The Family Deuce. Asuran Adventure Specialists.
Zerg/Blob = a large group of players usually following a commander tag (in WvW anyway). If you’re having difficulty getting things in WvW find a commander tag and follow it.
Also what class are you playing? For WvW it’s advisable you change your gear and traits as different things are more effective/useful in WvW than PvE.
With regards to the guild try joining a friendly/helpful guild and don’t be afraid to ask questions. What region/server are you on?
You cannot salvage the following items (for the most part):
- Items you obtain from an NPC for any currency other than gold (to prevent easy conversion of other currencies to gold).
- Starter items and some story mission reward items.
Also the new level-up rewards are neither salvageable nor can they be sold at NPCs.
Especially those exotic items are so frustrating, since the have simply crappy stats
and all you can do is destroy them
You can throw then into the forge and hope for something half decent. Or something bad that you can at least salvage.
Megaserver system -
Players will no longer be segregated into separate copies of a map based on their home world selection. Instead, all players will be placed into shared copies (instances) of the map, which will be instantiated as necessary to hold the current population of that map. Overflow shards will no longer exist.
Maps are still region-based, i.e. North American servers are separate from European servers.
Upon entering a map, players will be placed in the copy of the map based on a set of heuristics which includes your party, guild, language, and home world. This will dramatically increase the chance that you will be placed in the same map as your party and guildmates, or other players who speak your language.
Which maps are you seeing very few people in? Also what time? You may just have caught it at a period of down time for your timezone. Example when I play on NA servers being based in the UK I see a few people but not a massive amount. When I log into those servers at NA prime time I see a lot more people.
Are you on EU servers Dhaylen? If you are message me in game sometime and I’d be happy to help you through some dungeons.
Flux Deuce. I won’t be home for a little while yet though. Stupid work >.<
I also got bored with doing all the hearts etc. so this is what I did when I was levelling my newest Asura -
Starting in Metrica (around level 20 or so) I decided I wanted to go to Wayfarers Foothills as I’d not been there. Instead of just hopping the City portals to Hoelbrak and out, I ran there. Along the way I’d grab waypoints/vistas/skill points as I felt like it. Any event I came along I’d do (sometimes going out of my way if I saw one I wanted to hit).
For me this made exploration a bit more fun, unlocked waypoints and skill points across the world, and boosted my levels. Then at level 30 or so I usually hit a few dungeons, catch up on some story and carry on with higher level maps.
So pick a starting location, then pick a destination that can be reached through level appropriate maps and run there (preferably taking the scenic route). Also as you’re level 34 you can do Ascalonian Catacombs Story mode (the first dungeon). This will give you around 3/4 of a level of XP upon completion.
I tried that once with a low level (around 15 or so) running through a lvl 50 area…bad idea…LMAO
Got downed faster then you can say ’ kitten " XD
Yeah don’t do that. That’s bad. I did it once out of boredom (took my level 20 Engi to Dredgehaunt to harvest stuff). Got the stuff. Died a lot and then ran away. Got halfway down the map though :-P
Haha I’ll catch you in game later Creadalf!
As someone who mains a Ranger I’m going to be biased and say they’re awesome. Our melee weapons provide solid options for keeping mobile and evading hits (Sword/Dagger will have you leaping and rolling around your foe like madman). Longbow has good burst damage skills and a good AoE. Shortbow and Axe are a bit meh (but the might per bounce buff is quite nice when fighting a large group of trash).
But as you said you’d like Ranged, High DPS I’d say Staff Elementalist. It offers high DPS, is ranged, if you don’t dodge you die but also offers useful support skills as needed. Biggest issue would be you need to use your F keys. even more than when playing a Ranger.
I’d advise you rebind the F keys to something else where they’re easily accessible.

I’m guessing they’ll keep the LS going in a similar way to season 2 and use it as set up each time they want to release a new expansion/large update.

I shall join the hype train.
Heart of Thorns is an expansion, but not as we think, because it will be purchased with gems. This will make it available for all players and reset the game economy at the same time.
On this note, I don’t think GW2 will be 75% off.
Read the bottom couple of paragraphs. 75% off.
Noobs are noobs, the first step in fixing a problem is realizing it. Everyone has to start somewhere, and in a MMO, you start of as a noob. If you go about it in a negative way, then it’ll be negative.
