the right direction for additional objectives [Forest|Spirit|Temple]. we just need to have something other than team-splitting capture points…a singular team-based objective…guild lord anyone?)

on that subject…how about you you guys try moving the objective from Ruins onto the to of the ship on the Raid on the Capricorn map….we know, water combat, woooooo, but we really don’t need it -.- (opinion)

What does 'no endgame' mean, exactly?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

JoakimFA.4713

For many of us endgame is enjoying the game in the manner which we like. Whether that be fighting in WvW, doing PVP, roleplaying with guildies, dungeon crawling for new skins, grinding mats for a legendary, doing some DEs, leveling an alt, taking part in the living story, trying out new builds ….. ect, and on and on.

  • WvW is just plain kittening boring, and is accessible at all levels.
  • PvP is not “endgame” because you get access to it at level 2. It’s not exclusive.
  • Roleplaying with guildies? What are we 12?
  • WOO YEH BABAY NEW SKINS THAT HAVE SAME STATS AS ALL OTHER WEAPONS
  • Legendary grinding? Yeah for a sweet looking skin. But aside from it’s “cool points” its just as useful in battle as an 80 exotic.
  • Yeah, how fun. After doing them over and over again while leveling, I can’t wait to do it when I’m 80. At least people will see how pretty I look now though.
  • Living story is crap
  • Trying out new builds? Is that even an endgame?

Things you forgot to add

  • Don’t even mention 100% map. Running around and jumping is NOT a character progressing endgame. The least it can be is “fun”.

Phew, now that that’s off my chest, let the rage-filled casuals tear me to shreds. I am ready.

Xoms supper ego boost self named builds

Xom.9264

In this thread I’m going to give out well known builds making up new names like I invented them then I’ll argue with the actual good necros making comments.

First up “Xomfire condition spike build”
30.30.10.0.0

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArYWjMad7xbib87JEpCPD0jdBXAxoHHTwoMA-TsAAzCpI+S9l7LzXyvsfNqYVx8DA

The other opition is go with Flesh Golem and 30% more pet damage, then lyssa runes might be a good choice. Traits are not writen in stone nor are the utilities.

Second up, this is a typical condition terror build powering DS with spectral utilities and souls marks but ill name it “Xoms totatly new never before seen terror DS battery build”
0.30.10.0.30

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArYWjMad7xbib87JApCPH944gVm6B8pzOA-TsAAzCpI+S9l7LzXyvsfNqYVx8DA

0.30.10.10.20 or 0.30.20.0.20 are good varriations on the build the first is droping the 50% more fear for just soul marks and creating a mark of blood on dodge, the second is taking faster recharge on staff works decent in WvW with utilitie changes i can do well small group fighting or zerg fighting.

And what necro guide is complete without a minion build… on second thought ill skip the minion because they are boring.

There are a ton of conditions builds out there all the patch did was make small adjustments to some of the already good builds for conditions the real change was in power builds and hybrid builds they got a nice boost however so did conditions, have no doubt conditions is still top dog for necros.

/cheers

GW2 as it is...

I hesitate to offer my opinion since people who do so seem to get shot down as “not ever happy with anything.” But at the same time, if concerns are not expressed, how will anything change?

I didn’t follow the development of GW2 at all, so it may be my own fault for not reading enough about the game beforehand. My previous MMO was pre-Abyssea FFXI, and after a game where just reaching the max level took me about 2 years, I thought the sound of a casual, no-grind MMO was good. I could pop in, do stuff, and still feel like I was getting somewhere, developing a character. Instead of an expansion each year at the price of a new game, there would be smaller, but constant updates.

What I failed to realize was that their idea of grinding was different from mine to begin with. In FFXI’s CoP Dynamis, from 18 to 64 guildies got together every weekend at the same time for several hours to farm an instance. For each run you attended, you were awarded a point. A certain number of points were required to cast a lot (with anyone else who had enough points) on a drop you wanted, if and when it actually dropped off a mob. At best, you were looking at least a year’s commitment to complete a set of armor. That was my idea of grinding; that your opportunities to gain the gear you wanted were not in your own hands, because nothing useful aside from leveling could be done in a PUG.

What ANet really meant by the non-grind was that instead of farming the gold painstakingly, you could swipe your credit card. Yes, you can play a profession “how you like” (more or less), but any build will have you buying the expensive gear over again, since everything is soulbound once you stick a rune on it. You can get a piece with P/V/T… If you want to try a HP Guardian build, you can buy new gear with HP in it, but you can’t sell the old stuff, oh no. But you don’t have to grind, you can just buy gems.

