so you’d want a change that also fits lore. in that case, i’d like to start with over 1K gold each time i make a human with a noble background.
I’d like to point out, that Kasmeer is a human with a noble background. She’s also completely broke when we see her first.
Yeah but that’s because her Father got into massive debts and died in prison allowing all of the family assets to be seized by the Krytan equivalent of Bailiffs.
Claw of Jormag is a bad example as all of his attacks can be negated by using the fire shield skill on the charrzooka or the flamethrower. Pop the fire shield, avoid the attack, move to negate the skill reducing the CD to 3 seconds not 30 then repeat.
You can also dodge those knockdowns. Or blind them so they miss. Or stun/daze them. Or interrupt them with your own knockbacks/knockdowns.
And if you can’t do any of those then equip a stun break skill and use that to instantly be up and ready again.
Here’s a list of stun breaks for you -
Mastery points are not granted by exp, only training a mastery track is. Mastery points are from adventures and some specific content.
wrong u also gain mastery points for a track by gaining a lvl. this then replaces a skill point you would of earnt from lvling up
players who’ve reached level 80 will no longer gain levels but will instead train Masteries. This means characters that have reached level 80 will no longer gain skill points through leveling. Skill points will be added as rewards across high-level content to offset this change.

Because the Mastery training bar completely replaces the experience bar, players who’ve reached level 80 will no longer gain levels but will instead train Masteries.”
Maybe you should read it.
This is also talked about in the recent POI streams.

To me that implies that as you get exp and level up you’ll level up your current mastery track thingy.
It’s also possible that a level 80 will no longer receive experience (because experience is tied to leveling and getting skill points, which level 80s will no longer do) and that the Mastery bar is only progressed by doing activities that give mastery points.
Yup also very possible. Guess we’ll find out at some point :-P

So…tell me…how can I do these given the options that I have and my character?
Quite easy really. Daily fractal is only 1 (so not the whole set). Ask the guild to take you in. Krytan Miner – well if you can’t figure that out then we can’t help you. And you can get away with Bloodtide event (you’re only 11 levels too low). Just actually dodge/use Aegis. You know active defences that you have. Just stay near the entrance to LA.
Sonder the Seller in LA will take zhaitaffy off your hands -
I just wanted to provide an update since it’s been a while.
- We are currently working to restore the Greatest Fear storyline to the live game. I can’t provide a release date at this point.
- In addition to restoring the Personal Story steps to their original order we’re making some minor improvements where possible (e.g. recording new VO or updating certain conversations, etc.).
We’ll provide additional details closer to release. Thanks much for your patience.
This is not progression since it dosent make your character stronger. But i just thought i could lvl up at least 1 character of every profession lvl 80 full exotic (since i cannot get ascended at the moment). Thats progression, im happy now.
The WvW ranks do make your character stronger. You deal more damage to guards and mercenaries. You deal more damage with specific siege. Take less damage from siege and NPC’s.
I know. Thats why like 90% of the mats i farmed comes from eotm and im already lvl like 75. But when i tried the silverwaste i completely overflowed my bags with mats and im sad i cannot craft anything good with it. Which is shameful in my opinion.
And one of Tom’s suggestions was get your rank up to 500. If you seriously want to play WvW that is probably more important than having ascended.

Just loging into a game to get rewards is casual play in my book.
Then you should have over 1,000 Laurels by now if you didn’t spend any. The system is working as intended.
I can’t agree more that the system is working as intended, for casual players yes.
I’m sitting here just waiting for replies because i have nothing more to do at the moment. I’m craving to get into the game and farm those amazing events and world bosses but I have too much of the farmable materials… I just need those laurels but I can’t progress because of the time gates! Please Anet let play your game! I want to swing my sword, play RP and slay those Alien-looking plants in silverwaste but you guys don’t let me progress! :’(
TAKE MY MONEY
Well, no. From what you’re saying you have a self-imposed ‘gate.’ You seem unwilling to go and do anything until you get the ascended gear you want. There’s really nothing stopping you from doing any of the things you want.
Tell me another progression i can devour then.
What’s you fractal reward level? How much AR do you have?
You need to complete the episode once to unlock the achievements.
Yes it is normal. The air choice means you start with the air based headpiece. Attunements unlock in the order Fire, Water, Air and Earth.
There is no new EU server that’s just opened. In PvE all servers are mixed together with the Megaserver so you will always see people on your maps.
Also this game uses a level scaling system so that when you enter a level 15 area as a level 30 character for example you will be scaled down to level 15.
