I’m not saying there’s a thread on the front page by “Nokturnal Lunacy.3186” complaining about cheese builds, and this thread is from “Nocturnal Lunacy.8563” talking about “cheese build white knights.” And I’m definitely not saying there’s a connection to the two.

Thanks for making my morning. +1

After playing Destiny, I appreciate GW2 more

I’m not going to say anything bad about that game…, but man… After playing that for 3 weeks, I found myself coming back here and never looking back. That game really made me appreciate GW2 better than before: Activities and radiant events everywhere you go, new content every two weeks, a transmutation system that allows custom appearances, different storylines, login rewards…

And to top it off, a forum where many members of the development team (not just the PR guy) engage with the players with a professional, yet down-to-earth attitude. Seriously ANET, thank you for making such a fun and interactive world (and with the living story, I know it’ll be going for a long time).

I was playing my human commoner storyline to get my black lion key when something itched me to talk to blaize during the bandit hideout covert operation.

What i got is this gem of a reference to Blazing Saddles and it’s villain casting scene:

They lost 4 million players and were still the strongest MMO in the West. It is a sub based game, convincing 4 mio people to pay a fee every month next to also buying a full price expansion tells a lot. They actually give numbers of active accounts, because they have enough players and faith in their product.

How many active players has GW2? Nope, no official statement. Accounts created doesn’t tell us kitten in a B2P game.

And seriously, ANet got the title for the story?
Look at Season 2, do you (or tentonhammer) even realize how little story there is? If story was a factor, than this is even worse a joke of a descision. Other MMOs offered way more story-driven gameplay updates, called content patches or expansions.

Look a LotRO, three major content patches (not even counting the expansion which hit end of 2013), tons of story driven gameplay + many regions + new class. How does GW2 come even close to that?

The LS is slow, meager and more offline than online. This should have been a negative criteria for GW2…

For God’s sakes, I’m not the one who gave ArenaNet the award. Calm down. It’s not like they called your baby ugly by giving someone else the title.

Take it up with Ten Hammers if you feel that strongly about it.

Gone to Reddit.

It takes a lot more skill to play dagger/dagger in WvW than it currently does in pvp. People have more balanced stats and they aren’t forced to fight on a tiny point. If you are good you will have a lot of fun with it, just remember to slot fgs for when you need to run from a zerg or chase someone down.

It is not possible for the Devs to fix the forum Search function. They are considering new Forum software in the future.

And yes, it has been reported hundreds of times. You can use Google to search the forums, if you so desire, but with reorganization, you will need to know what sub-forum the threads have been moved to.

Here is an example of how that works: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/FAQ-and-Sticky-Threads/first#post4622432

lol. Who plays WvW for ppt? Go play Risk if you want an objective based game.
Stop worrying about White Swords n stuff. Hit up your closest Enemy Commander. Ask for some fights. Fight said fights. ENJOY GUILD WARS 2. Revel in the lag, loot bags and the feeling of power over said enemy commander when you /sit on his/her corpse.

If you don’t play for PPT at all, there is a great map for you called EotM. Try it.

As for WvW, it is, and always has been, a combination of PPT, open field fights, and small roaming groups.

If Glint's Lair & Labyrinth Were Fractals...

TheBlackLeech.9360

Have you ever made a post on the forums where you aren’t complaining about something?

Glint’s Lair was great….. there was no doubt about that.

…however every great LS episode does not mean it needs to be recycled and tossed into FoTM. If they did recycle this LS into a fractal, I would not complain….. but encouraging Anet to “frankenstein” content is not something I want to see anyone doing, and I would much rather see “new” updates to FoTM not recycled ones. Besides that….. Anet made Echoes of the Past repeatable through your LS journal and you can experience it all over again whenever you like.

You also went into great detail about how this can’t be done solo….. but if you can’t complete this LS mission on your own, there are more important things you need to worry about.

3 Things you like about Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

  • The races. The Guild Wars universe is a breath of fresh air from all other MMORPGs out there. I get to play as actual unique species that look awesome, instead of the usual humans, green humans, humans with long ears, humans with glowing eyes, short humans, shorter humans, maybe short green humans, etc. Charr and Asura are definitely my favorites, and it’s especially great to finally get females characters that aren’t all about boobs.
  • The art style. Guild Wars 2 not only offers a unique art style, but consistently so. From the character design to the map design, there’s a lot of attention to detail, and nothing looks out of place (which is impressive considering the variety).
  • The gameplay. There’s just so many different things to do in Guild Wars 2 thanks to the very versatile and fluid gameplay. Combat is dynamic and satisfying (in PvP, anyway), and I never feel like I’m not in control of my character. Well, except maybe for that one time I tried sitting on a chair. That didn’t go too well.

My wish is to see more PvP stuff in the near future, possibly more maps and/or game types, or something with a “playing the game should be its own reward” mindset to it.

Fewer Laurels and Gold Coins

You get 13 more laurels and 17 less coins which is totally more rewarding. Coins are cheap and you have an entire month to put a tiny bit of your income to buy the 17 coins while you get 13 more laurels.

Why the 24 hour lockout?

1: In order to stop people from getting the full set of Ascended within hours of it being released.

2: In order to make crafting more profitable due to being able to sell said time-gated components.

It was more of making crafting profitable, not to stop people from getting it within hours of release. You can buy all the ascended materials your self and get all pieces rather quickly. It just costs a lot of gold, like 600.

