You’re not following the storyline at level 19. The particular story line that takes you into Fields of Ruin unlocks at level 40 starting with Setting the Stage and progressing through the joining the Vigil Story line.

As Just A Flesh Wound pointed out it’s possibly the content pointer that’s gone a bit squiffy. Simply go back to Divinity’s Reach exit south and then exit Queensdale through one of the southern exits into Kessex Hills. This will be a level appropriate map and where you level 20 story quests continue (assuming you are human).

I dunno. Rabies can be pretty serious. Especially if the bunny sneaks up on you.

1. You can if you want to. Completing them gives you 10 AP and some experience.

2. I believe LB/GS ranger is an ok option for PvP. Double check in the ranger subforum as I don’t really PvP on my Ranger.

3. I don’t see why not. They’ll give some ok loot and are a quick way to level up. Fair warning dungeons are a step up from open world in terms of difficulty. Also you may want to mention to people (either in your LFG or when you join) that you’re new to the dungeon.

4. Yes. Choose two of Leatherworker (armour), Weaponsmith (greatsword, axes, swords etc.) or Huntsman (longbow, warhorns, shortbows etc.) depending on which you’d prefer to focus on. Please note that in sPvP all gear is normalized so your best PvE gear doesn’t matter there.

5. No there is no open world PvP. There is a game mode called WvW which is large scale PvP combat (and land grab).

6. Go into the wardrobe tab of the Hero Panel and select the item you’d like to transmute. Each transmute will cost one transmutation charge. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation

7. To salvage – Buy a salvage kit from a merchant. Double click it then select the item you’d like to salvage. Please note that gear earned through level up rewards, karma or purchased with badges of honor cannot be salvaged. If you’re interested in crafting then salvaging is a good way to get materials. If you don’t care for that then selling is a good idea.

Yes. sPvP is also combined using the system. When being placed into a map shard it does try to prioritise which you get into based on your server, guild and friends list (and most of the time isn’t too bad doing that).

Yes you are only allowed to create characters on one server. Server’s only really matter for WvW as the Megaserver system combines all servers in a region (so EU or NA) in PvE. For WvW info check out either the leader boards here or at http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups/ . Personally I’d recommend Aurora Glade but I’m a little biased :-P

Ele – high skill floor but possibly the best ranged caster in terms of damage and group support. Accepted in pretty much all 3 modes (sPvP, PvE and WvW)

Necro – personally more fun than Ele but not as loved by some people in PvE. Good in WvW and not too bad in PvP. Possibly the most newbie friendly of the 3.

Mesmer – interesting and fun although a bit weak at times. Not bad in all 3 modes but slightly less loved in large group WvW (it’s better at small group/solo roaming).

I don’t have time to answer all the questions at the moment (and I think others have already covered them off quite well) but if anyone does need a hand in game please feel free to add and contact me and I’ll try to help out as best I can.

They don’t drop from the dungeon directly. At the end of the dungeon you get Flame Legion Carvings which can be traded in Lion’s Arch to Officer Veros (south of Postern Ward Waypoint)

Not every build is optimal, Are the words optimal and viable something people have difficulty defining? I mean they’re pretty clear. One means one thing. One means another. As you can see these two things evidently mean different things. There are a lot of viable builds in GW2 (and even more open up as you spread out from PvE into other game modes) so I do wish that people would stop with this whole “There’s only X build that’s viable” etc. If you dislike the meta or X build that’s not an issue. Make you’re own gorram build and play with that!

I’m gonna go with my stock answer – What do you want to do? Do you enjoy PvP? Have you tried sPvP? Have you tried WvW? Do you enjoy world bosses? Have you done the Tequatl and Triple Trouble achievements? Do you enjoy dungeons? Have you completed all of the dungeon paths? Have you tried Fractals?

Yes you can finish off the map as well. You can buy exotic armour of the TP quite cheaply or buy it for Karma in Orr.

Crafting is quite easy. In any of the main cities find the crafting stations (they’re marked on the map) and speak to the NPC there and select “I’d like to be an X”. After that you can use the crafting station to start levelling your profession. When you get to level 375 you can craft rare level 80 armour, level 400 is for level 80 exotic armour and level 500 is for ascended armour. This link may help you with crafting -

Megaservers mean that the only thing you are restricted from playing with your friends is WvW. PvE maps and PvP are made up from players across all servers in the region (so in this case NA).

You guys seem to choose the most random weapons to fall back on for argument sake. Nukes? Glaives? Nunchuks? Ninja stars? What?

The actual item (Axe) already exists. I don’t think it would take a genius to go “Hey, what if we made the axe a bit larger?”

