Error 10 is typically caused when you click the Join or Invite button without putting a name in the character name field.

Please try the following steps and let me know if you are successfully able to invite another member to your party.

Click on the party icon in the upper left of the screen. You should see a box that says character name with the buttons join and invite underneath.

In order to invite someone to your party their character name needs to be in the character name field. You can either type the characters name in or target them. Once their name is in the character name box, you can then click the invite button. Doing this will send them an invite which they can either approve or deny.

The mats will absolutely drop in WvW. In addition, generally speaking, we are putting a heavier emphasis on finding long-term solutions to redressing the reward imbalance between PvE and WvW. I can’t claim they will ever be 100% equal all the time, but we would like it to never be the case that you are choosing between playing WvW and getting good rewards. The two should be one in the same.

Does this mean we can also look forward to Ascended items from WvW badge rewards? I’m talking about back pieces and accessories of course.

I’m not going hold my breath on this one.

Purely from badges, no. We will be getting Ascended back items into WvW and accessories are already there. We’ve been focused on the Ascended items more generally and not specifically in WvW right now. However, we will make sure WvW is at parity with the rest of the game in terms of Ascended gear.

I take it that since legendaries will soon be able to have stat changes out of combat, it would be possible to do this for other gear?

I don’t see that happening and the main reason is that it sets Legendaries apart. It makes them cooler, it makes them more worth trying to get if you care about stats and not just looks. I could be proven wrong at some point, but I don’t expect us to head down that road.

P.S. No.

Sadly my money is that they will be a large advantage. This is based on how anet has handled things in the past (poorly). Being forced to pve to enjoy wvw is a bad idea.

My goal is to eliminate the latter scenario. And I promise to do as much as I can to meet that.

Next

  • Each gift is given on the first birthday of the character, not the account.
  • Birthday gifts appear in the in-game mailbox with The Guild Wars 2 Team as the sender.
  • Your in-game mailbox has a limit of 10 distribution mails, including those sent by other players, by the Black Lion Trading Company, or by the Guild Wars 2 Team. If you delete some of your distribution mails (those with an envelope graphic) to reduce the number in your mailbox, other mails that are queued up for you will drop into your mailbox.
  • If you are online when your character turns 1 year old, you may need to change maps to receive your gift.
  • Birthday gifts are soulbound, but the items inside are account bound and can be moved to—and used by—any character on the same account.
  • One of the items within the birthday gift raises your character level to Level 20, so use the item wisely.
  • Buffs, once activated, are per character, not per account.
  • We experienced an issue that affected the distribution of some birthday gifts. Some gifts may arrive a few days after the character’s actual birthday.
  • The replacement distribution may have given some players a second birthday gift. Using that gift is perfectly ok, and would not be considered an exploit.
  • We are not able to give second birthday gifts upon request.

Additions:

  • If you delete a birthday gift, we are not able to replace it.
  • Characters must remain in existence for one year. Re-rolls will not maintain their original birthdate.
  • We are not able to reset a character birthday.
  • Renamed characters still will receive a birthday gift.

Hi everyone,_

I’d like to inform you that Cliff has now left ArenaNet to follow a career opportunity that he couldn’t pass. Cliff has been too busy last week to post on the forum, but he wanted to express his gratitude to the API community and tell you that he had lots of fun interacting with all of you. _(update: see his message at the bottom of this post)

But this is not the end of the Guild Wars 2 API, because ArenaNet will continue to expand the API and support its community of developers. In fact, another programmer who’s been working with Cliff long before the transition will be shortly here to take over Cliff’s role on the API Development subforum. So be ensured that it may not be a big change, we in fact have more developers helping with the API behind the scene.

Thanks everyone for your participation to this community.

EDIT: in fact Cliff wanted to share the following with the API community:

_Hi everyone,

As Stephane said, I’m leaving ArenaNet, but I’ve had an incredible time here. I’ve wanted to work on public API since I started here, and I’m really happy that we’ve been able to start releasing them. I’ve been thrilled with the positive response to the APIs, and the community you’ve formed around creating apps. I’ll be eagerly watching to see how both the API and API apps develop in the future. Thanks for your support and enthusiasm while we’ve worked together._

I think it’s safe to assume that the chart for Day 25 and 26 would indicate that a handful of players sold multiple Dusks to unique buyers. That’s far from being able to “control” the market. As for the Legend, looks like it’s one seller per buyer.

