Like Seera said, a race change is quite a huge logistical undertaking from a coding point of view. It may not even be possible at all, or if it is it would take significant work to implement and test for any bugs. There’s a lot of things that could go seriously wrong if bugs slipped through.
Rerolling is very easy in the game already (account bound ascended gear, shared skins, titles, AP… plenty of level up tomes and XP wrist and boosters are available, only lock are traits and waypoints/map completion) so I’m personally happy just creating a new character. I understand it’d be convenient to have a race change option, but at least the alternative isn’t so bad.
In the meantime, in matters of balance, consider working with the specialist in the section you want to see balance changes made to get your comments into their reports!
If you’re downloading GW2 from scratch and it keeps getting stuck at 0kb/s all you have to do is rename the GW2Setup file to GW2 and that will fix the problem
You can join the same guild, no problems. They all changed it with the big patch last september.
The only thing that will not work is doing WvWvW together, since everyone has to fight for his homeworld (= server).
Anything else like guild missions, guild chests, etc. will be shared across all worlds.
For example: my homeworld is an EU-World (Far Shiverpeaks), while my guild was founded on a german world (Drakkar Lake).

If you want CoE berserker gear, you can also get it from PvP. If you have done the story, the reward track is always selectable.
How rude of ANet to expect us to play with other people in this MMOrpg..

I like it , but i’d rather see a solid build saver first and than this. We need the build saver badly.
This convenience was already added with the mere existence of skill point scrolls in the first place. Post 80 characters get far more scrolls than they earn of their own points. Seems I get more than 50 a week.
Additionally, the mastery systems is going to take the place of earning skill points, meaning post 80 characters in the future will not have excess skill points to bother with. Skill point scrolls will be the only method of getting SP beyond the level cap.
Anything that you purchase with skill points is account bound, so you can already use those excess points for any character as is.
Three reasons this would be completely unnecessary.
You would have better luck asking for Skill Points to be made account bound. They did it with karma, and with the existence of the scrolls as is, it is virtually meaningless to keep them character bound at this point in time. I can easily get enough scrolls in a week to unlock all skills on a new character. Soul bound points no longer makes much sense when it can be bypassed so easily.
oh for crying out loud, for all those people talking about Charr posture and what was and wasn’t in GW1, may i introduce you to Pyre:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Pyre_Fierceshot.jpg
This isn’t a new thing for Charr regarding their posture.
Soraya Mayhew – Thief
Melissa Koris – Engie – SF for Life!
Ummm…what? Do you understand how mammalian anatomy works?
The hunched posture is necessary for a species that both runs on all fours and bipedally. Their bipedal stance allows them to manipulate tools and everything else, but their skull can’t mount on the neck in two different manners (for bipedal and quadrupedal stances). If you don’t believe me, lower yourself onto all fours and look straight ahead or even up. While moving. You will probably hurt yourself. This is why the charr spine inserts into the skull at the back instead of the bottom like with humans. Because it inserts in this manner, their bipedal stance needs to accommodate it, hence the hunched posture.
If anything, the charr posture makes them much more beastial than any other “beast” race in a game.

As a new player, I kinda like it? I mean it is not the end of the world. I am in no rush, I am enjoying the story, helping out, having my finest duck being taking out by my jerk of a friend. Having that jerk kidnapped…
I mean is it really that bad? Grinding mobs? The first few days I have…
Worked on a farm.
Chased a wild bull with some wasp attacking me.
Showed some grunts how to shoot a gun.
Went in a bandit cave to clear it out.
Found a random cave troll that had me screaming help.
Went into a swamp, where a random Kingdom hearts looking monster came out of the ground and one shotted me.
Had to fight a underwater creature, that was scary.
Had to protect some farmer tools from little creatures that sound like little girls.
Found out that bears don’t like me, and hit hard.
Saw a gaint tree monster and was rooted to death.
…How can you be bored?

