You could always create a free account on NA to play with your friends.
I’d recommend against all safe slot boxes as you won’t be able to sell stuff on the TP, to merchants or deposit crafting materials to your bank.
I personally use 1 normal, 1 safe/invisible, 1 equipment (for weapons/armour), 1 crafting (for mats) and an oiled pack (all junk items go here first).
Nice, just found the WvWvW laurel vender. Looks like its gonna take me a while to get them!
So if that’s the best way to get ascended jewelry, I’m assuming that either lucky drops or crafting are the only way to get weapons/armor?
You can get rings from Fractals (they cost 10 Pristine Relics which you get for completing Fractals or they drop at level 11+ but that’s random and you need AR for those).
You can get Trinkets easily by completing guild missions. You need 12 Guild Commendations per trinket.
Back pieces can either be crafted or made in the mystic forge (you can check the wiki for the recipes). Otherwise for armour/weapons I find it’s more reliable to craft them.
I believe prime time is generally 5pm – 11pm. If you’re playing at midnight – 2am UK time that will be 7pm – 9pm eastern so you’ll be in the middle of prime time. There’ll be quite a few folks running around then (possibly a few more than you’re used to).
Yes you can have two accounts. When you’re logged in if you open the options menu the ping will be at the bottom right hand corner.
I’m on Aurora Glade and I’m often in map instances with English map chat. It does occasionally happen that I’ll end up in a French/German shard (but I assume that happens to all of us). I’d go with Just a flesh wound’s advice of guesting to some of them.
In answer to the title yes you can move from EU to US servers. The only issue you may have is that outside of prime time hours it may seem to be quieter than you’re used to. I mean there’s still folks around but it’s not like prime time (for obvious reasons).
As far as I know, you can’t’ get a Nomad’s exotic back piece. You can make one of the crafted back items and give it cleric’s stats, though.
Doesn’t one of the Mawdrey stages (stage 1 or 2) give you a Nomad backpiece?
It lets you get the Enchanted Key (level 80 exotic trinket with Soldier’s stats) which is part of the treasure hunter collection. If you want to finish that collection then you will need the Key.
Whilst having an in game guild tool (like the LFG) would be good (and I’d love for them to do that) unfortunately there isn’t one at the moment.
They do offer the Looking For… section of the forums and they’ve just started a recruitment drive/initiative within that (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/Guilds-Activate-Recruit-Mode/first#post5443418) that may help you find something.
If you want to try running some dungeons etc. to test out how your Ranger handles Gabriel nudge me in game. I can do EU or NA servers so that’s not an issue.
Would I be able to play a ranger as a melee character and not have it be completely outclassed by any other melee dps class? Would I be able to tank effectively, and survive effectively, or would I just have to end up being ranged instead?:
Lastly, are rangers still a really subpar class, or are they balanced now?
Firstly if you like Ranger then stick with Ranger. Now whether can you melee effectively as a Ranger the answer is yes. Here’s a quick breakdown of Ranger melee -
Sword - Main hand weapon that offers a quick auto attack and 2 evades. Also offers a leap for increased self healing with water fields. Depending on the offhand you pair it with, can change it’s utility in groups. The offhands you can use are -
Axe - Offers a pull for trash (or a way of removing defiance if needed) and a reflect.
Dagger - Offers another evade and a projectile for cripple (can be used to proc a damage bonus).
Warhorn - Offers party swiftness, fury and might, a blast finisher and a multi hit attack.
Greatsword - 2 evades, one block and a daze/stun. Also offers a leap for increased self healing with water fields.
Certain utilities can offer invulnerability (signet of stone) or increased damage (signet of the wild, Frost spirit). Utilities like Lightning Reflexes offer another evade (coupled with greatsword allow you to evade and re-engage very quickly).
I wouldn’t say that Rangers are a subpar class, they’re kinda middle ground. The problem is they have built up a stigma for attracting players that don’t/can’t control their pets, and use skills at inappropriate times (using knockback on mobs other people are meleeing).
When you reach a certain level you unlock ‘Guild Weapons Contract’.
This Merchant sells you very neat Weapon skins that also include your guild emblem.
The only problem is, it doesn’t include all type of weapons and the absence of a Greatsword skin there really is depressing.I asked about this a while back and got the response that “There isn’t anyway to place an emblem on a great sword”.
To which i completely disagree. If they found the room to place the logo on a pistol, it can sure fit on a GreatSword.
