But yeah you can play gw2 as you want(as the game is being stated since release), i would recommend no armor at all and try to get 2k healing power, for sure the best way to tank zergs, you will be like a 55hp monk on rolls. ./irony -off

It’s funny how the play how you want only works on pve, the rest of the game requires specefic builds to be efective.

call a change for some classes:

Ex:

-Lower thief damage, give them more mobility, or maybe a another teleport skill.

-add more racial skills,give more diversity when selecting race.

Mesmer could call clones w/o being in combat :P, clones would follow the caster, to confuse possible enemies engaging the target(clones called out of combat have 75% less health), proly add a window to ser order to the clones, a way to give mesmer a way to real control of their clones.

Fix some weapons skils.

Make a to do list for a change in wuwuw over time
probably map design based on huge FoW.
Castles would be built with pre selected models that guild had unlocked via reshearch. (with possible independent upgrades).

and many other possible changes that are on previous posts

guild castles/alliances would be a good idea to brainstorm.

I would recommend a boon %+ duration build, if you search on the forum you will find plenty.

IMO, boon duration are the best pvx build for guardian.

Comparatively the old spirit weapons, once summoned, were pretty much unstoppable, giving the guardian free reign to do as they pleased meanwhile.

Huge difference.

With invunerabled shield of the avenger traited on a zerg was an abuse.
Was invunerable for ~27seconds from range atacks.(miss that tho)

They wont do it for sure, that would kill consecrations line more than it is already with 120sec non traited bubble!

I completely agree.

The game is grindy because people choose to make it that way.

That’s what i have afraid, next will be like ascended armor or something? someday legendaries will have ascencded stats as well for sure, now the sum of the extra stats will make the diference on the battlefield by good amount of damage.

I agree with OP, everything he says about the aoe limit is true. That is why it is needed and should stay. Good luck getting through a shoke point without.

Remember the necro wells that hit 20 people? And that you had a trait so you could place those? I have seen multiple times a 30 man zergs just died, without downed state because of those.

We don’t run in as soon as the gate goes down. But a good enemy doesn’t waste his aoe either before they see us. And as soon we ran through we insta melted. That is why the cap should stay.

And if the cap is gone, I want my shouts to heal+buff the entire zerg too.

Problem with elemental AOE is if cap is gone you wont even have time to protec the group, same goes already with the massive turret SPIKE “damage” , now imagine a full zerg of elementals w/o AOE cap.

Also spread damage by “hited” target is not good nor right, people would turtle heal back again.

EDIT: about siege, funny how it has wheels and you cant move it! ^^, or change tactics.

I’m glad you (the OP) find WvW dull. That means that you aren’t suited for it and won’t mess it up by joining it … and hopefully won’t find it necessary to post here again.

I wonder how many players who dislike dungeons are tools enough to post on the dungeon forums how dull they find it …

why so defensive?:) I just wanted to know and you’re here insulting me:)

One thing that I usually found is lost players roaming alone, i believe the OP is one of them, myself i hate how WvWvW is managed and its old alliance battle(now with walls) alike metheod of conquer and run to next while other already caping what was conquered.

What keeps me by doing it all time i log in its the guild.
He probably needs to be in a guild that knows what to do in wvw or in an real active guild?

Meh, chalk it up to design esthetics overruling game mechanics.

Honestly i wonder if these hidden delays are why i have such issues dodging various stuff. It is like the actual evasion kicks in a half second or so after the actual animation starts…

^this.

One thing i hate is when facing the target, if i roll or get behind the target due movement , even if the target is point to other place still hits me, while some other skills (like staff or 1h sword on guardian fails atacks by itself due minimal terrain inclination).

The terrain inclination invulnerable system is the worse comncept ever made on mmo’s.

Just ran into some ZoS doing ports in the jump puzzle.

They laid me out the first time I went through, which is fine, part of the game. I missed the last jump!

The second time I skulked around the lower parts until someone jumped down for a 1v1. I repaid my death there, and then climbed up giving waves and bows to everyone I passed. It wasn’t until I reached the chest that someone attacked me again.

Well, on the JP, i only atack if i notice target is going to be hostile(thats some neutral ground imo), you just went there on a bad time, you just cough the portal group :P.

Healing power in my option is only viable for pve if you want to take several veterans and mobs at the same time, had fun doing that in Arah until it got bored.