The Silverwastes would be the place you’re talking about.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/SilverwastesHow much gold would be gained in silverwastes in average per hour?
Around 5-10. If you’re breach hopping, depends on the skill of your map. If you’re chest farming, depends on the commander and how fast people shovel.
ANet likes making headgear, shoulder armor, gloves, and boots because they have lower clipping probabilities than torso and leg armor pieces. My complaint is that they give us too much oversized and over-crazy gear. Believe it or not, ANet, not every armor piece needs to be gigantic with huge spikes sticking out all over the place for people to like them. This post is a request for simple armor pieces.
Most of these suggestions would be far easier to implement than current Gem Store offerings. As such, I would expect to see a lot of them, and at reasonable prices.
HEAD
No headgear should ever remove the character’s hair!
- A simple eyes-only mask would go over well. Like Robin Hood is often pictured. Or Robin from the 1960’s “Batman” TV show. Very simple. Not a fancy-schmancy Marie Antionette French party mask.
- Harem-style veils could be cool. Something very much like the current medium weight Ranger masks, except translucent.
- Circlets are nice, but probably hard to make without removing the hair if designed to be visible all the way around the head (like the Laurels). I suggest making a selection primarily for the forehead, that disappear into the hair over the ears (like the many pairs of glasses we have). From simple leather bands, to fancy tiaras.
- Earrings are long overdue. Danglers, hoops, studs, cuffs, you name it.
SHOULDERS (Neck)
- The Winter Scarf would have sold much better if it were of reasonable size. The massive thing they released caused all sorts of hairstyle clipping, and buries some characters up to their nose. (The fourth Doctor Who had a 12-foot long scarf that left more of his face revealed!) We need more scarves. Smaller sized. More (dyable) patterns.
- Necklaces! Where are necklaces and chokers and neckerchiefs? (Charr and barbarian-types need a studded leather dog collar!) Dog tags! Primitive necklaces of beads and claws! Even if many went hidden underneath armor, I think people would still buy them just so they don’t have to hide their shoulder armor all the time.
ANet’s track record on shoulders is abysmal – giant ones that cover everything from ears to elbow and float in midair are commonplace. This has got to stop.
GLOVES
- Gloves keep getting overblown. All we see are bulky, full gauntlets going from fingertip to elbow. My thief can’t rob anyone while wearing Astronaut gloves. Give us small, simple metal and leather bracers covering just the forearm without all the spikes and protrusions.
- Bracelets! As with necklaces, bracelets and simple armbands are long overdue. One wrist or two. One bracelet or many. Handwraps like the GW1 Monks. These are a great solution for people who want to go gloveless, but don’t want to have to hide their hand armor all the time.
BOOTS
- Okay, I’m not really calling for boots here. We’re talking minimalist. No giant whomping-through-a-snowbank army boots. That means shoes. The men and ladies need some simple below-the-ankle offerings that don’t make them look like they have size twenty feet.
- Sandals. Simple flip-flops. Lace up the legs. Simple. Easy. Wanted.
- Leg bracers. Like the wrist bracers; a simple metal or leather shin guard that covers the shin only … not the foot or the knee. It can wrap clear around, or be open in back held on with straps or laced strings.
Long have the people called for a “Hide” checkbox on footwear. I think some of these offerings would alleviate much of that need.

I had this issue until I started playing on windowed fullscreen.
Consider it this way:
Heroic Edition ($10):
18 Slot Mithril Box
your choice of Primeval, Krytan, or Profane armor skin (each worth 500 gems)
10 Experience boosters
Digital Deluxe Edition ($15):
18 Slot Mithril Box
your choice of Primeval, Krytan, or Profane armor skin (each worth 500 gems)
10 Experience boosters
Mistfire Wolf elite skill
Miniature Rytlock
one Golem Banker (lasts two weeks) for every character you create
1000 influence points for the guild you’re in
5000 PvP rank points.
Heroic Edition plus Digital Deluxe Upgrade ($20, assuming you pay $10 for 800 gems):
two 18 Slot Mithril Box
your choice of Primeval, Krytan, or Profane armor skin (each worth 500 gems)
a second choice of Primeval, Krytan, or Profane armor skin (each worth 500 gems)
20 Experience boosters
Mistfire Wolf elite skill
Miniature Rytlock
one Golem Banker (lasts two weeks) for every character you create
1000 influence points for the guild you’re in
5000 PvP rank points.
+300 gems which are left over.
Whatever you choose, just remember you’re getting a lot more game for far less than the typical “Triple A” these days.
Edit: yes, and the 300 gems you can apply to other things except Black Lion Keys because they aren’t worth it.