There technically is a Guild Greatsword. It’s called the Guild Sunderer and is available from the Guild Commendation trader. The only problem is it doesn’t display your guild emblem.

What I find even more interesting is the ones who play it quite a bit will be hitting 30 this week. I happened to start a character Friday and am in the low 30s as of last night and know where the places are for fast advancement in pve. That also means the first ftp 80s are just about a month away. At that point they will be everywhere.
My fear is not the ftp players themselves but what they can do to the economy via the tp. A few could even grief events without doing anything reportable as well. So it would be nice to know how many ftp players are out there so we can figure out a strategy as a community. Unfortunately it is unlikely we will ever know.
Hitting 30s? I dunno if they done something to eotm leveling train, its been 4 month i dont log in, but eotm run to 80 takes 9-16h, dunno if the f2players have access to it as well
I don’t think they can get into EotM. Lion’s Arch isn’t accessible until level 35 (this is character bound) and WvW isn’t unlocked until level 60 (account wide unlock).
Post doesn’t say anything about guilds though?
This does though – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Guild-Recruitment-Drive/first#post5443434
Any guesses on when all this starts? Immediately?
I would guess probably not until after the beta weekend. Tuesday is my guess.
But they tweeted it now, so it might start now.
I think Gaile mentioned about a reveal today of something (to do with guilds), so I’d guess reveal this week content/start next?
Edit – found the post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Guild-Recruitment-Drive/first#post5443434
I keep seeing this name thrown around….Who the heck is Sam???
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mike_O'Brien
Not sure why people name him Sam, but they do so I guess if that’s how he likes to be named I will do the same.
The call him Mo at the Anet offices (as confirmed by Dev’s on forums and by Colin on Saturday’s live stream).

So no reasons to come back to play with the exp.
Can I have your stuff then? :-P
Now, my hope is that… since MY guild is only just my husband and I… that perhaps claiming our own guild hall is a battle that is scaled to the size of the guild?
My husband and I would truly be crushed if we… couldn’t enjoy this amazing content!
I’d be happy to help you and your other half get your hall if you’d like.
My hope for HoT is that it’s enjoyable for me and my guild. Whether that’s claiming our hall, getting wafflestomped in raids or just gliding around the canopy.
So we would be really back at square one:
-You´re not there at kill day, you get diddly squat.
-You´re not state of the art equipped, you need a mercy seat or get didly squat too.I really fear that the kittenstorm her will be gigantic if this is indeed the saturday message, alrthough it won´t be much friendlier if it is not as hard as some ernthusiast hope.
That’s largely assuming that it’s like other games Raids. From what I remember of the Raid CDI Chris constantly said to move away from that notion and that these would be Guild Wars 2 raids which is not necessarily what you’d expect from other games.
Isn’t that the Hall of Monuments? You must have been there at some point with your character.

It doesn’t require brute force to kill somebody who is already down, just assassin skills.
We’re fragile creatures. It takes less an a pound of pressure to cut skin.
what this doing with staff weapon? this totally not relate to thief
Little John - Legendary outlaw/brigand/thief (depending on you point of view). Fought with a staff.
Robin Hood also used a staff in some stories. Both are considered thieves by certain people (namely the people they were robbing).
It’d be interesting to watch some of these players try to beat super mario brothers on NES. They’d probably start crying after 10 minutes :P
First world, second level. At the second gap with the falling platforms jump up onto the top of the screen and run to the end and grab the warp tube. Dead easy :-P Can’t remember where the one after that was though…
The recipe to change stats in the mystic forge is currently in the game. The recipe can be found here – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Anthology_of_Heroes
Can any Engineer players clarify this thread? I really want to know what passive skills allows Engis to throw turrets. If that’s the case, then they’re pretty OP and need a nerf.
There was a trait that allowed turrets to be deployed via ground targeting. This was removed with the Specialisation update. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deployable_Turrets
Bumping for the Badgers
There are lots of active guilds around. My guild is active but we still have people who haven’t been around for a while. It happens and you’ll probably find that in a lot of guilds. But just because some of the members are inactive doesn’t mean the guild is.
If you look on the looking for forum ( https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor ) you may need to go back a few pages to find the guild for you as the post turnover down there is quite fast.
What was the gift?
WE MUST KNOW!!! O_o
Staff weapons, death gliders? I too want to know.

“mudamudamuda” , “oraoraoraora” and “wryyyyyyyyy” also work.
Engi gets gadget goonies reference, why can’t warrior get a jojo reference shouts?I don’t… know what any of that is but I’m willing to bet that it’s some anime stuff that has nothing to do with the spec.
