no im not compairin since its very situational, cannon damage can be healled back very very easilly, a aoe bomb trough gate with aoe classes will melt players on the rams, with hammer bolt alone im hitting arround 2.5k on siege, siege is very easy aoe’ed from players, and to counter siege nothign is better than a ballista if u dont have enught players to aoe spam that zone.

spreaded damage < high damage focused in one area (usually where siege is), since for the 50 target damage siege to work u need more than one person using siege.

ok, ill try to explain in another way since i think most WvW’s dont even understand what is the WvW problems, Anet aven dont care or dont know or both…..since most only blob and quit game if they cant ktrain….

First of all 1 cannon cannot solve the defense, even sometimes 2 cannons firing at the rams and larger group drop arround 4-5 rams and they will breach into structure faster than the defense can actually defend…even if defense as AC’s as well.

This is the first WvW issue, as much siege games tend to have populations gap, this game dont offer any other mechanics besides stack n cap, so there if u were only the cannon firing at the rams i dont see how u wanted to save the situation.
Siege tends to be the first thing to be cleared, either way SMC would be lost even if u destroyed their siege, they would have built more..

T1 needs to be meaningless that is how the game is designed, like i said game is not about defending, its all about cap faster than the other servers, reason Anet pairs big server against smaller and much smaller servers, another FAULT forced by ANet so the smaller servers will only create gameplay for the biggers server to keep capping back strtuctures, so again if u were the only one defending SMC, dont expect to save the situation.
It would be needed 1 or 2 more players with siege over the gate shooting from the 2nd floor wich is the best way to defend SMC inner gates(since AC’s can hit the gate form the 2nd floor).

Anet dont want servers with same population timezone figthing each other, if a server manages to defend structures that will not create the gameplay ANet wants, and will stale the “ktrains”.

The matchmaking system if u notice pairs even very empty server with servers that can almost ktrain their 24/7, the other server migh have a peak of population density but ill never be a threat to the big server, it is not a siege problem, but a overall core design and Anet bluntness in favour or making the gamemode easy for those who stack.

You are complaing against something Anet wants to happen if ur server not usign certain gimmicks to counter it, as in more population.

p.s dont ballistas do more damge to other siege? u should have a balli near that cannon as well, but that would make offensive hostiles build a shield gen or spike u down there.

Uh, we are amazing in wvw – the backbone of that entire mode.

In pve the only place our use is questioned in extreme detail is high end speed run raid clears.

In pvp we are pretty great at 1v1 and holding a spot.

We could use some extram oomph in pve for sure, but thats really it. I imagine the expac is going to try and address this.

doubt it proteus, players are complaning alot from condis and Anet dotn want to balance that since will cut players from leeching damage output with condi based, they will use te next spec to counter that, transform condis on allies on aoe damage or cleanse ally condi to aoe fire condi spread, that will be the flavour of the class…

Anet dont think much on how they design stuff, they just implement basic solutions and will try to adress(has in hide or cover) with class design so they dont need to touch the unbalance.

Them PvE guys you speak of can actually follow a tag, in PvE if you fail an event coz you didn’t do as you were told you have to wait hours for the next attempt. I personally think PvE players will rip the kitten out of WvW players in this context.

All they need to do is make the suggested builds, listen for an afternoon and BOOM they will make WvW mainers look like window lickers.

theres several factors to take into account for that to happen, if theres a server with lots of WvW players with massive aoe damage optimized builds the pve players will melt every time since they are used to fight static A.I’s, pve commanders and players dont have the sense of how to leech the damage creep optimization builds, against other players.
pve players are awfull at placing, they are awfull at dodging and noticing what needs to be dodge and cleansing, PVE has static dps spam for quite some time while in WvW the dps race happens in a very fast way and ina very aoe gameplay.

The game balance on this game is very very stupid and saying its crap is being positive, WvW players know how to leech from that better than pve players at the end.

Sorry about the english :\ and as recommendation PVE commanders SHOULD not tag on the initial/first days until they understand how to avoid getting farmed, WVW WILL NOT FOLLOW PVE TAGS.

Come on now.. give PvEers a chance to learn how much fun WvW can be.. as long as they have to play the gamemode to get rewards.

When they learn that following a commander/getting WvW builds/joining TS will help improve their game, we will all win. Bigger population has to be good right?

