Perhaps Tequatl is not really a dragon. Perhaps your character’s mind is not equipped to understand what Tequatl actually is, and therefore is creating a mental construct of a flying undead dragon as something your character can ‘experience’ without being driven stark raving mad. As fantastical and illogical as a flying undead dragon may seem, perhaps such a thing is less harmful to your character’s model-dependent reality than the truth: that Tequatl is a figment of the universe’s imagination. Or a miniature giant space hamster. From space.

Nah can’t be the hamster. He never goes for the eyes.

No grind philosophy

This game level system is a grind. bring back normal quest.

Doing quests is a grind. Let us have instant level 80s with full traits and BiS gear from creation.

If you do quest just to grind some currency (like XP) to then get what you want (a higher level) then is for sure is grinding.

If you do a quest for a specific reward that quest drops it’s not grinding.

Also when taking all definitions of grind into consideration.

If I want the reward at the end but I find the particular quest chain boring as hell then yes it’s a grind as I have to force myself to play one specific thing to get the thing I want.

“You can’t really liken not being able to play content in the game with having a fancy weapon skin.” Linken? You mean ‘compare’ right? No maybe you can’t, for example for me not being able to do the highest level raids would be less of a problem then having the fancy weapon skin behind an never ending brainless grind.

Liken not linken. Liken is another word for compare and was used in the correct sense there.

My warrior gs hammer build 00626 will be weakened due to no longer having leg specialist so that ppl can dodge my hammer leap stun, and not being able to trait merciless hammer and burst mastery (only pick one) will reduce hammers utlity as a gap closer and controll, which could also affect gs burst.

Leg specialist is still there. From what I understand your build will become 00666 but yeah the merciless hammer/burst mastery will be an issue for you.

Thank you for your feedback AdaephonDelat. I’m still getting used to the communities. This will be the first MMORPG I’ve played (Well, one browser based one many years ago, but, completely different to this)

What makes your opinion biased? Is Aurora Glade your home world?

Is Aurora Glade a UK server? I’m having a little trouble seeing the flags on the link you provided. Hope this doesn’t seem a silly question.

Ah sorry yeah I’m biased as it’s my home server. We’re not high in the rankings but we’re fun (least I think so!). As mentioned above there is no UK dedicated server just EU servers.

When you get in game if you open the friends panel (default key Y) and add me (can use the user name to the left) then message me if you need help/advice and I’ll see what I can do.

Firstly you need to get to level 500 in Tailor.

You also need to make some charged quartz crystals – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Charged_Quartz_Crystal I’d start now so you have enough when you start crafting.

Then you need to buy the following recipes – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Celestial_Intricate_Gossamer_Insignia – can be purchased from the TP
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wupwup_Celestial_Insignia – purchased from the master craftsman

Then you need to buy the armour piece recipes from the master craftsman. That will tell you how many of each item you need to craft, to craft that piece of armour.

AdaephonDelat.3890

The last Ice Age ended about 11,700 years ago OP. I’m not dead sure why it’s a hot topic for you, but there it is. I hope you can sleep tonight with this knowledge.

Technically as an Ice Age can be split down between glacial periods (where glaciers/ice sheets grow and spread) and interglacial periods (warmer periods where the glaciers/ice sheets remain present but recede a bit) then Tyria is in a similar state to Earth in an interglacial period (presence of ice sheets in the Northern Shiverpeaks is proof).

Yah, technically still in an ice age, just the interglacial stage. However I didn’t want to bring that up as I was afraid how this information would affect the OP’s state of mind and his ability to sleep at night. I figured he had to be lying awake at night worrying about it if he needed to post a thread asking ANet when the Ice Age ends.

Yeah but the sleep deprivation could make for a fun experiment on how it affects his posting abilities.

Lol. We haven’t seen either the ice (Jormag) or water (name unknown) dragons so how do you know if they are almost the same or not?

Having never seen them, and, more to the point, having never seen them in the same room together, how do we know they are not the same dragon? That is, one dragon — with two forms! Maybe Jormag is the form this dragon takes when he flies north for the summer, and Bubbles the Good, Friendliest Dragon of All, is the form this dragon takes when she flies south for the winter.

Come to think of it, have we ever seen two or more Elder Dragons in the same place at the same time?

It’s true we haven’t. Zhaitan faked his own death and is now chilling on the moon with Elvis!

^ That’s all very well (and I do get where you’re coming from), but we have left certain people to “just get on with their selfish, evil ways” IRL, as well and look where that has got us.

At some point, you have to stand up and say “No more.”.

…and I know this is “just” a game, but it suffers from the same kind of issues, as happen IRL, sadly.

These kind of people cause issues, like this, wherever they go.

“Bad things happen when good men do nothing.”

Joining their groups and getting kicked will do absolutely nothing other than waste your time though. If they kick you because you’re joining their groups to be an annoyance then you can’t report them for LFG abuse, and if you do nothing will happen, worst case you’ll be the one to get punished for persistently annoying them/false reports.

