As long as you log in during the two weeks that the content is active then you can play it for free at any point in the future. If you don’t/can’t log in during the timeframe then you will need to pay for the chapter. I believe each chapter costs 200 gems.

Yeah that tutorial mission stays as your current story mission. At least I’m pretty sure it does. Been a long time since I did it so I may be remembering it wrong. I did it with one my Asuran’s and basically you just have to go back in to the mission and do it.

I just checked with a new toon, and I wasn’t able to leave the tutorial. If you try to leave the area, it just teleports you back in. So I think that’s been fixed.

Bah! That’s no fun! I liked just skipping out and coming back later. Ah well.

Edit – Of course I may just be crazy and entirely mis-remembering it but I’m pretty sure I used to do it.

Yup I can’t disagree. Don’t get me wrong I really enjoy following some of the big tests (like the Ashes!) but I honestly can’t see me sitting in the ground for 5 days (assuming I could get the gorram tickets!). A 20 – 20 I can do. 5 or 3 day test I’d rather have highlights and flicking between whatever I’m doing and BBC sports page.

I’m neither playing it nor have I >ever< read or heard anything about it in the news, so it appears it’s not as popular as you perhaps believe it to be.

It’s what happens when your judgement is clouded by overly affectionate sentiments for the game, really. Perhaps in 2 years time, you will be seeing things from a different, more logical, perspective, possible one that will be more similar to that of a player who had long since quit the game.

Perhaps you’re just not from a place that has a big cricket following. I’m UK based and we love cricket. Vayne is Australia based. They also love cricket. India, Pakistan and South Africa are also big cricket countries. I’m guessing if you’re based in somewhere like the US or a central European county then cricket will be rather meaningless to you.

But yes he is right. 20 – 20’s do seem to be quite popular.

Unfortunately I believe that the boosters are account bound and thus can’t be mailed to another player. You can gift them to another player if you buy them with Gems though.

Pretty sure you can still buy the Golem-in-a-box from a Merchant near to the Funhouse. I have one in on of my new characters inventory’s just can’t remember if I bought it pre or post patch.

No GW2 doesn’t have dedicated Tanks.

Warriors and Guardians are the two heavy armoured classes available. Warriors do ok damage whilst providing good offensive boons (might, fury etc.) whilst Guardians provide more defensive boons and condi cleanse (regen, Aegis etc.). Of course this can be entirely switched around with Warriors providing condi cleanse and healing and Guardians providing might.

It largely comes down to your build and what you want it to do.

I’d also add that Necromancer has one of the highest health pools and an extra health pool in the form of its class mechanic Death Shroud so that can be built to be kind of tanky but the problem is the aggro mechanics vary mob to mob.

It largely depends on what you enjoy the most and what you want from a class. If you want a profession with stealth then Warrior will be of little use to you. Equally if you want to be flinging magic fireballs all over the place Thief probably won’t be your cup of tea.

With regards to what’s best that’s very subjective. I personally prefer Ranger and Necro but maybe I’m just a bit crazy.

An example, in Metrica Province, would be the Aerodynamics Lab Heart. Instead of killing Sparks to grab Charged Nodes and powering the Beacons, you now kill a Spark, gain a buff that lasts around 20s and gives you a noticeable character effect, then can transfer the power to the Beacon without picking up anything.

It’s more fluid, but it did have the nasty side effect of removing fun things (although I think the cows are a bit too fat now).

I really like that Metrica heart now. The little weather system following you around is awesome.

Just one thing i thought of: This isn’t about the crafting of an ascended equipment. It’s about the value of crafting said equipment to begin with. Doing so should be a possible way to spend endgame and this thread is about the rewards. Not about the damask prices.

Certain Hearts = Taking that one quest in Ashford where I used to pick up a bomb and throw it at others as an example, I am seriously not a fan of removing this. I know that this is a starting zone and the your objective here is to let new players learn all there is to know about the game and all, but I seriously think you are missing an opportunity in giving new players stronger positive first impressions by doing what you did on this patch. I mean, those quests, while tedious compared to dynamic events, were still pretty fun.

Whilst I agree that some of the heart changes aren’t great there is one change that I really enjoyed. There was a heart in Metrica (this one http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Assist_the_Opticalium_with_lightning_research ) where you killed Air Elementals and carried globs of Air Ele to a container plopped it in, spawned an new Air Ele, killed it and repeated.

Now when you kill the Air Ele’s you get a little weather system following you around which you “discharge” into the container. For me it’s made this heart really cool.

Hey Non-Zerker here. I PuG regularly. I get into (or start groups) that fill up quickly. We go through the content and finish it. No issues, everyone’s happy.

I’m failing to see your issue. I sincerely doubt that 90% of the community is like you describe. A thought occurs though. Have you tried starting your own groups?