Hi Guys. I have been out of the game for at least 1,5 year. I think i finished season 1. Anyway, i am having a hard time getting back in the game, specially cause my Guild is more or less inactive it seems. I am fully geared in exotic, and at this point just trying to do map completion. Is there a reason for me to play season 2 and spend a lot of gems unlocking it or how should i proceed.
Thanks.
Honestly it depends. If you enjoyed season 1 then season 2 does carry on and isn’t too bad. It also gives you access to some nice rewards (imo). If you like the look of this armour set then the easiest way to earn it is from the living story.
I believe you can also get it from the bandit chests in silverwastes but that’kitten or miss. Obtaining it via bandit crests I believe can only be done upon completion of the relevant LS chapter.
The carapace armour can also be upgraded to the Luminescent armour if you want to.
The new maps introduced in season 2 don’t need the living story unlocked and can be quite rewarding. Also these maps are not required for map completion so you don’t need to worry about that.
With regards to the guild it may be worth checking out the Looking For section of the forum and seeing if there’s another guild you can join. You can be in 5 guilds at a time so you can stay in your old guild if you want to but you’d get the social benefits of the newer more active guild.
Now who can name a hero that fights with a mace?
Hawkgirl! And Hawkman!
Will do, and i am kinda used to dodging from games like Tera/TSW/Wildstar and such where dodge matters, i really dislike games where i can just facetank and stand still just pressing buttons.
Also i did some reading and when i saw that Engineer has a flamethrower that was the easy pick for me
Ah wasn’t to sure what your game history was but yeah you should be fine then.
Engi is a very versatile class the only thing is the skill floor is quite high which is why I didn’t recommend it straight away. But honestly if that’s the one that catches your eye then go for it. You’ll get on much better with a class that draws you to it than some random persons recommendation :-P
Server’s only really matter for WvW as in PvE all servers are mixed in together. You can look at the leaderboards here otherwise I’m going to be biased and recommend Aurora Glade. Here’s a current AG recruitment post -
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/Aurora-Glade-is-looking-for-you/first#post4558442
This largely depends on the style of play you enjoy. Warrior and Ranger are generally considered to be the easiest classes to start with. Once again biased but I’d say Ranger. Just don’t camp Longbow. Try out the other weapons as some of the melee options are really good fun.
The armour set is account bound I believe so you can use it on multiple characters of the same armour class. Also you can use the skins at any point with transmutation charges.
I only have 2 suggestions.
1 – Don’t rush through. Enjoy the journey.
2 – Learn to dodge. Combat is active here so you will need to move and dodge to not die.
When you get logged in add me in game and feel free to drop me any questions you come up with and I’ll try to help as best I can.
what does “OTT” means?
and about ascended craft – if you were not skipping some stuff you should have nice stock of ascended mats before even reaching level 500 of craft….
OTT = Over the top. Least I think it does o.O
Honestly seems like you have a solid idea of what you want. Saying that I could give out the regular advice -
Learn to dodge – big one this. I’m guessing you’re already getting the idea of it but later on there are times that it can be dodge or die.
Dungeons – you specifically mentioned these. The first one becomes available at level 30 (personally I’d wait until level 31 to run it as that’s when you get your elite skill). Dungeons are a step up from open world content. Their difficulty is based on your level and knowledge (of the dungeon and your class). Entering AC story mode at level 30 with other level 30’s will be more challenging than entering at level 80, but it’s still completely doable. Dungeons are split into two types. Story mode and Explorable mode. Story mode serves as an introduction to dungeons and specifically the type of enemies and such in the dungeon. Explorable is a more challenging experience to story providing more mechanics and difficult enemies.
Guilds – you can have 5 guilds overall so it may be useful to find a guild to help you out and answer questions as you have them. If you check out the looking for section of the forum you should be able to find the right sort of guild for you. Also if you have the money starting your own guild as a personal bank storage space is usually worthwhile.
If you’d made this post tomorrow after they’d released the blog post about the mastery system then it would have been a different matter.
I don’t think I’m acting too early. When people read the mastery post tomorrow, I’d prefer them to ask “That’s good, but can I log in, play a bit and unlock it, or do I farm weeks like a zombie just to jump on a mushroom?” instead of “OMG MUSHROOM JUMPING, TAKE MY MONEY!!!” and “OMG HANG GLIDERS, PREORDER NOW!!!” Since that’s usually how marketing fluff works on most players.