By the logic in this thread it would seem appropriate to just remove all 2h variants because, hey, they’re arbitrary.

Halberd would be a polearm not a spear. The idea behind a polearm is to not just use the pointy bit at the end (in fact originally most polearms had no pointy bit but were more axe like so a two handed axe is a polearm) but would be to use momentum to use the blade as a slashing weapon.

With regards to adding a 2 handed axe – what would it do? For example on Warrior Hammer and Mace are both control weapons but Sword is a condi weapon and Greatsword is direct damage. Axe is also a direct damage weapon so what exactly do you feel that 2 handed axe should do differently? What should it do or add that you feel Warrior needs?

Polearms and javelins are both spears, which exist.

Rifles would be the crossbow version, and tactical nukes is just silly.

Slightly pedantic nitpick here. Polearms are not spears. Spears are not polearms. Both are pole weapons. It’s kinda like saying a shotgun’s a rifle. Yes they’re both guns but they function differently. I’d also say that whilst yes javelin’s are a type of spear they’re used very differently to how we use our spears. And javelins are generally one handed. So he is correct no polearms or javelins exist in the game at the moment.

Staff Elementalist would be your best bet then. Suits your requirements of kill everything and ranged. Fair warning though Ele’s are squishy as anything so you will need to learn to dodge and use your active defences.

1 – Yes it’s buy to play. There is no subscription fee and currently you do not have to pay to log in. I highly doubt this will change anytime soon.

2 – Check the PvP subforums for more info but yes Thief and Guardian are both in a good place in PvP.

3- Yes you can buy anything from the gem store with in game gold. Saving up the gold can take a while depending on what exactly you do to earn the gold.

4 – Yes yes it is :-P

5 – No idea about the average wealth. Yes you can earn money from PvP but you’d have a better chance in PvE. Professions none of them really. You’d be better selling the raw materials.

6 – Yes to the competitiveness. Possibly (depending on what you do) to the wealth part. Best places to earn money are Dungeons, TP Flipping and a couple of maps like Silverwastes or Dry Top.

7 – Once again check the PvP subforums for better info.

They both are. The one that’s visible is the one that is accurate for the level you are downscaled to. When you hover over it, it displays the stat at your actual level in a level appropriate zone.

At least with Trinity you get 3 roles and builds, and the team are doing 3 different things. it also allows Devs to develop group content better. And pls don’t tell me other builds are viable in pve cuz they are not , there is no reason to run build other than zerker.

Also berserker is a gear set not a build. A build is made up of traits and utility skills. Gear is used to compliment and add to that build.

I’m sorry but that’s BS ,you know what I mean when I say berserker build so don’t play words. Have you ever seen a single group said “we accept non zerkers”? That’s the easiest and most rewarding way to play the game so people are going to do it, non zerker are just not wanted in pve that’s fact.

Yes I have. All of my groups accept non zerkers. All of my groups accept non level 80’s as well. Well assuming the dungeon itself is not level 80. There are lots of non zerker groups. Just because you’re too blinkered to see it doesn’t mean it’s not there.

OT: No I don’t think the trinity would make this a better game. More successful possibly. If it was more raid/dungeon focused like other trinity games then it would appeal to more of those players.

Yup also very true. My wording in that previous post could have been better. What I meant to say was whilst trinity may have bought in some of those players, if they wanted to try to be successful going down that route then they would would possibly have better success drawing those players in with a raiding/dungeon focus. I am no way advocating that they add trinity although a few more instances wouldn’t hurt.

I would tend to oppose most ideas that had a religious sounding name. So as a suggestion, find a better name so it’s not an instant turnoff.

@AdaephonDelat.3890 No, berserker or any other “build” is not a gear set. It’s a total package with traits and combat routines.

Holy Trinity is Tank, DPS and Healer. It’s the mechanic used in games like Everquest, Everquest 2 and WoW.

Edit – got a few minutes to reply now. According to you Berserker is a build. So if I take my Guardian slap on some berserker gear and run all shouts with 0/0/6/6/2 then it’s exactly the same build as a spirit weapon build running 6/6/0/0/2 and all spirit weapon utilities, as they’re both using the same gear.
Builds are generally named after traits so in the 0/0/6/6/2 example it would probably be called an Altruistic Healing build or a Pure of Voice build depending on which trait you were focusing on.

Join a party and get someone to target you. The star is most likely the one you get for completing Been There Done That (100% map completion).

I’m really not going to quote you as the post will most likely be deleted shortly but even on the lowest graphic settings the wings still show up as they’re a back piece.

