I wonder if they would accept my app if I applied.. but Im probably on some blacklist.
I think one of the requirements was “be an active player” so I think that’s where you fall down.

Server only really affects WvW. In PvE there’s a system called megaserver ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Megaserver#Megaserver_system ) which basically puts you into maps with players from every other server.
If you’re interested in playing WvW then the links below will give you an idea of where servers are -

Have you smelt a Norn after he’s been fighting in full armor for eight hours? And covered in blood, and enemy guts, burning oil, and putrid cow that someone fired from a trebuchet?
Or hung around a necromancer? Some of those minions get a little ripe out in the sun.
And rangers. Three words: wet dog smell.
Dogs can’t swim in GW2 and it doesn’t rain in too many maps.
Still got wet bear, wet devourer, wet drake or wet feline smell. I’m imagining none of those smell too great when they get soggy. Hell my Marsh Drake doesn’t smell to great when he’s wandering around on land.
You can kill guards in WvW from level 2. Choice is there you’re just choosing not to use it.
I’d love to see you kill a guard with a level 2 char … 1 … 1 … 1 … 1 … 1 … 1 … well, one thing it’ll teach … evading.
That was… really easy, actually
I never doubted it wouldn’t (although with a melee char it might be a tad more challenging) – it’s just gonna take a long time … and – depending on your matchup – you might hear an “Ahem …” from behind you …
Hey I never said it would be easy. Just possible :-P
Just to clear up misconception, since the NPE came in, WvW is only available at level 18 and PvP is only available at level 22.
WvW and PvP are available at any level as you can just walk through the portals to get there. You don’t get informed about them until levels 18 and 22. Big difference. Also I believe the hotkeys still work (admittedly a brand new player won’t know what those hotkeys are unless they’ve been messing around in the settings).
Well feel free to update the wiki then. It is apparently completely incorrect.
From the wiki ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Level_rewards ) -
18 1 WXP Mini-Booster
Information about World vs World
Information about Asura Gates
22 +40 to base Power Precision Vitality Toughness
Guardian Profession skill 3 unlocked
Information about sPvP
Doesn’t say it’s locked in any way.

Also, I saw a bunch of people being trounced for complaining about having high level choices on their low level characters – people were saying that low level characters have choices appropriate to their level. So when I logged into my 37 Guardian today, why do I have: “Daily Inquest Golem Mark II” which is in Mount Maelstrom? I’m supposed to take my level 37 character to Mount Maelstrom?!
What’s the highest level character on your account?
No. It’s completely ridiculous to not even have a choice in what character you want to play if you want to complete your dailies. Whoever let that bit of idiocy slip into the game should be ashamed.
You do have the choice. You can PvP from level 2. You can kill guards in WvW from level 2. Choice is there you’re just choosing not to use it.
So those players who already have a level 80 and are using the dailies as a way to level up an alt, the way I used to play ( no longer – I refuse to level a character under the new trait system) are out of luck.
I’m wondering if Anet is trying to discourage the creation of alts. Most things they have changed in the game from the new trait system to this daily rework is detrimental to alts.
Soon, someone will be copy/pasting the stock answer to this issue, telling you to just do the dailies on your 80s and pass on the xp scrolls/writs to your alts. (Acting as if it’s a crazy notion to actually want to play your alts instead of feeding them levelup consumables.)
Be ready!
You get the same amount of xp just in a consumable form. Do the ones you can on your low level and the others on your high level and give them to your low level.
Good enough Manasi?
Harsh for new players
I rolled a new character recently just for fun. Thought I’d do the daily on my new character. Not a chance. Fight Jormag as a level 3? Sure! Clear events in Timberline falls as a level 3? Not a problem. This highlighted to me that this daily system is only for established players. The system is quite unworkable for new players. The chance of you being able to complete the daily meta as a new player through PvE achievements alone is practically zero. Sure, you might get one achievement to chop down some trees, but that would be it.Dailies work slightly differently for new players/accounts -
The number of available achievements per day is based on the highest-level character on an account:
Levels 1–10: 1 achievement per category
Levels 11–30: 3 achievements per category
Levels 31–80: 4 achievements per categoryI see, wasn’t very obvious though. Thanks for clearing that up.
I believe others have said that the actual achievements are different as well so instead of Claw of Jormag they got a low levelled World Boss. Admittedly I don’t have an account to test this (I have quite a few 80’s :-P ) so I can’t confirm the truth of this.