And if that information is not revealed in the blog post then like I said by all means crack on and ask those questions. The post will be going ahead with – or without your post. Now whether you can affect the final outcome (like the commander tags you mentioned earlier) will be a different matter after we have the information.
Even if we don’t know the details today, it shouldn’t stop us from thinking about how we would like to see the changes and how we won’t. Probably it’s even better to think about it before they announce their version, since after it you’ll be funneled into discussing that one option only – which might not be the best one for players.
See above comment about commander tags. Yes that was a bad idea on their part and kudos to the 2 Devs who gave up their weekend to fix it. But when their plan became apparent it did get changed due to community input. Same as the gem conversion change. Honestly from reading your post all I got was – “OMG there’s going to be massive skill grind and I don’t know anything about this system but I don’t like it!”
actually the OP is right and you are wrong about the timing.
In fact he may be too late, The Devs are making descions NOW about the topic he is bringing up.
If he waits till its in game? it will take more than a year at best to change, and will be a waste of resources.
And depending on how long those systems have been in development means they could already be finished.
Also I’m not saying wait until it’s in game. I’m saying wait until he has more information and a better idea (so according to yesterdays (04/02/15) blog post then that would be the blog released today during a PST work day) of what those systems are and how they work.
Is it something about these forums that people can’t make informed decisions using complete information and instead rely only speculation and snippets of info?
Anyway I’ll throw out my two questions to you now phys. Before the blog is released can you tell me how you earn mastery points and how you spend then? Also you need to come up with a viable solution for the “grind” that this system will introduce. Now if this blog post doesn’t include this information then we can start to get a bit more suspicious/nervous but until then just wait for the info!
We also have a saying in my country shutting the door after the horse has bolted. You sir are trying to shut the door before you’ve even purchased the farm.
I’ve experienced the results of poor misinformed decisions in RL far too often to act upon such sayings. Big old corporations are slow and rigid and suffer from stuff like this, and when they do announce stuff, they’ve already decided everything behind closed doors based on what they’d seen. And then the consumers which say “Okay, I’ll eat it anyway…” make it worse.
We’ve also experienced more than enough dubious changes in the game because of ANet’s “never talk about anything until we release it” policy, which has led to megathreads and uproars. The game is changing. When you’re concerned, why wait? When you see a problem, tell about it, or you’ll have to deal with consequences and waste time on something which could’ve been avoided.
The saying means you’re acting too late. I’m pointing out that you’re acting far too early. If you’d made this post tomorrow after they’d released the blog post about the mastery system then it would have been a different matter.
So if you really want to act on these things like you say you do I asked two questions earlier you’ve not answered. How do you earn mastery points and how do you spend them? If you can answer those and provide good suggestions for correcting the grind they represent then I’m all ears. Otherwise wait until you have the information then crack on with your “sky is falling” posts.
The information we currently have is -
Masteries are account wide.
Traits are changing. We have way more information, as stated in the OP. The PAX presentation is not the only source of official information – various interview articles have appeared in gaming websites, and we had a blog post yesterday.
We really don’t. We have vague outlines of ideas. Adventures are tied to masteries. When they do the blog post about the mastery system as I said then feel free to say the sky is falling, it’s the end of the world, cats and dogs will be living together. Chaos as we know it.
So you want to reduce the grind from obtaining the masteries. Brilliant! Love it! Fully on board with that idea. By the way how do you obtain mastery points again? And how do you spend Mastery points again?
Since ANet has stated that things are not set in stone and they’re willing to make changes based on player feedback, I want to raise the problem now, preemptively, to make sure no more “misunderstandings” like the Trait revamp make it into the game and stay for year(s) until they reinvent the wheel once again.
And if I was Anet I’d want that to be informed feedback based on the full amount of information given i.e. Not yet!
We also have a saying in my country shutting the door after the horse has bolted. You sir are trying to shut the door before you’ve even purchased the farm.
Yes but with regards to that last point they released the information then the community reacted. You’re just randomly guessing about information that’s not released yet! Wait for the information then you can go crazy about how it all sucks or whatever.
In my country, there’s an anecdote about new recent laws:
Guys, stop panicking! It’s just a project, not a law, calm down!
Guys, stop panicking! That’s just the first review, it’s not final yet, calm down!
Guys, calm down, the law is already here and working. If you were going to panic, you should’ve done it earlier!
Aye which is fine as when you’re pushing laws through there is information available. The information we currently have is -
Masteries are account wide.
Traits are changing.