Fewer Laurels and Gold Coins

Actually you can get more than 50 laurels per month, which would be an rather large increase from the 41 (which only was possible by doing the daily every single day and also only during the months that actually had 31 days. In February for example it would be as low as 38).

Every 28th day you get 2% permanent gold drop increase for your account. You also get rather much stuff from doing dailies which would most likely sell for more than those 12 gold coins you got with the old system.

How are they increasing the time it takes to make Ascended gear? I would say quite the opposite actually if you go with the Ascended Materials with the 28-day chest, since that gives quite a boost to the Ascended crafting deal.

I browsed through most of the posts and didn’t find anything on it.

I went into Silverwastes last night to do whatever and I went to the vendor to get more keys and extractors and found that the vendor now pulls crests from your bank. I only had 250 bandit crests on me but it showed that I had over 4200 to spend. I haven’t tried it with geodes yet, but I will assume that it is the same.

This is a great change, thank you! No more carrying and swapping them between characters. Just leave them all in the bank. Lets keep it like that for all items that serve as currency from now on.

Mystery Wintersday Song

There is this choir bell ensemble patrolling through Divinity and on 3 spots they play the wintersday tune and Tixx shouts a number.
I decided to follow them and noticed the numbers change as they go on.
Little over an hour later this is what I have written down:
3 2 4 2 3 3 2 3 1 3 3 4 3 1 3 2 1 2 4 3 1 1 1 3 2 2 2 3 4 1 1 2 4 1 4 2 1 4 2 4 2 3 3 1 1
The sequence then repeats, but I do not know where the start or end is.
I tried playing it on some of my instruments, but I cannot figure it out (and i’m bad at those too)

So any maestro’s out there?

Is Edge of the Mists WvW or PvE?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TPMN.1483

It’s WvW – unfortunately many individuals have treated it like a karma train.

The best commanders use it like a WvW map defend, Zerg hunt (which gets more bags [bags = loots] than a karma train).

The reason it became a karma train is due to the number of events that could be completed in a short amount of time after they removed karma from dungeons and other events where players would otherwise be found.

Depending which colour you are you may find people bunkering down in the main keep (corner of the map) to wipe incoming zergs. It’s really good fun with a party of 5 or so firing massive ACs onto the enemy and wiping the incoming zergs.

Most individuals now rely on Tequatl killing for karma (~30k) per completion and will do this on alts as it’s much faster than edge of the mists.

Anyone hurling abuse at you use the /report command or right click there name and click report for verbal abuse. Unfortunately people are people and make mistakes saying the wrong things.

I would be wary about saying that “all the bad players” are gone. While I’ve noticed my interactions with other players in GW2 are generally more friendly than in other games, I hesitate to make broad generalizations based on my personal experience. There are rude/mean jerks everywhere, in any fanbase. Go to the forums of any other MMO, they are bragging about how their community is the best ever and soooo nice.

That said, I do think that ArenaNet has very cleverly designed this game to encourage and reward teamwork, and to see other players as assets or allies.

  • Other players are not your enemies. They will not kill you.
  • No one can steal your kills, gathering nodes, or loot. Everyone gets credit for helping to kill a mob, but doesn’t steal the “tag.”
  • Anybody can revive anybody else. There’s no reason not to, and you get rewarded for doing it.
  • Dynamic events, world bosses, and champions are way better, faster, and easier, the more people are there contributing. Everybody wants to succeed, everybody has the same shared interests. Even if you are “fine” with the numbers you have, you would always like to have more. Somebody is almost always posting a waypoint link to the current world boss event in the Map chat, and links the waypoint to the next one up after it’s beaten.
  • There aren’t “factions.” Everybody is on the same side. Even in structured PvP, somebody who is your opponent in one match may be your ally in the next one. I’ve seen it happen, and complimented my “enemies” for their skill. I know trash talk and trolling happens, but I’ve seen just as many positive sporting attitudes, and even apologies for benefiting from 4v5 matches.
  • No “holy trinity” means no grief/drama about a tank or healer lording over the group, acting like they have clout in the party or are more important. If somebody abandons your group, you can just get literally anybody else, and it will be fine.
  • This is arguably the most “casual” MMORPG going, and attracts a different kind of audience than some other games. Of course, there are aspects of the game that hardcore, highly-skilled players can excel at. But you can have fun, see all the content, and advance very easily and in little time, compared to a traditional MMO. There is no down time. Grind is largely optional. Even if you aren’t the best, your efforts in open-world content and WvW are totally welcome, no matter your skill level.

Even if no single point seems like that big a deal on its own, I think that the combination of all these things working together nurtures an overall positive feeling toward other players, in a way that can be hard to quantify.

As far as communications, you guys are right: This is not how the information should have been provided, and we apologize. I also have to say that while the bug fix may be scheduled for Tuesday, there’s always a chance that the fix could fail QA review or something of that nature. So it is a priority, and it will be fixed, and most likely that will happen on Tuesday of next week.

Oh look yet another WvW is dead thread.
Obviously the people I see in WvW must be figments of my imagination, the queues I saw after reset on Friday were also figments of my imagination, in fact I must be a figment of my own imagination.
Paradox time -if you are reading this you don’t exist because I don’t exist because I WvW and see others in WvW but the OP says that WvW is dead therefore we weren’t there and don’t exist.
The alternative is that the OP is incorrect and WvW is not dead – which do you think is more likely?