But the people that are generally told that are veterans who have new friends and want to introduce them to PvP/WvW but their new friends don’t have the short cuts active yet.

I enjoy roleplaying in other MMOs, I learned about it in Neverwinter, and then tried it in Tera and WoW, and always had a great time.
That being said, I heard that the unofficial RP server is Tarnished coast. But I see it’s always full and I can’t create a character in there, only go as a “guest” what does that mean exactly? Also I read something about megaservers but couldn’t understand it. is it like merging several servers in specific zones that are usually more lonely so you can see more players?

Again, on the rp topic, should I try to join a rp guild? how is rp in this game? I think it’s a beautiful game (and that comes from someone who played Tera) and I think it has all the tools for having a great rp community, I hope I’m not wrong.

Tarnished Coast (if you’re NA or Piken Square if you’re EU) is the unofficial RP server. With regards to it being full I wouldn’t worry too much. Megaservers means that all servers are merged in PvE (for want of a better description) meaning you will be placed into maps with players from lot’s of different servers. it does try to prioritise people on your home server, friends list and guild which leads to the next point.

Yes you should find and join an RP guild. It will increase your chances of being put into the same shard as other RP’ers. Also add people to your friends list.

Largely depends on what you consider endgame. From your comment about exploring then I think it should keep you occupied for a while (especially if you join up with an RP guild to do stuff with). With regards to Heart of Thorns it has not been released yet just announced.

If you’re doing what Laula suggests (which is a good idea) and still want to go solo then I find the Ascalon Fractal to be the easiest to solo. Possibly the underwater one as well but I’ve never tried that.

as an elementalist this last one was bad as you get all your attacks being AE damage and only you one heal (one a 25 to 30 second timer) and I seem to take A LOT of damage especially since I am argoing too much every time i attack ..

What weapons are you using? And what utility skill are you using? With regards to heals if you really need them then you can use the water attunement. Some of the skills heal and some create water fields which can be leapt through/blasted to give more healing.

I have to say that my friend quitted this game yesterday because lvl 40 storyline was too hard for his elementalist and he couldn’t imagine how he would do even harder later chapters – esp. Orr. What could be soloable for some classes is not with another one. And they want to make the new content even more challenging.
What I was told the elementalist has low HPS and range of his attacks it too close with only one heal a and big CD on skills. Also the close ranged skills are not instant, but anyone can interrupt them, Staff, which would have higher range have no real DPS, so the class is really painful. With a lot of fighting since lvl 60, it is 1/3 of the game that is constant dying in the most annyoing way. I really wish developers would listen to ordinary players who want to have just fun and make personal story challenging according to the will of a player.

Question – Why did you let him quit and not offer to help him get through the story?
With regards to how he’ll survive Orr it’s quite simple. He’ll get better at the game and get better armour and unlock traits and trait point to make him more powerful.

Yes Elementalist does have one of the lowest base health pools but they also have some survival skills to make up for it. Using staff I can count 5 weapon skills that stop a foe getting near you or remove you from their range plus 1 reflect. There are also 2 water fields which can be used to heal yourself. Utility wise I count 4 skills that either make you invulnerable or reduce damage plus 2 summons that can take aggro for you. Also 1 skill that teleports you away from enemies. Lastly I see two skills that blind foes making them miss their next attack (1 on staff and 1 utility, but there are more on other weapon sets).

With regards to the staff DPS comment Ele Staff is one of the higher DPS weapons in the game.

Here’s a gallery for you Lyme. Pick the pieces you like and off you go. I’d say Heavy Plate, Dark Templar or Studded Plate would probably suit your tastes.

But for new players it’s just stupid. And if you haven’t been around a while and got a bunch of those experience scrolls that boost a new character to 20, you’re kitten out of luck.

Just wait till your friends gets to lv30 and “unlocks” traits. I say that loosely because likely he’ll have very little choice in traits, if he even unlocked any at all. And as a new player I don’t imagine he has a ton of skill points and gold lying around to just buy them all.

So even past lv80 he will still be grinding just to get essential features.

Fix is a bit of a grandiose term, we have no idea how they are going to change it. Remember they were “fixing it” the first time they changed it as well.

That’s first 15 levels and i agree it sucks if you are new, it’s worst first 15 levels in my entire MMO history(GW1 had this so much better). What’s funny is, when you hot 80, you have another worst enemy… ACCOUNT BOUND ************* EVERYWHERE…. Who ever invented account bound, did bring the worst game content to GW2.

Are you talking about the levelling rewards? If so I don’t dislike those. You can mystic forge them and the exotic Axe I got for my Necro is what gave me the precursor for my Frostfang so I’m not adverse to them being account bound.