The concept of a “berserker” pre dates whatever anime you’re referring to but the tool belt was actually inspired by that Goonies character. That’s the difference also there are no in game references to the Goonies at all.
Finally, the Goonies rock.
There’s one in game reference to the Goonies (least that was the way I interpreted it). The jumping puzzle in Harathi Hinterlands called Fawcett’s Bounty.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fawcett%27s_Bounty
But yeah I agree. The Goonies rock.
Dragonbrand is a regular server to the best of my knowledge. There are no official RP servers but the two unofficial RP servers are Tarnished Coast (NA) and Piken square (EU). If you are interested in RPing then it would be worth finding an RP guild. If you check out http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/ it should help you.
On my Charr Ele I run the following -
Vigil Honor Circlet
Seer’s Mantle
Vigil’s Honor Vest
Invokers Gloves (Charr cultural)
Vigil’s Honor Leggings
Aurora Shoes
I never played GW1 so no idea what you’re talking about but haven’t they started using something like this in LS:S2 and in the Silverwastes? The Facets need certain buffs/debuffs to damage them, The Shadow Dragon needs the ring of fire (and the little shadow critters need the fire buff to damage them) and in Silverwastes the Thrasher boss at Vinewrath gives you the purple cloud buff to do more damage.
You get them from salvaging exotic gear of level 68 or higher.
Hey Grom,
Are you NA? If so then you may want to check out [FIRE]. They’re really nice group when I’ve had the chance to run with them.
Here’s their recruitment post – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/NSP-Chariot-of-Fire-FIRE-Christian-NA-1/first#post4756751
Hey AdaephonDelat.3890 I cant reply in personal message, got to wait two days. guess to try and stop gold spammers or something.
Thanks for the advice, ill take a look. Not having much look though, just seems mass recruitment zerg guilds everywhere.
No real structure around anymore or something?
Bah keep forgetting about that new user PM restriction >.<
I’m honestly not sure what WvW is like on FoW but there are structured raid guilds around on other servers. If you’re looking for zergbusting guilds you may want to look at high silver but more likely gold tier.
No probs good luck in your search.
It’s down near the bottom in the community section
Nope nothing in between. And unless you have a desire to do level 50 fractals then you don’t need it.
The highest gear tier is Ascended quality. To get that the easiest way is to craft it. Otherwise you just have to pray to RNGeesus that you get some in WvW rank up chests/bonus chests or from doing Teq/Triple Trouble or from doing high level fractals (which you need ascended gear to get into).
Some collections also offer some ascended gear as rewards for completion. Check the wiki link below for more info on how to acquire the gear.
That’s the vial of maize balm. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vial_of_Maize_Balm
I have some questions:
- How many active players (login 1/week) does [BAD] have and what times are most players online?
- On which Day(s) are the guild events?
Good questions. We’re not a big guild (hence the recruiting. I’d like to be medium(ish)) so I’d say on normal weeks around 20 (+/-5?) people log in at least 1/week. Holiday periods (like at the moment) do see a slight decline in activity.
Monday from 7pm UK time is missions.
Wednesday from 7pm UK time is WvW.
Friday from 7pm UK time is Fractals.
We like to try and do dungeons across weekends (or on non-event days).
I think the problem with Fractals, is that there is limited attraction to them, due to the whole AR thing.
As people who don’t craft (or don’t craft, yet) know they can only do low level ones, because they will hit an AR wall.
When you know there is something beyond a wall, that you can’t access without doing something you don’t wish to do (or do, yet), it tends to put you off the entire thing.
Whereas, dungeeons feel like they should be something anyone can do.
Even if, in reality, that is not necessarily the case (due to the whole meta/elitism/lack of queue system thing).
Actually the AR thing is quite easy to get around without crafting. If you’re doing the low level fractals you’ll get enough pristine relics to buy a ring and a simple versatile infusion so you can do that until you get 10 AR (two rings) which will let you progress up until level 19. If you do guild missions getting trinkets is dead easy and amulets are cheap in WvW so buying those will get you up to level 29.
Doing level 21 – 29 fractals will drop infused rings which allow you to put higher level infusions in (+8’s for example) so putting two high level infusions in should allow you to get the 40 AR needed to go up to 39. At this point you should have enough fractal relics to purchase a fractal capacitor, upgrade it to ascended and infuse it and add AR to it. Around this level you should also be getting ascended drops that you can change to your required stats in the mystic forge, equip and add some AR to. Continuing along this you’ll get the 55AR needed for up to level 49 and then the 70 needed for level 50.
