Ya I have 8 80s too of all professions/races and have had them all maxed and geared for about a year or so now. Leveling was tougher back then and gold didn’t rain from the sky either. It was still a breeze though and quite fun/worthwhile. There are quite a few benefits to having access to all professions maxed and I assume the countless benefits are obvious for the most part. The point is though, leveling is now easier than ever with leveling consumables (tomes, scrolls, etc), boosters, guild buffs, event/champ farms, dungeon running, crafting, WvWing, etc, etc….so many possibilities I can’t even fathom anyone having a problem leveling to 80. With all the options available, leveling a char from creation can be done in as little as about 3-5 mins to maybe a week or two tops. Leveling your first char CAN take a bit longer as you get accustomed to the game and explore maps and game modes etc, but after your first 80, there really is no reason for it to be any kind of a grueling experience
Its broken for him cause cant get over the so called TRINITY! Gw2 was successful getting rid of this crap and it is working as intended….

For the OP:
Watch GW2 Combat System 101 Video:
Watch HOW-TO-Build-Your-Class Video:
Now you understand how the combat works. The system is NOT Broken, it’s different from other MMORPGs. Either learn to play it and enjoy it for what it is, or you could always play other games that suits your needs better.
Good luck!
Here is the full guide:

Well, I don’t know. I don’t find the game easy peasy – yes, I’m not an experienced player, but I certainly know my way around the skills and never do I just sit back and spam skill 1 at mobs. But in terms of any other MMO I’ve tried (again, I don’t have very extensive experience), I think GW2 is more challenging in that I do actually have to react to things around me. The most recent MMO I’ve played, for example, is Tera, and I found that much easier to do since the movement is more restricted and it’s closer to the usual set up of MMOs (trinity) even though there is more movement and dodging ability than in some others.
This isn’t at all me sitting here saying that GW2 is hard – it isn’t particularly. But I don’t think it’s faceroll easy either. I’m sure that for many people who have years of experience playing these kinds of games it is, but for the many people who aren’t among the elite (and don’t underappreciate yourselves, a LOT of “elite” players post on the forums which makes it seem like everyone is of a certain level, which isn’t true for the vast majority) I think it’s difficulty is probably fairly normal standard.
Yes, there are a few mechanisms and mobs that could certainly be made more interesting (world bosses for instance do tend to lean towards the “just push 1” variety), but as a whole, I find the balance to be ok. I don’t think they could make the game harder without alienating a lot of players (not even including anyone whining on the forum and wanting stuff handed to them on a platter – I’m not one of those and I like to work at what I achieve, I just feel that I do).
I just really wanted to say how much I love this jp!
It’s so pretty and addictive, I don’t want it to end in a couple of weeks .. I loved it very much last year too, but the changes this year have made it even more amazing!
Thanks to those who created it!
I think it’s different reasons for different people. Personally I make alts specifically to go through different versions of the personal story. I’ve got 5 permanent characters, one of each race, and every so often I make others to do the other stories.
So for me it’s fairly easy because it’s the levelling (part of it anyway) that I actually want to do. Plus I don’t mind going back over the same maps, there’s often stuff I didn’t see the first time around, or different ways of doing it.
I do sometimes use the level 20 scrolls and tomes of knowledge, but that’s partially because I can’t sell them or even give them away and they’re no use for my permanent characters so otherwise they’d just sit in my bank.
But also every profession plays differently so that helps a lot. When I’m making a new character I’ll make them either a profession I don’t have or do something to make them play differently like using different weapons and that makes it a lot more interesting.

where did you get that number? where’s the source or link? you can’t just claim something without it. lol.

although you are right. he should have put the link in there
if you read more closely, you will see they had 460k players online at a time but this does not mean they are all the same ones in the next minute or hour.
Personally I believe GW32 has about 2 million accounts active meanign they logn in every month.
The other million account are split between quitters and people with multiple accounts.

Hi All,
Happy New Year! Thanks for being so patient with me. Regarding other dev’s posting during this period it is unlikely as it is the holiday period and I don’t expect them to emulate my behavior.
Note this CDI will only end when we are happy for it to do so ( and by we I mean all of us).
I am up to date with all the posts, thanks for all hard work, ideation, and discussion.
We are in the process of pulling the net in now and so I am going to ask you all to do something very difficult now (As in you won’t feel comfortable doing it). Previously I asked you to name your top three ideas. You did, and then everyone discussed them which led to a refocusing of many of your ideas and the birth of some new ones.
What I would like us to do is pick ONE idea that you would hold above all others as it relates to the community as a whole. Note I to found this very difficult but my one is blow. Also note I consider Wardrobe to be QOL, however any Wardrobe ideas that are Systemic or build on existing mechanics can be included.
Please also understand this is not a vote that leads to development, this is part of the ideation process. I would recommend looking at ideas that are built on existing systems or mechanics within the game. This is a nice to have however. Many have mentioned giving info on the relative weight of each idea that is put forward, we should do this after this phase but to be honest (having given it a lot of thought) I wouldn’t want to see this weighting get in the way of great ideas.
Remember at the end of the day we are not going to give details on what is in dev or what we plan to build. We will talk about what we like however and thus knowing details about Feature Cost is interesting to know but should not be something that inadvertently hampers the CDI or your ideas.
My original three were:
— Role Diversification: New skills/traits, new weapons, access to inaccessible existing weapons, infusions and hybrid professions.
— Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing, Guild Halls, and Faction Alliances leading to new game play opportunities, rewards and content.
— Hero Recognition: Unique Skins, Titles, Rewards, followers and NPC reactions/opportunities based on the players individual feats in the world of Tyria regardless of how he/she chooses to play the game.
And my top one is:
— Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing, Guild Halls, and Faction Alliances leading to new game play opportunities, rewards and content.
The other two were extremely close but I feel this one would have the best bang for buck for the community.
Finally note we are working on horizontal progression, with many of ideas (some of which may even be in this thread), so I can’t stress enough that this exercise is about further ideation focus refinement. Not a dev list.