No probs. Have fun exploring.
You need to go to Scarlet’s House (it’s in Prosperity), go down into the basement and then run through to pop out the other side. When you’re out you’ll need to run north, then east along the valley to the oasis.
When you get to the oasis you’ll need to head south up the hill and across the left hand vine bridge, head east, then head south and you’ll end up in the right place.
Thanks for skill suggestions =)
But I didn’t quite understand last paragraph. I can receive one boss chest per day, or one chest from each different boss once per day?
The chests appear once per day per boss per character. So if you kill the Shadow Behemoth (the beastie in the swamp in Queensdale) with your thief you’ll get the chest to loot. If you then go back 2 hours later and kill it again with another profession you’ll get the chest again (but not the bonus chest which appears on characters at level 39 or above).
I’m honestly getting tired of your intricate excuses and word-twisting, Filaha. You’re succeeding in it, I admit, as other posters have already noted it. For now, I’ll just stop at an analogy for this thingie:
12 choices is 12 choices. Personally, I can finally get 10 AP per day without having to leave WvW, whereas before I couldn’t. I now have more choice of how to get 10 AP. You PVEers keep forgetting this.
Different choice =/= less choice.
Previously, the shop had 10 different toy bears, 10 different toy cats, 10 different toy dogs, and 10 different toy foxes.
Now, the shop has 1 toy bear, 1 toy panda, 1 toy cow, 1 toy horse, and even an extra animal type – 1 toy kangaroo! And you’re saying “hooray!” at “different” choices. GJ.
Panda’s beat all other stuffed toys hands down. New system’s better :-P
Dear Santa please bring me a pony and a plastic rocket

Staying in topic, I think getting a precursor drop for the first time and seeing it’s one of those would probably break my heart.
My first precursor drop was Venom. I was like “Oh sweet! A Pre! And it sells for nothing. Kitten that I’ll just make the darned thing!”.
Are you using the discovery tab to find new recipes? For example craft a mighty inscription, a bronze sword hilt and a bronze sword blade go the discovery tab (top tab on the left) select the three items and it will let you craft a mighty bronze sword (which is level 10 I believe). Repeat this with as many different things until you can refine Iron and Soft Wood. Repeat again with a new set of recipes etc etc.
This page will probably give you a better idea -

Bumping for the Glade!
Here is another feedback, from me: I HATE THE NEW DAILY SYSTEM!
I do not know who screamed on forums wanting new ways for daily, but I got no laurels for daily since the launch of this new system. I strongly and absolutely think ArenaNet made one of their worst decisions by modifying dailies as it stands.
I am a casual player. I got no laurels for dailies so far. This is my feedback as customer of ArenaNet (if my opinion counts).
That would be because you get laurels from the login rewards not from dailies.

I’m making a legendary and I’m lazy so extra Obsidian shards and clovers will be quite useful to me :-P
@OP – See above points about 55 laurels.
wiki says you get
1-? Mystic Clovers
1-? Obsidian Shardsso it might be better to chose laurels
thats like a guaranteed 20 gold or more and the karma for shards and clovers is easy to get
Hmmm possibly and I can get the shards, which is my main issue, for laurels so possibly a better choice. Eh we’ll see how I feel when I get to 28 days :-P