Getting farmed is the only way to show them how to play or how one is ment to play in this game.

finished my hammer leecher zerker rev yesterday, instaggbing (or almost doint it)players with 50% less health with 6k-10k aoe’es every 4 seconds, they gona cry so much

if ur new on WvW get a class that does aoe damage like hammer rev, aoe zerker ele, or reapers/condi necros that all u need to have, dont even use rangers just Rev’s in ranger place stack thsoe CoR spamming XD will be a multi-kill when leeched and stacked with the blobbers…

I think we should delete shield generators & nerf siege damage to players. Change invulnerable walls and hardened gates to something that effects npc hit points or skills along the lines of iron guards. But to balance that bring back waypoints that uncontest between defence events & bannering the lord.

yeah make siege dmage to players like 100 damage right? while i can CoR players under 50% HP to down instantly…

joking asside the fault is Anet enforcing very small server to fight very blob servers, just one massive blob that can reach very fast any strucuture when a structure gets capped or swords on it, just to kill 5 players… this is what WVW atm is…

The real issue are the developers and probably the game designer.
Anet glicko and matchmakign system is a crap full of lies at the end, and ended worse every time Anet touched it,

outer walls/gates on SMC are just a very small delay at max, the main SMC defence hard point is on the 2nd floor, and any kind of siege like cannons is mostly useless.

Cerby.1069, structures are designed to be capped no defended, reason game is this blobly drop 5+ rams on gate and u can ignore cannons, even some groups are so big have have so much water splasher that they can stand 100% of time uneder a few sup ac’s…

Another reason for Anet easy cap flaw design is that Anet pairs blobly servers against small population servers, exactly to make the cap easy.

So with this is not the cannon at fault…

I was having so much fun leveling a guardian, loving the skills and all DH stuff, but after reading this forum i’m really scared!! Even though i like the class, i don’t want to play something that will be dead weight, refused in groups and left aside

Most people complain because guardian has better power capabbilities than condi. So guard has some disadvantage to other classes.
But never the less guard can do great and deal decent dmg with good survivability.

people complain cause if u dont play for power creep (damage output build optimizations) guard cant do anything, since lacks support builds, guess that players that dont like to play dps roles will keep being farmer over dps gimmicks classes/builds.

Shouts are very underwhelming the way they work, mace shield has nice blocks but game changed to much more aoe being spammed that defensive guard builds are useless.

theres a huge gap between performance builds alone, guard better defend allies with DPS spam traps or whatever than support roles…

it is exiting. Shure there will be some class combinations that are stronger so i would have preferd 3:3 but the 2:2 has the strong play with a friend boon.

next expantion will increase so much the damage output creep that they need to be 2 vs 2 >:]

more condis spam, more and faster damage, more aoe/cleaves being spammed that 4vs will be almost unplayable.. and every one will be forced to use the most stupid gimmicks to look good.

We still do not know how big of an effect it will be but its also to reward the dedicated wvwer that have been lacking rewards for sometime now. I just hope their are new runes./sigil and armor stats for the wvw armors like sage gear.

Sadly it will just reward those who were on busier servers and those that k-trained in EOTM for ranks, rather than the dedicated wvw’rs who might only make one rank in a session.

Even i am +5k rank. How much people have slacking if they are lower than me?

for what ive readed it looks players need to improve manually the npcs from that merchant, i found it as interesting a new way to not use supplies for that or in another words, add more sopply tipes than actually a “spupply” general value for everything.

Still requires players interaction it should be automattic lol, but that would probably makes ncps to hard to kill, and that is not what Anet wants as well, this game is ment to make bad players think they are amazing, the need week stuff and easy camps to cap, wich is one of the actual WvW issues in many many others.

LOL….oh I know….but I still found it funny that they mentioned the cool glider skin on a piece of wvw armor.

Well the pvp wings have a glider skin and you cant glide in the actual pvp maps only in HoTM.

It isn’t funny anymore when I have to explain why it was funny to me. So, I have a weird sense of humor

or u could have a double funny momment and realise Anet rewards system is ment for pve players try pvp gamemodes where they dispise pvp itself…. this addons have the chance to go with a completelly wrong ending…

No, big fat zergs flinging hundreds of spells around structures create lag.

If you’re constantly getting lag while fighting a dolyak in the middle of nowhere something be wrong with your setup.

not really my dailly laptop is quite nice, the only comp where gw2 dont lays behind is on a i7 6700k @ 5.4GHZ with 980ti something something .

The point was Anet dont want players to have those burdens so they added alot of automatization to the game, i can see something arround that and i would love some camp changes, but this game is about not punish players that want to be carried, so add stuff that would coflict with Anet automatizations on WvW gona be ignored..its goes against their game ideals.

I don’t know if this has been brought up, But what about controlling the mismatched matchups? IE the T3 matchup with Maguma (rank 2) vs NSP (rank 11) vs (SBI rank 6)?

Currently this matchup? How will going into matchups like this affect pips for the servers who cannot win a single skirmish due to the imbalance?

i think that is part of the WvW design, all that the minor servers need to do i cap back stuctures and keep making gameplay for the bigger server to continue ktrain.

WvW was initially designed to have a big server vs a smaller server vs a very small server, reason dev did the green for servers that won matches, and red for servers that loose, usually what derterminates winner and looser its the population mismatch/gap.

The concept is flawed by design, where population gap is not where the problem is, but what population can due w/o effort or have any counter play / atrition, and map design are way to friendly for the ktrain happens with no effort, ence why players hate to go on offense in DBL.