And this is less of a good men/bad men scenario more of an opposing political stance. Democrats and Republicans. Labour and Conservatives. Both work in the same system they just very rarely see eye to eye.

Yes, that just about sums up my current position.

I’m sick of this “just leave the pros alone to exclude the noobs” attitude.

If you want a game to have a future, you have to let new players join and have fun learning for themselves.

And that’s where groups like mine (All welcome, teaching etc.), guilds like mine (welcome new players and help them as we can), guilds like [NOOB] ( https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Mentors-Noob/first#post3492401 ) and people like Sarahfull (teaches Fractals if you ask nicely) come in.

This weekend I saw a post for CM “P1 newer players” and joined to help them out. Was quite a funny run (that could have been cos I was a little tipsy at that point though), but we got through it ok and people seemed happy.

You have to allow for that and if you are, truly, pro (and not just trying to maximise profits) it should be no problem to do so.

If you don’t, or if you insist on trying to force them into a boring, pre-set mould, a lot will just give up and leave and the game will (eventually) die.

See point above about [NOOB] and the people that set it up/run it.

But honestly it’s not that hard to make your own LFG’s, join like minded guilds and enjoy the game the way you like.
I will never run with someone like Harper simply because I have different views to him. If he ever joins my runs I will kick him out exactly the same as if I joined his. And that’s not a problem. It’s associating with people that are like minded and people I want to spend time with. Works exactly the same way in real life. If I dislike someone’s view points/hobbies etc. I won’t hang out with them and I wouldn’t want them to hang around with me.

Living world season 2 is a series of story instances following on from season 1. I’ll try sticking with the Elementalist but I might give the Ranger a go too, just to see how different they handle.

In FF the class I mainly play has a pet, a lot of the spells I have to use are dot so it’s still rather knowing when and where to cast them, some are instant cast where I can’t move, others I can move and cast. We do have move around and dodge certain abilities but these are shown by large red circles, flashing aoe circles all over the area or lines. So it’s a little easier for sure but still need to learn things.

I have a question about the F1, F2, F3 buttons, do I need to keep popping back and forth between these pages or can I stick to one page? Or is there a way to make the spells I need stick to one page?

I’m on Aurora Glade, my ingame name is Riona Lilicha if that makes it easier, I’m still learning all the buttons and such lol.

I’ve been doing the hearts and done one I think main quest the Lvl 10 one. I’ve participated in the events too. Is there a way to make these appear on my map when they pop up? in FF they appear on the map so we know where to go etc.

I’ll take a look at the crafting page you provided and see what it says, thanks

Firstly good choice on the server! :-P

I main a Ranger so I can help with that as well if you want.

It’s best not to camp one attunement too much. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying you should swap every 3 seconds but you should be looking at moving around as needed. For example water attunement offers group condi cleanse and heals (depending on weapon set) which is useful but not always needed. Unfortunately they’re locked and you can’t move them around.

When you’re near an event it will show up on the mini map but I’m not sure how close you have to be.

Yes you picked the class with the biggest learning curve but that’s not a bad thing. From what you say you’ll probably enjoy Ele the most so I’d say stick with it. The thing you need to learn is how to survive. I’ve not played FFXIV but from what I understand it’s a little static (can’t move and cast at the same time?), whereas this game is very mobile. You need to move, dodge and use skills that blind, knockback, immobilize, stun, daze etc. to keep yourself alive.

What server are you on? nudge me in game when I’m on and I’ll try to help you out a bit.

Quests are in the form of Events and Renown Hearts. Hearts become active when you walk into range of them. Events randomly spawn (and sometimes affect hearts).

Server’s only really matter for WvW as the Megaserver system combines all servers in a region (so EU or NA) in PvE. For RP purposes join another NA server (I’d recommend Northern Shiverpeaks – some really cool people), then fill you friends list with TC RPer’s and join an RP guild. You’re more likely to end up in friends/guild instances so you should still be able to play with the TC folks.

Thats a really lazy and ineffective method of teaching though. They need actual interactive tutorials. They would probably have to be class specific tutorials or use environmental weapons to demonstrate combos.

Not disagreeing but they have at least started putting the info in. When I started I had no idea what a combo field was until I found the wiki and looked it up.

How would you feel about a heart like the training heart in Queensdale where you learn to block (if you take the shield that is)? Just do ones for different mechanics or something.

I already suggested that. I guess you missed my edit.

Yeah sorry my bad saw it just after I’d posted >.<

I know with the NPE when you reach certain levels they do have a information in the level up splash screens regarding certain things (i.e. combo fields) but I’ve no idea what they do as I’ve never clicked one (I already know what a combo field is so why click it?).