@OP – See above points about 55 laurels.
It’s 55 laurels over the 28 days. But you do get fewer Mystic Coins which is 12 I believe.
It took me almost an hour today to do the PvE dailies, mostly because of the 4 Southsun events and because the Maw only pops once every 2 hours. By comparison, the WvW stuff was done in about 10 minutes.
I used to get this kitten done without thinking about it, but now we’re being dragged around by the nose. I really don’t like this new system.
So don’t do them then. You’re missing out on 10AP if you don’t (which will be capped at 15K eventually anyway). If it was the old system then you’d be losing out on a lot more. Now you don’t. Seems like a win to me.
all the dailies so far are ridiculously easy and can be done in like 20min.
False. For example, you cannot do Maw or Jormag or any other boss if its spawn is scheduled 90 minutes later than you are connected.
Yip, I would like to hear the answer to that as well. Casual play is now punished. Log in for an hour a day after work… well, you’re not getting daylies son.
So you miss out on 10 AP. Not the end of the world there. Unless there’s some other reason you’re doing the dailies?
That’s the Flame Legion armour from the Citadel of Flame dungeon. Or at least the skirt and top are.
Its like the Golem Uprising of 1284 all over again!
Well, without the screaming and blood anyway.
Well you should have known better than to ask for directions Guzzi. You know they hate that.
So the gist of what I get from the complaint is that “I refuse to interact or find out anything about the game.”
Did I miss anything?
Nope that seems to be it. Oh wait you missed out angry at everyone who disagrees.
A couple of questions -
- What sort of thing do you enjoy playing?
- What Game mode are you playing? There’s no point recommending Ranger if you really dislike playing a pet class. Equally there’s no point in recommending an Engineer if you’d prefer a class that uses swords. If you can answer those two then we can give you a better steer on what class (or classes) may suit your play style.
Hmm i like a charge in class like a guardian or warrior i don’t like thief or ranger because i want to rush into battle and i starting to look into necromancer.
Come play with me sometime when I’m on my Ranger and I’ll show you a charge into battle class :-P
But you’ve pretty much answered your question now. You want an up close and personal sort of class and build and pretty much every class has strong melee options. With that in mind (speaking from a PvE viewpoint) the ones i feel you should probably try are -
Warrior – A pretty solid choice for up close and personal. Plenty of weapons to choose from to suit your style including a couple of cap closers (mainhand sword and greatsword). You can also give some nice offensive buffs with banners/shouts. Hell you can even hit the bad guys with the banners if you want to :-P Biggest downside is everyone and their mum has one and for some people the playstyle can get kind boring.
Guardian – Once again nice for the “in your face” sort of style. You’ve got some gap closers (Sword, Greatsword and Hammer although not so much on the last one) and are able to dish out some serious damage. Also a well played Guard is a boon to any party as you have good group wide condi removal, and can keep people alive with reflects/aegis and other defensive boons. Biggest downside (for me) is you’re slow. I mean really slow! Also you will have a low health pool. Guardians and Ele’s have the lowest base health pools in the game.
Ranger – I know you said you didn’t like it but honestly try Sword/X and/or Greatsword. Greatsword has a gap closer, 2 evades, a block and an interrupt. Sword has 2 evades and some incredible attack speed. Couple Sword with something like offhand Axe and you have a reflect and a pull/interrupt as well. Downside is you are squishier than the 2 above but that’s why you have the evades :-P Also your pet is as dumb as a sack of rocks and you will need to command it. The micromanaging of the pet can be a pain in the kitten.
Necromancer – Well as you’re thinking of trying it, then for you’re “in your face style” then you’re going to want to go mainhand Dagger. This gives you access to a small cleave (2 targets I believe), a life steal ability and an immobilize. With an offhand dagger you also get a condi removal and blindness which can help a lot. Your other choices would be a focus, which has a chill and I believe a boon removal/corrupt, or a warhorn which has self swiftness and an interrupt. In a group you won’t be as useful as the ones above. The best you can offer is group wide protection (when traited), blindness on foes, and group condi removal (by drawing them to yourself).
Hope some of that helps.
Right but the rewards you get for doing nothing now are better than the ones you got for getting dailies by playing. Are you into achievement points?
what do you mean- better rewards for doing nothing?
log in rewards do not require anything but to log in.
yes, but are they “better”?
Havent really studied it, but wasnt it supposed to be more or less the same?
They are more or less the same (laurel, mystic coin etc.) but you do now get guaranteed crafting materials, tomes of knowledge and gem store items (which were hit or miss previously).
A couple of questions -
- What sort of thing do you enjoy playing?
- What Game mode are you playing?