A few of us over on Twitter have taken up a fun challenge to take one screenshot in Guild Wars 2 every day for a year. We’re using the hashtag #GW2Project365 to share our images with one another!
I think this is fun little project to take part in that could get us out to explore the world a little more in order to share some of the more beautiful areas this game has to offer. It’s also a way for people to improve their inner photographer, even if it’s just screenshots!
I thought I’d share this with the forum goers to spread the idea around more!
Wish I would have taken a screenshot of Sunnyhill the other day. Door was stealthier. And I was not the only one to witness this. A few of us tried running through what we thought was an open door ready to contest the circle and all we got was a hard smack in the face by an invisible door =\ stealthed doors exist!
Considering doors can stealth yet still stand there and mock you, I doubt buffs work on them.
I’m sure ArenaNet is very sorry for having offended you by attempting to fund the vast enterprise that keeps this game running and growing without a subscription fee. They have certainly realized the error of having to gall to offer you things you might want in exchange for money. After all, they’re just a few hundred talented artists and technicians working full time to maintain a AAA title; they don’t really deserve to pay off the student loans that got them there.
I’ve honestly noticed that more people who spend their time on this forum seem to have a more pessimistic attitude toward the game. Most people I talk to in-game rarely look at these forums.
The line being that more and more people are being influenced by others incredibly high standards. I came into the game after the newest patch but everything about this game is amazing in my honest opinion. I don’t care if any other “Good” MMO’s are going to be coming soon, nothing competes on the level of Guild Wars.
Nothing you can say about any other game will ever be compared to this game in any manner. The combat system in itself is unique although used before.
One thing people need to understand is that Anet is actually trying instead of just leaving it all in the air. I don’t even care if they don’t proceed on promises they make. At least the game is running and they are supporting it.
To end this rant, you all simply need to enjoy the game instead of trying to find everything wrong with it. Enjoy it all and not one aspect of it. I primarily WvW and PvP but I embrace every aspect of this game. It’s only been a little over a year, let the game grow.

I finally did it!
When I saw somebody else post theirs a long time ago, I had a long way to go. I had to be extra careful at the end to avoid going over.
My Achievement Points (8719) match my Account number (Hamfast.8719)
Now that’s an achievement I can appreciate!

But you’re happy for them to go around banning people unjustly and promising content in their patch notes but not delivering.
Wouldn’t be much of a loss by the sounds.
This thread is about changing the combat system to be like GW1’s. From what I’ve seen, it looks horrible, and I would never use it.
Of course SWG had such great success.

One thing I don’t miss from Guild Wars 1. The combat was utterly dull.
Anet doesn’t interfere in the gem/gold trade feature. The spikes are predictable and occur because of supply/demand fluctuations. For example, gold-to-gems spikes when new things are added to the gem shop or things go on sale, because a lot of players want to buy stuff using the gold they already have.
Last month it dropped slightly when the volume of gems-to-gold went up from people buying gems with real money to get the free gifts. They had a few thousand gems but not a lot of stuff to spend it on so a lot of people converted it to gold instead.
… GW2 is an MMO- not an american-exclusive game and by doing US-only ‘sweepstakes’ Anet is generating a bitter taste for players in every region which cannot participate.
They’ve done it before, they’ll do it again. They refuse to learn.
It’s not a matter of learning, I’ll try to explain as best I can.
Sweepstakes in the US are simple, you enter, you win, you get the prize.
Sweepstakes in Canada are illegal if the winner is chosen at random (you have to be able to “earn” the prize, not get it by chance)
Sweepstakes in the UK can be considered gambling and need special permission from the UK government unless they fall under strict guidelines.
Sweepstakes in Australia require a permit if the winner is chosen at random.
Basically, each country has differerent rules and regulations for allowing someone to win a sweepstake and it’s difficult and time consuming to ensure that the sweepstake is legal in every country, hence why most companies will limit the participants to the US only.
Instances are considered instances.
And thus not considered PvE areas.