I think that part of the problem there is that people don’t look at the splash screen that pops up and go “Oh what’s a combo field? I’ll just click here to find out” they just go “Eh whatever, gimme loot and lemme get my next level”.

Does anyone actually know what they say?

I’ve read them all, but unfortunately, the one about combo fields isn’t very informative. I’ve been thinking about “how to teach combo fields”, but have yet to come up with a decent method myself. In a way, it’s a case of rtfm, many people these days think it should work without them reading anything, so they don’t read the level-up information either.

One thing I’d like to see is an in-game encyclopedia of those pop-ups, possibly with links to the appropriate wiki article for further information, but still this only reaches those who are actively looking for knowledge. There are people who don’t ever want to think about that kind of thing, so the only solution there is to not care about it and do your own thing, or try not to play with/near them in the first place.

Ah ok. Not so great then. I would have hoped it would bring up the wiki page or something.

With regards to the teaching thing I know how to teach/show guild members but teaching strangers I’ve no idea. As pointed out people don’t want to read the level up info.

You guys seem to be stuck on the word master. I think what Jerus means is it should encourage players to improve and work for a higher level. But it is by no means required for them to master it, just encouraged. They should have the tools and teaching in place for that to not be a completely out of the way venture.

And i agree. I think its ridiculous that they dont properly teach players about combo fields, finishers, CC/defiance, conditions, boons and the various types of active defence. These are basic and integral parts of their combat system. They should be taught to the players. And its not unreasonable to expect very casual open world players to have atleast a basic understanding of how these work.

I think this is one of the biggest mistakes anet has made. They have overlooked it since release and the game suffers immensely from it.

[Suggestion] Permanent Hair Style Purchases

There is a permenant hair style kit you can buy for 800 golds.

Yeah, a “mere” £80 to change one’s hairdo from a hair up one, to a hair down one, occasionally.

What a bargain! ><

It’s more than fair enough to purchase hair kits (permanent, or otherwise) for complicated new hairstyles, but it seems excessive to charge for an entire kit, for the right to just put one’s hair up, or down (which one can just do for free, IRL).

Especially if one has already chosen/purchased certain styles, previously.

Once you have chosen your original style and then purchased a new style (or styles), it should be more like an outfit system, IMO.

They could still charge the £80 (ideally less – it’s still far too much), for people who wanted to acquire every style (including all the new ones), I guess.

This would not please those who spent legendary size fortunes on the Perma Kit.

Tough, frankly.

If something is found to be unfair, you don’t just carry on with the unfairness, so the wronged people increase in number, indefinitely.

You nip it in the bud.

Besides, as I say, it would still have some value, in that it would allow them to access all the styles (including all new ones).

It’s not in the gem store (unless you count the black lion keys as it drops from the black lion chests). Because it’s a rare drop from the chests the players have set the price on the TP. Here’s the TP details for the item – https://www.gw2spidy.com/item/38507

Yes, I understand that, but the “rarity” (which is 100% set by ANet – it’s not in the lap of the Gods) + the demand for the item = the price.

So, ANet are, ultimately, in total control of the price, in that if they upped the droprate considerably, the price would, inevitably, fall due to higher supply vs demand.

Similarly, if they offered players this outfit, or maybe transmutation, option that would also affect the price.

Ah right. Way you worded it seemed like you thought that it was on the gem store.

If you’d like to discuss that further or make suggestions with regards to that then I’d advise you try to get in touch with John. There’s a sticky at the top called “I have a question about the economy” and he generally replies in there when he gets the chance.

Well, I’m not sure what I could ask, or suggest, as they are presumably aware that they have complete control over the entire economy, already?

The only thing they don’t have control over is the demand side, for totally optional/cosmetic items.

Although, I guess, even then, they could buy a bunch of stuff to up the perceived demand, if they wanted to.

Other than that, they can do anything they like, whenever they like.

My main concern, however, isn’t really the kits – I think they would find their own level, just fine, if this suggestion was introduced.

I’m not sure either. I only suggested it as you seemed to have an issue with the economy. If you don’t then not an issue please ignore my suggestion.

OT – Whilst it’s not a bad idea I don’t think it’ll be implemented unfortunately. In an effort to (kinda) save some cash OP have you tried key farming at all? The Black Lion Chests used to give out the regular hairstyle kits every now and then (not a massively rare drop either) and I’ve still got 3 or 4 left over from when I did it but not done it in a while so I’m not sure if they’ve been removed/drop rate changed.

Are thiefs really near useless in WvW? :/ I mean, I just made a thief and seems ok but I’m not sure about the whole stealth thing if I’ll be good at it but when I play LoL I like the burst champions so I thought this might be the same. Currently at lv 7 and I enjoyed thief a bit (even tho I have no interesting skills yet besides heartseeker). Ill try warrior later on.

No what he meant was they’re not great in the large scale WvW fights. In WvW Thieves really shine as scouts, roamers (small group and solo) and havoc squad members.
