So, how is the game now? Is it worth paying to play?

Depends how much you enjoy the story side of it. If you do enjoy the story then yeah it’s not too bad and I’d say worth it. If you’re not a massive fan of the story then you don’t need them to access the new maps/areas. Just walk in and get on with stuff.

If you do decide to buy stuff remember you can buy gems with in game gold (I believe each episode will cost around 36 – 40 gold going on GW2Spidy’s current conversion rates) or if you just want to experience the story and aren’t too fussed about the achievements/rewards then you can join a friend (or stranger) who has it unlocked and do the missions with them.

Ok when you open your inventory there’s a little cog in the top right hand corner. Click on that and the third (I believe) option down is “Hide New Item Highlighting” (or something to that effect). Selecting this will disable the new item highlighting thingy.

Joe is correct about the gate to Metrica Province. This gate is at the Town of Cathal Waypoint. You can then exit Metrica to the north to enter the level 15 part of Brisban Wildlands

You can purchase all the releases for season 2 for 200 gems per episode and play through them as you want. Or if you just want to do the story grab a friend who has it unlocked and play through with them.

I hate jumping puzzles. As in if we ever do them with the guild I ask one of them to bring a Mesmer along so that when I fail I don’t slow them down too much. Without doing any PvP/WvW, I can easily get my monthlies done. Things I use to get my monthlies (when not doing PvP/WvW which I do play) -

- World Boss Train for champs/loot/skill points/events
- Dungeon runs for Champs/Vets (elites count towards vet killer or used to at least)/loot/skill points
- Dailies for daily completionist

Those are some easy ways to get your monthlies with no PvP/WvW or Jumping.

I do know that. However, when I wrote that it wasn’t. They added it. In fact, you can see in the comments below that Eve wasn’t there originally (if they didn’t remove them). People complained that Eve wasn’t there so they added it.

I’m pretty sure it was there yesterday when I first saw this thread (sometime mid-morning-ish UK time). It was near the bottom somewhere. Either way who cares it’s there now, everyone’s happy.

Actually, no, the door does not swing both ways. What people that bought the game at launch got is two years of playing. It’s something new players won’t have. And in a year or two there will possibly be a new promotion that people starting now won’t get. Does that mean they should wait?

You can use a high level salvage kit (Masters Salvage Kit, Mystic Salvage Kit, Black Lion Salvage kit etc.) to remove a rune IF you no longer need the armour piece and as long as it was not bought with karma or badges of honor.

Otherwise it’s just easier to buy or craft the rune set you want and put it onto the armour. The new runes will overwrite any previous runes.

Those are ones on rotation . They’re ones that people may not have unlocked yet but they get unlocked for everyone during that week. It allows people to progress on tracks they may not unlock otherwise.

If you feel it would be the right fit for you then it’s good. As stated above Race has little impact (my Ranger is Asuran for example) but there are some racial skills that do sometimes compliment a class slightly better than others. I never played WoW so forgive my lack of knowledge on this one but guilds here can differ in focus. You can join up to five guilds at a time and switch between them by choosing who to represent. Some guilds, like TTS, focus on the large organised World Bosses, others focus on dungeons, others on WvW. Some focus on a little of everything. Finding the right guild for your focus will help you enjoy the game a bit more.

Generally whilst representing a guild you have access to any upgrades or buffs your membership level allows.

End game, how are things there?

This largely depends on what you’re looking for. Some people like what’s on offer some people don’t. If you are looking for WoW-esque gear grinds then it’s not really here. The BiS gear (Ascended) is expensive to get and can take a while but it’s not really needed for anything beyond high level Fractals (a level 80 instance). I personally enjoy what’s on offer which is mainly doing stuff with my guild and not focusing on one particular element. Sometimes we do dungeons, sometimes we go to WvW, other times we get a team and do some sPvP.

Something I will add about the combat system which helped me early on. Learn to dodge. This game has no trinity and relies largely on active defences to stay alive. As a ranger this is quite easy. If you want any help then feel free to message me in game.

As soon as you join PvP you have a track automatically selected for you. This is where your rewards are coming from. The reason to pick a track is if you want something specific.