I’d go with newb over noob. Two different things. http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20060823
On topic – My advice would be keep an eye on the looking for forum, and, from my point of view, an active leadership is good. If the Leaders/Officers aren’t massively active I’d probably start looking for another guild.
(edited by AdaephonDelat.3890)
As Danikat said in PvE there is the Megaserver system – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Megaserver#Megaserver_system
This means that if you’re on a low population server you will still see lots of people as you’ll be mixed in with people from the high population servers.
For community differences Tarnished Coast (NA) and Piken Square (EU) are the unofficial RP servers. Otherwise they all seem to be pretty similar. People in game are generally quite helpful and pleasant.
I think it’s a new account/anti-gold seller thing. I think it activates after a week or so.
Thanks Ojimaru. Sounds like crafting in this game was designed to be endgame content, which explains a lot actually. I still think it’s a terrible crafting system, but at least the motivation behind it is now clearer to me…
Still no luck finding a guild. Is there a way to effectively research guilds in-game? For example back in LOTRO I could look at the social panel looking at all non-anonymous level capped characters, sort by guild, and get a very good idea of what guilds are active at my playing times. Including a sense of what they’re up to, if I see a bunch of names with group icons all in the same instance for example. My memory of Rift is a little fuzzier since I spent far less time there, but I think one could do essentially the same thing there. Plus Rift had in-game guild search tools, sort of like a simpler version of http://gw2.guildex.org/guilds/. The only in-game guild searching option I’m aware of is “sit in Lion’s Arch and keep an eye out for recruitment ads in map chat”, which so far hasn’t been any more effective than the “looking for” forum or that gw2.guildex.org site.
Is there a more accurate and up to date version of that guildex.org site somewhere? Or instead of a server community site like AdaephonDelat linked, perhaps a “NA megaserver” community site to help hunt for PVE guilds? As one would expect, a specfic server’s site is mostly going to be about WvW since that’s the only remaining meaning a “server” has anymore. Google isn’t finding anything useful for me so far.
Unfortunately the LA option is the best in game one. You could always try the LFG tool but I’m not sure how well that would work (seen it done a few times).
Otherwise if you’re ok looking outside of your server then I’ve heard good things about these guys https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/Super-Mega-Happy-Fun-Time-NSP-Recruiting/first#post4693980

Which professions have more blast finishers? Elementalists? I think Thieves have one? Mesmers one? Not sure about Engineers because I haven’t really taken a look at those or Rangers for that matter. Too many doohickies and I hate pets. I’ve never played in a game where AI pathing wasn’t an issue with pets.
Here’s the wiki page about blast finishers – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blast_finisher That gives you a list of blast finishers and the which fields give which buffs.
What about other types of content? The reason I ask is because one of the commanders in WvW on my home server “strongly” encouraged me to main one of those three classes if I wanted to continue to participate. When I say strongly, I mean he discouraged me completely from participating further.
WvW large group is generally GWEN (Guardian, Warrior, Ele, Necro), small and solo roaming is everything, with I believe Engi, Mesmer, Thief and Ranger are some of the best solo roamers (I don’t solo roam so if someone could clarify that would be great).
Season 2 is available now. Log in before Tuesday the 27th and you’ll unlock the last episode of season 2 for free. The other episodes will cost 200 gems each if you want to own them. Or you can join someone else who has them unlocked and play through them that way.
Remember you can also convert gold to gems to buy the episodes.
-oh true haha i haven’ttouched my warriof ever since I got back from my hiatus haha forgot how quick they are at movement and killing xD thanks for the reminder!
-hmmmm any advice where i can find such a guild? Haha
For a guild either check the looking for forum – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor
Or check out your servers community website.
I think OP genuinely wants to make a “human largos” or a “sylvari largos” etc 0.0
I can imagine largos as playable, with some neat racial abilities along the lines of what OP suggested. But everyone else who’s trying to teach OP the difference between race and class might want to give up after this point.
But…
Found a few of the concept art looked pretty awesome, suppose to be the nightmare court I think.
Yeah that’s the Twilight Arbor Story loading screen.
i have no idea how Anet gona make their expansion…..IF do have one.
but i found Gw1’s expansion works really well
No one knows except Anet. You’ll just have to wait until the 24th like the rest of us.
This reminds me of 2010 when information started to come about GW2.