There is RP. Are you NA or EU based? If you’re NA you’ll want the Tarnished Coast server (think it may be full though) if you’re on EU you’ll want Piken Square. Beware though whilst the megaserver system tries to prioritise Server/Guild mates it doesn’t always end up that way (but it is getting better)

HAHA, Well any tips on race/class I would be best of trying first, I’m not talking end game overpowered ness, but more something new player friendly? I normally drift towards healing end game.
I kinda like the sound of “hunter” and the engineer class but I’m unsure about the different races etc.

Couple of things -

1) there are no dedicated Healers/Tanks in this game. Every class can do things beneficial to the group although some excel at certain things (Thief and group stealth for example). Saying that I main a Ranger and it has, in my opinion, one of the best group heals and cleanses in the game.
2) Race is mainly aesthetic and doesn’t really affect your class choice. Some of the racial abilities can work quite well with certain classes (the Asuran skill Technobabble with a Mesmer works quite well) but otherwise it’s largely what you want to play.

Yup pretty much. Drop all the account bound items into your bank, delete characters, transfer and remake (or make new ones).

There are a few limitations of course. If you have a personal guild bank you will lose access to this and any items in it. You’re also only allowed to transfer once every 7 days.

1) I’m gonna assume you mean sPvP on this one and unfortunately I don’t know the answer. There is an International Tournament coming up. Whoever wins that should answer your question.
2) I’ve played a bit on an NA server. Wasn’t too bad to be honest so you should be fine.
3) Nope. WvW is restricted to the servers in your region http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_versus_World
4) It will be in whatever you set your region to when you bought the game (so most likely euros)
5) There have been a few issues recently but they come from a third party and aren’t really to do with Anets servers.
6) Your choice really. In PvE it won’t really matter too much due to the megaserver system. In WvW Very High may mean slightly longer queues to get to the map you want.
7) You can only change for free if you have no characters on your account. Otherwise you will be charged the cost in gems to transfer to that server.

Lava + WvW sounds like an awesome yet daft idea. ANet make it happen!

But yeah an underground WvW map sounds interesting to say the least. How would you do the keeps/capture points? Camps I can see being done quite easily. Also what about siege. Trebuchets would be highly impractical. I’m guessing it would come down to Rams and Golems?

1 – Nope you can jump straight into PvP on a level 1 character. As you’ve been playing for 2 months you should be fine.

2 – Nope all PvP gear is separate so that’ll be fine. it’ll be worth looking at your gear and build when you first go into Heart of the Mists.

3 – Nope but when you’re under levelled/under geared in WvW it does mean you can die a bit quicker/do a bit a less damage. Equally you can get some good levels and it is good fun so your choice really. I’ve levelled some lower level characters in WvW just means you need to pay a bit more attention.

It largely depends on what exactly you want to do. If you’re mainly focused on PvE then you can join a guild based on any server. You may miss out on some guild upgrades but other wise you’ll be able to do everything with your guild (dungeons, events, exploration etc.).

If you’re more focused on WvW then yes you need to join a guild on your home server or move to your guilds server.

Med Kit skill 5 grants swiftness, Elixir H and Elixir B have a chance to apply it and Elixir gun’s Elixir F skill applies it upon hitting an enemy. Also if you’re a Norn and equip the Call Owl utility skill then then tool belt skill grants Swiftness.

Yes as long as a member of the group has that tier unlocked you can join them. At level 10 onwards though Agony comes into play and you begin to need Agony Resistance (although you can do a level 10 without AR. It’s just a bit more difficult).

Are you on NA or EU servers? If you’re on EU and want to I’d be happy to do a few low level fractals with you to help you along a bit.

So I was hoping you could offer me a pointer or two. Suddenly decided last night to see if I could solo anything and picking an easy dungeon that I knew I hit upon AC story. So grabbing my trusty Ranger off I strolled to AC.
Went about as well as expected for my first time. Made some silly mistakes, went down a few times but it went ok. Until I got to The Lovers. That’s when it went downhill a bit.

So can anyone give me a pointer on how to solo these two. I figured it’s probably best to take out Vassar first so tried that a few times and it went ok until I died. Any particular place that’s slightly better to knock him to? I’m thinking the corner of the stairs may be best as I can then cleave his annoying mages with him. Also any particular weapons I should be using? I was using Sword/Dagger and Axe/Warhorn but I’m thinking off hand axe may be quite useful against these two.

Personally I try to help people up as much as possible, but only when it’s safe to do so. The boss is standing on the downed player? Nope sorry not helping. The boss is engaged with another Player? Cool, up you jump and lets go!
There are exceptions of course. Mai Trin in Fractals is the first that comes to mind. Whilst rezzing if you become the player furthest from her you then become the focus of her teleport attack. And that’s not good.

Opening the chests during the sandstorm gives out dragonite or empyreal fragments.