He’s to the left as you come down the stairs from the waypoint.
Depends if you plan to play WvW or not. A new system called Megaserver has been implemented which mixes all the servers on PvE maps but does try prioritise putting you into maps with Guild/Server/Friends/Party. So if you’re mainly focused on PvE/PvP then pick the one you like the name of and off you go.
Otherwise for WvW check out the rankings and see which appeals to you most -
https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en-gb/eu/wvw
Also be aware that Tequatl was revamped last year and is no longer a stand next to his foot and stab him till he falls over. Well it kinda still is but there’s a bit more to it!
1) Newbies cannot do them. There is generally only one daily that can be done by a newbie without resorting to PvP/WvW, and characters below level 18 and 22 will not be able to see the PvP/WvW icons or know to go to Lion’s Arch.

Ok, I am now ready for the white knights to trounce me for my point of view.
Way to encourage constructive conversation.
Also, you’re going to have to just accept that the amount of time you’re putting into the game is not sufficient to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. So, you have two options:
1. Play the game more so you can achieve your goals
2. Accept that your goals are unrealistic, and stop wasting time on themA huge percentage of the problems people have with this game can be traced to the inability to reconcile the things they want vs. the effort they’re willing to put into getting them. Important to keep in mind is that nothing you do in this game matters in reality. Who cares if you never get a legendary? You probably won’t even be talking about this game in 5 years.
I approach GW2 the way I approach life. Possessions are nice, but experiences are the reason to keep going. Just play the game and try to enjoy it, and if you don’t enjoy it, take a break. (I don’t recommend that exact approach for life, but you get what I mean)
Ok, I’ll delete that part of my post. You’re criticism was at least constructive. I know not every thing in game is going to be for me. (like legendary crafting) I’m fine with that. Why play if there’s no fruit?
However, there has to be some balance between fun and achievement of a game is pointless grind. Why should I kill Teq for the 300th time? (just an example) He hasn’t progresssed me at all. Sure it is sometimes fun to do. I’ve never gotten anything worthwhile from him. (Isn’t that sad?)
If you’ve killed Teq for the 300th time he’s given you around 600 gold (that’s just coin wise not including other loot).
yeah and your point is?
You said he hasn’t progressed you. 600 gold can get you pretty far. Admittedly it’s rather spread out over time so you won’t notice it but it’s still 600 gold.
Sounds like a lot but in game stuff is expensive. Example, buy some 20 slot bags, an abyss dye, character slots, trait unlocks, bank space and get back to me with a total. I want fun not a gold grind anyway.
Yup not disagreeing with those. In fact the only part of your whole post I’m disagreeing with is whether Teq progressed you or not. But if you want a 20 slot bag I can make you one. Got the mats and the crafting needed. Abyss I sold my spares sorry, and the others I can’t help with. But at a guess you’ve spent your 600 gold with that list.

I’m of the inclination that they will not, and should not release an expansion. Anything they could introduce with an expansion, they can do with the Living Story, and changing their entire model for releases this late in the game would not only look bad, it would require a huge overhaul of their company processes, significantly detracting from time that could be spent developing new content.
Unfortunately, at this point of the game, Gw2 needs a major overhaul of it’s game format if it wants to keep up &keep it’s player base & get new ones interested. There’s just no buts & why about it. There loosing numbers every month. & in the end, nobody cares about mounts & new weapons skins or even new content if ur character cant get more power. Gw2 lacklusters in the game excitement department… shame!
I bolded the part I may or may not take umbridge with. By that, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean something like gear progression or are you talking about something like new skills?
The new crafted back pieces are only level 78 (no idea why) so you can use any gemstone/seal upgrade that is below level 78. For example the Ruby Orb cannot be inserted as it’s level 80 but the Ruby Crystal can as it’s level 65 -
It’s just pining for the fjords.
Pining for the FJORDS?! What kind of talk is that? Look, why did he fall flat on his back the moment I got him home?
Well he’s just resting. Beautiful coat though isn’kitten
Of course the other solution is if you hate the change this much – give me all your stuff, log off and uninstall the game. Problem solved!
Oh yeah, wearing a blindfold makes problems disappear. The logic.
Actually I’m just grumpy. Also it’s not my problem. It’s his. He’s the one that dislikes the changes. As I said before I’m withholding proper judgement until I’ve had a chance to go through around a month or so of them and see how much they impact me. For me they could be a massive inconvenience at which point I will consider taking my own advice and leaving the game.
They could not impact me very much at all at which point I’ll most likely stay. I’ll let ya know in a month.