At that time there were alot of threads and arguments hating on Charrs. The race that once plagued Ascalon is now playable. Eventhough alot of people were interested of trying the new twist, alot of GW1 players were hateful. Kill da charr!! or… well, burn the sallad is more popular nowdays.Look, it’s simple. I don’t want to kill the charr. I just want them to stop squatting on my ancestral homeland.
Hangon weren’t the Charr there first? Well I mean didn’t they nick it off the Ogre’s first before the humans came along and nicked it off them? So I vote we give it back to the Ogres.
Is it just me that’s curious about what happens with the other 2% of the OP’s game time?
Afk in LA of course.
Ah yeah forgot about that :-P
Welcome back.
Now that the story is split into chapters as soon as you get to level 10 you get all the missions that used to run from level 2 – level 10 (which is 4 or 5 instances I believe) in one go to work through. I mean you still need to run to the place on the map to start them but you can just do the whole chapter in one go.
Is it just me that’s curious about what happens with the other 2% of the OP’s game time?
Yes, YES, more WvW explanations from sPvP_only_Necromancer!
Tao is not an sPvP only Necro. I know him in game. He plays on Desolation and plays WvW. Also he’s not American. You continue to shoot yourself in the foot with you anger at other people. Chill out and back away from the keyboard dude.
Chill out and back away from the keyboard PvE-dude
Thanks but I also play WvW. You’re doing so well in this thread.

Why assume that we will only ever face one Dragon at a time?
“Right lads! Just aim this loaded Primordus at Jormag and let him go! If you need to refuel there’s a few Svanir camps to the east.”
You appear to be mixing terminology. Sylvari is a race. You can make a Sylvari that is an Engineer or Warrior or whatever other class you’d like. But you can’t make an Asura that is also a Sylvari. Doesn’t work.
What you seem to be asking for is a new race to be added and you want that race to be the Largos.
But as you asked what class I’d like to see added – I’d like a 3rd Soldier profession just to even it out but I’d much rather that they just fleshed out our existing classes a bit more. Some more weapons (even just spreading the existing weapons out a bit more), couple of skills and some additional traits. That’d do me.
This:
Nades.
3 nades per 5 targets, 2 times in 1 second: 3*5*2*9=270 unique hits.
270*400 = 108000 retaliation damage or 12k per second
every nade able to hit for ~800r, so it will be 216k total
FOUR times more “rewarding” than Elems, right?Euh, grenades attack speed lies about 1 set per second not 2. Also you forgot the 15 stacks of vulnerability you apply per set.
So? It will be 6k Retaliation per second with 108k damage total. Do you really don’t understand where you was failed or not?
15 stacks of Vuln at each target per throw? Really?
He said “15 stacks of vulnerability you apply per set.” per set being per series of grenades thrown. So you throw 3 grenades and hit 5 targets with each explosion. 3 × 5 = 15. He didn’t say 15 stacks per target.
Um Largos are a race. You can’t turn a race into a class it’d be weird. Like saying I’m going to make a Human Charr. Also the weapons and such you basically just described Thief. Or Mesmer. Wouldn’t combining them make them both redundant?
How long ago since you last played? Not sure if you were around but there’s a new system in place called Megaserver ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Megaserver#Megaserver_system ). It basically means that you will pretty much always see people on maps when you’re out in the world.
So far I love the silence from community staff, adding up to the mystery and making it even more possible for this to be an expansion.
Yeah that could be because (at time of posting) it’s 6 AM where they are.
Yes it’s true lot’s of people now run Berserker’s gear as that is the current meta.
Yes your build is still viable. No it’s not optimal. Look at this site for current meta build ideas – http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki
If you don’t feel like running meta builds then don’t join groups looking for that (usually distinguished by using stuff like meta, zerk, speed run in the LFG) and just go with groups that say all welcome or just the path name.
It came to my attention that Megaservers are region locked — is this still the case? Will I be able to play with my NA friends if I am in the EU servers?
No you won’t be able to unless they move to EU servers as well.
My goal is to do dungeons and fractals, when/if I can find a guild with the right schedule and play style. Sorry, I guess I neglected to mention that in the OP since there’s not a lot else I can do on that front, other than periodically bump my “looking for” thread.
Silverwastes for gold you say? That sounds useful indeed!
That Guild mission forum looks useful, too bad they killed it… What do you mean by “your server community website”? I look in the “looking for” part of this forum pretty often, if that’s what you mean.