Bumping for the Badgers
1) When you log into the game it will show the home world in the details regarding the character. Otherwise if you create an API key in your account settings and enter it into a site like mygw2.wvwintel.com/ then that will tell you the world you’re on. Depending on if you’re planning to play WvW then either look for guilds based on server (for WvW) or just region/timezone.
2) Some guilds allow members to just join for missions so maybe try to find a mission guild that you can join.
3) If you already have 2 characters I’d log in to them first and get the birthday gifts they have. One of the items will be a level 20 scroll which will boost a character from 1 to 20. Use that to get a bit of a headstart then you can either craft, explore, play PvP for tomes (each tome gives one level) or go to Edge of the Mists to level up.
You can play that character so what’s the issue? It won’t be optimal but it’s still perfectly viable.
Never being able to actually be considered a great character is the issue.
But if they’re taking defensive support utilities and using them to support their group then how are they not performing in that role?
I think his problem is that it’s not the current ‘meta’
The meta can’t be so easily controlled. it’s the unforseeable outcome of a very complex interplay of a very large number of variables, some of which are player perceptions and general game culture, hence why the meta can spontaneously shift.
Yeah I understand that but not every build can be meta. I believe this is the current hammer meta build by Obal. As far as I can see if offers good group support (reflects, aegis, might, fury, quickness, reflects, condi cleanse, group heals, protection) and solid damage. Seems pretty support oriented to me.
I was only really replying to the person talking about Guardian (which is why I’m focusing on that class) but as far as I can tell the support offered by the above meta build is exactly what that person was looking for. I guess I just have a hard time how someone can complain that they want to play support and support not being wanted when one of the current meta (ish?) builds is basically built around support.
You can play that character so what’s the issue? It won’t be optimal but it’s still perfectly viable.
Never being able to actually be considered a great character is the issue.
Is it so hard to imagine that someone can care about how they play the game at the same time as caring about their performance in that role?
But if they’re taking defensive support utilities and using them to support their group then how are they not performing in that role?
I don’t play Guardian very often and I don’t (knowingly) play meta builds but when I’ve played Guard I’ve managed to help and support my team with things like Aegis and Condi Cleanse all whilst doing damage. Surely I’m fulfilling my role of a supporter by keeping the team alive when I reflect those projectiles? Or when I use Aegis so a team member doesn’t get downed? Or removing the harmful conditions on allies so they don’t have to worry about them?
As far as I’m concerned that’s all support. Do you disagree with that?
It’s weird because this was advertised as a no-tank, no-healer game. I’m wondering why people who want these made their way to GW2. Were they uninformed?
The game “advertised” me I cannot be a 100% healer but never advertised me I cannot be a half DPS / half support player. On the contrary when I used the build editor I saw that I can be a support oriented player that also does damage. In the top of that I also saw I can wear support oriented gear. So I concluded I can play a support characted in the same way I played a support characted at Battefield 3 (the guy that launchs medic pack between 2 shots). Maybe not a 100% healer like in other MMOs but a support player nevertheless.
Because why a serious dev team would provide support tools in a game in wich they are useless ?
So I bought the game the last week and chose to be a f*****g hammer/staff wielder guardian charr that protects his warband with mostly boons, controls and some heals.
And if a cannot play that support character when I reach the end game, I will leave this beautifull game.
You can play that character so what’s the issue? It won’t be optimal but it’s still perfectly viable.
Also as a Guardian the amount of defensive support you can pump out is awesome (blinds, reflects, stability, aegis, condi cleanse, regen etc.), along with some offensive boons (might, fury, quickness) depending on how you build. You can be the reason a team doesn’t wipe with one well timed aegis. Surely that’s worth it? And you can do that in any gear you want.
I think the only thing it may affect is the currency that gem prices are displayed in (but even them I’m not sure and you may get the option for it to be in Dollars?). I have an account purchased in the EU but I play with it on US servers so that’s not a issue for you.
I have 70 AR on a character made entirely of versatile simple infusions so yes they are perfectly fine to use.
To make an infused version of an item (ring or back pack) then here is the recipe – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infused_equipment#Acquisition

I’d be somewhat surprised if it’d be this year at all.
It could be, of course, but given how much is known about the expansion so far I wouldn’t assume it.
According to their twitter announcements it will be this year. Guess this could be subject to change of course.