Example – You like the look of some of the Honor of the Waves weapons and armour. To earn those weapons and armour pieces you need to select the Honor of the Waves reward track to earn then by playing PvP.

The megaserver system means your are much more likely to see players even in less popular maps. It tries (but doesn’t always succeed) to prioritise the map shard you’re in based on Home Server, Guild and Friends list. If seeing few people in zones was a deal breaker for you before then try it again. You may find you enjoy it more this time.

Are you talking about the crafting profession backpacks? If so the reason you can’t put your crest on is because the crest is level 80 and the backpack is level 78. Otherwise I’m pretty sure you put the level 80 crest onto a level 80 item. Could be wrong on this of course.

1. Liquid karma is not affected by karma boosters.

2. As long as a skin is unlocked it is stored in the account wide wardrobe and can be transmuted onto any other skin. Here’s some more information about the wardrobe -

The mystic forge and crafting stations are now located in the western ward north of Sanctum Harbor Waypoint. There are also some crafting stations in Fort Marriner and some in Farshore Ward near Farshore Waypoint.

I think you missed a no. Here let me add it for you. No.

There was a large change to how traits are acquired in the april feature patch. Also 5 new grandmaster traits (1 per trait line) were introduced for each class. Some of them are quite cool others are a bit meh depending on taste.

Ok so everyone will hate my idea but -
I want a Skritt character. But they’d have to have some weird mechanics to reflect their social hive mind. So you only get the first 5 skills + heal skill and limited access to traits (only adept traits work) when you’re on your own but when you’re in a full party of Skritt characters in the same area you get access to your full character set up.

- Still both well equipped. Unless you want to go for ascended gear which is marginally (and I do mean marginally) better.

- Top gear is ascended. But it’s not required for anything beyond high level fractals (and even then you can get away with mainly exotics as long as you have large enough infusions).

- Lore wise the new Living Story season is currently in full swing. You can buy episodes you’ve missed for 200 gems (either buying the gems with real money or in game gold) or just play through the episodes with a friend who has them unlocked.

- A few balance changes took place. Rangers got a nice buff, Ele’s and Warriors took a little hit to certain builds. Otherwise everything’s pretty happy.

- Community is still fine. For me anyway.

I would pay gems for a Nerf Gun.

He’s an undead dragon therefore I’m guessing his teeth aren’t great so he can’t properly crunch bones and armour and stuff. So he has to mush up his food and eat it with a spoon. That’s why he’s constantly trying to stomp you when fighting him.

- if you mean the condition cap no it’s still capped.
- More responsive but still dumb as a sack of rocks
- What do you mean by king? Highest DPS? Then no. Lowest skill floor? Then yeah it’s still one of the easier classes. Not sure about PvP. Check the PvP forums for more info.

I run zerker build but just grab any build as long you feel comfortable with it.

is there any build that will make my warrior take minimal damage from sivlerwaste mobs? i dont mind if it takes me longer to kill i just wanna not die in 3 hits…i want to be able to take hits and have my healing signet heal more than the damage i take.

otherwisse a build where i can heal and take little damage to the point where by the time i get 75% heatlh my healing skill will be ready again.

I can’t help you on a warrior build, i dont play one myself but im sure if you ask or read up in the warrior forums i am sure you will find a build or tips how to play it like you want. Also like others have stated, try to be as mobile as you can so you can avoid most damage so it doesnt require you to heal it.

No you’ll still need to dodge you’ll just have a little longer to react.

Eh bored so I’ll add something as well. Famous Rangers in fantasy off the top of my head -

Aragorn – Mainly uses longsword. Occasionally uses a bow (Battle of Helms Deep I believe).
Drizzt Do’Urden – Dual wields short swords. Not sure about the bow.
Hank – From the DnD cartoon. Uses a bow.

That’s all I got. But only one relies on a bow the others are mainly melee combatants.

Yes it is normal. Warriors and Necromancers have the highest health pools. Mesmers, Engineers and Rangers have a middle range health pool with Thief, Elementalist and Guardian have the lowest health pools. The below link explains it a bit more -
