And another thing, you need to look at is playstyles
If you have three players, all with 3000 hours in game…
And one of them constantly farms and has a high kill rate per hour
And the other only runs dungeons
And the 3rd just does WvW
Well, who is going to have the most rolls at loot? The first dude is going to have a greater chance at rolling epic loot that makes him rich.
Kill/rate per hour is an extremely important factor.
So the post just got stickied, which leads me to believe it’s 99% true.
The fact that one of the mods cannot confirm or deny just shows this.
If it wasn’t true, why did they stick it?
What I think happened was Anet’s marketing team PM’d the mods at the subreddit to sticky it as part of the hype train. And of course, they request that they do not confirm or deny. If they were to confirm it, it would be spoiling the whole ordeal.
A caution about the data-mined .dat. Some of that stuff might not be in the next update.
We’ve already seen LFG tool stuff in the .dat and that’s not in the game at all. I wouldn’t necessarily assume everything in the .dat is coming in this update.
You gambled. You lost.
After what the OP posted, you’re still gonna defend Arena.Net?
He’s not defending ArenaNet in any way. He’s just pointing out the truth.

Its RNG, what did you expect?
You had just spend 400G betting in your luck. Almost a precursor, so… you are doing things wrong. Soon A-net will introduce a form to craft precursors, so… stop wasting Gold guy.
I remember seeing a qoute by Ghostcrawler (one of WoW’s lead devs) when asked what was the biggest suprise he has had in developing MMOs.
He said that what suprised him is players choose efficency over fun. They would, by choice, doing something boring but more rewarding than something entertianing but less rewarding.
ArenaNet, in spite of their grand vision of creating what they hoped would be the greatest MMORPG ever created, did not take human nature into account. People will look for the most efficient ways of getting what they want, which by the way isn’t going out and seeing the world. They’re all looking for rewards. They’re looking for the materialist kind in fact. One of the most common complaints is that doing a piece of content yields poor rewards and isn’t worth the effort. Because for them, the content itself and the sense of accomplishment from completing it isn’t the real reward. People have lost sight of what rewarding meant in terms of actually playing the game.
you’ll have to get 5000 and 10,000 achievement points and use those 800 gems to buy the slot then :P
I don’t know why they would nerf it though. As long as people aren’t interfering in event completions then its most probably all intended.
I’m keen to get down there and have a go of those champs. I haven’t been there in months.
The main issue with catering it to upscaled characters would mean that it would suddenly be extremely easy to do on an actual lvl 80 character, which would defeat the whole purpose of the event.
There seems to be a growing amount of once-per-day content. A few daily quests were fine, but now we have personal ore nodes and once-a-day charged quartz creation, and from a look at the upcoming crafting rumours it seems it’s going to get a lot worse.
Can’t we just play the game at our own pace? One of the great things about the game mechanics and the payment model is that it allows people to play as and when they want without penalising them. Once-per-day content ruins this.
Please don’t let this great game degenerate into a repetitive daily grind, inhabited by nothing but lifeless addicts, like certain other MMOs which will remain nameless!
And they are trying with everything they ahve to avoid Blanket Nerfs or unintended side effects when they can so every bug reported has to be:
reproduced
cause determined
fix found
QA tested and certified
Localised for game versions and any text and voice changes made
signed off by devs before included in patch and localised for notes as well if major enough.
This all takes a fair bit of time and doesn’t really take inot account the pretty decent amount of time it can take to actually fix a problem as a game of GW2 size can have all sorts of unforseen interactions if fixes aren’t careful enough.
Bugs are getting fixed by the bug fix team(s) – but it takes time, and we get bugs fixed in every single patch along with class balance changes and game content added – biweekly so Anet is scoring pretty high on this…
And a PTR would ruin the surprises included in the patch itself and I can see why they made the choice to not use this system. – somtimes yes it sucks but I don’t mind the fast fixes that come soon after to deal with it for the joy of experiencing stuff like this without every source of info being flooded with every little detail of it and noone doing much of it Live cause they all tried it on PTS.