Its sounds good over all. I hope this rewards work out well i can see the maps becoming a bit tag happy with getting added rewards for being a commander with at least 5 ppl. Every one going to be a commander lol.

I guess now nobody can complain of there being no tags around XD

Guess we’ll see how it all works once implemented…..but yea, I tend to agree with your comment on tags. After this update, everyone and their brother/sister will have a tag….it has the potential to just be absurd.

all i can imagine with that is so many pve players getting overfarmed.. until they drop back to pve, and this changes solve nothing…

XenesisII.1540, actually i play guildless for most time, i play on a small server, and im complete casual, from my 20+ contactus probably 1 or 2 are online and lucky both are in WvW…

like i said i play on a small server where i dont see this helping, for the pve players part, i dont see the diference in what LFG will help them, wvw has only one way to be played basicly, if they change some stuff in future the LFG change might be a good adition, but with that we have now i think it is useless to new and older players…

does anything else will change that players will require the LFGmost of time? if so they are starting to change what should be changed last..

Just …. if they close EOTM….

Obviously other major problems exist with wvw, namely combat has gone to kitten since the expansion, but that balancing act is not in the wvw hands. Population balance is as usual an ongoing investigation. Actual wvw game play needs to be freshened up, because the ppt game is stale. Now that skirmish scoring and rewards are out of the way, maybe they can try and tackle one of those issues now.

very true very true, its the other kitten team that needs to fix the part im complaining about, sadly looks like that kitten of that team works like the majestic 12….

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I was wondering about the statement from the interview. Apparently said something about its bad “the more stacked the server is”? I don’t see the correlation there, how would it be bad for stacked server?? I need some enlightenment

we are on the same boat…. i dont think Anet fully understand how bad wvw is… or their game is atm…
The ktrain gaps are really very large, no matter if a server slipt blob or not they are in advantage.

I really want to propose for them to play in WvW like a traditional player. Not just one person who goes in there for a few days and thinks they’ve got the information they need to make giant changes… which they far often did with WvW (if a dev even poked into the game before hand). Have a group of people do a month or so long of a project of running around in WvW? Idk, just something that garners more information than just a simple “Hey guys, vote on this!” and everyone’s just having giant question marks on their heads. This is something they should have done for any big roll out of changes, but, ya know…

well they did the voting stuff, but none of the option was really touching what need to be adressed… its a bit of manipulative questions where none will lead to a good path.

wich is no sense cause a full stacked server, will no matter win, sicne they are paired much more emptier servers, if the stacked servers spread alot of players theycan cap alot of stuff, if they stack in one mega blob as usual they can still cap everything easilly.

So the faster ur blob caps, the faster players fill the pips?

i actully dont get this only makes players stack even more and try to ktrain or ignore defence/offese and will make smaller servers bail out and avoid to defense their stuff so they can ktrain other empty map???

Dev’s about the barbequeue backpack, those flames are to much… imo, more visual clutter cause u guys cant do anythign else. -_-#

In EOTM do people use LFG in EOTM ?

LFG might make sense IF they abolish the servers completelly, and make game per factions, keep using server like eotm on WVW IMO doesnt make any sense at all, if they keep rotating servers inside the 3 colors… looks like a mess w/o any logic behind as well.

I would love to Anet focus on WvW but i fear WVW would become much worse than already is.,….and its dammn awfull game mode, well gw2 is a mess overall and its not getting better.

i would bet the only change to LFG is the options to add squad besides a party… i dont even know if that is present already since LFG is the most useles QoL thing since it is not needed.
Even if it is not already in game, announcing it as if was something that players care, it is lame.

We dont need LFG we have:

-Friends playing WvW in the contacts we can see where they are
-Guild members playing on WvW we can see where they are
-We have map chat theres plenty of talk and players asking where and what teams present on map are doing when they loggon to WvW.
-We have team chat(something that we WvW were asking for 3-4years)
-We have usually1 tag and sometimes 2, players that were not in the that usually are denfending or capping back camps/roamming.

LFG is a useless tool for WvW the only way to make players use it is cutt players interaction and force them to use a LFG tool for WvW wich means Kills even more WvW….?

Stop wasting time in useless stuff…

I do recall a long long time ago it was said that they would be figuring a way to deal with skirmish rewards so that it wouldn’t be unfair or encourage server stacking – I am a bit iffy though on how this will be accomplished. Maybe losing servers just take time to get the same rewards maybe (like some kind of skirmish track)? Dunno… that still sucks the way some servers are always going to be the losers if the current and recent matchups are anything to go by.

whatever it is, i dont expect anything to solve problems…

Potion of karka toughness

Used consecrations after update, still useless, retaliation on virtues and consecrations is a joke…tipical Anet.
Using mostly shouts+trooper with blocks (1sec icd) removing condis and still die with tons of condis XD
Even mace shield blocks will remove condi and heal arround 1k, still die to condi easilly, on a low damage weapon set.