As for the living story, I’ve participated in each since the refugee one, and have not finished any of them. With the first one, I had trouble remembering what went on before by the time the second installment of it came out. Then, because I didn’t have enough time in-game to complete it all, the event was over. The same thing happened with the Superwhateverbox. I had fun with it, but had nowhere near enough time to dedicate to it every night, so I didn’t get a single gear piece out of it. The same thing with Southsun.

The real problem for me began with the Dragon Bash story, however. I did not buy a single rich coffer from the Gem Store. A friend of mine bought several, and got nothing at all to show for it. I know this has been beaten to death, but hear me out… A lot of guild mates wanted skins and have not gotten any at all. I popped open coffers as I killed minions and regular mobs, and I, a casual player, walked away with five skins. I would love to have been able to share them with guild mates. But no, so I’ve been spending them on weapons I don’t even use. The problem is, I feel like kitten when I wear them. I feel like a total kitten when I whip out that shield near guildies, knowing they wanted one so badly, they farmed their kitten off, bought coffers, to get nothing but candy that makes your character – ironically enough – vomit.

At least when you buy an expansion for any MMO, the contant is more or less permanent. You don’t have to get it done in six weeks or lose the chance altogether. This makes me feel uninterested in any new Living Story, because I feel like the “story” is written around whatever new skins or armor the gfx department came up with. Here’s new armor relating to the Pirates event, but sorry, it’s gems only. You can buy it for 800 gems, which is around 28 gold. Don’t have the time to grind? No matter, it’s just €10.

It really kills the immersion for me when each addition is a ruse to pump enthusiasm for Gem Story items, which are of course limited-time editions. You know a lot of casual, non-pro gamers who can farm 28 gold within whatever short time period the “event” is available?

Maybe if there was a subscription fee, the devs could focus on fixing existing content and balance issues, and adding the stuff that was promised ages ago, instead of trying to come up a story to somehow connect to the Gem Store Special of the Month.

Risk Vs Reward: Reward what Reward?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zero.6082

Zero.6082

This game has serious issues when it comes to the risk and time of doing something vs the reward of getting anything. I am confused on why they even bother dropping certain items anymore (ie: Pile of Putrid Ess).

Due to the Random Generator for items one person can put in a million hours do every thing and hit nothing but air, where as another can get a precursor in a week? What is the point?

I don’t even do half of the things in the game anymore, because the time and the risk of a fight isn’t worth the small amount of rewards.

When is or will this game actually give us stuff equal to the difficulty or time we put into it? Or at least can we get something worth while out of the crap we do get (ie: Pile of Putrid ess, terrible whites and blue, and wasteful greens).

Final thought: I get more from chopping a tree in Runescape then killing a champion in GW2!

Release a solid, full expansion with more than 1 day’s worth of content

Unfortunately I doubt this will happen any time soon. The devs responses in the Cantha thread make it sound like they have zero plans to do anything bigger than these living stories. The main reason, I think, is that NC$oft is publishing Wildstar.

For those who don’t know, Anet is a studio that makes the game. NC$oft is a separate company that sits on a mountain of cash and pays studios like Anet to make games. Since NC$oft is busy giving money to a different studio to make Wildstar, my guess is they are reluctant to give any money to Anet. Anet is then forced to use what limited resources they have left to simply keep GW2 afloat, which is why every content release is essentially a small festival to promote the sale of something in the cash shop.

I now die easier then ever!

Adrenal Health now doesn’t really work with the new cleansing Ire… now that we are constantly fighting between full and no adrenaline it barely heals for what it used to.

Healing Signet never got its passive buffed. Probably should double or even triple it. Or just make it a utility skill, remove the active heal and replace with some protection or a stun break or something…

Cleansing Ire only works after you need it. I need that confusion, torment, immobilize, cripple, chill, blind off before I use my burst…

Mending has to long of a cool-down. Lower it to 15-20 seconds, or 20 and make it a physical skill to make the trait more attractive.

Healing Surge is counter-productive, unlike any other heal in the game. It should simply heal for a lot and give 30 adrenaline and maybe cure burning/bleeding/poison… Just make it our version of hide in shadows with healing atleast 50% of our base health.

Add a trait that gives us health when we gain strikes of adrenaline? Hey that could be the new Adrenal Health!