I runed 3.5armor and 1.6healing power builds in the past, and atm i can survive much much more outside pve with only 200healing power, the rest goes for armor,health and power, well boon duration on guardian is excelent if you use that get a hammer, constant protection.

defense: mace auto chain heals, symbol for boons + heals, as well as the block. whereas the sword gives you blind which is very useful if timed right and projectile absorption (thuogh i really use sword 3 for dps though)

Sword also regen health on critical, regen your stamina, and gives you fury, but as you said it deppends on the traits.

Well theres already a limit of player rezing the target, and how many you get down more will be distracted rezing their budies, you have two options here, continue atacking or stop making damage and rez a buddie, if hard rez is the only solutions player will just spawn back, regroup and zerg 2.0 .

And Yes, i agree with down state on WvW, on small groups of 5 or in a larger group.

Guard does have solid escape options, but guard does not excel in escape (nor should it imo). If you SHOULD try to escape or cause them to back off is very dependant on the situation.

Funny how other classes excell at “hit n run” or able to restart combat, guardian is just to slow for the small health pool and same armor as warrior.
Well boons are just meh, they help when in a stack now with 1vs1 i cant seem to notice i got boons.

War and Guard are different classes. War generally just sucks everything up with higher hp Vs. Guard is given other ways to deal with the pressure (boons among other things).

Despite having a lower health pool, guardian has a high effective health pool due to all of the ways they can regain health.

Boons are amazing imo… it just requires the proper timing of when to use these boons.

Boons (when used properly) are strong enough to where the dev’s are now looking into finding a way to have a more solid counter to them for other specific classes.

In WvW when zergs clashes the amount on boon hater builds is already enought.
Btw stability(5s) is a boon easily removed, and your charactrer look like a rag doll with the massive KD’s warrior/ranger/mesmer push back skils with better racharge, and sometimes die in the midle of this pushblender, and now you say they are trying a way to …….

but i guess why, it seems there way too much guardians lol, and its one of the most easy profession to counter.

Yeah banners could open a lot of ideas, guild recruitment messages just one of them.. maybe get rid of a lot of the spam perhaps.

One thing I would like to see though is the option to have your toon display your guild logo on your PvE gear not just in PvP…. or maybe I am missing something.

You already have guild armor and weponsmith, tho i liked the idead of the guild recruiter.

let me try some pseudo random brainstorming….

Guild Batle Flag standart, unloked via reshearch that would allow some passive boons to nearby guildies to the one who carries the flag standart.

Guild recruiting/promotor officer, place npc with a guild flag were player could apply to that guild.

Guild propaganda i know guilds arent at war :P

There is 1 huuuge difference between AB and WvW (aside from scale). In AB joining teams together and running in 1 mob was an easiest way to lose match
Also, if you were able to hold shrine vs. superior numbers, it gave your side really noticeable advantage.

Well running 1mob sometimes wasnt that bad, it deppended of the map also, but the spawn camps were awfull anoying, good thing now we have extra paths.
Still i dont feel much difference from AB to WvW beside the number of players, just hadded some walls before the shrines, its a cap n’run system, all the work you made will be gone in 5 to 10 minutes.

Maybe im to used to siege mmo’s that to take a castle could take 1h or more and deffend it for more than 7 days for the rewards, w/o players limit, closer to this might be the SM castle.

About daoc didnt played much, but i can see some similiraties.

DAOC: Lots of not PKing to be able to PK. Long runs/waits to get into a fight. Lots of lopsided class/server fighting. Really great when there was actually a fair fight.

GW2 has distilled WvW into mass fighting with little down time. Could it be better, yep. Is it great, yep. Anyone else out there got a better released MMO? Not that I know of… if they did I would be playing it.

“GW2 has distilled Alliance Batles into mass a fighting”, i cant imagine comparing it to other games even ragnarok online was better in this field of taking castles in towns, Wvw should be compared to AB since is the same cap catles/shrine and run to the next one for score.

Guardian focused on healing often results in over-healing and then not contributing to much else which is not so good. So sure, healing, but you want to raise your buff potential and/or DPS. I mostly run with mace/shield + GS and staff backup (for roaming), so favor more DPS, myself. My guard is mainly for dungeons, some metas.

In PvP the healway guards don’t really help much either imo… sure you won’t die… but you’re not going to kill much of anything with that set up either.