Are Tequatl and Triple Trouble (not familiar with that one) feasible for the usual zerg mass one sees at other world bosses? I had gotten the impression that Teq was basically this game’s version of what would be a lair raid in other MMOs – just the one boss, but requiring actual coordination and communication, and thus probably a guild group. The world bosses in the dailies seem to be at the very basic level of “has red name – kill it!”
I will look into those external Orr tracking sites, thanks!
Most servers set up their own external community website/forums. I see that you’re on FC (from your looking for post) so I’m guessing this is your server site – http://www.fergusoncrossing.org/home
Teq can be done regularly without guild groups you just need to get to the map early (around 30 mins or so). Triple Trouble is generally best to do it with a guild (which for NA servers I believe is TTS?).
1. Unfortunately not. I think your best idea would be to jump into those maps when you login and see if they are contested.
2. Lot’s of guilds do it. Try asking on your server community website. There’s also this forum, but it is archived (and won’t be around too much longer) – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/missions
3. Some people like only repping one guild I guess. I think the general rule with 100% guilds and personal guild banks is to ask before you join. I’m guessing most of them would be ok with it.
4. Map Completion, Dungeons, Fractals, WvW, sPvP, jumping puzzles, World Bosses (like Teq and Triple Trouble). It often comes down to what you would like to do really. What do you enjoy about the game? What have you tried?
Depends what you mean by useful. You can get certain rewards from both maps. Dry Top is necessary to craft Mawdrey – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mawdrey Silverwastes is necessary to get the Luminescent armour – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Luminescent_armor but no the two maps are not included in map completion nor do they offer completion awards.
Several of the crafter backpacks are pretty reasonable. Mainly the lower tier tailor and armorsmith ones also the simple chef’s backpack.
There is always the ‘hide back item’ option. Why must there be one?
reasonable in what sense? Because literally no one uses them. I’ve only ever seen one person use a crafting backpack, and that wasn’t a tailoring one (and there’s always a chance that they didnt know how to turn them off).
Why are people defending the notion of pouring art resources into a large number of items literally no one uses, instead of a handful of items people would be excited to use? I’m all for variety and pleasing different tastes, but if you look at the backpieces people actually use it’s pretty evident that there is a strong consensus on what people like and are willing to use.
Aww…I’ve just been ‘literally’ deemed no one. =(
Perhaps we should form a guild Inculpatus. We Are No One! [WANO]
I really don’t get the point of people saying that this all is a matter of taste – who in their right mind would deny that easily 90% of the backpack skins are ugly as sin (the crafting ones for starters). Sure, not every backpack skin can be supereliteawesome, but why bother designing and rendering all those backpacks literally no one uses if you could’ve just made a handful of (hard to get, cash shop… idc…) really cool ones that people would be excited to use (capes come to mind). It really feels like the lead artist wanted to be careful not to make any of them “too cool” for some reason.
As with most armor skins the backpacks aren’t a choice of which is the best looking, but which one is the least bad looking.I don’t care for capes and don’t think they’re super cool. I do like my Spinal backpieces (I made a lot during the escape from LA) and my Light of Dwayna. When I get round to the Grenth one I’m sure I’ll enjoy that as well. So yes it is a matter of personal taste and people can be in their right mind to disagree with you.
How are you disagreeing with me? I said 90% of all backpieces, namely the crafting ones, are ugly and no one uses them. Are you saying those are popular and everyone enjoys them and uses the heck out of them?
Easy really. I use them. Then weapon or armorsmith one isn’t too bad and I like the leather worker one with the bear head.
EDIT – Oh and the tailor one!
Somewhat off-topic, and maybe I’m not even talking about the right game, but wasn’t there a backitem once with loads of moving tentacles? I thought that one was cool. I wonder if that’s available for Asura Mesmers.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sclerite_Karka_Shell
You can still get it from laurel vendors.
:O It wasn’t time-gated?
Logging in now to check this out… If I can get it, I’m going to shower you with kisses.
I haven’t shaved today, though.
It was time gated but they reintroduced some of the season one rewards as laurel vendor items.
Haha dinner and a movie first! I’m not that kind of guy :-P

+1 for dueling.Too bad that this forum community is against adding new content so will never happen.
I wouldn’t say they’re against new content just that a part of them is against duelling. Also duelling would be a feature not content.