~Krunch Bloodrage, Looking For Group
Interestingly, this is comparable to having the protection boon on you at all times. Or in other words, to a berserker protection is worth something like 1000 toughness. (To someone in toughness-primary gear, it’s worth more like 1400)
This is funny and makes you think. Should we buff Toughness ? When will it become better than Protection? How to balance Active defense (Protection) and passive (toughness)? If you can maintain Protection for ever, Toughness is obsolete… Will buffing Toughness make content faceroll (if Toughness is just so good it negates over 50…60…70% of damage)? Will Protection then be useless? Combine both for 100% damage mitigation?
I really like five alert, attentive players with solid internet connections who know their profession/build and the content being attempted.
I’ll settle for anybody who listens to directions and will fess up when they don’t know something. I can train that kind of anybody.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
Warrior – stable class, easy to get started but the skill cap is decently high and can do be pretty epic after you get used to mechanics. Also is in a nice place in every game mode.
Guardian – basically the same as warrior but focusses on active defenses and support, fun class to play in every game mode and is just about always the backbone of the group
Engineer – GW2s macgyver. Nades, bombs, flamethrowers, turrets, etc. One of the strongest classes right now in every game mode. But takes a bit to get used to it and has a somewhat steeper learning curve than the other profs.
Ranger – archer with a pet, one of the easiest classes to get started with but sorta tough to be “good” at because most rangers use the same predictable rotation. Also has spotter (precision increase for group) and an ice spirit which gives a nice damage boost to groupmates
Thief – fast paced and high risk/reward class. Master of stealth and mobility. Also is one of ,if not, the top dps profs
Mesmer – their job is basically to mind kitten the enemy, you get clones, stealth, and have portals that are very useful for getting a team between points, does decent dps with sword and has reflects that are a necessity for some fights
Necromancer – right now a bunch of the community looks down in necro, but in the right hands it can bring a good bit of dps and wells can save a group from getting eaten up by confditions. … also, fear a zerg off a cliff and you get to watch your chat get filled with rage PMs
Ele – crap ton of dps, water fields, fire fields, fields fields fields. If you can stay alive with ele, you can wipe groups. And if your team is in trouble you can swap to water and keep them alive
I’ve played all of them and tbh like them all, just try them all if you have to, each proffesion can hold its own and has its own thing to bring to the table.
Why limit it to medium? If you implement a system like that, heavy should also have a chance to salvage into cloth, as it is required in the craft of it.
True, but it might bring too much silk into the market, and essentially crash it, causing prices to fall to vendor value again. Also that would mean that 100% of armor drops providing cloth, instead of 66%.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
What about adding Nodes for it?
there is a node we can buy for our home instance which is great but its random..
why not add just a handful of tanning racks around outposts in the world that would give level appropriate mats like Jute, cloth and silk
This would not dramatically increase availability but it should be enough to encourage more frequency to lower populated maps and outposts which could also lure more people to specific events as well and encourage people to open contested WP’s and areas more often etc
Ok I know there is a discussion about the prices of silk. However with 35,628 pages of back and forth, it’s getting difficult to keep track of all thats going on, and arguments are just being repeated.
So instead of discussing the reasons behind the prices, the disparity of mats and time required for light ascended armor, lets talk solutions to the problem.
Several of the solutions already presented, and discussed at length are:
Decrease the amount of silk required for damask.
Increase the amounts of other mats required for ascended medium/heavy.
Introduce a reliable method for obtaining silk.
Lets try not to bring those back, and start another circular discussion about the pros and cons of each. Instead lets come up with new solutions. looking at the problem from another angle and devising a new solution.
As others, and myself, have suggested in the other thread adding cloth as a salvage drop to medium armor, would increase the supply, which in turn would have an effect on the TP prices, as well as make it more viable for “farming”.
What other solutions that we haven’t looked at, that could possibly be viable?
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
Please, Arenanet, can’t you add a toggle off option for the outfit’s pauldrons ?
Everytime I see a really nice outfit, that is ruined by those awfully large pauldrons, I cringe. Can’t you at least add an option to toggle off the pauldrons ?
I’m sure I’m not the only person who’d rather not buy an outfit at all rather than having to see my character running around with pauldrons the size of his head (or even bigger, if you play with a male Sylvari, they’re often oversized).
EDIT : It’s NOT a thread to complain about outfits not being 6 part armors. It’s just about asking for a hide option for the shoulder parts.

You’d have to contact support.
Great series so far, I prefer video guides
I run a Guardian as my main and love it! I can take him anywhere, do some impressive dps and take more than a few hits before going down.
I’d say the key to bolstering allies is through your virtues (F-keys) and utilities. You can choose to go further into your Virtues trait line, for example, and really crank up your group support skills.
My weapons sets are Greatsword/Sword+Focus. GS does some amazing damage, but you can trait for extra damage for sw+foc (e.g. Scepter Power in Zeal gives 10% more dmg).
Staff has some nice group support skills, but I found it limits my dmg output too much, so I carry it with me, but only use it when I need greater range, and only in groups. I tried the Hammer but didn’t like it, just didn’t suit my play style.
Your survivability is better with two-handed weapons, probably because you’re using off-hand focus or shield? I prefer focus myself because skill #5 still provides an all-round shield while #4 does good damage.
I never liked it the Mace, I found it a bit misleading since it is your starter weapon and stuck with it only because I thought ‘there must be a reason…’, but I switched to sword, then Greatsword /Sw+Foc, as fast as I could while levelling.
I’d say try the different weapons and see what you like and what suits your type of play. You’ll settle on your favourites soon enough. :-)