So you want to reduce the grind from obtaining the masteries. Brilliant! Love it! Fully on board with that idea. By the way how do you obtain mastery points again? And how do you spend Mastery points again?
Why not wait for some actual information to be released before jumping on the “end of the world so much grind!” train?
Because:
- Everything that’s being done recently and referenced as a model in HoT reveals is based on (relatively to GW2, not other games) heavy grind.
- ANet is known to misinterpret and overdeliver. Examples: Traits, NPE.
- Action should be taken before stuff which stays for years gets introduced. Examples: Commander tags, 300g for each color.
Yes but with regards to that last point they released the information then the community reacted. You’re just randomly guessing about information that’s not released yet! Wait for the information then you can go crazy about how it all sucks or whatever.
Info we know so far -
- Masteries are account wide
- Traits are getting another re-work
Why not wait for some actual information to be released before jumping on the “end of the world so much grind!” train?
I have a level 80 guardian, but I don’t know if I want to play it because it feels like that class has an identity crisis. I made it at first because I thought it was a tank, I think I’m still confused as to what it’s supposed to be…
What classes are good right now? I realize that people are going to say play whatever I want to, but, I really don’t like spending hours leveling up a character only to find out nobody wants them in their groups because they’re useless. Should I stick to my guardian? (If their role is a healer, I don’t want to bother with it).
There is no Tank or Healer in this game. It runs on a soft trinity of Damage/Control/Support which Guardian can do all of.
I think the classes that look the most interesting to me are the mesmer, necromancer, and warrior. Are any of these 3 considered really good, any of them considered really bad?
Yes they’re all good. They all excel at slightly different aspects/areas of the game. What specifically are you looking at doing? That will give people a better idea of what may be a good fit for you.
I agree, but he asked for classes that people want in groups.
You might aswell wear a sign that says “kick me” if you roll a necromancer, sadly.
Ah. Yeah may have missed that part slightly :-P Then as Jokke said PuG’s have a bias against Necro’s so Warrior, Mesmer or your Guardian would be a better fit.

Thanks for the feedback, all! Now to see how long it takes for me to obtain it. =P
Vinewrath gives you one guaranteed armour box the first time you defeat it. If you haven’t got that box yet you’ll be fine. If you do have that box it could be fun :-P

The reward chest from the daily fractal (the one for scale 1 – 10 or 11 – 20 etc.) also gives out a tome of knowledge -
Do you mean like this? That’s the star you get for world completion
@Adaephon
There are no guild halls, you thilly bean! Even if the expansion will be adding those, there’s no guarantee they will actually have such functionality, or any for that matter.
And sure, dueling can be reserved to special arenas, but I cannot really understand the paranoia around having it as an extra feature elsewhere, too.
Doesn’t matter that they’re not there yet. They are coming in some way. And as far as I’m aware duelling isn’t. It’s not paranoia more of I like PvE and PvP to be separate. Just in the same way that you love PvP and dislike PvE (well actually you hate this game full stop which throws out the other question of why even suggest something for a game you hate and don’t play?).
So in the same way you hate PvE, some people hate PvP and see open world duelling as PvP encroaching on their preferred game style. An example to help you – What about if 2 minutes into a PvP game all the nodes suddenly turned off and you had to complete a small chain of events to continue your match? You’d be annoyed as it’s not what you wanted from that game mode (and also not what was advertised – co-operative PvE and all that). That’s why people dislike the idea of open world duelling. Honestly I think the best thing would be instanced arenas in cities (like the Bane, or the one in Hoelbrak).
@AdaephonDelat, you could duel in GW by inviting people to your guild hall and start a match. It was pretty simple and easy, and also instanced, and what I especially liked doing dodgeball with fact cast 55hp mesmers trying to hit each other with lightning orb, the concept of which was later on implemented as the Dragon Arena.
Duelling in persistent world was something I first experienced in Lotro, and later on a pvp server in Tera. I usually duelled when waiting to do something else, or just to pass time when bored – people who harrass others ad nauseum for duels are likely to do so in other activities, too – so I I truly have a hard time understanding all this paranoia around dueling. And like I said, a dedicated arena at a major town’s outskirts sounds ok, too.
So the answer would be no then and it was instanced. So why add open world stuff to this one? Why not keep it in guild halls or in specific arenas (like the Bane in Black Citadel)?
My wife, who’ll never post on this forum but games with me regularly, just said in respect to this topic "How many times in how many of these games have you and I had to deal with some jerk spamming duel requests? I still remember that idiot in Champions that used to troll around RP spots, trying to start RP fights with people only to bully them into dueling. I don’t remember a single occasion in which dueling was ever useful or necessary though.