I can only conclude that a few players panicked on news about Legendary weapon upgrades, and went out and bought Dusks. This move was just speculation that the prices would skyrocket. It happens in the real world markets too.

Hi All,

I’ll be active on the forums, answering your questions, and reading feedback and suggestions. So please keep participating and let us know what you think.

My short term goal is to support the existing un-authenticated APIs while working on our new OAuth2-based authenticated APIs.

As a former community manager for Kabam games, I’ll tell you right now that this guy only knows half of what is actually going on. Directors and producers don’t tell community managers anything because like this guy, he posts only part of the information online and causes a ****-storm. So, take what he says a grain of salt. All we know, now, is that we will be able to switch MF gear to another kind of gear. We don’t know anything beyond that.

I am sorry you had a bad experience in your former job. Here our developers actually talk to us and give us information we need. So what I am posting here is coming straight from the people working on the changes.

To answer a few more questions:

  • If you currently have listed an item with MF on the Trading Post, they will be returned to you, as they become account bound.
  • Upgrade components that currently give MF bonus will be updated with new functionality.
  • All existing drops and crafting recipes that have created Magic Find gear will be replaced with new stat combos.

I still dont understand why you can charge only one per day. I mean… it’s already limited due to the fact that theres only the nodes in home instances left, so why couldnt they just remove that additional limitation? You have to admit, it’s really kind of silly.

because you can buy as many as you want…

Ascended Weaponry: Stats?

They pretty much deliberately release too little information to avoid a riot.

Look at it this way:

1. Release no information, and people get bored, go check out other games, maybe play some, but likely just take more time off. Forums become a ghost town (bad for business)

2. They release just enough information to get the forums to explode with activity, and get people SEARCHING wildly for more information unable to find it, but being interested enough to look and get into the game to maybe horde everything and anything in prep.

3. They release all the info, stats, required crafting items, time-lines for creation, status of bound vs. unbound. People destroy the economy overnight, players freak out and scream like crazy for a week before the patch, causing mass hysteria. Nerf this, buff that, but what about this combo???

So which option would you choose?

I prefer more information up front so I can calmly theorycraft, but too many people are unable to take information as anything other than biblical fact, and explode when anything changes or anything additional gets added.

So they release just enough information to spark debate, and then calmly refuse to answer any specific questions on the forums for a week.

The market is being manipulated. Did you notice that The Legend has only a quantity of 2 on the TP? I can put Dusk on the TP for 5k but that doesn’t mean the price really rose to that. Always look at the quantity with the price.

omg I wish, everything would be the way it was at launch, 20 silver for 100 gems, and everything would be affordable again…never gonna see it happen, no way they would let that happen again

O.o I didn’t have 20 silver at launch. It took me ages to get my first gold since you only got a few copper for each reward. 20 silver then is like several gold now.

The reason it won’t happen is not because “they won’t let it happen” but because everyone has more money now. Some people have a LOT more money. Since the price of gems is dependent on supply and demand, how can it be 20 silver for 100? One person now could buy thousands of gems. Maybe hundreds of thousands at that price. There is no way it could be so cheap when the average person has so much more money as compared to launch.

Clarification on ascended weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: silvermember.8941

silvermember.8941

“· Legendary Weapon Updates: Legendary weapons will receive a stat boost, an Offensive Infusion slot to align with new Ascended weapons and additional functionality, among other things.” preview from Kotaku.

Personally I think it is a good idea, it forces players to choose between sigil and extra damage. It is sort of like the green weapons in guild wars 1, technically better but kittenter because you could not modify.

First, it’s not a good idea at all. Builds are already enough unimaginative for most profs and people, and sigils are a nice fine-tuning that helps to add a layer of choices.

Second, in the case of Legendaries, it’s forced, not a choice, to go with Ascended power level.

Third, i see the screenshot of ascended rifle. Aside any observation on the skin itself (not too bad but not my cup of tea)…. I makes me think the recipes will probably create complete weapons. So…what about keeping the skins of my current equipment? I’ll be forced to get a crapload of T-stones from Cash Shop? Or there will be the option to craft a “upgrade to ascended stat” item to apply at my exotics? Anet clarify please.