Should switch Scepter for Mace. Better healing and support with it (Block, extra heals on combo chain and on SoF, protection if the block doesn’t trigger)

Yeah, I go back and forth. Kinda settled on scepter for WvW because Smite is good against people on walls and siege engines and Chains is faintly useful for getting someone killed in the act of fleeing, plus in a hot situation it gives me something to fling at enemies from a safe distance.

Shame about the orbs being probably the worst #1 attack in the game though. :-p Terrible damage. Long travel time. No special effects. Other than that it’s great!

Orb dmg, if you gear for DPS is amazing. Don’t be fooled.

In PvE it’s good, PvP it moves too slow to hit anything that’s moving at any sort decent range That’s somewhat by design though… long ago the range was extended to help guards hit siege at longer ranges in WvW… and not other players.

[Poison]Deals damage every second; heal potency decreased by 33%; stacks duration.

Keep the healing guardian poisoned when he tryes to heal, stress him a bit, have fun and he cant pop up is health bubble up.

Conditioners apply recharge much faster than Condition removers its just a matter of time.

No big deal, thats why i dont like how the healing power on guardian works.

I think he was using it in the context of damage mobility. Warriors HB does high damage but doesnt actually hit anything since people move around.

Guardian combat is more fluid.

Effective DPS on the Guardian is better. Warriors have high potential damage. But their big hit skills are easy to avoid.

Same with zealot’s defense, Flashing blade misses target by hitself sometimes selecte target, press skill, and you appear on a random nearby place lol.

BUG;

Does Zealot’s Defense block or Destroy projectiles? Because right now, it isn’t proccing anything that claims to proc when you block.

Projectiles aimed at the player are absorbed, and not actually blocked. As such, on-block traits such as Might of the Protector do not trigger.

Most players wont bring Cc at all. They refuse to immobilize. They kitten about not being able to catch ele and bring nothing to do it. My GS/ Axe & Shield warrior in WvW Has at least 4 cc skills which is usually enough to slow down an ele and he can keep up. Most players will not build a class like this. Until they start carrying cc expect the complaints to continue.

Thats not totaly true, as Guardian sometimes i even use KD signet plus hammer and lighthing ele’s just use “NOS button” and run miles miles away if they are going down.
Other possible scenario they go in circle arround while have to change to wand/offand and with blinks, KD’s, hammer CC, i cant match them up most will use melandru rune + stun duration food for what i noticed.

While playing thief its scorpion wire then burst.

I think the mace is better than you think it is, even (especially?) as a DPS weapon. While it’s not my weapon of choice, when I do slot it I’m often surprised by how underrated it is.

IMO, its not that great outside pve, a clever player will never get near the guardian to kill it, and all classes have ranged weapons some have native better mobility.

“Magi” has precision and healing power, but that is totaly wrong to use on guardian, i would recoment to almost ignore the healing power and raise the boon durations.

Here are some advices:

-Healing power is only good for pve (high healing power and armor makes a mace guardian imortal in pve), and in pvp\wvw if you get rooted or bursted you cant do much with low health or armor, healing power wont help.

- Due low mobility of guardian, faster and ranged classes will always maintain that safety distance, will force you to heal, use of your defensive skills,shredd your boons,and when your skills are loading it is a good time to atack(even with teleports and blinks you cant do much).

I se a thife go to stealth 50m from me i put up Ring of Warding and then 2sec after i get hit, if he cod not get in i wouldnt have been hit, tried otherway to but there your more unsure, when you get hit i put out Ring of Warding and then 2sec later he is 70m away.

A good thief will always pressure you to waste your shouts, consecrations, go invisible the bursts , after you got your stuff recharging you are mostly a free kill, im making a thief atm and a see how much easy (almost w/o effort to kill lvl80 geared guardian with low health).

Bunker works better on Spvp than WvW, what weapon you use?

btw i played a build with 1.7healing power and 3.4k armor, and any zerker shreds a bunker or gives it alot of work.
Out of pve healing power is more like a placebo, while with mace, professions with more mobility the guardian wont event touch them if they know how to play, and i dont see that build making the necessary damage with the magical wand.

Retaliation + Igniter = Look ma no hands!

I prefer to focus on the dredge units first since you cant blind them and they generally have more annoying abilities and most can CC. Once you burst them all down you can just mop up the flame survivors.