In the last couple of days we have noticed a sharp increase in reports from players who were cheated while trading or buying items outside of the Black Lion Trading Post. One offer that is currently popular with scammers is offering Bolts of Damask at around 10g.
The relatively low cost of this item might make it seem easier to trust that the deal is legitimate. However, we’ve seen just the opposite. Scammers are offering these items and then not delivering them. Please keep in mind that if you lose gold in this manner it will not be returned. Please also remember that any account that we verify to have been involved in the defrauding of players will be investigated and suspended or terminated.
We strongly encourage our players to use the Trading Post because it was designed to ensure that every transaction is legitimate. Please pass these comments along to your fellow players, particularly if you see these “deals” being offered in chat.
Thank you.

Lol, now he’s defending the company by a completely hypothetical future maybe.
The LS has failed so far. The only reason activity is as high as it is right now is because of A ) Hype and B ) waiting on other releases coming soon.
By this logic then, we should go back to the hard Trinity of Tank, Healer and DPS, and go back to instanced raids instead of open-world fights, because the because the system we have now doesn’t work, and although there’s potential for improvement, it’s hypothetical.
Also, where was I defending the company exactly? All I said was because the LS doesn’t compare to an expac now (which I haven’t the slightest on how you’d consider that ‘defending’), doesn’t mean that it can’t. Saying that the LS can only be what it is now is a logical fallacy.
Don’t joke about bringing the trinity and team strategy that goes with it back into the game. It’s a wet dream I have from time to time
While I have nightmares about waiting for a healer. Or that one time in LOTRO where somehow we had nothing but healers ….
No thanks. You can keep your trinity.

How many times do they need to say that content traditionally associated with expansions will be released through LS updates before people notice?
I know they have said that but the problem is…..the content leaves and is gated so it has to be completed in the 2 week time frame or it’s gone, granted events like the current Wintersday are reoccurring but just like the LS it is gated and leaves the game after it’s ran it’s course.
I’m not complaining, I actually like most of the LS content, but the fact remains that it isn’t enough to hold the interest of players who have been here over a year and have completed most of the tasks that the game offers not involving LS.
Anet will have to open new areas of the map with new DEs, Champs, Hearts, Vistas, and mobs to keep the players happy and coming back to GW2, someone in another thread made a great analogy about sitting through a 2 hr movie that you had seen a hundred times and how much interest do you have in watching it? while I enjoy killing the shaman at the Maw it is getting quite stale, it’s a great fight for the first 1-20 times but after that it’s just kinda’ boring and I look for other things to do, after you do those other things what is left?
Yeah, because all of the LS updates have been entirely temporary content, and we totally don’t have a modified path in TA, scarlet invasions, updated Tequatil, new fractals, revamped Kessex Hills, oh and Southsun Cove …. yeah, that’s all gone now.
Living Story is not just temporary content … it’s some temporary content that’s used to introduce permanent content.
Outside of seasonal content, there was remarkably little temporary content in the second half of the year, and even a lot of the temporary content from the first half has returned to us as permanent content in fractals.
Additionally, when there is temporary content, it’s not just there for two weeks. The general pattern was one larger update with content that lasts for a month with a smaller follow-up two weeks later.
Yeah I know you are correct they have gotten better and like the tower in Kessex it has been around longer with more progression (story&content) than any other LS update, the 2nd half of the year has certainly been better contentwise, and if a expansion isn’t in the future I do hope they continue to evolve and refine their LS updates.
I also know that once they start down the path of an expansion there will be no turning back once it’s released, people will want another and another, we chew through content like it was a small bag of fries wishing we would have bought the large bag….it’s just never enough.
Like I said I do agree with what your saying, nothing I’d like better than for Anet to be successful in the direction they are going, new content every couple of weeks is just a great concept for a MMO and it has held my interest for over a year but I feel I’m in the minority of older players.

The fight itself is not to hard when everyone has knowledge of what to do during the fight. I’m in TTS and we fight on a different server each night on the main server to help that server and their people get their kills for Teq. Most nights we have commanders on both the main and the overflow. Its pretty rare that we lose against Teq. main reason people that want to kill him listen to the people that have mastered the art of doing so.
To stay on topic here the reason most people don’t do the fight in my opinion is because they do not properly know what to do during the fight or having people to lead them during the fight. I’m sure if someone said in LA map chat spread word to your guilds our server is going to take down Teq. at said time you would have a good showing of people willing to listen. Everyone wants to do the fight most just don’t know how.

This was also hyped prior to the game release. I’m still waiting on that.
They hyped 2014 before the game released? Wow, I missed that.
Did enjoy the kitten out of 2013 though.

I moan about the game a lot.
But gw2 has a lot of logical people behind it and a huge amount of potential.
Any indication of the potential being realised gets me excited.
Looking forward to it!
are we dere yet
Colin meme pics never get old. lol.
Besides, don’t get too excited everyone. LewisB runs a fansite, and he’s not a dev.
That is the only reason I am excited. If Anet said the same thing, I wouldn’t care or believe it. The fact that a player is saying that it’s better than an expansion means so much imo.
