I came across Henry once. It was late, the snow could be described as a lifetime movie xmas special, light and the smell of Swiss miss (or swiss mix as midwesterns call it, not sure why) in the air. Henry stood there, blade blood soaked with a look of satiety on his face after slaughtering many roamers and you tube streamers.

I asked him “when does it end Henry……when does it end, when will justice come to wvw?”. He grinned at me and said “Do you know how many people allow the word no to stop them from greatness?”.

I never saw Henry after that cold December night. I took his words and went out roam the battle lands alone for many more years till I realized………my fiance had a honey do list the size of Texas and I had housework to do.

I really miss playing a tank like character that can offer some decent damage reduction, or offer some sustainability to keep health pools from bottoming out. I’ve got 3 80s, a Necro, Gaurdian, and Ranger.

Reapers great and all but I’m not sure how much extra healing I offer with the blood trait line, it would also be cool if there were a way to transfer conditions to minions through Death Magic for the whole party as well but I’m not sure that’s possible; still doesn’t have that good ole tank feel though.

I’m frankly not aware how a Druid really works other than it heals supposedly.

Gaurdian my old main I had hoped I could tank with but there are no one hand shield options that would work that way, I suppose there’s per a protection with the Hammer but what else can I consistently offer for defensive support?

I asked in guild once regarding Gaurdian and I was just told equip a Staff for Might and a Speed Buff ( that’s just depressing).

I’m probably just playing the wrong game.

Linking was a nice idea but currently the “population balance” that is happening on DH results in being outnumbered 10v1. This isn’t fun, it’s not competitive. It really serves no purpose and is a terrible experience.

Transfer and make it 11v0 so that one server dies and Anet realize they should do what should have done earlier. Merge, dont link.

Why are you tormenting yourself? You are clearly the last person on the server. Otherwise it wouldnt be 10v1.

The walls not appearing correctly allowing some to walk through is a known bug that will be fixed in the next release.

Also, the Wildcreek and Rogue’s Quarry changes were deliberate.

For this update, the mesmer is receiving mostly baseline utility changes. Both the Phantasmal Disenchanter and Defender skills now have on-cast effects to gain a little more immediate effect and to differentiate the utility skill from the Mental Defense trait. Mirror Blade’s last bounce has also returned, offering higher damage to power builds.

  • Mirror Blade: Increased the number of bounces produced by this attack from 3 to 4.
  • The Prestige: The number of burning stacks have been increased from 1 to 3 stacks for 3 seconds.
  • Illusionary Mage: The recharge of the mage’s attack has been reduced from 5 seconds to 4 seconds. Burning stacks have been increased from 1 to 2 stacks, with the duration reduced from 6 to 3. The missile velocity of the mage’s attack has been increased by 33%.
  • Signet of Midnight: This skill now delivers an unblockable attack and will no longer apply blindness through evade. This skill now applies 10 stacks of vulnerability as well as cripple for 5 seconds, in addition to blinding enemies.
  • Mirror Images: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 45 seconds to 30 seconds.
  • Arcane Thievery: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 45 seconds to 35 seconds.
  • Mantra of Distraction: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 20 seconds to 12 seconds.
  • Power Lock: The recharge between uses has been reduced from 5 seconds to 4 seconds.
  • Mantra of Resolve: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 20 seconds to 15 seconds.
  • Mantra of Concentration: The stability duration has been increased from 2 seconds to 3 seconds per activation.
  • Phantasmal Defender: This utility skill now applies protection for 4 seconds in a radius around the mesmer. The damage reduction from this illusion has been reduced from 50% to 33%.
  • Phantasmal Disenchanter: This utility skill now delivers an additional attack when it is initially cast, removing boons from enemies and conditions from allies in a radius around the target.
  • Phantasmal Haste: Fixed a bug that prevented this trait from working with Illusionary Avenger.
  • Echo of Memory: Updated the skill fact for Echo of Memory’s duration.
  • Ineptitude: This trait will now track the internal cooldown for confusion application on a per-target basis. The blind earned from dodging and evading will now properly apply confusion as well.
  • Illusionary Inspiration: This trait will no longer activate Signet of Inspiration when phantasm casts are interrupted.