Welcome to how WvW feels like and was before they made culling configurable…
I play my alts because they are fun, not because I could reap extra rewards from them.
I ran the loot train for 2 hours this morning when it first came out, and another hour this evening. Mostly with huge zergs farming Queensdale continuously. Probably killed 80-90 champions all told.
Result: about 4g (total, from every source)
0 lodestones
0 cores
0 exotics
2 rares — total
I did get some amount of T6 mats
All the rest was blue/green/trash, lower-level mats, and coin bagsWTF is my roi so frikkin’ horrible compared to everyone else? Does Anet hate me, or am I just the unluckiest mother in the history of the universe?
You are farming in a level 1 area… what did you expect? Those champs drop T1 Champ boxes which contain very little. If you want more mats, exotics, and lodestones you will need to kill lvl 80 champs.
So… what was the point in Champion loot then? The loot is now still terrible enough that many people would see one and just be like “Meh, not worth it” and keep on walking. Is it even much better than it started now?
The champ loot was not nerfed. The champs themselves were removed. During the first few hours of the event the centaur area of the pavillion spawned 4-5 champ centaurs with a 3 minute respawn timer. People were pulling in 100 T6 champ chests an hour, leading to insane amounts of loot. They removed those centaurs.
Yep, the Opening Ceremony was really enjoyable. I’m still waiting for Braham to make a drunken pass at Rox. XD
I wanna see more Living Story with Evon Gnashblade as one of the important NPCs. Screw Trahearne 2.0, I wanna see more Charr Scrooge.
instead of 1 per day, should be 7 per week
it’s still pretty kittenty, but it’s better
I don’t think that will reduce skill lag at all. I’m not a coder but I’d bet that all of those effects are generated on your end. Minimizing them would not change any information coming from the servers. This will almost definitely give you more fps and make the battles easier to see, but I can get 60 fps with skill lag that drops me down to only using my 1 skill.
This just points to a bigger problem in “Level-Appropriate” content not being rewarding or commensurate with “Skill” & Coordination. While Queensdale is full of level 50+ people in all Rare Gear …. the Mid-level zones are EMPTY except for a few newbies in Green & Blue gear clearly and SADLY struggling with harder content intended for atleast a Duo…
( I know b/c I spend most of my time on my 80’s in those mid-tier areas. But I do stop to help them whenever I can).
Hopefully the Blog Changes Colin announced will CHANGE THIS by giving players a lot more Materials they really WANT so they can go back to focusing on their mains directly or atleast getting a better variety of Crafting mats to PL their alts back in town on the crafting tables “like the rich kids get to do”

When you see the trolls runestone or the hunter ready for the boar, just call it out before you start it. That way everybody (well, most people) will be happy. If people want things in a particular order, well that’s just tough…this is a game where other people join in and do what they want when they want.
Have to say that the champions really do go down far too quickly though. They’re not scaling up properly for the number of people they’re facing. Even the cave troll goes down in two minutes. It really is getting a bit ridiculous now.
dude come on ur smarter then this. u ahve been a pretty logical poster in the pass.
People r not complaining that they r now working on and acknowledge it now. They r upset at the fact it has taken soo long, and the fact that he said over the thousand of ppl who have reported this, for 6 months now were to vague. By him saying that it was kinda a slap in the face to there player base, who have been playing and offering advice and details on thes bugs for along time.
It also says that all the other bugs we have been reporting on will prob never be fixed. Untill someone from anet Stumbles across it one day in wvw, when they actually play there game for more then 5 minutes.
There was no slap in the face involved or intended, I’m sure. Yes, it took awhile to get acknowledgement. We all know that. However, now that we (finally) have, people still going on about it are becoming like the chihuahua barking at a fly on the wall. Yip yip yip with nothing to be gained from it.
Maybe, just maybe, we could convince someone from ANet to share with us some ideas that would better serve with regards to reporting these types of things in a matter that will seem less vague? It would be a better expenditure of our energies, that’s for sure.
The issue here is that dev’s can’t reliably pin down if the issue of gate glitching is within the actual area design of the map, if it’s a delay in the server’s received data that an update to the client causes the bug, or if it’s in the collision detection of the gate. That’s just the basics. There’s also some other instances that you have to consider, but those three directly come off my head – and even that may be separated into sub-issues if the code’s reused somewhere else.
Not sure if anyone’s added it yet, but I found a Canthan related book in Divinity’s Reach called “The Winds of Change.”
“Contact with Cantha was finally lost when the flood from Orr’s rising disrupted trade.”
“They’ve closed their shores to us and left us to fight the Dragons alone. To the Mists with them.”
What that means is that even if Cantha were to ever “return”, it would come back to the tune of disdain from the current Tyrian territories due to the abandonment in hard times.
Well that could make for a pretty good story arch.
Game Design Lead
We want all weapon sets to have their uses, but it’s not necessary that all weapon types be equally viable in all given scenarios. In Starcraft, League, any shooter, etc., it’s not expected that ALL units/weapons/heroes be equally strong in ALL scenarios.
As different game types demand different “tools” from the classes, it stands to reason that some “toolsets” will perform better than others in a given game type.
:)
It is because the world is huge and people normally congregate on certain areas at a time (world boss, events, dungeons, etc).
Ad. 6.
The most basic rule of design should be creating playstyles that are fun to play and fun to play against. While GW2 is mostly fun to play, there is a colossal amount of things that are not fun to play against. It is all connected to the huge imbalance from which the game currently suffers.
Things like perma evades, afk spirit rangers, random 5% procs from runes, and so on, need to be completely removed to make a competitive game. I’d go as far as saying that even internal cooldowns (ICDs) on traits are cheese, because no one knows if they’re available. I could live without those traits, everyone could. It would make the game less random and more enjoyable.
The sentence that needs to be repeated tenfold is – the game needs to be toned down across-the-board.
It needs more emphasis on cooperation between teammates and single target damage. ‘Nerf Everything’ is strangely appropriate given the current state of balance.
Something must be done. Fixing it all will probably take you another year, but then the game will be healthier, more fun to play, more fun to watch and more fun to cast.
Please, like my original post, because it took me literally a whole day to write it and much, much longer to think it through <3