People are arguing about the lack of diversity but neglecting the fact that it’s no longer necessary to do as the main reason to do dailies was to get the shiny.
Why do you people keep forgetting about 5-6-8 AP (and experience) we got naturally playing the game, which is now nerfed because we have to do specific stuff to get any AP? Because it is a valid and important, thus inconvenient, argument, is that why?
We’ve had specific dailies before, it’s not like this is new.
As for the AP, I don’t really care. I don’t actively hunt AP. Oh sure, when I notice that I’m 50 to 100 points away from my next chest, I’ll go looking for AP, but that’s the only time I actively AP hunt.
Regarding experience even if you absolutely ignore the dailies, the daily log in reward for the “6th day” of each “week” is a ‘Bag of Experience’ so that hasn’t disappeared either.
Thank you for reminding me! By the end of the 28 day login you will either have 10 or 16 tomes of knowledge depending on which end chest you choose. So there’s you’re experience.

Actually I just missed that argument. But as you can see by Draknar’s post above mine that at least some AP hunters seem to enjoy the fact that they can get the full 10 AP in less time than it used to take thus allowing them to go out and enjoy the rest of their time doing other things.
Also if you think very, very carefully you can still get those 10 AP by playing the game. Example I’m levelling a Thief at the moment. Going with yesterday’s dailies I can do some map completion (in Ascalon and Kryta thus knocking out Vista Viewer and Krytan Logger). Can I take him to Silverwastes? No but I can give him the XP. Can I take him into Fractals? Yes (just not levels 11-20). Hmm so those two are out. Oh! I know I’ll quickly jump into WvW buy a couple of blueprints (and sell them on the TP for naff all) with all the badges I’ve accumulated from AP chests and bam I’m done. Depending on your machine (mine’s quite bad) it takes you 3 minutes out of your way and puts you right back where you were!
I also commented that you still get the experience just now in consumable form. Which means I can do all the dailies on a level 80 and give them to my Thief for him to get the XP. So there that issue’s solved for you as well now.
Of course the other solution is if you hate the change this much – give me all your stuff, log off and uninstall the game. Problem solved!

what is the point of all this qq?After 14 pages no one knows anymore…
Mostly, PvE-only players complaining about that the new Daily system has fewer choices (for them) for completing the Daily AP reward.
Mostly, PvE-only players asking for more or less specific Daily choices to complete the Daily AP reward.
Yeah I know, I was just being facetious. But it does kinda seem like no one knows. People are arguing about the lack of diversity but neglecting the fact that it’s no longer necessary to do as the main reason to do dailies was to get the shiny. Unless they were using them as a checklist of things to do in the game at which point you now have a slightly shorter checklist. For people complaining about the lack of EXP boost you still get the EXP just now in a consumable format which you can give to any character.
Also people seem to be complaining about being forced into playing WvW/PvP but I fail to see how. Surely if they wanted to get 10 AP in the old system they were forced to play WvW/PvP and if they didn’t want the full 10 AP then they’re better off with this new system (assuming they do the dailies) as they get the 10 AP for just playing PvE.
As far as I can tell all it boils down to is – “I’ve got into a set routine of doing menial tasks and now they’ve been replaced them with some other menial tasks but these tasks are different and disrupt my routine so I don’t like it!”