I just tried out repair hammers in the last few days. They are really no big deal. You end up using all your supply with them in less than a minute and if the siege weapon is under heavy fire, it still dies. So not only did your team lose the siege, but you wasted supply.

There are problems

1) the armor
Unless the race shares a body plan with another race, the current armor in the game will be inaccessible to it. When ANet gave the quote about how difficult it is to design armor, apparently even two similar body plans such as human and sylvari have to be designed separately. So if that’s true it would need to be identical body plan to another race to work, which greatly limits the new race.
2) story
How could it fit into the personal story without bending lore into a pretzel? One could say, leave it out, however new players from then on are going to be confused. They’ll have 6 races they can make but only 5 have the personal story. There will be an unending stream of forum threads and ingame questions asking why no personal story for race X. And I guarantee the new players won’t be happy that their character is blocked from doing the personal story for what they will consider to be dumb reasons.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I like this idea but its really “treating the symptom” solution. It be better if they weren’t useless to the point we have to vendor them.

I really hope that a sigil/rune rework is coming down the pipes to where you can unlock a rune/sigil by salvaging or equipping a weapon/armor with it. Then whenever you go to salvage anything with a rune or sigil it gives you a single type of material as currency to switch them freely.

It would be nice if somehow we could flag them as junk, so with one click they would be removed with the rest of the largely useless items.

I don’t want them flagged as ‘junk’ — the game’s nomenclature is confusing enough without letting us redefine it.

Instead, I’d like to see it work more like the right-click on salvage kits:

  • Sell all junk
  • Sell all minor runes|sigils.
  • Sell all player-defined trash (which would be chosen in the [f11] panel’s list of options)
John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

The Vendors should have an option which allows the player to quickly vendor all the Minor Runes and Sigils in their inventory.

Besides being a button at the merchant you could also put a UI option when you right click on a minor rune or sigil that says “Vendor all minor”

This would greatly alleviate trash in a player’s inventory.

Constantly salvaging leaves lots of this sort of unnecessary junk behind. No one uses them anymore. Just see how many are sitting unpurchased in the TP. Some Minor Runes like Grenth are up to 42,000 wasted runes sitting the TP which no one wants.

GW2 should have been human only.

Watching WP’s recent video about new races really made me crystallize some thoughts that I’ve had for a long time.

The game is struggling with the production of cosmetic items and one of the main reasons is the fact that it has too many races.
The main culprits here are the Charr – but every race’s particularities have some part in slowing down the process of creating new armor.
This is a problem because armor and cosmetics are the primary driving force that keeps people going in GW2. It’s not gear grild – it’s skin grind – and we’ve got very very little skins.

The game released with a good abundance of skins – but ever since we’ve had too little come into the game either through the gem store or other means.

That aside I also feel the story could have been much more interesting, focused and well written if they didn’t have to write a neutral 5-race story and by doing so distanced themselves quite a lot from the franchise’s original lore and setting.

I don’t hate the non-human races – In fact they could have had just as much story and lore expanding their stories in the game but the only playable race should have been limited to humans – for practical reasons.
Humans are already the most popular race in-game and were so even close after launch.

I’m actually curious how others feel. Do you like the fact that we have 4 other races even if it means we get armor very very very rarely? Do you think it was worth it?

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

Why do skills have both a cd and energy cost?

See I be just find if the Revy’s skills had one or the other, However that is not the case. The Revy’s weapon and utility skills have both energy cost to use them and a cd after using them. I mean what kinda kitten is that? At first I though the Revy played like the thief were the weapon skills cost initiative and the utility skills had cd, but no the Revy suffers from having an energy cost and when you use any of its skills a cd. Sure you can argue that Revy has the ability to swap from legend to legend and has access to more skills then the other classes, but so does the ele and they don’t have a energy cost and a cd to worry about.