ADDED: I know for sure legenderies will have the ability to change their stats whenever outside of combat so, that makes up for the lack of sigil, imo. btw I could be wrong about ascended weapons not having sigils because the statement is not very clear.

Actualy it is a good idea, because it means Exotics are not totally worthless. It will force the player to choose between higher stats (which ultimately doesn’t make much difference in the grand scheme of things) and more customization of armor and weapons.

Again it worked extremely well in Guild wars 1, I see no reason why it shouldn’t work AND it doesn’t make exotic totally worthless.

As u know im pro. ~Tomonobu Itagaki

They need to make precursors actually expensive, so that it’s not as simple as, “Lol -Crafts 1 Orialchum Axe head and Handle, precursor made.-”

I asked about this today at a Business Team meeting. Those who purchased the Collector’s Edition are valued customers, for sure! But remember, there were a lot of goodies in that box, and it’s not customary, even if necessarily good business, to continue to give free items for a purchase made a year ago. I can’t think of any other business that would do that, that would say “I see you purchased a mixer a year ago. We’ve developed a handy new accessory and we’re sending it to you for free.”

And by the way, I’m proud to say that at the time it was released, our CE was hailed as “the best in the industry” with having so many nice in-game and physical features.

Sure, it’d be nice to continue to get free stuff for a purchase made in the past. I could see why you would want to get these things for free, but I hope you understand why that isn’t going to happen. Keep in mind that the items are available in the Gem Store or on the Trading Post, so you can get them for in-game gems, in any case I can think of.

72 Hour Ban for Unacceptable Name

So I got a 72 hour suspension for an unacceptable name, and I didn’t even get an option to name change it. I had the name, “I Spread A I D S” for my necromancer. The funny thing is that I got disconnected from a solo queue tourney game in PvP which resulted in a 4v5 for my team. I know that name is appropriate, but A I D S could be anything. Can I get a chance to get a name change, because a 72 Hour suspension seems too severe. I see a bunch of other names that haven’t been reported which are worse than mine. Also if you’re gonna disconnect people from a game, do it after the tourney match.

Edit: I submitted a ticket, but I wanted to post here as well. Also here is my ticket number #130826-002448

First, you have a horribly offensive name back in April. That was your warning.

Second, the name you chose this time is again, very offensive. Do you really think people want to see that name, people who may have a friend or loved one who suffers or died from that disease? Our players come from all walks of life — genders, cultures, ages — and we ask that you use sensitivity in your name choices, if not a little sense!

Third, never, ever submit a ticket and post immediately in the forums. That’s rude, it takes time, it doesn’t give support time to answer the issue that you submitted in the ticket, and it is therefore utterly pointless. If you’re hoping to get public support for your cause, obviously, you didn’t.

Fourth, if you see a bad name, report it. Don’t use it as an excuse “Well, mine’s not so bad if his is worse!”

Fifth, the filter is not intended as a license to offend.

Is lag no longer a concern?

in WvW

Posted by: MRA.4758

MRA.4758

No other MMO has done 300+ man battles without lag.

DAOC lagged
WAR lagged
Planetside lagged
Planetside II lagged
EVE lagged (now they force the lag with time dilation)

so why are we expecting Arenanet to solve a problem no one else has really solved yet?

Because ANet has earned a lot of trust and raised pretty high expectations with the high technical quality of the first Guild Wars. GW1 was the technically most robust MMO in the market. (~8h downtime in 7 years? ‘Nuff said.) This was, of course, made possible due to the solely instanced architecture of the world maps, but the robustness of GW1 is still a very impressive achievement and don’t I know of any similar example in the market. If you had asked me 18 month ago which company would be able to pull off an absolutely problem free MMO launch, I would have answered ArenaNet without a second thought.

Ironically, from my (outside) perspective, it seems to be the heritage from the GW1 engine that is the primary limiting factor for solving many of the performance/lag problems of the game.

The game you are probably looking at is Planetside which can have more players, but the combat is REALLY simple by comarison. DAoC is probably the closest but it doesn’t have stacked conditions, heavy stacked boons, combo fields, dodging, etc so its combat is more static. To date no game exists (that I know of) that can field as many players as GW2 with such a high level of dynamic combat.

Quoted for truth.