And I think anyone trying to say ‘oh, but it’ll let people get better at pvp’ are very likely nothing more than trollfaced little monsters that desperately hope ArenaNet is stupid enough to give them their favorite tool to bully and harass other people and demand attention from total strangers.
God, I hope they never include dueling in this game, or I’m sorry, but the first time I see some little pop-up about how ‘Wangberry Juggs wants to duel you- Accept or Decline’ when I’m trying to effing sell my crap and put things in the bank will be the day I delete this game from my computers and never look at it again. I have had it with that bullkitten. No more. And I do not care if they include some opt-out button. No. Effing. More.’
And that, she and I are in utterly blissful agreement on. Cheerio.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath, slowly. Feeling better?
I’m not sure which part of automatic decline option you happened to miss. It means no requests are popping up, and if some feel like whining about it, it’s little different from people barking at others for a failed dungeon/event.
I think it’d bring enough practical benefits to the table to be worth the negatives you seem to be so upset about. Also, if you wish to go bonkers on the hyperbole, so can I, so let’s go for a ride to the land of over 9000:
GW2 is the perfect game for your Kiddo Kid Toddler, Joe Pve Casual, and Grandpa XXXX+ demographic because of the lack of challenge, lack of content, and lack of anything meaningful [insert stuff ranging from story to pvp], because the former aren’t gamers in a real sense of the word, and the latter are too old to be. In other words, it’s the McDonalds of mmos.See, it’s that simple to play on hyperboles, and I actually don’t think I missed the mark by all that much, either.
I’m curious Karla did GW1 have duels or a duel function? I mean in cities not as a PvP mode or anything.
What Maxwell said – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Biography#Elementalist
You’re only missing season 1 of Living story. Season 2 is available for purchase with gems (I believe it’s around 200 gems per episode).
But yes I agree it would be nice if they found a way to make season 1 available again for people that missed it. Unfortunately the way season one was done (generally large open world events or large group instances) will make it quite difficult to translate over.
Hey Imp,
[MEGA] on NSP maybe what you’re looking for. They’re a really nice group to hang out with. Here’s their recruitment thread -
2. If so will I have access to all guild features? (Excluding WvW of course)
Yes
Well… i would think the ability to see, what my guildmates are doing is a feature, isn’kitten
I can perfectly well see, which 5 from my guild are in the same dungeon, if they are on my home server. Otherwise only their server is shown but no location…Edit: lol… " i s n ’ kitten blocked by filter
Add ‘em to your friends list and get them to add you. Will give you more detailed information. Also it’s not their server. It’s the server of the opener (e.g. you’re on Fort Aspenwood, guildies are on Sea of Sorrows, opener is on Henge of Devari, it’ll show up as Henge of Devari).
1. Can I join guild from another server?
Yes
2. If so will I have access to all guild features? (Excluding WvW of course)
Yes
It is not possible to salvage armour bought with either Karma or Badges of Honour. I believe you can mystic forge it though and generally get something salvageable.
Again, dedicated areas/arenas, no worries. Anywhere in the open world. Just no.
The Bane in the Black Citadel seems like a solid choice.
There are no two handed axes in this game. It was never there as far as I understand.
Also is this the picture you’re referring to as two handed axe? https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/warrior/
If it is then that’s a one handed axe. On a Norn. Who are kittening Huge!
You know you only have to do 3 of the 12 achievements to get 10 AP now right? So if you’re already playing PvP/WvW and PvE you should be able to hit the 3 done in 20 – 30 mins depending on the load speed of your computer. Just pick the easiest ones and you’ll be done in no time.
Use offhand axe, the healing spring and the Spirit of Nature, man.
You reflect all the spit with axe 5, keep the burning in check with the healing spring, and when your allies go down, you bring them back with the spirit.
That axe offhand skills destroys projectiles. It doesn’t reflect them.
Offhand axe for Ranger definitely reflects projectiles. Either that or my game’s bugged every time I press 5.
Somebody in-game mentioned this French server thing once, but as far as I remember, when I got the game I just clicked everything it told me to and I think it just recommended that server, so I went along with it. I can’t see anything anywhere about UK servers – just general ‘EU’ servers. Presumably I was automatically assigned to one of these when setting the game up? If I did have an option, then it wasn’t clear. You have to pay stupid money to transfer servers, don’t you? I’d happily do that, because I don’t care what server I’m on, but not paying out loads of money just to transfer. Having said that, do you think it’d be advantageous to do so? Would I find more UK players to team up with?