Removing revealed doesn’t solve the problem and only buffs D/P further ahead than the rest. Drop BP and just bound/HS spam to victory.

I know you’re adamant about removing revealed, but it’s an essential part of the game currently for general profession balance across more than just the thief, too.

Removing revealed would massively cut the skill floor on the thief (and it’s already ridiculously low as-is on the daredevil) and would do literally nothing to improve high-skill play potential.

Overwatch is a great game for the strategically challenged. If you’re struggling in PvP, I’d recommend Overwatch to start with and then later you can move back up to Gw2. It’s great for building fundamental team-play awareness because there’s less focus on builds and more on positioning.

If you lose to guardians, you’re just getting outplayed, really. The class is 100% balanced. That’s why solo queuers are only queuing with guardian.

I know you tried to be sarcastic, but turth is class is not 100% balanced it still need some boosts to be competitive at esl levels.

And yes I prefer having dhs in team over newbie players that can’t do a kitten.

btw guardians don’t have reflects, maybe reflect shot.

It seems clear that the WvW game mode was heavily influenced by the RvR game mode from Dark Ages of Camelot. That game made a lot of mistakes with their expansions, but one expansion that worked really well was the addition of Darkness Falls (DF), and I think a similar idea could work here.

(For those not familiar; it was a WvW enabled dungeon with the best cash farm in the game at the time, but no objectives to capture. The trick was that you could only enter if your realm controlled the most Keeps across all of the battlegrounds. Once a realm would gain access by taking a keep that put them in the lead, players would flock to the dungeon to clear out the previous owners, who could stay until dead, but could not re-enter the zone).

This zone had two main benefits for the health of the game: it helped to draw PvE players in RvR to gain access to the DF zone for the realm(s) that are losing, and it gave the winning team an incentive to leave the primary RvR zones in preference of farming DF.

There are some potential downsides; in cases of severe imbalance some servers may never have a chance to see the zone, and there is the potential for intra-server conflict between the die-hard WvW players and the PvE players who are only there to open access to the zone. The first wouldn’t be as bad is it was on DAoC (they had permanent fixed pairings, whereas with dynamic pairings in GW2 the matches are much fairer). The second should be somewhat self-correcting over time, as insufficient WvW players to defend means that you don’t get to keep the door open and will soon face the zone being invaded as another server gets access, and PvE players will need to learn WvW tactics in order to actually open the zone.

Obviously the specific mechanics involved are flexible (instead of total number of Keeps held it could be PPT that determines access, or control of SMC, ruins, etc), but I think the idea has some merit.

Players determine population balance. As long as players can move and have motive to move, population balance is a lie.

Furthermore, who cares about the Glicko system for WvW? It’s a failure that makes boring yet stale matches.

The weapon naturally sucks because it is slow. If it traded some of its power for speed in PvP and WvW, it would automatically be better.

issue isn’t generally for duels but the +1’s & +2’s are absolutely killer. With no blocks/evades/invuns you are basically taking full bursts and with the current state of the pwr creep necros are just not viable without a solid team to control +1 situations. If i’m fighting on point vs lets say a druid (which i have no issues with controlling the fight on point) i will eventually kill them or have them run, but if my team isnt paying attention and i get +1 by a theif/rev/DH/Mesmer/War/2nd druid….i’m toast. 1 – 600 range leap with no evade property = FML. Wurm was viable last season but can easily be pre-bursted or is insanely hard to cast during battle (needs a Cast time reduction imo).

Without a good team to support you, which is what 90% of the games are like at the moment, I feel this gif perfectly describes what playing a necromancer feels like…

Honestly, I’ve played necromancers in PVP for probably half a year now. I really enjoy it, but there’s just way too many hard counter classes for us. Sure I can play it safe and kite 24/7, but when there’s a good team on the other side there’s nowhere you can run with no mobility and stability…

I hope we get some tweaks next expansion/season.