Right there are language specific servers (like yours which is French Language) and EU servers with no official language but generally accepted that it’s English language. If you chose Arborstone (FR) then that means your home server is a French Language server. In PvE due to the megaserver you will get mixed in with lots of different players from different servers but the likelihood you end up with French speaking players is increased.
You will find lots more UK players to team up with if you transfer to an EU server, so in the end it’s up to you.
Not sure about these:
What’s a ‘BL’, please?
What’s this ‘Reset’ thing and how do I know when it’s going to happen and how it will affect things?
How do I know where enemy players are? Green dots are friendly, I know, but can you show enemies on map with an option?
I know you can get through blue shimmering doors, and red are obviously locked enemy doors, but what about green? Couldn’t get in those last night. If you have to break the doors down, how do you do that? I’m doing no damage with any weapon or skill that I use, but even if I could, I’d surely have to be with a group to get anywhere in the castle I’ve entered to grab the POI or Vista? Many thanks again for all the time and help you’ve all offered – much appreciated.
BL = Borderland. WvW is split into 4 maps. Green Borderland, Red Borderland, Blue Borderland and Eternal Battlegrounds.
Reset is when the new matchups are announced. It occurs at 6pm UTC (I believe) on a Friday night. It determines which servers you will be playing against that week and which colour you will be that week.
Enemy players do not show up on the map. It’s best to keep your eyes open and stay away from roads/paths.
Breaking down doors is done with siege weaponry like flame rams – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Flame_Ram
Thanks very much guys (and girls?). I’m on 96% ‘normal’ map at the mo, so just need to get the last few maps in WvW.
I’m in the UK and on Arborstone (FR) server – whatever that means! I honestly haven’t a clue!
I don’t know what a “commander tag” is, or how to follow it, or change my traits (to what?), but I’m playing a level 80 Hunter. Advice on changes/upgrades more than welcome.
There must be somebody who needs to do the same as me here, surely? Please send me a message in-game (if you can? Do I need to provide any contact info for that?), and I’d like to join a guild who’d be happy for a clueless WvW ‘noob’ to tag along with them.
Thanks again for taking the time to help – very much appreciated.
FR means that you’re on a French speaking server, I hope you’re bilangual or you’re going to have a hard time and may want to switch.
You can only WvW with people on the same server as you, meaning you can only play with the Frenchies.
Also if you’re going to take Melanie’s advice and move I’d recommend our server Aurora Glade. We’re awesome :-P

Was that the LS will be used to set up future expansions in the same way S1 and S2 was used to set this one up.
Well, another scenario is that, while the LS leads up to exapnsion-like content releases, those releases also provide the base of the next LS. My guess is that will be the case for HoT.
That’s not a bad shout hadn’t thought of that really.
Arborstone is a French language server – that’s what the FR means. I’m on Aurora Glade and we sometimes play them in WvW so in theory I could help then but it would be weird (as we’re supposed to be enemies!)
A commander tag is the Blue/Yellow/Red/Purple upsides down triangle you sometimes see on the maps. When you get close to the player displaying it you will see it above their head in front of you. Run to one on the map and then just follow it around doing what they say.
Check the Ranger sub-forum for a WvW build. I’m not sure what’s best option for WvW builds for Rangers. I’m guessing something like Shared Anguish would be a good idea but they’d be able to provide better information build wise.

Difficulty – Dungeons are a step up from open world content.
There is an LFG tool in the game (open your friends list and it’s the second tab down). You can either create your own group (an advert like “Story 1st timer” or something should be ok) or join groups that state “Story” or “Story all welcome”.
Guild wise there are generally a few out there that are willing to help and teach people. Are you on NA or EU servers? If you’re on EU then message me in game and we can try to sort something out. Otherwise check out https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Mentors-Noob/first#post3492401
Hope this helps!
I’m sad that rangers don’t seem to be wanted as much since the ranger class seems very similar to classes that I usually like.
I forgot to mention that I prefer smaller skirmishes, or even 1v1 fights, over big, huge battles. So I may still consider a GS/LB Ranger, but otherwise, I’ll look more into Elementalist and Thief. A shortbow Thief sounds like it may be interesting, so I’ll be looking into that for sure as well.
If you’re looking at doing small scale/solo roaming in WvW then Ranger is quite good at that.
Check the Ranger forum for more info about small/solo roaming and the people there will be able to give you better advice.
